Bex Query Variants Information

Hello,
I have 15 variants created for a Bex Query - QUERY1, I would like to know which SAP Tables does this variants get stored. Out of these 15 variants, I would also like to know among these which are Global Vs Personal variants.
Could you please share your inputs.

I have checked the Query in table RSRPARAMETRIZA , I have only found 8 variants in this table.
But when I opened the same query in the Bex Analyzer, I see 15 variants. And these are not my variants to think that the additional variants are my personal varaints.
Can I know why I will be seeing only less varainats in this table RSRPARAMETRIZA, when it have more variants? Is this the only table which the Bex Query to Variants relationship.
Please let me know, if we have any other additional tables?

thanks, I found my query variants RSRPARAMETRIZA.
In RSRPARAMETRIZA there aren't information about single variable who make the variant!
In RSRVARIANT I find only variants I have created with Business explorer 3.5.
All variants of queries I have created with BEx 7 aren't in RSRVARIANT,
Should I have them in RSRVARIANT?!
or There is another table for those information about variant query of BEx 7.0...

Variable Selections in BEx Query Variants

I am trying to save a variant for a BEx query that uses a floating date range. I want the date range to move with the calendar. I r/3 this is done with the variable selection. In BW 3.5, I don't see how this is possible. I only see options for TVARVC which are user exit selections. Can someone point me in the right direction.

Hi Kevin
Your requirment is that date range should move with calendar (ex. In first week , the date range should be from 1 to 7 of the current month & in second week the date range should be from 1 to 15 of current month) ...if it is like this then you can go ahead with - create a variable and do the coding with sydatum (system date ) and embed the required logic. But if your requirement is completely random then you can not use this.

BEX Query variant - how to make it Global ?

We have a problem that we did not have in 3.x. In NW04s, when some one saves a query variant, it can be seen/accessed only by that person. We have a need to make it global so that other users in the division can use the variant to run the query. Does anybody know to make this work?
I looked at the table RSRPARAMETRIZA and the field PERSONAL is always set to 'X' for variants created in BEX (using new BEX tool). We tried to blank this out (for testing) to see if the variant becomes global. But it did not help, in fact after this change whenever I choose this variant it kicks me out and I have to login again.
Any input/workaround is appreciated.

As of NetWeaver 2004s variants (created in the BI70 runtime) are stored as an XML string inside of the table RSRPARAMETRIZA. In BW3.5 and before they were stored along with ABAP variants within the table VARI.

Bex Query variants not working

Hello Experts,
I have a unique problem with one of my queries, the query variants which are created before Nov 1 are not fetching any vaules instead it gives a message MAKE ENTRY IN ALL THE FIELDS......
the variants which are created in Nov are working fine.....we have not done any upgrade....
does anyone faced this kind of problem? what needs to done to get back the variant values in the selection screen.
Any help is highly appreciated.

Was there a change to an InfoObject that is in the InfoProvider that is also one of the query input options?
e.g. IO ZHARA used to be defeined as a Char with a length of 4, but was changed after Nov 1 to Char, length of 8.
If you change an IO like this that is in the variant, that will render the variant unusable.
There is a program that checks for variants that have been broken like this, and another that you enter the query's technical name and it repairs the variant.
Try a search on SDN for something like "query variant program". I'll post the program names after I get back in the office tomorrow.

BEx Query output in Enterprise Portal using "Information Broadcasting"

BEx query with variant from ABAP

Hello,
I'm looking for possibility to start BEx query with variant (variant is created with tx RSRT) from ABAP. There are some funktion modules, which start queries (launch excel), for example RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL or RSSEM_QUERY_LAUNCH, but they are ending with short dump, when there are variables in the query. Is there any standard FM, which starts the query with variant or accepts parameters?

the short dump was my fault, I've passed query name instead of genuniid to the RSAH_LAUNCH_EXCEL.
What I'm trying to do is to I'll start BEx query with parameters (I don't want to get selection-screen from the query, I need to fill it from ABAP).
Here is my example, which is not working.

How to Ignore Fiscal Year Variant in BEx Query displayed with FISCYEAR?

Hi All,
I am developing a report.
In which I have taken Fiscal Year in columns.
When I executed the report Fiscal Year is showing with Fiscal Year Variant, I mean it is displaying as K5/2009.
Please let me know the settings how to ignore Variant? I mean Fiscal Year should show 2009 only.

Hi,
Fiscal year variant is compounded to Fiscal year. So in Bex query output it will be the format.
In case you need to remove the fiscal year variant you need to write customer Exit code.

Refresh BEx-Query with variant

Dear all,
i have a question about refreshing Queries with variants.
To refresh a BEx-Query (BW3.5) in a Workbook with VBA is no problem.
For example:
Run "SAPBEX.XLA!SAPBEXrefresh", False, myRange
But is there a possibilty to refresh a BEx-Query with a variant (also with VBA)?
My target is to create a VBA-Tool:
1 which user can select a single Query and the available variant.
2 Then push a VBA-Button
3 After the selection no Variable-Screen will pop-up
and the refreshing is completed.

What i need is to refresh a Query with variant (saved variable-values for a query e.g. the name of the variant is "ZMYVARIABLES").
The user should not select an existing variant (ZMYVARIABLES)
manually with Shift+F5 (Get Variant) on the Query-Variable POPUP-Screen.
What i need is a codefragment which implement that all.

Variants in BEx Query.

I've created a variant on a Bex Query. When I run the query in the browser, I see a complete list of all variants created by everyone in our team for that query. I really want to restrict the variants created by user to be displayed for that user. How can I do this?

Hi,
first of all, u can save variants for web reports globally (for one report, visible for all users) and locally (user specific variant).
Global variant: At the selection screen u choose "Save as variant". Disable "save as user variant". There u can enter a discription and a technical name. The variant is visible for all users.
Local Variant: At the selection screen u choose "Save as variant". Enable "save as variant". Enter only the description without a technical name. The variant is only visible by the author of this variant.
The same feature is available for BEx Analyzer 7.0 on SP 16.

Creating a Universe on Bex Query --- Information Design Tool 4.0

I am creating a Universe on a BeX Query, based on my understanding from the documentation i dont have to create a data foundation layer and i can directly call the connection in the Business Layer.
when I create a business layer and select OLAP connection (BICS connection), I get an error "this connection is not supported".
I was trying to look for a solution but i haven't found anything yet. Did anyone else encounter this issue. Please Share.

HI there,
I read somewhere that the support for BEx Queries are done via Relational Connection. However, the BICS connection is only available via OLAP connection.
I was able to successfully create an OLAP Connection with BEx Queries. However when I do a Business Layer with this OLAP connection it says ERROR, not supported.
I havent tested creating a relational and thus having a Data Foundation yet as I am still have issues with my installation with ports.
Anyway, let me know if you are able to create a relational connection.
I'd be interested to hear your experience.

Error while trying to Open and Delete a BEx Query in Query Designer.

Hi Experts,
I have been facing this issue with BEx Query in Designer mode for a couple of days now in Development Environment in BI 7.0.
I would like to Delete an unwanted BEx Query because I need to give it's name to another BEx Query.
Whenever I try to Open this Query in BEx Query Designer to Delete, it gives out an error saying:
"An error occurred while communicating with the BI server.
As a result of this error, the system has been
disconnected from the BI server.
Detailed Description:
STOP: Program error is class SAPMSSY1 method : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
STOP: System eror in program CL_RSR and form GET_CHANMID-01 - (see long text)"
Details text is as below:
Diagnosis
This internal error is an intended termination resulting from a program state that is not permitted.
Procedure
Analyze the situation and inform SAP.
If the termination occurred when you executed a query or Web template, or during interaction in the planning modeler, and if you can reproduce this termination, record a trace (transaction RSTT).
For more information about recording a trace, see the documentation for the trace tool environment as well as SAP Note 899572.
I have tried with SAP Note 899572, but still it's the same.
Has anyone faced similar issue? Could you please let me know if you have better ideas or solution?

Two problmes between Crystal Reports 2008 and Bex Query

Hi Gurus.
I have two problems with Crystal Reports 2008 when It obtains data from a Bex Query (SAP MDX query connection).
1)     I have defined some Parameters Fields using the follow options:
Type: String
List of Values: Dynamic
Value Options Level1:
                     Show on (Viewer) Panel :Editable
                      Prompt text: <text>
                      Sort Order: Ascending by value
                      Prompt With description Only : False
                      Optional Prompt: True
                      Allow multiple values: True
                      Allow discrete values: True
                      Allow range values: False
When I execute the report with the client of Crystal Reports 2008 (the developer tool), in the initial screen shows a list box where I can select the values from the left box and add it to the left box (as a usually filter). When the number of options (LOV) is more than the maximum of the system, I have a input box bellow the list box, where I can insert any value (manually) and a button to insert it into the left box. When I publish the Report in the infoview, this filter is modified and the input box where I can introduce manually values is not showed and I can insert only the values showed in the list box, it causes that I can`t select a lot of values that is in the master data of SAP BW, because they arenu2019t listed in the list box.
There is any option to ability this option in the infoview.
2)     My Bex query, have a date filter with variable in the restricted key figures, when I execute a Crystal Reports, the infoview (and the Crystal Reports 2008 designer) ask me 2 times the same date, first only the date and second the date and the rest of parameters (introduced in the report of Crystal Reports).
Why I need insert the date 2 times? How can I modify the Crystal Report for ask me only one time all the parameters?.

1) Yes, the parameters are created in the Crystal Reports designer. I have created the parameters in the Crystal Report because I use the same Bex Query to create some Crystal Report, in other case, I will need create some Bex Query.
2)The Bex query has the date filters and I have created some filters in Crystal Reports designer, the date filter from the Bex query is created automatically in the Crystal Report Designer but I don't use it, I haven't created it anytime. I use my filters only in the record selection. The date filters from the Bex query is showed as Static, and I can`t delete it, if I modify the parameter to dynamic or static with values, at first step ask me again static without values and the second step of the report execution ask me the parameter as I have defined in Crystal Reports Designer, my parameters fields are dynamic. A lot of reports have subreport, but I have created one of them without subreport (to trial) and the Crystal Reports ask me the date filters at first execution, and when I insert the date filters, in the second step, ask me the date filters again and my parameters fields again.
