BEx Maps

Hello,
at the moment we are using BEx Maps (Release SAP BW 3.5; Front-End Excel 2003).
We are facing following problem: after saving the workbook with the embedded map for documentation as a .xls file and reopening it, we get a map with default values that means a empty grey area as map without content.
Does anybody know a solution for this problem and could help us?

I dont think the SHP files get embedded into the workbook with data - if you have queries along with the map - are the queries refreshing ..
Also try putting the map into a web template and check if the same appears the same way...
Also what is your front end patch level ?

How to use Bex Map??

Hi
I'm new to using Bex Map.
Can anyone explain to me step by step how to use Bex Map.
I have created a cube in RSA1 already. All the data is loaded.
I know on the object on the business explorer tab there is things that need to be done there.
Can someone explain to me how? The steps? Also where does one get the actual maps?
Will reward anyone that shows me in detail how to do it.

BEx Map in Excel: Print only result area

Hi experts,
I am in BEx Map - Excel, and I am trying to print the result area ONLY, without key figures, legend and so on...
Print Preview in Excel shows the key figures on the left, the legends on the right and a little version of the map (as if way too zoomed out) in the middle.
I know there is a post dedicated to the "print only result area" but its solution is "web only"

Attaching a map in BEx-Excel is different from attaching a chart. When attaching a map, you can't choose in which sheet/workbook the map will be displayed. A new sheet is automatically added to the workbook holding the BEx query, period.

BEx map: dynamic areas in a map?

I have one question reg. BEx map: How could I realize dynamic areas for a map? Let's say I have a rectangular area describing some phenomenon. The end-user should be able to enter new areas.
All the dynamic geographical types refer points, not areas. I'd like to have a characteristic describing the area (polygon).
Any hint how I could solve it?

Switch between layers in a BEx MAP

Hi,
   Does anyone have an idea how to switch between layers in a BEx Map? And manipulate the attributes on the MAP in WAD. I ever saw a demo of such a web template which could do that.

BEX MAP

Hi all,
I'm try to configure BEX MAP to work with infoobject 0REGION.
I have read all documentation about BEX MAP but I have a problem :
The system don't make the link between SAPBWKEY from .dbf file and content of the query (caracteristic 0REGION).
0REGION is a compounded caractéristique with 0COUNTRY.
In the result of my query, I can see FR/01 FR/02 ..and so one.
So, I have encoded FR/01 FR/02 in the admin00.DBF file and upload it in infoobject 0REGION... without success.
The table /BI0/TREGION contains 0COUNTRY,0REGION and language.
Do I must specified language in SAPBWKEY ?

You don't need to specify the language in the SAPBWKEY in the admin00.DBF f
I'm havin' a similar problem, I create a webtemplate with de Bex 3.5 and the geocharacteristic 0region display just fine in the map item, it shows all value of regions for the especific country, but it you use the same query or view as dataprovider in 2004s it just shows a continental view, don't know what it's happening if I figure out let you know

Shape file - BEx Map

Hi gurus
can anybody tell how do i work with the shape files in BEx Map.
I am using BEx Map to display the geographics information of country, sales organization and region.
But i am facing a problem in editing the shape files.
Any help....

Vijay,
There will be three files you will need.
.shp - this is the shape file and PLEASE DO NOT DO ANYTHING TO THIS FILE
.inx - Index file - PLEASE DO NOT EDIT OR TRY OPENING THIS FILE
.dbf- this will read as a foxpro table and can be opened in Excel.
Open the same and against the characteristic values displayed - input the corresponding values you will be using.
Example for Delhi your master data code might be DEL.
put in the corresponding codes in the BWMAP column or similar column and save the file.
Now upload the file into the Bex Tab of InfoObject. Check the character is geo relevant and then upload the files.
Now you can get the map. One way to test the same is to open the query containing the Geo relevant InfoObject and then clicking on the BeX toolbar and selecting map. You should be able to see your map.

I have uploaded different country maps (for each map three files: .dbf, .shp and .shx)to the InfoObject 0COUNTRY. When I now run the query in excel or in the web I only get the whole world displayed, even I have only countries from europe selected. Then I have deleted all world maps in 0COUNTRY, but the reports still show the whole world map.
Have I to do some settings in the customizing or somewhere else?

Hi,
try to go into infoobject (0country in your case?) and modify under "Bex Tab" shape files -> just delete the unwanted from there.
They will be deleted from server as well.

Bex MAP issue in WAD

Dear All,
I have an issue what I do not understand.
In Web Appl. Designer I executed my web template and its behaviour was strange.
When I selected Color Shading as displaying the different sales amount for countries, the map appeared and the shading was OK.
BUT when I selected the BAR chart , the bar charts remained but the map disappeared in web.
Does anybody meet with this issue?

Bex map cartography

Hello BW gurus,
How can I attach a map into my sales by state query? My query has the 0country info-object and I uploaded the 3 shapefiles (.dbf, shp and shx) in it from ERSI CD.
I want to use WAD. Also I am not sure about the AXL file. Where do i save it(IGS) and what would be the content? Please can someone help me with this? I have read all the online documentation but cannot make work.

BEx Map - File without SAPBWKEY

Hi!
I want to display a map. Therefore I'm using shapefiles, which are not delivered by ESRI.
They do not contain the SAPBWKEY, so there is no connection between the BW and the maps. However, there is a column called bw-key, which contains the information that I need for sapbwkey.
Does anybody know how to get a sapbwkey - column into the dbf-file or how to handle the problem otherwise?

first option would be to maintain the SAPBWKEY directly in the dbf-file with an editor like excel (save as dbf-file), this means to add a column and maintain the values for reach row.This is a possible way as it is described in the SAP-documentation. You should make sure. that the column is named SAPBWKEY (not BW-KEY). For me this option did not work (probably due to some dbf-formating issues). After uploading the shapefiles to the info object, the data was not correctly assigned to the map-polygons.
What worked was another possible way, e.g. to maintain the SAPBWKEY in the Arcview software delivered by ESRI. Using the Arcmap -application.
-Rightclick on the respective layer, then 'Open Attribute Table'
-Press Button 'Options': Add field. Name = SAPBWKEY, 'Type' depending on your characteristic
-Next Step: Editor ( a menue you need to load into ArcMap) --Start Editing
-Then again: Rightclick on the respective layer, then 'Open Attribute Table'
-Now you can maintain values for the SAPBWKEY
-Editor: Stop Editing (save changes)
Rightclick on the respective layerData-Export data
The last step exports the modified shapes files, which can then imported to your info object.

BEX map does not represent data, neither as hue nor as circle or bar chart.

Hello together, I hope myself can someone help.
Under the Web Application designer (WAD), release 2004s, support Package 12, Patch 1, revision 314, I get the pure map of the world in the report only indicated.
If I select care in the Web Item of the Item "map" as renderer value bar chart [BAR], then I get only one legend indicated and otherwise nothing.
Same applies also with the pie chart. A test, where I all countries with those data available are not in a sharp blue indicate let, I get in the Web report the map of the world indicated where all countries blue colored am.
With the counter proof with the WAD finally release 3,5 functions it with to same DATA perfectly the Provider. Also the bar charts are indicated.
The associated of characteristic info object is duly maintained as info object with static geo characteristic. The shapefile DBF is maintained and into the BDS high-loaded also with the appropriate, adapted SAPBWKEY (which proves a functioning in the 3.5er WAD).
Super would if be someone a solution would have.

Bex MAP - Showing 0plant

Dear all,
i have problem showing reports in plant detail.
my query is as follows:
country plant quantity unit
when i have make query as: country quantity unit (without plant) i can report query in map in wad successfully.
however when i add 0plant in to the report, it gives an error,
MAP_ITEM_1 map item 1 does not show map layer as there are more than 1 gis-related characteristic.
how to configure wad to show country map and plants, and quantity in map?

i have two queries, one including 0country, one including 0plant.
in wad i have two layers in one map, one query with 0country, one query with 0plant,
now i can see the map and i see the legend for both country and map.
however i do not see the results for 0plant?
how come?

Web Interface for Bex Maps in WAD 7.0

Hi Everyone,
I have a requirement to be able to display values in a table when an area on a map is clicked.
This functionality is supported in 3.5 WAD where a property for a map layer could be set to affect values in corresponding tables within a template .The name of the property is 'Map Interaction Controls' ; value 'Click on Map to filter data providers'. Once this value is chosen, in another property 'Affected list of data providers' you specify the dataprovider (of the table) which will be affected by a user clicking on the area of a map.
In WAD 7.0, the only property I see is 'Affected list of data providers' for a specific map layer. I do not see the 'Map Interaction Controls' property. I have tried working with the other settings(properties) available for a layer, but none of them seem to work for invoking the interaction between the map and the table
Does anyone know if the functionality offered in 3.5 is still supported in 7.0? Or if there is a workaround for the function to work?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and points would be rewarded!

MAP activate in the BEX/Standard query

Hai,
I want to make map in BEx report of one my query(based on activation of standard business content).
As per rule I have one info object(0SOLD_TO) in QUERY for map.But map is not coming in my report. The geographical type is dynamic geo-characteristics with values attribute.
This is first time I am making map.
I.e I want to make map for any one query.
