  • Difference between using the Enterprise Portal and SAP GUI

    Hi Gurus,
Could one of you please send me a document that lists the differences between the Enterprise Portal and SAP GUI?
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
For groups, managedBy is an administrative convenience to designate “group admins”. Whatever principal listed in
managedBy gets permission to update a group’s membership (the actual security is updated on the group’s AD object to allow this).
In Win2008 and later managedBy also became the way you delegated local administration on an RODC, allowing branch admins to install patches, manage shares, etc. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc755310(WS.10).aspx).
On the RODC, this is updating the RepairAdmin registry value within RODCRoles.
So the difference between them should be only the way they do the same thing.

  • SSO E-Sourcing and SAP GUI for HTML

    Hi,
We are trying to provide integration between SAP E-Sourcing and SAP ECC via the SAP GUI for HTML. From an E-Sourcing project, we should define a link which will link us to the report via SAP GUI for HTML. Some parameters are automatically transferred via the URL so that the report will be prefiltered.
The problem arises that we cannot create a SSO mechanism between SAP E-Sourcing and SAP GUI for HTML. The only documentation we can find is how to setup this SSO between the Portal and ESO (only included going from the EP to ESO). We need to find a way to do the opposite, i.e. SSO from ESO to SAP / EP.
    Thnx,
    Bram

    Dear Chong,
I have came across the following information about SAP GUI For HTML
With the version 7.02 / 7.20 of the NW Application Server
the SAP GUI for HTML has been completely
    reworked.
1.The rendering is now based on Unified
Rendering which is also used by many other
    SAP UI technologies.
2.Similar Look & Feel as other UI technologies
    3.Better Portal integration
    4.Full Theme support
    5.Unified client requirements
But have not came across any note which converts the SAP GUI for HTML to SAP GUI for Windows in appearacne. I think the point 2 mentioned about says that in this version the SAP GUI for HTML will have appearnce like the other UI.
    Pls refer the [link|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d06db80d-ebf4-2a10-6b99-faa652c69d5c?QuickLink=index&overridelayout=true]

  • NWBC Side Panel and SAP GUI Scripting

    Hi,
I was hoping someone might be able to clarify the SAP GUI scripting requirements for using the NWBC side panels. In the help documentation it states:
As of NWBC 3.5 patch level 6 or NWBC 4.0 and SAP GUI 7.20 patch level 13 or 7.30 final release, it is no longer necessary to enable SAP GUI Scripting on the client PC, except if you are using Property Collector. That means, it is no longer necessary to enable front-end scripting through registry key (HKLM and HKCU) for using side panels in NWBC. However, it is still necessary to install SAP GUI Scripting and to enable it for the server (at least read-only).
Some of our users are getting pop up messages that say "The scripting support is not installed"... interestingly they don't actually appear to be opening a side panel when they get this message.
I noticed that these users don't actually have SAP GUI scripting installed at all, so not that it is just not enabled, it is not installed in these cases. So does the above section from the help documentation mean that SAP GUI scripting must be installed on the client PC but it does not actually have to be enabled?
That's how I am currently reading it... but perhaps someone can clarify for me, or someone else has had a similar experience.
    Thanks,
    Simon

    Hi Simon,
As written in the documentation you quoted:

  • Bex Patch level for Windows 7 and SAP GUI 710

    Hi,
We have the machine with following config:
    O.S  - Windows 7
    SAP GUI - 710
    MS Office 2007
When a user logs into Bex Analayzer, clicks on Add-ins he gets an error message in German.
Same kind of problem was encountered with Office 2003, but MS fix 907417 solved the problem.
But i am not able to find any such fix for Office 2007.
Can anyone tell me what should be the patch level of Bex in this case?

    Hi,
What is the exact error message you are getting?
    Thanks

  • WebDynpro proxy page with Webdynpro iView and SAP Gui for html iView

    Hello,
I have a requirement to have a page that has at the top of it a webdynpro for java iView screen with several links that when pressed pop-up various data pulled from the back-end. This part is fine and presents no problem. Beneath this the requirement calls for a SAP Gui for HTML iView to be displayed. Which is no problem either. The problem occurs when one of the links in the java webdynpro application at the top of the screen is pressed it causes the SAP Gui for HTML portion to refresh and come back to the beginning. So for example you first navigate to this screen and you go into the sap gui for html portion and drill into 2 or 3 screens in the sap gui for html transaction. If you then press one of the webdynpro links the sap gui for html (which is a separate iView) refreshes and you are taken back to the initial screen. This only occurs when using a web dynpro proxy page. If I use a standard page the SAP Gi for html does not refresh. Unfortunately there are other things not mentioned here that require us to use the webdynpro proxy page.
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Bert

Use System admin -> System Config and find your system in the PCD (under portal content). Right click and open -> permissions. Find a user or group or role and give it the end user permission. I'd suggest the group Everyone.

  • ECATT and SAP GUI

    Hi Friends
I am new to this forum and would request to help me solving the following problem
    Requirement is as follows.
Development of screen mapping utility -  which would likely use the eCATT/SAPGUI library.
Depending on how the eCATT/SAPGUI interface works, probably some infrastructure code to connect, etc.
How should i go about this.
    Regards
    sunder

    Hello Sunder,
I think that you should post this question in the SAP GUI.

  • Paralell sesions ITS moble and SAP GUI

    Hi All,
Is it possible to restrict ITS mobile users to access the backend only via ITS?
Right now they can use ITS mobile screens and at the same time logon to the system via SAP GUI.
Could you please advise is it possible to block SAP GUI?
    Best regards,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,
You can try to change the user type to Communication. With this user type, the user cannot logon to system via sapgui but can via http.
    Best regards,

  • Difference, advantage and disadvanatges betweeh PCUI and SAP GUI

    Hi Scholras,
Can any one tell the advatnages , disadvantages or difeerence between the interfaces GUI and PCUI.
    Regards,
    sasi

    Hi Ramarao,
mySAP CRM offers two user interfaces for running the business scenarios: People-centric UI (PC-UI) and SAPGUI.
For Interaction Center-based scenarios there is a choice between a WebClient and a WinClient version in addition.
SAP Best Practices for CRM supports both UI versions.
In comparison with the SAPGUI the PC-UI provides a more easy and flexible adaptation and personalization as well as a state of the art technology and look-and feel.
But in some project situations these advantages may not justify the higher installation and maintenance effort. In this case the PC-UI can still be chosen.
Nevertheless a move to the PC-UI is of course possible also in a later project phase because for most of the scenarios the UI has only a very limited dependency on the customizing.
Only the choice between WebClient and WinClient is fundamental because the customizing is different and an automated migration from WinClient to WebClient or vice versa is not supported.

  • Interaction between BSP and SAP GUI

    Hello all,
I am having trouble with interaction between BSP and dynpros:
I have a dynpro with a container where a BSP is shown.
I would like to be able to return a value from the BSP to the control program of the dynpro.
Any ideas of how to do it?
    Thanks a lot!
    Helpful answers will be regarded.

    Hello both,
thank you for your replies, but I am still not able of performing this.
I have tried using GET/SET parameters but it is not working, I get no parameter (perhaps I am not using the sentences correctly or in the correct place).
I have also tried the code of demo program SAPHTML_EVENTS_DEMO and I think I cannot do it, I explain it a bit more:
I have a button on my  BSP with some code programmed on event OnInputProcessing to be executed, and at the end I would like to return one value to the control program of the dynpro.
But if I set the html form of the BSP as action:SAPEVENT, the bsp code is not executed...
    Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks!!

  • SAP GUI with SNC logon and Hummingbird Exceed - SAP GUI window size issue

We have discovered an issue when SAP GUI 7.10 is used to logon via SNC and Hummingbird Exceed is used on the same workstation to logon to a UNIX system either via x-windows or telnet.
When the user logs onto a UNIX system using Hummingbird Exceed, then uses SAP GUI to logon to a SAP system with SNC authentication, the SAP GUI authentication works, but the favourites list is not fully displayed and has to be resized before any of the entries are available.
Has anybody else seen this issue, and do they know if there is a fix available ? We wondered if there might be an issue with fonts or some other sort of conflict between Exceed and SAP GUI, but it is strange that the problem only occurs if SNC authentication is being used, and when userid+password is used to logon to SAP the problem does not occur.
    Cheers,
    Tim

    Hello Tim and Wolfgang,
I was curious too as I found it interesting... so I tested a few combinations, but could not reproduce what Tim has described, at least not before my CPU reached 100% and the applications stopped responding (~2GHz processor, 1GB RAM, 48 kbps connection, latency ~ 2 x width of the Pacific Ocean, but Backend 7.00!).
However I did notice some indications which might be a help (based on 7.00!):
Back in 4.?? there was a problem in that large menus could not be searched(!). Sorry, I don't have access to SAP now, but from memory the note # was 444043 (or very similar) and introduced a form routine for large menus - from a printscreen I still have the message number which led me to the note - 'I476(S#)'.
The system certainly distinguishes between MENU_TYPEs and the above note corrections could be found in several locations relating to the SAP menu 'S', the role menu 'A' etc, but I could only see that for favourites 'F' this is implemented for the menu search (when searching, not when loading).
@ Tim: Ask you customer to create a favourites menu which only has 1 node or max 2 (certainly not more than 4!) and ~ 20 executable objects in it (not more than 30!)? Can they under any conditions achieve the described problem with such a menu?
If not possible to reproduce, then the closest I could guess is a maximum limit of 4 nodes and max 30 objects for a 'F'avourite menu, before it is a minimum candidate for "performance problems" and consideration to be converted to a role ('A'ctivity group) menu instead.
Sorry that I can only help by speculating, because I could not reproduce what you have described.
Hopefully this problem will not happen to me in the New Year, and hope you will solve it for the rest of the year
    Cheers,
    Julius

I have installed SAP GUI 7.20 and I moved the saplogon.ini to a folder different from C:\WINDWOS, but message server and SAProuter are still pointing to C:\WINDOWS\SAPMSG.INI and C:\WINDWOS\SAPROUTE.INI.
I don't like these files on WINDOWS, How can I move them to another location and SAP GUI still can read them?

  • SAP GUI Memory issues on Windows Terminal Server 2003!!

    Hi All
We are currently experiencing serious issues with our terminal servers and SAP GUI. It appears that SAP GUI is consuming a large amount of memory inorder to run, which in term is causing our terminal servers to page more.
I am not sure where to start with this issue so any help would be great!
    Thanks
    Phil
Loads of points if someone helps me solve this!!!

Citrix won´t help much, it´s "just" a different protocol between the client and the server, Citrix itself will use even more memory.
Why are you sure, that the reason for this is the SAPGUI and not any other Office program?
    Let´s calculate:
I´m writing this message on a TS too. My Outlook (2003) consumes ~ 32 MB memory (incl. virtual), I have 4 SAPGUI windows open which consume 64 MB and some telnet sessions (no Word, Excel etc.)
Let say roughly 128 MB all in all.
If you have 2000 users with 20 servers, means, 100 users on one server, that would be 12,8 GB memory - not caclulated other services running on that box (printserver etc.) including the operating system itself.
If your users have Internet Explorer (or other browsers) open too, you will need to add that amount too. 128 MB per user is the minimum.
If users use BEx (or other .NET based BI developer tools), that amount will doubled (at least).
SAP recommends a PC with at least 256 MB memory to run a SAPGUI with acceptable performance, do you have that much per users? How big are your single servers?
