BEx Broadcast Issue

When I execute a broadcast of workbook, the popup window with url http://<appserver>/sap/bw/Mime/BEx/Misc/PleaseWait.html comes up and it remains open and blank without executing the broadcast.  This has worked before.  When it works, the pop up window gives a detail log of the broadcast.
Has anyone experience this problem?
Thanks,
Mario

Have you checked transaction rsprecadmin to see if your precalculation server is offline?

  • Issues in BEx Broadcasting through email

    Dear Experts,
I am currently facing a very weird issue while broadcasting BEx reports. What i have noticed is that it is not possible to schedule the same report with two different settings at the exactly same time.
Suppose the Bex report name is DEMO_QUERY. Now i want to schedule it with two different technical settings for different selections but at the same time, say 8:00:01 AM. When i schedule the report, i get no errors. But at the time of execution, only one them is broadcasted and the other fails with the following generic error.
Java system error: Exception in method processFunction.
    Message no. RSBOLAP018
Now this error has been widely discussed on SCN but none of them fits my scenario. The resolution provided in many threads points to running a diagnostic tool on the portal. I have even checked the number of processes allocated to BROADCAST and so on.
But if i space the two settings by say one minute or so, i get both the broadcasts. So i want to learn that is there a technical w.r.t BEx broadcaster which prevents it from broadcasting same report at same time with two different settings.
    Thanks

    Hi Michael,
The current setting is 3,default i guess. But there are many other BEx queries which are scheduled at the same time. Problem is only encountered when the same BEx query is scheduled with multiple broadcast settings to run at the same time. If it was an issue with Java server then shouldn't it be affecting other reports also which are scheduled at the same time.
    Thanks

  • Authorisation issue regarding BEX Broadcaster

    Hi all
Does anyone know why I maybe getting an authorisation issue attempting to broadcast a pdf report via the Bex broadcast tool?
The recipient user has all the relevant authorisations and roles attached, and when this report is previewed in Bex Report Designer, the report runs fine showing all the data for the report, However when the report is scheduled via the Bex broadcaster, the broadcast fails. RSRD_LOG shows the following message
Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist.
    Message no. RSBOLAP017
And in T-code sm21, I get the following error
    X MESSAGE BRAIN 299: SAPLRSEC_CHECKS
    RSEC_GET_AUTH_HIER_FOR_USER:NOHIE
This indicates that there is an authorisation error with my user, however as mentioned earlier all the authorisation objects and roles seem correct as the report runs fine as I can preview in bex report designer with no authorisation problems at all.
I have also executed the report in T-code RSECADMIN this also shows no errors in the error log and the report runs fine here too.
    Please can anyone advise?
    Thanks
    Forhad

    Hi Forhad,
I'm not sure if the error is related to the communication between the Java and the BW or if it's a problem with the authorization.
Are you using a customer exit or an authorization variable in your query/bookmark?
Check if by chance your query have an hirarchy assigned to a characteristic, then, check the user's authorization and check whether you have enough authorization for the hierarchy.
I'm unsure, but maybe note 916090 can help you.
    I hope it helps.

    Daniel

  • BEx Broadcaster --HTML error

    Hello All...
I am having many issues with BEx Broadcaster when it comes to scheduling.  Thought someone may be able to give me some advice here.
Ok, so I am scheduling about 20 web templates to output into PDF and be broadcasted over to the portal inbox of the user.  Its working in many cases...however several are giving me errors.  The errors seem to be found in rsrd_admin when I go to
'display logs'.  The error sort of looks like this.
    "RED CIRLCE HERE"      11/24/2009  17:21:20  AKSALVI       00000000000001568463
""GREEN CIRLCE HERE"     Explicit scheduling of setting DPHARBOR
""GREEN CIRLCE HERE"     1 packages for 03 available processes created
""GREEN CIRLCE HERE"     Starting parallel processing of package 1 (1 settings)...
""RED CIRLCE HERE"   Processing package with 1 settings (AKSALVI EN)
""RED CIRLCE HERE"   Processing setting DPHARBOR
""RED CIRLCE HERE"   Error while generating HTML
What could this error while generating HTML be and come from????
    Any thoughts.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Alerts to email when Bex Broadcaster Failed

    Hi Experts,
Currently we are broadcasting Business KPI reports to the users from SAP BI at a scheduled time.
These broadcast settings are based on webtemplate. Some times the broadcast setting which is scheduled will fail due to the most frequest errors like " Error while generating HTML" etc.
The issue is only temporary basis, next time the same error will not come and the issue is not reproducable. So is there a way we can configure the alerts to emails when the bex broadcast setting is failed.
Transaction to see logs of broadcast settings is RSRD_LOG.
    Thanks & best regards,
    Sudhakar.k

3 possible solutions that come to mind:
    1. Write custom ABAP program that checks RSR_PREC_SETT table and sends email when report failed entry is made, and schedule program to run periodically
    2. Create process chain that kick off Broadcaster report and would also notify if report has failed.
    3. You can also schedule RSR_PREC_SETTINGS_RESTART with Current date variant to run periodically and this job will restart any failed broadcaster reports from that day (stored in table RSR_PREC_SETT)
Check out this article for additional information:

  • Error in Execution of Bex Broadcaster

    Dear Gurus,
We are facing an issue where we have install are the required templates but when we try to execute BEx Broadcaster via Bex Query Designer 7.0 we face error (Portal runtime error.) however we are able to execute BEx Broadcaster via BEx Query Designer 3.x. Also, BEx Broadcaster via Bex Query Designer 7.0 is working fine in Dev and Test env. Facing trouble in Prod only.
    Pls suggest.
    thanks,
    Dhruv

    Hi Dhruv,
Please check default trace to get more information. It could be permission problem, etc. PRT error is a very generic message thrown by portal, which doesn't really tell much until you dig into the default trace.
    Cheers.

  • How to include Distribution list in Bex Broadcaster

    Hi experts,
Can anyone tell me how to include distribution list in bex broadcaster?
We have created a distribution list which we use in SBWP tcode for sending reports through mail.
I want to try broadcasting reports through Bex query designer and scheduling weekly. Although bex broadcaster
provides us the facility to enter the email ids of user but it is very tedious to type all the ids. Can i incorporate
the distribution list, which we have already created, in broadcaster?

    Just to close this topic.
I have reported a bug to Android project, because bottom-line they are responsible for the error - not SAP BEx.
Anyone interested can see the bug report here:

  • Dynamic variable in Bex Broadcaster

We have a mandatory variable as 'Date' in the report. While creating the variant in Bex Broadcaster for sending mails daily - the date gets saved & remains constant. We need the date to be changed dynamically everyday when the mail is sent.
I would like to know how should I achieve this. Thanks. Helpful ans will be appreciated.

    Hi,
You would need to create the Date variable as Customer Exit.
Populate the Date variable in CMOD by sy-datum or other logic, if u need. This will fix ur issue.
Steps: 1. Make the Mandatory (existing variable) to Customer Exit
               2. Choose "Variable can be Input-Ready"
               3. Write your code in CMOD for I_STEP = 1 to populate the sy-datum
If you do this, your existing variable will still be Mandatory, except the default value which will be shown in that is Current Date (Sy-datum). This should resolve your probs.

When i go to Business Explorer - Web Application Designer - Publish and click on In BEx Broadcaster ,an error message is displayed when this is loaded saying :
    <b>Error loading template 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE</b>
When I tried installing 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE an error message was displayed as :

This means that 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE is not available in delivered version .
Is this any other way to install this template or can this template be separately installed,if yes plz tell me how to do it.If this template cannot be installed separately then,is there no other way to activate BEx broadcasting functionality in BW .Kindly revert back at earliest as I am suffering with this issue since many days.my Email Id is [email protected] .
    Thanks,
    Saumya

    Hi,
Sorry for bothering you - see SAP Note 861803 if of any help.
    Symptom
In a BW 3.5 system, you want to define the Standard Web Templates and you call Transaction RSCUSTV11 to do this, however the system displays only the fields "Style sheet" and "Template properties".
    Other terms
    RSCUSTV11, RSCUSTV21, 0QUERY_TEMPLATE, 0ADHOC, 0BROADCASTING_TEMPLATE, 0ANALZYER, 0QUERY_TEMPLATE_BROADCASTING, 0DOC_TEMPLATE2, standard Web template
    Solution
In a BW 3.5 system, use Transaction RSCUSTV21 to maintain the Standard Web Templates.

  • BEx Broadcaster - Using a Workbook with multiple queries on different tabs

    Hi,
I was wondering if any has used Bex Broadcaster to broadcast a workbook that contains multiple queries on different tabs in the workbook.  I believe someone has mentioned that this was an issue in the past and I was wondering if this now a possibility with Bex Broadcaster
If you were able to do this successfully, please let me know.
    Thanks

    Hello
    Of course it is possible.
But, if you want to broadcast a workbook, you have to use a Precalculation Server.
Without precalculation server, workbooks cannot be precalculated and broadcasted.
More details, please check the note below:

  • BEx Broadcasting possible windows 7 and Office 2010

    Hi guys,
i have a question concerning Bex Broadcasting. We use two desktop Physical PCs with OS XP . The service is running on them. We would like to Upgrade to windows7 and Office 2010. Office 2010 is rolled out on them but windows 7 will be rolled out soon. i have compatibility concerns. The client PCs from where the chains will be exIs Bex Broadcaster working onecuted and also the PCs where the precalculation service is installed and the precalculation takes place will be updated to windows7. Is the broadcaster compatible with that? or are there any restrictions/limitations?
    Thanks and regards,
    Murat

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
Many have had issues, many have had success. The only way to diagnose is with details..."it will not sync correctly" only leaves us to guess. Here are some details that might help:
    1) Your BB Desktop Software version -- all 4 octets please
    2) Your BB OS level -- again, all 4 octets
    3) Your carrier/country
    4) What, exactly, happens when you try to sync? Can you configure and not sync? Can you not configure? Are there error messages? Details please to help us to help you.
Good luck and let us know!

  • When trying to EMAIL from BEX Broadcaster get a 400 bad HTTP request

When we try to run an email from BEX broadcaster, we get the message below.   We looked in the ICM and it says the request is too large, but when when I copy the request and paste it into the browser it works,  any ideals?
    400 Bad HTTP request
    Bad HTTP request
    Error:     -21
    Version:     7000
    Component:     HTTP_FILTER
    Date/Time:     Mon Apr 05 17:54:18 2010
    Module:     http_auth.c
    Line:     494
    Server:     biprd_BIP_11
    Error Tag:
    Detail:     illegal request

    Hi David,
Not exactly sure what the issue is here, but would like to give you some pointers that might help anyway. The error message you see in the ICM would be where I would start. You need to remember that the HTTP request is more than just the URL that you paste into the browser, the URL is one part of it, but there are a heap of other things that go into making the full HTTP request (e.g. POST data, header values etc...)
I would also refer you to this forum post: Re: 400 Bad HTTP request that references SAP Note 864878
    Hope this helps,
    Simon

  • Questions on Bex Broadcaster

    Hello All,
I have some questions regarding Bex Broadcaster. Can anyone please answer.
Is there a way to monitor Bex broadcaster to get informed in case that reports could not be sent off? If yes how?
Could this be automated (e.g. that we get an email if there was any issue)?
If Bex broadcaster is down while it should send out some reports, will the reports then be distributed later on when Bex broadcaster is up and running again?

    Srikanth,
As part of your support you could check transactions SOST and SCOT daily.  This will tell you if the braodcaster has not sent an email out to a certain recipient.
Im not sure if some how if you can put the process of sending emails in bex broadcaster in a process chain.  Then you can have a step which will send you a mail if the process fails.
    Thanks,
    Nick.
