BEx Analyzer vs Query

What is the technical difference between placing a restriction on an attribute within the a query vs. within the workbook?
If I place it in the workbook, is the restriction done after the query is run and before the results are presented to the user, therefore causing more records to be retrieved than necessary?

Hi Wardell,
Your assumption is correct so preferably place the restriction in the query to have less load on the database selection.

  • BEx Analyzer / authorizations / query search

    Hello everyone
Today I have a problem with my authorizations for the the BEx Analyzer.
The technical name of my InfoArea is VCOPA.
I have a number of queries with the technical name VCOPA_MM001 / VCOPA_M01_X0001 / and so on.
When I open the BEx analyzer and search for queries (wildcard *) I get only my queries with the technical name VCOPA. So far so good... Unfortunately the Bex search results display additionally several query views (like 0D_DX_M01_Q0001_V05) and that is bad. So how can I stop this?
    My authorization settings:

  • BI 7.x Bex Analyzer workbook Query Changes

    Hi All,
I have question regarding the BI 7.x analyzer workbook.
Have created a 7.x workbook and save the query..runs fine.
The I changed/replaced the key figure on the bex Query using the Query designer.
    When I run the workbook, I thought it would automatically pickup the new Keyfigure and display in the workbook;
Can anyone suggest what is the procedure to make to workbook reflect the current query componant changes.
I can run the workbook..but it diplays blanks in the keyfig column?? Do I need to re-design my workbook from scartch.
    Appreciate your helpful answers.
    Rao

    HI,
    Open the Work book.
Click on the Design Mode button in teh tool bar.
You will see the table item in teh Work Book.
Right Click on it and say properties.
From the Option of Data provider, click on teh edit button and rebrowse the query.
This way you can see the new KF in the out out.
But if you had and customised navigation in the Work Book it will be rest to the initial view of the query and you need to reset it again.
    Regards.

  • BEX Analyzer open query very slow

    HI,
recently got a question, when i use rsrt open a query it takes 10 secs. but when i use analyzer  open the same query(same selections),it takes 50secs .  Please could you look and suggest what should be done to improve performance?

    Hi,
Please check if you have enabled any unnecessary settings in Excel..eg: add-ins, components etc that might be taking time to run.
You could find this from MS Excel options: Trust center settings or in Developer tab (if u r using MS Excel 2007)
Disable the unwanted add-ins/components and try.

  • Bex Analyzer - Change Query Layout

I want to change how groups are displayed in my Bex Excel Analyzer. I have a row of Cost Centre / Employee and Cost Element but I want Cost Centre to appear above Employee and Cost Element.
    E.g.
    Current:
Cost Centre / Employee / Cost Element
    What I'd like to see:
    Cost Centre
    Employee / Cost Element
    Can this be done?
    Cheers
    Joel

I was thinking in the Analyzer but I'll change it anywhere I can it to work. Cost Centre and Employee are in rows. But I want Cost Centre to appear above employee e.g. these are a list of all employee's in this cost centre. The columns I'm using are period and amount. That way I can show the amounts employees in different cost centres were paid per period. Cost Centre and employee are currently in the row. This is ok but having them next to each other wastes space on the page. So to have cost centre over employee seems a better use of space and is more pleasing to the eye.
    Current:
                                             April   May
    A0001 Packing John Smith £100    £100 etc
                           Jim Jones   £125    £125
    What I want is:
    A001 Packing  April  May
    John Smith      £100 £100
    Jim Jones        £125 £125

  • BEX Analyzer - Query Crashes Problem

    Dear all,
I have consumption of 5 million customers. What i need to do is to group consumptions depend on groups:
Lets say 0-100 USD 100-1000USD  1000-5000 USD in bex analyzer,
my query works fine with less data, however when i run with 5 million customer, bex analyzer crashes when running query.
What can i do that? should it be reletaed with ram? or olap cache? How to run query successfully?
    Thanks

    Hi
Excel 2007 has got only one million no of rows. restrict your query as much as possible. We also faced the similar issue when executing query based on articles.
Try creating different queries based on groups such as customer group or material group then execute. your system performance drastically goes down if you execute such a big query without many restrictions.
    Thanks

  • Query not Opening using Bex Analyzer

    Hi Experts,
We have developed queries in Designer, and we can execute them from query designer.
But if we try to run the query from Bex Analyzer no query output comes.
Output comes as No Data Available.
This issue is happening from past 3 days..before that we were able to execute from Analyzer also.
I am wondering has any setting is changed.
Kindly suggest , as this is very important for us to solve ASAP.
    Thanks
    Mayank

    Hello,
After applying the latest patches for core GUI and BI components, and the MS Office patch (sap Note 1025122), it should work correctly. I have faced the same issue and corrected it by applying these patches. (The MS office that I am using is MSOffice2003.)
Can you try opening the analyzer from the start menu, instead of using transaction RRMX?
If this way it is working correctly, then the softwares pieces are setup correctly.
Then you may want to check the customizations of your BI system. i.e. IF it was upgraded from the BW3.5 system? What strategy are you using for the report migration? The administrator might have changed the settings according to the strategy and current phase of the report migration.

    Hi,
Check your support package and patch level of your BEx Suite. BI 7.10 Support Package 6 Patch 1 works fine with Excel 2007.
You might also want to check your installation using the file "sapbexc.xla"  on your hard drive. You should find it in C:\Program Files\SAP\FrontEnd\Bw or similar, although i'm not quite sure this works with BI 7...
    Bye

  • BEx analyzer shows 0,000 in rows, but 0,5 in total

    Hi Experts,
In BEx Analyzer my query shows 0,000 for a key figure in 3 rows, but in total of these 3 rows there is 0,5 %. The key figure is used as an attribute to a custom characteristic. When I display the characteristic, I see values 0,1 + 0,2 + 0,2 which gives correct total. If I display more decimal places in Bex, it is still the same like 0,00000.
We are on SAP BI 7.1 SP 06. Can anybody help?
    Michal

Problem was solved via OSS note 675235.
    transaction SPRO:
    -> BW Customizing Implementation Guide
      -> General settings
      -> Check units of measurement
-> Select the Units of measurement button  and set decimal places rounding.

    2) As soon as the report opens it shows me a message "Do you want to open the 3.X workbook for upgrade"
    3) I click on "OK"
    4) then i get a message window listing a lot of warnings liike " Access to project denied"  "creation of items failed"
    5) i click on "OK"
    6) Now, variable entry screen appears
    7) i enter values and click on "OK" the report does not show any data.
Now, the same report "reportA" when i open it in Internet Explorer, it displays data. What can be reason for this problem in BEX analyzer ?

    Hi Suraj,
If you want to execue your query, you can use the bex analyzer.
If you are opening the query from query designer 3.x query in 7.0 fronend, it will get upgraded and then cannot be reveted.
In your case this automatic migration might be havng some issues, owing to complexities.
    Please recheck.

  • Error Message while opening workbook or Query in BEx Analyzer

    Hi all,
Whenever I try to open any workbook or query using Bex Analyzer I get an error message saying "Serious error occured while reading history folder" Message class RSOBJS, number 170. But this doesnt stop me from opening the workbook or the query.
Kindly help me to suppress or eliminate this message. I am not able to find this message in the list of messages available in RSRT either.
    Thanks and Regards
    Mui Kanva

    Hi Mui Kanva,
Does your problem occur in a copied system?
I have same problem in our Quality-BW (copied from productive system). WE are in our QBW not able to activate personalization correct and get the same error messages. I suggest the reason in the fact, that the source-system Myself (QBW) does not work correct. This reason causes that export data sources could not be activated via RFC-Connection.
Please check to activate your source system?
We accept the error messages in our QBW and did not activate the RFC connection.
    Regards
