Bex query: Java Web with neverending hourglass in Value Selection screen

Hi,
Situation:
In BEX I use Unit Conversion for Time Keyfigures:
This works as supposed in Analyzer. I instantly get the "Select Values" box:
The problem:
When I do the same in Java Web I get the "hourglass" which spins forever and I can only close the web browser window:
In ABAP Web (which we don't use, I just tested it there), the Value Selection works as expected.
--> Any idea how to fix this issue in Java Web?
br
Alex

Thanks Bhanu for the quick reply.
I've already found my solution from the following thread:

  • Error When Launcging BEX query into Web Browser

    Hi all,
When Launching Bex query into Web browser from BEx Analyser it's giving this error message. We are using Bex 3.x tools.
    Technical Information for Message:
    Error loading template 0ADHOC
      Notification Number BRAIN 276
    Any help will appreciated!.
    Thanks,

If you want to continue to use the ABAP-based runtime, create the template using the Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x).
The templates called using the new Web Application Designer have new objects that are independent of the objects saved using Web Application Designer 3.x. This means that, unlike the old templates, they can no longer be called using parameter template_id=abc. Instead, you can address them from an iView using template=abc and they use the Java Web runtime in the portal. Only the old templates can be executed in transaction RSRT.
In Web Application Designer 3.x, you can use parameter template_id=abc to call saved objects.
Note 1014795 - Error BRAIN 276 when you execute a Web template
    Hope it Helps

  • How to edit the properties for existing variables in BEX query, so that I can get multiple input selections

    Dear fellow developers,
I'm trying to edit an existing variable using BEX query, so that it can allow multiple input selections.
As you can see in the screenshot attached, the option is selectable during creation.
However, during editing of an existing field, this field (Details -> Basic Settings -> Variable Represents) is not selectable.
Does anyone knows why, and how to remedy this?

Yes you can do it at the table level.
Go to SE11 enter table name as RSZGLOBV.
Enter the technical name of variable in VNAM field..You need to change the value in VPARSEL column.
Please make sure to get the where used list of this variable so that you can know the impact,if something goes wrong.
Also change it in DEV and then transport across the landscape.
PS:Same thing has been described in this blog as well

  • Error with bex query in web

    Good morning together,
i have trouble again with a BEx Query in our BW landscape.
I have created a query with a lot of key figures. When i call it in BEx (Excel) i get data; everything is ok.
But when i say, execute this query in web, or try to call the query in connection with a web template i get the error message "no data was found".
It is the same selection what i choose in the variable screen. How can i solve this error?
    Thanks to all.

    Thanks for your reply Suman,
the WT is ok. Have checked the RSRT too. i get everytime the message
    "No Data available
Could not find any data to display. This might be due to the current selection of variable or filter values".
although in BEX (Excel) I get data with the same selection.

  • R/3 Infoset -- Bex Query -- Universe -- WebI / Xcelsius

    Hi there,
i got a hint that it should be possible to connect an Infoset with a Bex Query, but i'm not sure if they mean a R/3 Infoset or a BI Infoset. I know that a connection from an universe to an BI Infoset works but does this also work for an R/3 Infoset ?
    Thanks Sebastian

    Hi,
This Infoset is an BI Infoset not R/3 infoset.
We dont have an directoption to connect either WebI/Xcelsius with R/3.If you want to connect Xcelsius with R/3 we have to us Data Federator. Here we have an option to use FM,Infoset Query.

  • Which is better to use: BEx query or Web Application as an iView in portal?

    Hi gurus!
Are there any experienced opinions, which is better - publish a BEx query in portal or publish a BEx Web Application in portal? Is it easier to alter the layout attributes etc. if I create a BEx Web Application first before publishing?
What is the way of fixing for example filter item height if I publish BEx query in portal - is there a Web Application that it uses anyhow which I can fix? Or can I use in that case iView -properties in portal?
    Thankful for advice
    Sari

ok, means i can use jsp:useBean tag for all my
classes that are not actually bean. so it will be
instantiated at run time and provide efficiency .No. Jsp:useBean is used for java bean components.
    >
but when should i use import statement in my jsp and
it happen at translation time so will it create any
type of burden for my code if i import multiple
classes. For non-java beans, you need to import the classes, period.
    It's not a burden, it's a necessity.

  • Calling a BW Bex Query in Web Dynpro ABAP

    Hi Team,
I'm trying to call a BW Bex query in my web dynpro screen. The Web Dynpro is written in our ERP (ECC 6.0) system. I have specific parameters and values in my web dynpro context which I want to pass to a BW query and then display the actual query in my web dynpro. I found an element BIApplicationFrame but don't know if that is the correct way to display the query. Some questions:
    1) How do I pass the username/password for the BW system in the Web Dynpro written in ERP?
    2) How do I pass the parameters to the query
    3) How is the security and roles managed. The web dynpro is enables as an iView in the SAP Portal.
    Thanks much for your guidance.
    Regards
    Sanjay

    Petr:
I managed to pass the selection variables to the query through BIApplicationFrame. This is how I did it.
    1) Added the BIApplicationFrame UI element to the View of the Webdynpro application and named it ZBIQUERY with the following properties relevant to my system.
    - dataProviderStateName property is set to my query name which is 'ZPUR_M02_Q08'
    - dataProviderStateType is set to 'Query'.
    - server is set to 'housapdbw.noble.cc:8000'
    - templateId is set to 'ZPUR_M02_W02'
    - variableScreen is Unchecked.
    2) Added two attributes to the view under the attributes tab. They are
    M_APPL_FRAME RefTo CL_WD_BIAPPLICATION_FRAME
    M_METHOD_HANDLER RefTo IF_WD_BI_APPLFRAME_METHOD_HNDL
    3) Then add the following code in the method WDDOMODIFYVIEW.
    data:
    lt_parameters type if_wd_bi_applframe_method_hndl=>tt_name_value,
    ls_parameters type if_wd_bi_applframe_method_hndl=>t_name_value.
    define add_parameter.
    clear ls_parameters.
    ls_parameters-name = &1.
    ls_parameters-value = &2.
    append ls_parameters to lt_parameters.
    end-of-definition.
    if first_time = abap_true.
    wd_this->m_appl_frame ?= view->get_element( 'ZBIQUERY' ).
    wd_this->m_method_handler ?= wd_this->m_appl_frame->_method_handler.
    endif.
Please note that the selection screen on my query has Select-options and its name is
XREF_NUM0001. I am passing a value of '11111' to it as shown below.
    refresh lt_parameters.
add_parameter 'CMD' 'PROCESS_VARIABLES'. " This is for Execute button
add_parameter 'SUBCMD' 'VAR_SUBMIT'. " This one also for Execute Button
    add_parameter 'VAR_NAME_1' 'XREF_NUM0001'. " Name of my select-option
    add_parameter 'VAR_OPERATOR_1' 'EQ'.
    add_parameter 'VAR_SIGN_1' 'I'.
    add_parameter 'VAR_VALUE_LOW_EXT_1' '11111'. " Value for my select-option
    wd_this->m_method_handler->execute_command( lt_parameters ).
    endif.
The above code needs to be added before the view is called in th is method.
    Hope this helps.

  • Display Bex Query in Web

    Hi,
I want to display the Bex query directly in web. What are the possible ways that i can do, for the user to view the report in the web.Can anyone tell me how to configure RRMX in this case or how to do the settings for user to navigate from user menu to the required BW report directly from the SAP work bench.?I have tried linking from User Menu where the java servlets blocking the navigation.? Do i need to follow any configuration for this too?
    Thank You,
Edited by: sunanda G on Feb 28, 2011 9:59 AM

    Hi,
There are multiple ways to display the query in Web:
->Web Analyzer: In the query designer you need to click on the web symbol it will take you to run the query in web in the explorer. For this your server need to be setup contact your basis team for the same.
->WAD: After creating a query, you can display the same using Web application designer. Here you need to check the Java Settings to be installed.
->EP: You can copy the link generated from the query can be copied and displayed in the Enterprise portal.
There is a search option available in the SDN , you can search for more information regarding the same.
    Hope this helps...

  • Custom Hierarchy sub selection from BEx Query to Webi

    Hi All,
The client has requested that from a hierarchy only certain accounts / account nodes be brought into the Webi report.
I have made a Account Number Filter in the BEx query containing the nodes that the client has requested. In order to get a hierarchical view, I activated the hierarchy display through BEx and selected the hierarchy the the selection of the nodes came from.
I ran the report through Analyzer and all works - the only nodes that show are the nodes that were filtered on through query designer and all lower nodes below it. It displays as a hierarchy properly.
When running in Webi, I bring in the hierarchy object for Account number and the report crashes giving me the general Webi error. (I have added a screenshot).
In conclusion, what I am trying to do is take a sub selection of certain account nodes from a hierarchy and display those nodes with all lower levels below in a hierarchy. It works in BEx, not in Webi.
If this won't work in Webi, any idea how to build this in BEx so it will work in Webi?

I haven't tried this myself yet - but did you register your Google API key?  Please see Google Maps in SDK Extension

  • Query related to BEx query and web template migration

    Hi,
We are upgrading our BW system from BW 3.5 to 7.3 and also planning to migrate the existing BEx 3.X queries and web templates to BEx 7.x version.
We have BEx queries and web templates published on enterprise portal in roles.
My query is that after we migrate BEx 3.5 queries and web templates to new version, do we need to re-publish these (migrated) queries and web templates on the portal or users will be able to access the reports without any issues.
or are there any post migration steps that we need to follow so that reports (with migrated version) are available to the end users through portal as before.
    Thanks,

  • BW Bex query and Webi question

    Hi All.
Just a quick question on Bex queries. We are selecting a Bex query as a source for universe. However on the webi side we only want to see a subset of the data.
    1) The question is Would this rerun the entire BEX query on the BW side ? Or is there a better way to design the universe ?
    2) Also are there any best practices on how to desing Webi reports from BW BEX queries and also Infocubes etc ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi puneet,
The WebI builds a query on the BEx results. The query is related only to those items used in the WebI report. However, the BEx query must have the results in it, as the WebI does not execute it. I am not aware of a best practices document.
