Bex Broadcater issue

Hi,
When I try to open Bex broadcaster from Bex Query designer and RSRD_ADMIN, it is navigating me to empty internet explorer screen.
the link is
http://aaaa.bbbbbbbbb.com:0000/sap/bw/BEx?CMD=START_BROADCASTER&SETTING_ID=TEST2
But when I try to access below link Bex Adhoc analysis screen is opening in explorer screen from there I am able to do all Broadcasting settings.
http://aaaa.bbbbbbbbb.com:0000/sap/bw/BEx?CMD=START
But why the first link (for broadcasting) is not working.

Bex Hierarchy issue on Webi report

Hello Experts,
We are facing issues on use of Bex hierarchy in webi report,
Issue statement: We have webi report on bex query which have table and chart with input control on year and month to filter the report, table and chart uses hierarchy object to disply data. When we refresh report table and chart shows data with hierarchy on first level but once we check or uncheck any value from input control hierarchy in table and chart gets expanded and shows as flat structure. to get correct behaviour we have to collaps hierarchy.
Above behaviour happens for all report level filter like, block filter, drill filter, input control.
Please help me to know this is a bug or something wrong happened with development.

I have got SAP note which states this is expected behaviour hence closing the discussion.
1702356 - Hierarchy Nodes expanded automatically to all levels after selecting value in the input control in a webi report.

Bex Report issue - transaction data of type Char not dispalyed complete

Hi BI Expers ,
I have one issue related to Bex reports here
I have complete data loaded in DSO , there is one field Job Title which is having a length of 60 char . When I am executing the report in Bex Analyzer , the value for Job Title is getting truncated after 30 characters . Although full 60 chararacters are loaded in DSO still I am not able to present them in reports .
Can some one help here , whether this is Analyzer limitation or is there some setting to fix this issue .

Hi Anurag,
Check the Output length of the object that is giving out put as 30 charecters.
And check in Business Explorer tab option for BEx Description short, medium or High.

Upon googling i found that the issue was something to do with DEP, i tried to disable for iTunes only, but it does not allow me to, so i disable for the entire system and tried to execute, still the same problem.
Next i tried to run iTunes in WinXP SP2 compatibility mode, still the same issue. I've tried most the tricks in the book, is there anyone who has come across this issue and has been able to resolve them.
Due to this i'm unable to transfer data to my iPhone/iPod . Can someone help

I don't know that particular error, but iTunes requires Quicktime and will not work if QUicktime does not.
Could you go to your control panel (classic view) and try to open Quicktime preferences.
Post the full text of any error message.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar
These are bad news for Quicktime and should be uninstalled.
Once you have removed incompatible software, try removing QUicktime and installing the stand alone version.
Download the version of Quicktime that does not include iTunes:
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Remove QUicktime using the method in this article, just the QUicktime part.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
Restart your PC and install the stand alone Quicktime.
Check to see if it work and if it does try iTunes.
If you can't uninstall Quicktime, another step is needed.

Trouble-shooting SAP BEx authentication issues

Hi Experts,
When I am faced with an authorization issue in Business Explorer, it is quite troublesome as it is not as simple as executing SU53 and finding out the missing authorization objects. SU53 does not seem to work on Business Explorer (i.e. executing Queries, etc.).
In this instance, the user is running a query and receives the error message pop-up in Excel:
Error Specifying a value for variable Fiscal Period "Base Period"
I know this is an authorization issue as assigning a certain role corrects this and the Query will display to the user the proper fields to input values. However, what is the way I should go about trouble-shooting authorization issues such as these in the future? SU53 certainly doesn't work in this instance, is there something else I can use for Business Explorer?

BEx Browser Issue

Hi All,
I need help on a issue which users are facing in BEx Browser. I wasn't able to find any older threads for this issue, hence I have created this thread.
After a user logs into the BEx Browser, the application crashes without any error messages. Has anyone faced this issue before? If so, how was this resolved.
The version being used in the system is SAP BW 3.x. Please let me know what other information would be required.

Thanks for your reply and your suggestion, but the solution provided in the SAP Note seems to be for a system wide issue. Where as the issue we are facing seems to be happening for a few users only.
Authorization too doesn't seem to be the problem, as
1. some user with same authorizations don't face this issue, and
2. the users who do face this issue can see the logged in browser screen before the application crashes.
Can we generalize this as a problem with a front-end?

Go through SAP Note 972514 - Empty BEx Web Analyzer instead of BEx Broadcaster.
Symptom
You start the BEx Broadcaster from a BEx Web Application. The system displays the empty BEx Web Analyzer instead of the BEx Broacaster.
Solution
You must configure the message server of the ABAP Web Application Server in such a way that it sends HTTP return code 307 (temporary redirect - for HTTP 1.1) instead of HTTP return codes 301 (moved permanently; use new URL) or 302 (moved temporarily; use same URL).
Most Web browsers (such as MS Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox) interpret this in such a way that they send the POST parameters to the server that is the target of the HTTP redirect. Note that the use of HTTP 1.1 for the Web browser is mandatory because return code 307 is available only as of version HTTP 1.1.
Set the ms/redirect_version parameter to value 1 and restart your ABAP Web Application Server.
This parameter should be displayed after you restart.
Transaction SMMS
-> Goto -> Parameters -> Display (in all servers).
See Note 857596 for more details. You can use transaction RZ10 for the parameter change.

BEx workbooks - Issue with FIND in BEx

When user tries to FIND with * in BEx in BW production he is able to see other's workbooks.
How do we restrict the Find or disable the FIND in BEx for workbooks.

It is not possible to restrict this workbook search...or disable it...
your user should however only have access to the workbooks that your have assigned to him via the roles mechanism. It is via
this roles mechanism that you can prevent a user from accessing other users workbooks.

BEx login issue

Hi,
I am working on ECC 6.0. I am loging into BI System through Solution Manager. When I am loging into BEx it is asking for System credentials. I am unable to see the BI System there under the systems menu.

However, logging on to BW using the SAP logon-pad I can connect without having an issue.
This login issue through BEx is keep repeating. Some times it will work and some times it will throu the above error. But, never had prob to login through GUI.

Pls find my respoce to your questions as below.
When do you receive this error. Do you get it also when you open Analyzer from Start menu?
Iam facing this error when i access BEx Analyzer from srat menu and then clik on connect button in Excel and provide login details and then finally facing this error.
Have you checked your frontend installation? Is it all right?
iam able to connect to the same system through login pad, so i think everything is ok with front end.
Iam not sure...weather i answered ur question or not.
The same error persists for 70 and 35 Analyzer as well?
i have only 7.01 environemnt, where iam facing this error. we dont have 35 analyzer.

Bex-report issue

I created a query in Bex-Query Designer - 3.5.. Then publish that report in the Web by using Bex-Analyzer.
Suppose i have columns in the report like 'vendor' and 'PO Number'. When the cursor goes to 'vendor' column heading then im getting as <b>"Context Menu for vendor"</b> by default.
i dont want by default .. I want to make this by custome (like i want Vendor Analysis) . How can i get this

BEx report issue on setting offset value

Friends,
I have got a Bex reporting requirement as follows.
Given a Calendar week I have to show data for 5 Key figures for the next 3 calendar weeks. For ex: if I enter 05/2006 I have to show data for 05/2006, 06/2006 and 07/2006.
I thoght of using the Off Set parameter for all the Key figures, and for testing I did for 2nd set of Key figures with off set (1)..but these key figures are not showing any data.. Is it I am missing anything here ??

Hi,
The format of period you gave refers to month i believe. If it is right, check the offsets once again. If the user enters fiscal year period, it should be converted in to week period using an customer exit variable(if you don,t have 0CALWEEK) and set offsets.

Bex report issue - no applicable data found when we drill down on free char

Hi All,
We are facing some strange issue with one of the report.
when user run the report for a week (02/02/2009 - 02/08/2009) and then drill down on particular char its working fine (first time).after that when he is trying to change and execute the report for other week on the same instence ( 02/09/2008 - 02/15/2009) by clicking on refresh and passing new values to the variable its showing up correctly at the time of drill down on free char its showing as *no applicable data found.*
when he logoff the system completey and run the report for the week( 02/09/2008 - 02/15/2009) values it is showing up with values even tough he drill down on free char.
issue basically when he was trying to drill on free char by chaging different date values in the same instance by clicking on refreh and by entering diffrent values its showing up as not applicable data found.
but when he enters the values for different weeks each time by closing the system and relogin report is working fine and showing up data eventough he drill down on free char.
Please help me out!

You need to review SAP Note 1179647 - Performance: Network load in BEx Analyzer.
Apply this note. And than I suggest you installing latest SAP Gui 7.10 with BI addon Read Note 1085218
