BEX reporting incorrect figures after replicating objects

We have a process chain in BW that is run monthly and has been in production for a number of years with no issues.
After applying patches to our ERP6 system and upgrading to EHP4 - the process chain failed on a number of objects because the date & time stamp was different to the backend system.
I replicated the individual objects and the process chain ran successfully and the cube was available for reporting.
The business were not able to run their BEX queries as they were getting an error RFC_ERROR_SYSTEM_FAILURE   TABLE_NOT_EXISTS
In BW, I ran program u201CSAP_DROP_TMPTABLESu201D. I Ticked every thing to make sure that all types of temp tables and temp reports were deleted.
The business were then able to run thier BEX queries but they said that their queries were not picking up all expected data.
The queries reported on employees with FTE headcount > 0 and Salary > 0.
I viewed the contents of the cube and I can see the employees with their FTE and Salary figures.
I ran the program u201CSAP_DROP_TMPTABLESu201D again and this time when the busines ran their BEX query it picked up the employees FTE figures but the salary is still not showing.
I have proved that the data is there by viewing the contents so what is the BEX query looking at and how can I get it to pick up the salary figures?
Edited by: Beverley Draper on Dec 29, 2011 2:43 PM
I forgot to mention that the employees who are not being picked up correctly by the BEX query have all had cost centre changes during last month. I don't see how this should affect it but it is something that they all have in common.
I have not been able to replicate the issue in our test or QA environment.
I need to assure the business that it will work when it is run again at month end on Sunday 31st December 2011. (Each time it is run it drops the cube and rebuilds it to contain 2 years worth of data).
Does any one have any ideas how I can get the BEX query to pick up the data that I can see when I view the contents of the cube?

thanks for the info.
There are no aggregates on the cube
I ran the users query in RSRT and I can see the data, however, the 17 employees that are being reported as missing by the business are showing their previous salary and the FTE for the current month is blank. (the business are only selecting people who have an FTE for the current month and a Salary)
If I run transaction RSA1 and then right click, manage then display the cube contents, it has got the correct salary and FTE for the 17 employees for the month of November.
FYI
These employees had a cost centre change on the last day of the month in November on R3 system but back dated to earlier in the month of November.
The monthly process chain ran late in the evening of 30th November which was after the changes to the employees cost centres had been made
I copied these employees to our QA system and ran the process chain and they all show the correct salary and FTE information.
I can only assume that by deleting the cube from  RSA1 where it is available for reporting, and then re-running the job to create the cube again will correct it but the business do not want me to do this.
Is there any way I can refresh the data that the query is looking at because the cube has got the correct data?

  • Issue with Bex report - key Figures not populating correctly.

    Hi Experts,
I am facing an issue with a Bex report. There are three key figures of data type DATE having "Dec - Counter or amount field with comma and sign" datatype. After executing the query, in the report, for some sales documents the key figure fields are coming as 'X' and rest others are coming correctly in the date format as mm\dd\yyyy.
When i check in the cube, these key figures shows values in decimal format and not in date format. The conversion is happening during execution.
Pleas show me some light on how to identify the cause of getting 'X' for some Sales documents in the report eventhough some are coming correctly.
    Thanks,
    Anamika
Edited by: Anamika Soni on Mar 12, 2010 10:48 AM

    Hi,
The infobject has been defined with datatype "DATE" only. It has also been mapped from datasource to infocube correctly as these key figures are populating correctly for some of the sales documents in the report. It is not like that for all the sales documents the key figures are not converting properly.
Some Sales documents are not converting into the date fields but for some conversion happens properly in the BEx report. This is the issue.
    Please guide accordingly.
    Many thanks,
    Anamika

  • BEX Reporting while ODS Activation

    Hi,
I have an ODS with BEX reporting enabled. While doing ODS activation users are able to execute query on this ODS.  Which giving partial report as activation is going on (it is really misleading).  Is there any way to restrict users from accessing the ODS data while activation going on? Or set the reporting flag after completion of ODS activation (Currently reporting flag is getting set while activation going on)?
We are in BW 3.5, Patch Level - 0012
    Thanks in advance
    Vinod

    Hi Vinod,
Its better to make Bex Reporting flag enabled after ODS activation.
If they are executing queries while activation of ODS is going on they were able to get data only from the requests which are loaded in ODS and r ready for reporting(activated requests).

  • ITunes crash : incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed

    Hi,
Every time I start iTunes, it crashes with the following error :
incorrect checksum for freed object - object was probably modified after being freed.
The problem occurs after I last added new tunes from external mp3 files.
    Maybe a corrupted file ?
How can this make iTunes crash ?
Anyway, anybody knows how to find the guilty file ?
    Are there any logs ?
    Thanks.

    In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful.

  • Significance of BEx Reporting flag in ODS objects

    Hello Masters,
I would like to know in detail, the Significance of BEx Reporting flag in ODS settings. What happens if we flag, and hat happedn when we dont ?
If, Transaction Data is loaded into the ODS,  without loading the relevant Masterdata in advance, are SID's created, as it happens in cube ?
IS there a connection between SID's and ODS objects ?
    best wishes,
    i BI

    Hi,
From SAP help : With the BEx Reporting indicator, you determine whether the ODS object is immediately available for BEx queries. If the indicator is not set, no SIDs are generated for the new characteristics when the data in the ODS object is activated. This optimizes the performance of the activation process, but the ODS object is not available as an InfoProvider for queries. Turn the indicator off for all ODS objects that are only being used for further processing of data in other data targets or that are being used in InfoSets.

  • Subject: Displaying key figures without currency unit in BEX reports

    Hello,
Is it possible to display key figures without currency unit in BEx reports? For example; Material Costs 1000 EUR
should be shown as 1000. Currency unit EUR and also scaling factor (*1000 EUR) does not interest us.
When we use display options in query properties, we just see an option of displaying key figures with/without scaling factors, which does not solve our problem.
    Thanks for your reply.

thank you very much for your quick reply. We have very detailed reports with min. 10 columns, I should have defined 10 more formula columns to realize this (NODIM), but anyway there is no other way to do this, am I right?

  • SSL peer reports incorrect Message Authentication Code (Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_alert) after Firefox 36 Upgrade

When upgrading from Firefox 35 to 36 (Windows 8, 32 bit) I start getting "SSL peer reports incorrect Message Authentication Code (Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_alert)" SSL errors on at least one website I use. (https://marketplace.ibmcloud.com).
The message only appears when I get redirected to the website again after a previous OpenID login (some more cookies are set). When I browse the website without authentication it works on the encryption without any issues.
None of [1] applied, I do not experience this problem with any other browser or the previous version of Firefox. It seems to be limited to the specific case. Clearing any kind of cache, enable / disabled the ssl3* mechanisms, did have zero effect.
Is there any other way to debug this or someone has an idea what changed with Firefox 36 to introduce this behavior? I downgraded back to 35 for now to work again.
    [1] https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/new/desktop/fix-problems/form?search=SSL+peer+reports+incorrect+Message+Authentication+Code+(Error+code%3A+ssl_error_bad_mac_alert)&step=aaq-question

I created a ticket there as well for them to investigate, although knowing IBM I guess we know the answer already, if I hear anything from there I will let you know.
However, as the problem only occurs on the one version of Firefox as of right now, I'm inclined to role out potential server side issues as a reason and pass it to something within Firefox, or was there a change any encryption defaults that might force the server to switch to a different version or something that might have the bug?

  • BEx report is showing wrong total but individual cell's total gives correct figure

    Hi,
For a bex report at sales office level, there are about 110 sales offices giving sales figures.  But for some 2 sales offices, it's not giving the correct figure(for Total Volume).  When I bring the Bex report at sales office level and customer level, I could get individual sales figures for some customers present in that sales office.  But if I take the total of all customer's total volume, I'm getting exact figures (i.e., the correct figure for total volume)but it's total displayed by BEx report is wrong.
    for eg:
    Sales Office     Total Volume
    101                    100
    102                    150
    103                    300
Let us take the above example.  Here, Sales office 101, 102 are correct wit its total volume.  For sales office 103, for validation if I bring customer as:
    Sales office     Customer     Total Volume
    103                    111               20
                             112               80
                             113             101
                             114               22
                             115               82
The total of above Total volume is 305 but it's displayed as 300.
Only for some one or two sales offices.  It's cube is giving the correct data if I take up it's sum.
Plz help me to resolve the problem.
    with Regards,
    Antony Jerald.

    Hi Sujit,
Thanks for your reply.  As you said, if it's because of exception aggregation, the same(wrong total)will be displayed for all the sales offices right?
Could you please let me know what are all the important tabs you want me to show?
    Awaiting for your reply..
    with thanks and regards,
    Antony Jerald.

  • Report Generation Toolkit files in incorrect location after installing deployment

    TestStand 2010 SP1 + LabVIEW 2011 + Report Generation Tookit
After installing a deployment, the location of NI_Excel.lvclass is expected to be at ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\Excel\NI_Excel.lvclass (see attachment)
but the path of the file is located at ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
In the deployment image, under the target folder, the file is in ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
and the lvproj finds the file.
The lvproj in the installation finds the file in ...\VIs for <project name>\SupportVIs\data\NI_Excel.lvclass
Renaming the folder from data to Excel fixes this problem.

I am facing the same issue when I create the TS deployment through utility using TS2012.I thought of adding the file to the Teststand workspace and give the destination in to supportVIs directory. But even tthat didn't worked as it was copying all excel vis in to two locations.
Even adding the Directory path in to TS search directory options  to "\data folder"  is not resolving the issue and LAbVIEW Vis are not able to locate it.

  • Replicating a bex report in webi

    Hi
I am trying to replicate a bex report in WEBI.In the bex report based on a variable value i show either planned values or actual  values for amount field, both of which are coming from 2 different cubes. How do i achieve the same functionality in a webi report?
    Pls help..

You cannot merge two SAP BW universes into one. THe only option for merging to different SAP sources (BEx queries) in a single universe is to use the Data Federator.
Use your BEx query based on the multiprovider you already have as data source for your universe.

  • BO migration from BEx reports

One of my client is running on SAP IS Retail 6.0, and they have few BW reports. Now they are looking for migrating the BEx reports to BO XI.
They do not want to change anything, but want to port the reports as is to BO from BEx.
My previous experience of porting BEx reports to BO as is, without puting extra filters of something, to reduce the huge data size images was not good at all.
Is there any way to have better performance in BO than the current BEx performance, if we want to port the reports as is without any structural change?
Please share your experience with me.

My company is running Webi reports using BOBJ XI 3.1 (up to current fixpack level) on SAP BI 7.01 EHP1-SP5. This config gives 50% reduction in Memory, 30% improvement in runtimes, on average compared to 7.0 BI, according to SAP. But is it good enough for full corporate deployment?
My understanding of the Webi <-> SAP BI architecture is that we still have a large image sent to the XI Box from the query -> universe -> Webi report refresh. The big flaw here in my view is that Webi is disconnected from the OLAP database tables after the refresh, thus must 'image' everything the report requires, in our case into a 32 bit Windows NT box.
This is quite different from the SAP BI OLAP front-end model, in which user navigations are threaded in various ways (sometimes from cache, from aggregates, from indexes on the DSO characteristics etc), as we can see in our BI OLAP processing steps in BI statistics.
After the Webi refresh, there are no 'threads', or calls, back to BI ABAP tables, as the Webi report has to represent all the potential navigation in the MDX model. For this reason it seems a fundamentally resource-intensive architecture, that can induce instability when very large sets of data are retrieved in concurrent user sessions. By "large"  think of the 'cubed' size (count of characteristics X count of key figures X number of transactions).
If user activity results in concurrent refresh calls to generate large report 'images' from SAP BI, I have observed 100% CPU freeze in BOBJ XI, and user lockout until resources are again freed up, which can take a very long time for certain reports. Subsequently when the large images are subjected to user OLAP navigations, CPU processing again will spike.
When running large image reports, the Webi performance has been an 'order of magnitude' slower than our reports running on ABAP web. Unfortunately, the risk is greater than just slow performance - there is the CPU and memory resources that are engaged during that extended processing interval as well.
Much depends on the normal level of user activity. This is a matter of simple statistics. Say your overalll production BI system load averages ten users per hour running reports. If Webi report runtime averages 30 minutes per refresh, and BEx ABAP runs in 5 minutes, the probabillity of concurrent resource collisions is much higher - from 10% to 50%, thus the situation can snowball rapidly.
I think SAP is working very hard on this problem, but has issued guidance as recently as May 2009,  that if you have current BEx reports that are working, don't migrate them all yet. Unfortunately our users are anxious to run everything in the Webi tool, because it is indeed a super user interface.
However, customers have until 2016 until the Bex tools are phased out. Interviewed by Searchsap, Jonathan Becher, SAP Sr. VP, said, "There are lots of scenarios that BEx does just fine, if you're confident using BEx, don't rush."  The same article also quoted Cindy Coyle of Coors, who had tested the Webi BOBJ: ""Don't go near Business Objects [until you get a BWA]," Coyle said, "because it'll only add more performance problems on top of what's there today." • Concatenation of Data from 4 infoobjects into a single cell in Bex Report

    Hi,
I have loaded ODS with the description data. The source system for loading the ODS is the flat file. The ODS data should be a replica of the flat file.
In the flat file, there is a description field corresponding to a particular ID. This Description is greater than the standard 60 char length. So, I had to split the description while loading the flat file using single line routine in the Transfer Structure.
So, while loading different  the data, I split the description field data from the flat file into 4 infoobjects and the flat file data was loaded into the ODS.
Now, from the reporting point of view, I need to display the entire description data from the 4 info-objects into a single cell in the Bex report.
Please suggest a solution for this.
