BEx SSO

Hello,
I have just enabled SNC for our BW systems. All is good for SSO to BW GUIs but for BEx Applications (Query Designer, Report Designer, etc.) SSO does not work. When I go into a BEx application like Query Designer the SAP logon will come up but when I try to connect using SSO which works for GUI I instead get error u201CMissing SNC_LIB=u2026 in connect_param in RfcOpenExu201D.  Sorry SSO is new to me and canu2019t find details on this error. Snc/gssapi_lib is set correctly. I do not get why  SAPLogon to BW GUI through SSO works while BEx SAPLogon to BW GUI through SSO doesnu2019t work. Can someone please give me advice?
Thank You,
Alex

Alex,
When you use GUI with SNC, the SNC library is found using default name, e.g. sncgss32.dll. However, when you use BEx, the SNC_LIB environment variable is needed. You need to define this environment variable on each Windows workstation where you have BEx, and want to use SNC authentication.
Thanks,
Tim

  • New BI System

    Hi Experts,
I am into Implementation project. We got New server. My client system got connected to server.
    my question is...
    1. what are the necessary setting to give for BI System.
    2. On top of BI we have BO System. In BO Point of view what are the necessary settings have to be done  in BI System.
    Can any body help me....
    Thanks,
    Manag

    Manag,
    1. what are the necessary setting to give for BI System.
If you have BW system already installed, what settings you are looking for ?
Bex, SSO, Memory Tuning, DB tuning or what ?
    2. On top of BI we have BO System. In BO Point of view what are the necessary settings have to be done in BI System.
1).. You might need to configure in CmcApp ->Authentication --> SAP --> connect BO to BW system.
2),  Import Roles from BW to BO
    3).  SSO
other configuration depends on your business requirement.

  • BI installation after ECC5 install successfully

    Dear Members
I install ECC5 successfully and now I want to install BI now my question is BI installation is typical just like ECC5 installation? or just like other windows installation i.e Next,Next and Finish?

    Hi iskhan,
The front end bex tools allow developers to create queries, web applications etc.  It is available on the SAP gui cd under add-ons.  This will need to be installed on all developers who will be developing queries.
There is lots of config work that needs to be done by basis and developers.....like:
    Creating a source system.
    Creating RFC's.
    Setting up system users.
    Bi Portal integration (note 917950)
    Config in SMICM for bex
    SSO....
    .....the list could go on....
Some of this config will be the same as in the ECC system, where as the majority is different.
    Cheers,
    Nick.

  • SSO (SNC) for BEx applications

In our testing environment, we use SSO(SNC) through the SAP GUI for Windows to access our backend systems:
*SSO file gx64ntlm on the server side
*SSO file sncgss32.dll on the client side
*User mapping (SNC tab) mapped to active directory user
    and everything works fine.
However, when launch BEx Analyzer, Query Designer, etc, we get the following error when accessing the SSO logon options in the SAP Logon Control tool:
    Error Group
    RFC_ERROR_PROGRAM
    Message
Missing SNC_LIB=... in connect_param in RfcOpenEx
How does the logon control need to be configured in order to connect to the backend system via SSO?

  • Bex Broadcaster webtemplate Error SSO :  call FM RSRD_X_GET_INFO_PROX

    Hi,
    I've applied note 972514.
Our call for Bex Broadcaster since our portal, are working well for queries, but when we choose (open) a webtemplate and decide to schedule it (by creating  new settings )
we have the error message :"     Java system error: call FM RSRD_X_GET_INFO_PROXY to ProgId LIL178UX_PORTAL_FW9 on host LIL178UX with SSO not authorized: Authentication failed.
Error     Cannot generate broadcast setting for current context"
I've checked the logs (same error message)
SSO seems to be configured well (RSPORT_SETUP+Support Desk Tools are ok)
Help would be grateful and reward.

Does the authorisation user in the broadcast setting has authorization to broadcast?
Because that's exactly what you get when the authorization user is missing the broadcast-auth.
You can test this by putting a SAP_ALL user in the authorization user and test it.

The SSO works correctly on Analysis for OLAP.
The Authentication used is the SAP authentication.
    Thanks.
    Andrea

That's what we're doing in our 4.1 instance as well.
After a lot of troubleshooting, it looks like our problem is related to the SSO set up itself.  We set the OLAP Connection to Pre-defined, entered the SAP credentials of one of our developers, then saved the connection.  We were able to refresh existing reports and create new reports without any issues.  We changed the OLAP connection back to SSO and received the same error message as in OP when we tried to select a BEx query.
I'm going to go through the entire SSO set up again.  There was a BW hotfix applied throughout our environments, thinking it might have messed something up.

  • Bex Web Application Designer launched from desktop NOT SSO (single sign-on)

    BI 7.0
The SSO from the Portal to BI/BW is working correctly, The SSO from BI/BW to the POrtal is working correctly.
The problem is from the desktop, launching Bex Web Application DEsigner, it prompts to Logon to the BI system, then when you execute the selection it prompts you to log on to the Portal. I would expect the Portal logon to be SSO. Is there an SSO option for the Bex WAD I need ?
Is there a  Bex tool or desktop configuration that I need to implement?
Thanks in advance for any help

  • SSO & BEx Authorizations in Explorer

    Hi All,
We are trying to bring below two things into SAP BO Explorer,
    1. SSO
    2. BEx Analysis Authorizations
We are able to do both into SAP BO Explorer, but here issue was about Indexing
    Eg :
If I do indexing from ID - User 2, I am getting only 1000 Plant data, this view will be correct for User 2, if I open same Explorer View from User 1, he supposed to see all data, but he is getting only 1000 Plant data ( same as user 2).
What I suspect was, there should be User Specific indexing needs to done in SAP BO Explorer?
Kindly correct me if my assumption was wrong, or please provide me is there any alternative solution.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Anil Akkala

If your source is a Universe unfortunately you will not be able to leverage the Analysis Authorizations dynamically during exploration. The reason is that for Universe source all the data is read during indexing time and an index created on the Explorer host. Exploration then is against the index independent of the source (BW). You can set-up personalization on the Explorer side to filter data for different users.

  • Double stack BI and Enterprise portal for SSO

I am in the process of configuring a double stack BI and SAP Enterprise Portal. Both systems are residing on different domains. We want to utilize the standalone SAP Enterprise Portal for our BEx etc. For that I have exchanged certificates between the ABAP and the SAP Enterprise Portal systems and with the help of Support desk tool I have overcome the certificate issues. The RFC connection from ABAP and SAP Enterprise Portal works fine. The Support desk tool is complaining now about the prefix of these two servers. Also when I check the connection testing between these two systems all the messages are correct except for WEBAS connection it complains about the ping service which is already active on ABAP side. For Connectors it complains about SSO which is not detected/complained by the Support desk tool (0.426). I need your advice:
    1. Either uninstall the JAVA instance of BI or
    2. Make a Federated Portal network by making the BI JAVA as PRODUCER and the SAP standalone as CONSUMER.
The Support package levels are the same as EHP1 SP 7 of both the double stack BI and the standalone Enterprise Portal systems. The source of users are both local to the systems.

  • SSO Configuration from Windows to ITS

    Hi SAP Gurus,
WE have our BI 7.0 system in our landscape, where SSO from windows has been configured for the
BI portal and BI queries to be run and which is running fine.
Now, we have a requirement where in we need to configure SSO from windows to the web services which are running on ITS.
Like , we have certain web services , which have the URL as:
    http://lv-cphsapbi1.cph.dk:8016/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?INITIAL_STATE=VIEW&INITIAL_STATE-VIEW=XV_PCA_FIN_RVW_MTH_YTD_V2
Where 8016 is the ITS port.
Has anybody worked on such a configuration before. IF yes, then sharing of some documentation and some guidance would be really helpful.
    Thanks in advance,
    Santosh Bhat

    Dear Santosh Bhat
Regarding the application on ITS, i.e
    http://lv-cphsapbi1.cph.dk:8016/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?INITIAL_STATE=VIEW&INITIAL_STATE-VIEW=XV_PCA_FIN_RVW_MTH_YTD_V2
Normally, how do you launch it?
    - open a browser and type the URL directly?
    or
      - login the backend ABAP, and then jump to a browser from a certain transaction?
    or
      - login the portal firstly and open the ITS application as a kind of iView? if yes, what kind of iView it is?
I hope to be able to provide you some hints after you clarify the scenario.
    Thanks
    Thunder

  • SSO to SAP works but no OLAP Connection per SSO Auth

    Hi experts,
we have setup an SSO for the Authentication of SAP BW and SAP BO and used the portal integration. We are using SAP BO 4.1 SP4 and SAP BW 7.4.
We use the Login via Netweaver Portal go then to the SAP BO where the reports are stored.
The SSO login works fine, but the OLAP connection to the SAP BW system does not fly. I have tried to create a connection via IDT. This works.
After that I created a WebI report in the Applet and chose BEx Connection and retreived the error:
    error.openSapBwBrowsingSessionFailed
Then i tried the WebI Rhich Client and recieved the message: Unknown Error in SL Service and Even do not recieve the list of possible Bex connections.
We are using SNC for the user authentication in SAP BW.
An now it is getting very unnormal:
When i go the IDT tool and create the connection again and republish this to the repository and try to connect again via WebI Applet, i do not get the error message again.
Can you please assist, as our Business user can not publish their OLAP connection.
    Regards,
    Markus

The new Business Objects version (BI 4.0) comes with a new authentication
technology to create a trust relationship between a non-SAP user and the SAP
data source. How to determine the correct method to be used?
When using legacy .unv universes (XI 3.1 technology) = SNC
When using .unx environments (BI 4.0 new semantic layer) = STS
when you try to connet BICS connection or IDT it is important to use the STS methodology.
check the below link to have configurations.
Follows a Wiki link with a "How to setup SSO against SAP  BW in SBO BI4.0 for LDAP users".  and follow the raunak kumar suggestion when you configire SNC and STS.

Landscape:We have both BW 3.5 and EP 6.0, SP 16 on the same instance in
same physical machine. EP 6.0 works on J2EE engine as an add-in installtion.
Steps we followed for the integration of EP with BW:
1)Create RFC Destination in J2EE Engine:
    Parameters:
    Program ID: xyz
    Gateway host: abc.ad.company.com
    Gateway service: sapgw00
    Application server host:abc.ad.company.com
    System number: 00
    Client: BID
    Language: EN
    User: sapjsf
    Password: ********
2)Maintain RFC Destination for SAP EP 6.0
    Parameters:
    RFC destination: SAP_EP
Connection type: T for TCP/IP connection
    Description: SAP EP RFC Destination
    Technical Settings:
    - Type of activation: Registered server program
    - Program ID: xyz
    - Gateway host: abc.ad.company.com
    - Gateway service: sapgw00
    Logon/Security:
    - Send SAP Logon Ticket: Activated
    Special Options:
    Unicode
3)Maintain Portal Server Settings for SAP EP 6.0 in table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
    in BW 3.5
    RFC destination: SAP_EP
    System name: BIDEV
    Default: Checked
    Portal URL prefix: http://abc.ad.company.com:50000
RM prefix for BW metadata: <empty>
    KM service URL: <empty>
P.S.:We have maintained one more dummy entry as per the SAP Note 815044
    in the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL.
4)Maintain Single Sign-On in SAP BW
In transaction RZ10, We have maintained following settings:
    login/create_sso2_ticket=2
    login/accept_sso2_ticket=1
5)Export BW Certificate to SAP BW and
6)Import BW Certificate to SAP EP 6.0
We have followed the above mentioned two steps.
7)Create BW System in SAP EP 6.0
    Parameters:
    Log on methods: SAPLOGONTICKET
We have created the BW system and the Connection test in WAS Connection
    is working fine.
8)Configure User Management in SAP EP 6.0
This step is not maintained as our scenario does not demand it.
9)Export Portal Certificate to SAP EP 6.0 and
10)Import Portal Certificate to SAP BW
This step is also maintained as per Performance Assistant guidelines in
    SPRO.
The user that we are trying to log into BeX Web Query Analyzer is
Amarnath_rr who has 'SAP ALL' rights and the same user in EP is assigned'Super Admin' as well as 'Content Admin' role.
Can anyone throw any light on wat the error might be??

    Ricky,
    a couple of clarifications :
    1. Does the report execute independently on the web - when you execute in Query view over IE or through a web template
    2. Check if SSO is properly configured - you can check if SSO is enabled by using TCode STRUST in BW. - the status of PSE should be Green.

  • SAP BO WebI Report on top of BI Bex Query with Authorization Variable

    Hi,
We are trying to restrict row level data using BI 7.0 analysis authorization concept. We have an authorization variable in the Bex query and is working perfect in Bex Analyzer as well as in RSRT.
Now we are trying to achieve the same thing in BO webI. We created an Universe using Authentication Mode SSO. We are on BOXI 3.1 and implemented SSO. When we try to run the query in WebI we get the error
"A database error occured. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData..(WS 10901)"
Just for testing purpose, when we use query filter in WebI and use Values from List, it is showing only the authorized value it supposed to show and runs well with that value selected. But we have to achieve this without the query filter in WebI.
So are we missing some thing here or any patch issue? Please share if you have done this type of reports in BO.
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Moorthy.

Yes I did run MDXTEST and it gives error as 'you do not have sufficient authorization'. The reason it is giving, I guess and we are debugging that to confirm, is first it looks for 0BI_ALL and throws error which is not the case in Bex. See the following trace in RSRT trace.
    InfoObject Properties Defined
    Reading of Directly Assigned Authorizations
Direct Assignment Does Not Include Universal Authorization 0BI_ALL
Reading the Indirect Assignments with Authorization Object S_RS_AUTH
    Does user have OBI_ALL?
No, the User Does Not Have Universal Authorizion 0BI_ALL
Negative Entry in SU53 Result of Failed Check for 0BI_ALL
Indirect assignments found; no universal authorization
Reduction of Authorization Dimensions on Characteristics in InfoProvider
    Reduction Successful
    Thanks!

  • BEx query not shown in BO 4.0; BICS

    Hi,
I have a sample BEx query designed in Query Designer 7.x; I would like to use this query with Web Intelligence of BO 4.0. However, the query is not being displayed.
In CMC -> Authentication we have entered our SAP BW system and we are getting the roles imported. So the connection seems to work.
In the query I have turned on the option "Allow External Access to this Query" (but I think this isn't necessary for BICS?).
However, the query isn't displayed when creating a new WebI document based on BEx. Do I have to do some more steps?
    Thanks!
Edit: I now created a new OLAP connection, our BO server can see the query and cube. But: I don't see this OLAP connection in Web Intelligence Rich Client. I am using the administrator login and have full access.

    Hi,
I have created 2 OLAP connection in CMC with SSO and Predefined. (does not work with prompt).
I can see the list of queries from cube with predefined connection, but all are gredout!!. what could be the reason?
With SSO connection i get following error -
com.google.protobuf.UninitializedMessageException: Message missing required fields: bytesValue
    Any input is much appreciated.
    Thanks.
