BEx RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION

Dear all,
  I got a funny issue when I connect to BW server in BEx. The 'Connect to SAP gateway failed' is poped up, the fun is I can connect to the same BW system via SAP GUI. I checked all the parameters for BEx, Macro,security and even the service configuration in my system. The error message likes:
  Error Group:RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION
  Error:converting to/from net format failed
  Message:Connect to SAP gateway failed
  Does anyone got the same issue? Or some guys know how to fix this issue.Any sugguestion are appreciated.
B.R
Gerald

<b>Reason and Prerequisites</b>
The SAP gateway host is deactivated or the TCP/IP port 33xx (where xx corresponds to the system number) is not open.
<b>Solution</b>
Issue statement ping <IP address> (In this example:192.168.4.2) No reply: Boot SAP Gateway host required.
An answer:Check whether the TCP/IP port 33xx is open (where xx corresponds to the system number) and start the SAP gateway.
The TCP/IP port is also partially defined in the services file as an sapgw<SID> or sapgwxx entry (where xx corresponds to the system number). The services file is in the Windows directory or in WinNT/System32/drivers/etc.
Note 447882 - RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION BEx Analyzer: no back end connection
Hope it Helps

    Hi Laszlo,

    When do you receive this error. Do you get it also when you open Analyzer from Start menu?
    Iam facing this error when i access BEx Analyzer from srat menu and then clik on connect button in Excel and provide login details and then finally facing this error.
    Have you checked your frontend installation? Is it all right?

    hi,
    192.168.117.25 is the new IP ? do you use IP address in your sap logon pad or hostname/servername ? do you maintain the IP mapping in 'host' file ? changed accordingly ?
    also try to search if there are 2 'saplogon.ini' file, maybe the one with IP updated not used by BEx, try to overwrite with the latest one. normaly located in windows folder and program files\... \frontend ...

  • Windows 7 64 bit giving BEx Problems. Big time problems (!!)

    Hi there, i just got through an issue with BEx connecting to SAP on a laptop using Windows 7. After googling and sdning and SAP noting for a while did not find any suitable answer to this issue which seems strange to me as Windows 7 64 bit is not really a brand new product. In C:\Windows i got:

    in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\SAP\Common i got:

         -> SapLogonTree.xml
         -> saprules.xml
         -> Saproute

    Hi Alex ,
    SAP GUI for Windows 7.20 and all related applications including SAP Desktop Office Integration / BI Frontend / BW Frontend do not support Office 2010 64bit, only 32bit versions of Office are supported.
    This means that when using 64bit operating sytems with SAP GUI for Windows and related components you have to use a 32bit Microsoft Office version .
    For your issue , you can check these Notes.
    1. 1442028 - SAP GUI for Windows 7.20: No support for Office 2010 64bit

    When we see this at our sites it's normally because the Bex hasn;t been upgraded and is still sort of using a 6.4 gui
    When you are loggin in via sapgui you go in on a 7 gui - and it accepts a password > 8 chars
    Then when you login via bex designer/analyser it pops up with a screen that is 6.4 and it cuts the password to 8 chars - hence rfc errors or password errors
    We normally get our local in country IT teams to reinstall Bex to the latest version

  • "Connect to SAP gateway failed" error message when we connecting bex to bw

    any one can help in connecting bex with BW.
    we got a error when we are trying to connect bex to bw from offshore. as we do not have basis consultant we only need to connect bex with BW.
    "Connect to SAP gateway failed".
    RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION
    But it is working properly connecting to onsite team.
    this is the first time we are connecting from offshore.

    You didnt answer the first question of when exactly are you getting this error message - during direct logon to BEx or using transaction RRMX. Anyways, I assume both are giving the error.
    Check how the SAP logon pad is configured to access the BW server currently.
    In our case the problem was resolved by using the server machine name instead of the IP address to logon to the BW server.
    If you are currently using the IP address in the logon pad then change it to the server machine name instead.
    Also, make this entry in your hosts file (windows>system32>drivers>etc>hosts) add an entry like:
    <IP Address> <bw_server_machine_name>
    save the file, reboot the system and then try logging onto BEx again.
    If it still does not work - send me screenshots of the logon pad configuration you have for the BW server.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Nikhil
