Bex-Role

Hi,
HOw can i create a new folder (Role) in Bex to place the reports.I don't need to create a a folder as a node to another folder...i want to create a new folder
Thanks

Hi Tony,
In order to save the reports, workbooks in a FOlder, you have to create a role, and in that role you have to create the folder that you want.
After that, you have to :
1)Open the report
2)Save the report
3)Choose the option "Role"
4)Select the new role, and it shows up the folder
5)Save
End
Asigns points if useful.

  • Assigning a BEx role to BSP - BSP application is missing in PFCG

    Hi everybody,
at first I will describe our problem.
We constructed a mixed environment web application, consisting out of a BSP application and WAD web templates. Unfortunately the url of web templates and the bsp-application differs - meaning the server is the same, but the port is different. That's why it is not easy to link the application each other, because for transportation reasons, we would like to have relative url paths.
After searching the SDN and reading several help files I draw the conclusion, that I have to put my BSP application into a BEx role. Correct? If anybody has a better approach, please raise your hand now!
So, I tried to create a role for my BSP application in the transaction PFCG. To specify the target I choosed entry type OTHER and BSP application. But in the appearing list of all BSP applications, my application was missing.
I really wondered about it, because similar BSPs from other authors within the sap/bc/bsp - folder appeared in the list.
Question: What are the prerequisites that a BSP application is available in the PFCG transaction?
Thanks for any comments and helps
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi Raja,
thank you for your quick reply.
you are looking at constructing the BW WAD url and call it from BSP, however the host address (port) differs and coz of that you cannot use relative urls.
Almost. I'm actually searching for the other way round. I want to call the BSP in an inlineframe of a WAD web template. But its exactly that port change issue, that causes the problem.
My BSP application is located in a subfolder of default_host/sap/bc/bsp/ ?
There are other BSPs in that folder which already appear in the PFCG transaction under OTHER.

    Sebastian

    Hello Sam,
You have to create Roles in PFCG and assign appropriate reports authorization to the roles. For example you can create roles for End User , Power User etc.
Once this is done, then assign the user to the Roles.

  • Rename of Workbooks in BEx roles

    Hello together,
how can I rename workbooks which are published/saved in BEx menu roles ?
    I use BW 7.0
I tried to rename the workbooks in the role administration, but this changes have no influence of the view in the "Open Workbook" menu in BEx. And a change in the se16 table RSRWBINDEXT is not possible.
Thank you for your help in advance.

    hello,
Try  to go to the role in PFCG, reimport the menu under the Menu tab.
did u try in the open workbook menu if you could rename it.
did u try to log off from the sys and do a login again to BEX and check?

  • Publish a BEx role in the portal

         Hello!
I would like to know if any of you have ever encountered this situation. Is it possible to somehow publish in the portal a link to a BW role, so all the queries/workbooks stored inside can be opened from there? The thing is that the users generate in these folders their own queries from time to time according to business requirements, and they would like them to be available from the portal. If this approach is possible, then the maintenance required for the portal content administrator would be minimal when they create new content under these roles.
I have used KM content for BO folders, but I do not know if something like this is possible for BW roles. If possible, could you please provide some how to's?
       Thank you very much,
       Victor

    Hi,
You need not to create web template to publish query in portal.
there are two ways for publishing
1)Go to query designer Click on Query -> Publish-> To portal
here you select the path where you want to create the iview
2)Log in to portal setect the folder in which you want to publish report.
right click -> create new iview -> select BI 7.0 iview -> next -> iview name ie report name -> next -> Application parameter -> here you need to write QUERY =Query technical name -> next -> finish
    Try this,

  • BEX Roles and Folders help !!!

    Hi Friends...
We need to restrict the access to the queries and workbooks by roles. Can any one send me some document / steps how do we make this restriction. example ; power user , coordinator , controller etc....
we would need to create a "User group" maybe even several user groups and assign existing folder names to these user groups.
It would be appreciated ,If some one can send me a step by step approach / document ,
    Thanks

    Hi SAm.
Not exactly what you are asking for.. But it might be helpful.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/55/2bb33b90131e73e10000000a11402f/content.htm
It gives you some different scenarios.
I have not been doing authorisation by folder, but by naming X..or Z.. queries.  I think it should be possible to do it by folder also.
Assigning different folders or infoobjekts to different roles.

  • BEx query role folder didn't appear

    Dear experts,
Can experts show me how to create a role folder in BEx Analyzer? Currently we already create a role ZRE01 in BW system and assign the related query in role (Refer attachment role in BW - PFCG). The issue is, the role folder didn't appear in BEx Analyzer role search ( Refer attachment BEx role). Therefore, what should I do to make the role appear in the BEx Analyzer role search? The role already assign to my SAP id in SU01 in BW system.
Please help. Thank you very much.

    Hi,
The second screen shot info will appear in BW system when your users login. The Role menu will appear here. This setting is not for BEx.
For every User in Su01, there will be Roles Tab. You have to mention all the Roles to which user has been assigned. These role folders will appear in Bex.

  • Query assigned to role. Doesnt execute when try to execute from under role

    Hi Experts,
We have some queries assigned to a role in PFCG.
Now the anomaly is as follows:
some of the queries that are assigned, do not show any technical names in the Bex role window. When we click on these queries under this role, nothing happens. no execution, nothing.
The same queries if executed from under the Infoareas->infoprovider->query path, execute correctly.
This would point to incorrect assignments in PFCG, BUT thats not the case.
    <bsp_protcl>://<bsp_server>/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=<language>&bsplanguage=EN&cmd=ldoc&INFOCUBE=Z1&QUERY=ZQ1
    <bsp_protcl>://<bsp_server>/sap/bw/BEx?sap-language=<language>&bsplanguage=EN&cmd=ldoc&INFOCUBE=Z2&QUERY=ZQ2
The details of the query assignments to the role are as above.
Query ZQ1 shows in Bex role with a technical name and executes properly.
Query ZQ2 doesn't show a technical name under that role in Bex and doesnt execute.
Also if I execute ZQ2 from the PFCG, it executes correctly.
    What are we missing here?
    All help appreciated!

The query name is correct.  The assignment seems to be correct too.
But for this particular assignment, the bex role doesnt show a technical name for the query. neither does the query execute.
Why don't the assignment via PFCG work?

    Hello,
Is it possible to publish Bex Excel workbook into portal?
    Thanks

    Hi,
Publishing BW workbook in portal can be done in two ways.
    1)Using RRMXP transaction
    /people/arunkumar.sampathkumar/blog/2006/08/09/publishing-bw-workbooks-into-portal
2)Using information broadcasting in portal and publishing into the KM folder
For information broadcasting - you have to install the precalculation server in the portal server. This is needed for precalculation of the workbook. After installing the precalculation server start the corresponding service. If you execute transaction "RSPRECADMIN" in BW, it shows the status of precalculation server, Whether it is running or not
After doing this. Assign the BEX role inthe portal to the user. Now from this screen you can broadcast the BW workbook
Also you can create an iview for the same.

  • How to change & manage different ports in a mixed web environment (BSP/WAD)

    Hi everybody,
    our scenario is the following:
We constructed a mixed environment web application, consisting out of a BSP application and WAD web templates. Unfortunately the url of web templates and the bsp-application differs - meaning the server is the same, but the port is different. That's why it is not easy to link the application each other, because for transportation reasons, we would like to have relative url paths.
After searching the SDN and reading several help files, we found out, that the port of the BSP can be changed by adding an entry to the HTTPURLLOC table.
    See also: [Configuration Table HTTPURLLOC|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/42/d547ab30b6473ce10000000a114e5d/frameset.htm]
We managed to do that and in addition we created a BEX role for our BSP application. But with the new port the BSP does not appear in the browser window. So we still didn't fulfil our requirement to call the BSP in a include item of the WAD without passing the complete URL server:port/sap/bsp/...
Question: How can we link the BSP out of the WAD environment, respectively is it possible to call the BSP with the same port, being used by the web templates...?
Thanks for any comments and hints!
    Best regards,
    Sebastian

    Hi Raja and everybody,
thank you for your comments... meanwhile we just solved the problem by appliying method two mentioned above. Therefore we created a Customer web item class as denoted in [Creating an ABAP Class for the Custom Extension Web Item|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/47/a1c1237d753ca2e10000000a42189b/content.htm].
In the Initialize method I constructed the IFrame HTML-Code:
      DATA: serverURL TYPE STRING.
      DATA: serverPort TYPE STRING.
      DATA: bspName TYPE STRING.
      DATA: iFrameURL TYPE STRING.
    * Fetch the BSP port from internal table
      SELECT SINGLE VALUE FROM it_table.
    * Create iFrame URL
      serverURL = 'https://www.sap.com'.
      bspName = 'myBSP'.
CONCATENATE serverURL ':' serverPort '/' bspName INTO iFrameURL.
    * Create the iFrame Tag
      CLEAR generatedHTML.
      generatedHTML = '<iframe src="%IFRAMEURL%" valign="top" width="100%"/>'.
REPLACE '%IFRAMEURL%' IN generatedHTML WITH iFrameURL.
In the execute the code is parsed with the method:
    CALL METHOD cl_bics_cons_webitem_util=>string_2_utf8_xstring
Many thanks to Raja and everybody else for helping me!

  • Adhoc Analysis in Web

    Hi,
In BW 3.1 when we used the 'display query on the web'button, it showed tool bar from which we can create new query etc. We are not able to see it in the new SAP Netweaver Installation.
Does anyone know what we are missing? Pls help.
    Thanks
    Suja

    Hi,
in BW 3.5 we decided to distinguish between 2 scenarios:
    a) you created a query in the query designer and execute it (or you have a query assigned to your roles and execute it). In general no need to change this specific query or open another one within your web application.
The functions (beside the adhoc query designer) are still there; just visualization changed.
Template is 0ADHOC (and configured as standard)
    b) you have a application where you can open queries and can create new queries
Template is 0ANALYZER (and is for example part of our BEx Role in the Portal).
So just launch template 0ANALYZER and you are fine.
If you want to use the old 0QUERY_TEMPLATE change the settings in spro.

    Hello
I wish to insert queries in a workbook and the deploy the same on the portal.
Plz give a step by step procedure as to how to do that?
Should the workbook also be assigned in the eb application designer?

    Hi,
How to insert query in Workbook
Just open the workbook, go to the place you want and click on the option Tools->Insert query (with BW 3.x); With BI 7, just open your workbook, choose a place you want to insert the query and click on the table button, then you have to assign that table to a dataprovider (a query)

    Also,
BEx Analyzer Workbook as an iView in the Portal
    Use
BEx workbooks are Microsoft Excel workbooks with one or more embedded BEx queries. You can display workbooks in the portal as iViews. You can also open BEx queries in the BEx Analyzer as an iView.
    Features
Workbooks are displayed in a separate Microsoft Excel window. Opening workbooks within the Web browser window is not possible for technical reasons.
BEx Analyzer workbooks need the BEx Analyzer, which requires a local installation of the SAP GUI for Windows with the BI front end.
We recommend that you use BEx Web applications in the portal that run completely in the Web browser.
You can use the function Export as Excel 2000 File from the BEx Web application context menu as an alternative to a local installation of the BI front end if you need to use the functions of Excel.
An iView with a workbook can be generated using the Portal Content Studio or Role Upload.
The iViews are of type SAP Transaction iView and have the code link com.sap.portal.app integrator.sap.Transaction.
The most important properties are System, Transaction Code (TCODE) and ApplicationParameter.
    ●      The System property includes the alias on the BI system
    ●      The Transaction Code for every workbook is RRMXP.
    ●      The value WBID=<WORKBOOK_ID> is in the ApplicationParameter property.
You can determine the workbook ID with the BEx Analyzer:
                                a.      Open the required workbook.
                                b.      In the design toolbar for the BEx Analyzer, choose Workbook Settings The dialog Workbook Settings includes the workbook ID in the upper field Name of Workbook.
    ●      The property ApplicationParameter has the value QUERY=<QUERY>, where <QUERY> is the technical name of the query.
If a workbook or query is not defined, the BEx Analyzer is started with a connection to the BI system only. An additional logon is not required.
The following properties must be defined in the iView in order to ensure a concrete start of the workbook or query in the BEx Analyzer.
    ●      The property AutoStart must have the value True.
    ●      The property GuiType must have the value WinGui.
    ●      The property Technique must have the value SAP Shortcut.
    Hope this helps u.

  • Best Practice for BEX Query "PUBLISH to ROLE"?

    Hello.
We are trying to determine the best practice for publishing BEX queries/views/workbooks to ROLEs.
To be clear of the process I am referring: from the BEX Query Designer, there is an option QUERY>PUBLISH>TO ROLE.  This function updates the user menu of the selected security role with essentially a shortcut to the BEX query.  It is also possible to save VIEWS/WORKBOOKS to a role from the BEX Analyzer menu.  We have found ROLE menus to be a good way to organize BEX queries/views/workbooks for our users.
Our dilemma is whether to publish to the role in our DEV system and transport to PROD,... or if it is ok to publish to the role directly in the PROD system.
Publishing in DEV is not always possible, as we have objects in PROD that do not exist in DEV. For example, we allow power users to create queries directly in PROD.  We also allow VIEWS and WORKBOOKS to be created directly in PROD.  It would not be possible to publish types of objects in DEV.
Publishing in PROD eliminates the issues above, but causes concerns for our SECURITY team.  We would be able to maintain these special roles directly in PROD.
Would appreciate any ideas, suggestions, examples of how others are handling this BEX publish-to-role process.
    Thank you.

    Hi Joel,
Again as per the Best Practices.Nothing to be created in PRD,even if we create them in PRD for Power users its assumed as temprory and can be deleted at any time.
So if there are already deviations then you can go for deviations in this case as well but it wont be the Best Practice. Also in few cases we have workbooks created in PRD as they cud nt be created in DEV due to various reasons...in such cases we did not think of Best Practice ,we had a raised an OSS on this aswell.
In our Project,we have done everything in DEV and transported to PRD,in case there were any very Minor changes at query level we have done in PRD and immedialtely replicated the same in DEV so that they are in SYNC.
