Bex report on Multi Provider Long Text issue

Hi All,
I have a report that running on a multiprovider and I have a field that I use as a selection parameter. I changed the settings for this field's info object settings to "long text" to see long description in the pop up search window. However setting change worked for all the other reports that are running on cubes and DSO s but I still see short description when I run the multiprovider report.
Is there any settings need to be changed for multiproviders to see long desc. ?
I apprciate any help with points

Open your query, and select your infoobject and change the display properties-> text view as-> Medium-Length text

Bex report doesn't display full text information......

Hi Experts,
My bex report is not displaying full text information.
I have set that particular infoobject length as 40 and also have selected long text and Long Description in Bex Tab of the InfoObject.
In my DSO the data is available in complete lenght but in my Bex report it just displays half information
Instead of displaying Service Order Released its displays Service Order Rel
Can anyone help me to resolve this issue please.

Hello,
Setting up the BEx Property for Object, is not sufficient enough to display in the query output. You can always overwrite the object level settings in the query designing.
Moreover, when you create a query, system always overwrite your object level settings and apply the query level settings.
Make sure, you have selected Long Text in the query for that characteristic.

Does BEX Report supports Multi Languages????

Dear Gurus,
Does Bex report supports Multi Languages???? I mean, I had developed a report for the client and client wants the report for their different locations globally. Is there any way in BI, so that we can provide the same report into Spanish, French....

Sure. It is supported.
Just a point to be mentioned here.
You have to maintain the laguage desired installed on ABAP side first.
You can chck this on RZ10 - Parameter: zcsa/installed_languages.
Ex: zcsa/installed_languages - ED
it means English and Deutsch
Well, open Query Designer. On Logon screen, select the language desired, like Spanish - ES.
After that, go to each keyfigure and characteristic of the query and on Properties -Description Field (Descripción on spanish),
put the spanish name of the object.
Save the query and test on both languages (original and spanish or french)...
This will solve your issue.

Iw22 long text issue

hi,
I am facing a strange issue in long text creation and saving in iw22 that whenever i am changing the long text or adding any line with the existing long text it is showing the reported by field's id of iw22 in long text user id place.
In spro there is a setting where from we can add an option to track the user id and time stamp of every one time change in long text in iw22 or iw21.so logically if i am changing the long text it should retrieve my id whereas it is retreiving the id which is mentioned in the reported by field in iw22.
I debugged a lot through the program working behing it but left with no suitable explanation.
Can anyone please help and let me know if any thing I should do extra to get the actual reason for this.
Please help!!!.

BEx report : Time diff HH:MM average Issue

Hello Guys
below is my Issue with BEx report.
I have a table with has d1 and d2 and t1 and t2.
I want the diff between them in only HH:MM, using any of the function modules.
I have got the HH:HH value into my DSO.
Then I converted the HH:HH into HH:MM in the BEx.
Now my report requirement.
I want to display the report with yearly , monthly and daily information -
let say my boss wants to compare Average time ( HH:MM) between June and July of 2007.
the report should be
year ++++++++ month ++++++ daily ++++++++ rec#++++++++ diff
2007++++++++ June++++++++ 01++++++++ 123++++++++ 31.36
2007++++++++ June++++++++ 01++++++++ 124++++++++ 11.23
2007++++++++ June ++++++++ 03 ++++++++ 152 ++++++++ 18.21
2007++++++++ July ++++++++ 01++++++++ 157 ++++++++ 12.27
2007++++++++ July++++++++ 08 ++++++++ 124 ++++++++ 15.33
now when you look at the above report layout.....what i want is to display the average time ( diff) for month of june and july.
so the average time diff of the month of june will be ( total time / record count ). same for july.
so the result should be for
JUNE - (32.36 + 11.23 + 18.21) / 3
JULY - (12.27+15.33) / 2
also it should convert the decimals (MM) into hours after 60.
I am getting the sub total for month June as ((32.36 + 11.23 + 18.21) / 3).
Its not converting the MM in HH even after 60 Min. say for example its showning 40:67. but the correct value should be 41:07
hope you got my issue.could you please suggest the solution as to how can i get the correct value under the month sub- total.

would it be possible to calcuate HH:MM from HH:HH in the transformation.

Report on multi provider

hi ,
i have created a report on a multi provider which contains 1 basic cube and 3 trans cubes.
when i generate a report on this mp i am getting the report in this manner .the field r not coming on the same line.

like this i am getting.i want see them on the same .
can anybody suggest me a solution.
and what si the use of integration tab in multi provider.why do we need to check some of the chars in that option.

Hi Sridhar,
1)In Multiprovider Tab Characteristics there is a button: "Identification", here the system ask you to define how the different IO of the different cubes have to be related. If the cubes are identic you have to flag all the flag for the same IO for every cube (pay attention to IO and Nav Attribute).
2)When an IO is in a Cube but it is not present in the other cubes, for avoid the null symbol in query, you have to right click on the Key Figures on your query and select "Properties --> Constant Selection" or, in case of RKF, select "Constant Selection" for the IO in the RKF.

Maintaining role detailed description(i.e long text) issue

Dear Experts,
Can anyone help me out with the issue which i'm facing while maintaining role detailed description(i.e long text) .
In standard GRC approver screen, on click on any technical role it opens role details popup where we have one tab namely detailed description.
Can any one let me know where to maintain that role detail description or from where (any table)it fetches the role detailed description?

what SP are you on?
This role detailed description is maintained at backend system (PFCG) during role creation.
This information is later replicated to SAP GRC BRM (role detailed description as on your screen shoot) during role rep sync jobs.
This data can be also maintained in SAP GRC (define stage) during role creation.
If I remember correctly from SP14 this information once updated in BRM is later populated to ECC (both way sync).

Reporting on Blocks of Long Text - Netweaver 7.0

Hi all,
I have read the forums and especially Eugene Khusainov's blogs on modelling and reporting long texts (> 60 chars) in BW - however this all seems to apply to version 3.5. Does anyone know whether the situation for loading long texts has improved in netweaver V7.0? Or is it still necessary to create multiple attributes of 60 chars each?
If so, is there a limit on how many of these can be created? Or is this indefinite? I suspect my requirements could stretch to many hundreds of characters as a block of text to be reported.
Are there also performance and best practise implications in keeping huge blocks of text in BI? presumably the long text limit was set at 60 chars for a good reason ie that it is not good practise to fill up BI with strings of text..?

Thanks for your answer.
However I've realised that Eugene's solution will probably not help me. My requirement is to actually report on blocks of text - for example, the users want a transcript of a call centre call within a report.
Eugene's example will work for a description (ie a long text attached to a characteristic) but my requirement is not a text description in the 'traditional' sense - the 'block of text' needs to be reported on as if it is a separate characteristic within the cube. At the moment the only solution I can see, is to create multiple characteristics of 60chars each, and actually load these blocks of text into the cube.
This sounds like a horrendous solution - first of all the blocks of text can run into many hundreds of characters. Secondly, surely the performance WILL be terrible if the cube has to hold rows and rows of free text?
Please advise. If this solution is really not feasible in BI, then I will have to tell the business that it cannot be done.
I notice that it is possible to upload free text into a web template. Is this a better solution?

Promotion creation via BAPI - long text issue

I am going to use BAPI_PROMO_CREATE to create a promotion. Unfortunately this BAPI does not handle the long text piece of the promotion, and that is a requirement. Does anyone know of a BAPI that will create the long text for a promotion, or is there a generic BAPI for this functionality? I couldn't find one.

Bex Report Designer - Large amount of data issue

Hi Experts,
I am trying to execute (on Portal) report made in BEx Report Designer, with about 30 000 pages, and the only thing I am getting is a blank page. Everything works fine at about 3000 pages. Do I need to set something to allow processing such large amount of data?

Hi Sauro,
I have not seen this behavior, but it has been a while since I tried to send an input schedule that large. I think the last time was on a BPC NW 7.0 SP06 system and it worked OK. If you are on a recent support package, then you should search for relevant notes (none come to mind for me, but searching yourself is always a good idea) and if you don't find one then you should open a support message with SAP, with very specific instructions for recreating the problem from a clean input-schedule.

Crystal Report for Enterprise not displaying Long Text from BEx

Hello,
I am creating a report using SAP Crystal Report for Enterprise 4.0 (Version 14.0.2) and the source of data is BEx query via OLAP connection created using IDT. I am using SAP BusinessObjects BI platform 4.0.
The Characteristic (which is hierarchy) in the Rows section of the BEx Query is set to display long text and as such, it displays long text when the query is executed in the BEx Analyzer. However, when it comes to Crystal Report, the short text is displayed in the report. Can I display long text in the Crystal Report? How?

Thanks for your response. Please note, however, the transaction RAD1 does not exist. Let me provide more details about the current settings of the InfoObject.
The Characteristic is 'Item' (0CS_ITEM) and upon going to RSA1 > Modeling > InfoObjects > Item (0CS_ITEM) > Right Click > Display > Business Explorer (tab) > Text Type is set to 'Long Text' and BEx description is set to 'Long description' already.
When I run/execute the query with this Item characteristic, the results in BEx Analyzer is showing appropriate long text, however, Crystal Report for Enterprise shows short text only

Modifying the lengh of a long text field- Crystal Report version 2011

I'm having a problem with the long text field in my crystal report.
I'll desribe the problem:
We work with BW version 7.4 sp 5.
I created a BEX Report with an infobject of type Long Text (Long Text is XL).
I know the length of this field is 1,333 char.
When I run the Bex Report the field is displayed correctly (long text).
I then created a Crystal Report 2011 version 14.0.6.1036 RTM based on my BEX Query.
The problem is that the Crystal report brought this database long text field as a
String[70]. Thus I get only the first 70 characters of the field.
Can we modify the settings of the field to enlarge it to be 1,333 characters in
length?

Hi Jothi,
Short Text and Long Text are associated objects of a Characteristic from a BEx query.
The 'Short Text' will not turn to 'Long Text' by setting the 'Can Grow' option.
In Fact, both are completely different objects.

Report CATS_DA, long text

Hi.
If I run report CATS_DA and someone have filled in something in the long text, there is a little pen and paper there.
If I then would like to save this to an excel sheet, the long text will not follow. I can understand why, because there can be a very very long text.
But if I would like to write my own report to get this long text out of the system, from which table, cluster or what ever, can I find the text.
I found table STXL but it only point to a cluster line.
Anyone having any idea?

Do obtain text from table STXL you can use FM: READ_TEXT.
Get the entry from STXL that you are requiring and get the text using this FM.

Actually the field I am looking for is not SGTXT. The field is shown via button in line item display if you click "Long text" button located next to text.
Then, pop-up for "Long Text for Document Line Item" is shown and the target text can be seen from the right button "Long overview". (This text is edited via Microsoft Word)
I want this whole long text in the report if available, or as query. Is it possible?
