BEX to Portal

I am very sorry for asking such a basic question but I have looked hard here and could not find a pdf paper that describes how can I publish or make BEX query with variables accesable from BI portal.
Is there such a document that can show me how to setup bex query access and results from BI portal.
Thanks.

Hi,
If I understand your question correclty. Here is the solution:
You first need to develop web report using WAD for the Bex query. Open the WAD for that web report, then under 'Publish' select 'copy URL to clipboard'.
Now paste the URL at any place. This is the URL link you can run report via portal for the Bex query.
If you provide the URL link to Portal team, they will publish the link in portal.
Thanks,
Praveen Tati

  • How can i place a query developed in BEX to portal

    Hi Experts,
Can any one let me know the Step-by-Step procedure on how can i Migrate/Transport a query developed in BEX to Portal.
    Thanks in Advance

    Hi Krishna,
    1. Goto Web Application Designer.
    2. Drag and drop the table web-item from left to right.
    3. Assign the query to the web-item.
    4. Launch in the browser.
    5. If you want to launch it using EP then give the URL of the web query to the portal people they would take it as query string and launch it using IE.

Landscape:We have both BW 3.5 and EP 6.0, SP 16 on the same instance in
same physical machine. EP 6.0 works on J2EE engine as an add-in installtion.
Steps we followed for the integration of EP with BW:
1)Create RFC Destination in J2EE Engine:
    Parameters:
    Program ID: xyz
    Gateway host: abc.ad.company.com
    Gateway service: sapgw00
    Application server host:abc.ad.company.com
    System number: 00
    Client: BID
    Language: EN
    User: sapjsf
    Password: ********
2)Maintain RFC Destination for SAP EP 6.0
    Parameters:
    RFC destination: SAP_EP
Connection type: T for TCP/IP connection
    Description: SAP EP RFC Destination
    Technical Settings:
    - Type of activation: Registered server program
    - Program ID: xyz
    - Gateway host: abc.ad.company.com
    - Gateway service: sapgw00
    Logon/Security:
    - Send SAP Logon Ticket: Activated
    Special Options:
    Unicode
3)Maintain Portal Server Settings for SAP EP 6.0 in table RSPOR_T_PORTAL
    in BW 3.5
    RFC destination: SAP_EP
    System name: BIDEV
    Default: Checked
    Portal URL prefix: http://abc.ad.company.com:50000
RM prefix for BW metadata: <empty>
    KM service URL: <empty>
P.S.:We have maintained one more dummy entry as per the SAP Note 815044
    in the table RSPOR_T_PORTAL.
4)Maintain Single Sign-On in SAP BW
In transaction RZ10, We have maintained following settings:
    login/create_sso2_ticket=2
    login/accept_sso2_ticket=1
5)Export BW Certificate to SAP BW and
6)Import BW Certificate to SAP EP 6.0
We have followed the above mentioned two steps.
7)Create BW System in SAP EP 6.0
    Parameters:
    Log on methods: SAPLOGONTICKET
We have created the BW system and the Connection test in WAS Connection
    is working fine.
8)Configure User Management in SAP EP 6.0
This step is not maintained as our scenario does not demand it.
9)Export Portal Certificate to SAP EP 6.0 and
10)Import Portal Certificate to SAP BW
This step is also maintained as per Performance Assistant guidelines in
    SPRO.
The user that we are trying to log into BeX Web Query Analyzer is
Amarnath_rr who has 'SAP ALL' rights and the same user in EP is assigned'Super Admin' as well as 'Content Admin' role.
Can anyone throw any light on wat the error might be??

    Ricky,
    a couple of clarifications :
    1. Does the report execute independently on the web - when you execute in Query view over IE or through a web template
    2. Check if SSO is properly configured - you can check if SSO is enabled by using TCode STRUST in BW. - the status of PSE should be Green.

  • Report Performance Testing in BEX or Portal + process Chain testing

    Hi Guru,
i am looking for a tool in BW where BEX reports or Portal reports can be tested.
What i looking for is a possibility to log on virtual users (100.+) for a report and check how faster that report can be runned.
It is a tool where i can test the process chain perormance too?
a How to could be very helpful too.

  • J2EE_Admin Unable to Add iView Permissions (Connecting BEx and Portal)

    Hi guys,
I'm trying to set up a connection between BEx Web and Portal in a Netweaver 2004s environment.
Following notes 917950, I have made the configuration using Template Installer and RSPOR_SETUP.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, there are some issues.
Diagnostics & Support Desktop Tool (note 937697) shows 6 red lights:
    1. BI iView Permissions
    2. BI Mastersystem
    3. BI Portal System Permissions
    4. URLs Prefixes Customized on Both J2EE and ABAP Side
    5. User Mapping of User DDIC
    6. WebAS ABAP Certificate and Login Modules Configuration
    Here, let's just look at
    1. BI iView permissions.
    <b>Error: </b>
The BI Report-Report Interface iView does not have the necessary permissions for being called directly.
    My question is
Why can't the J2EE_Admin user do the following fix (Note 983683)?
    1) In the portal, follow the path
    "Content Administration -> Portal Content"
"Portal Content -> Content Provided by SAP -> Platform Add Ons ->
"Business Intelligence -> iViews -> BEx Launcher (transactions for RRI)"
    (pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/iViews/com.sap.ip.bi.rritransaction).
    2) From the context menu for this entry, choose "Open" -> "Permissions".
    3) "Search" for the "User Group" (Caution: not the "role") "Everyone" and add this to the list of assigned authorizations.
Set the value "None" in the selection field of the "Administrator" column and set the indicator "User". Save your changes.
The "ADD" button is not clickable!! Is it because the J2EE_ADMIN user is not authorized to add permissions?
I hope the experts here can provide some light into the situation. Points will be awarded for helpful answers. Thank you!!
    Regards,
    SJ

    2. BI Mastersystem
it depends on the type of error, see the hint given by the disgnostics tool, if it is sothing to do with BW system alias, so you have to connect to your portal and in system configuration->systemlandscape-> right click on SAP_BW then choose system alias and add the one proposed earlier in the diagnostics tool
    3. BI Portal System Permissions
add group everyone on you SAP_BW system on systemlandscape
    4. URLs Prefixes Customized on Both J2EE and ABAP Side
the one declared in the portal should be the same as the one in RSPOR_T_PORTAL table. you can modify this table to include the domain name of your URL
    5. User Mapping of User DDIC
open your java admin consol (http://server....:5sid00 and then click on user administration, choose ddic the in the mapping tabulation click on modify the enter j2ee_admin as a user for the mapping, it should solve this point, don't forget to save.
    6. WebAS ABAP Certificate and Login Modules Configuration
for this one you have to give the error text so i can help.
    if it helps give points.
    Regards.

  • Status of data in Bex query shows wrong date

    Dear Experts,
The Bex qurey after sucessful execution, show the Status of data as old date i.e. feb 2012. but we observed that the data uplaod happens regularly and sucessful.
we tried executing the same query using RSRT/Bex Analyzer/Portal. the results are same i.e. showing incorrect status of data.
Note: The Bex query is built on BI Infoset which sources from DSOs and Master Data infoobjects, and  BI version is 7.0.
Kindly please help for resolving the issue.
    Best Regards,
    Mannu.

    Hi Vijay,
The data upload has happend today also and it is sucessful, the reporing status is available for requests from respective infoproviders.
'Status of data' is not a filed. if it an information to tell the status of data in query result.
Please find the following steps to find the 'status of data'
go to RSRT->give the query name and execute-> now after query results-> go to last page-> you can find the 'status of data'.

You can ask your Portal team to investigate. They can follow up on this based on exception ID in logs in JAVA Visual Admin tool.
However in most of the they do not find anything. Therefore I would recommend you to clear up your web browser cache and delete web browser history as well.

Hello, due to a WIFI connection shutdown, I am suffering the same issue with a Query locked under my user name.
I am mostly using/connectig BW through the BEX Web Portal (not BPC / BW through the SAP GUI).

Is there any walkaround to delete the lock through Query Designer ?

  • Automatic Bex workbook archiving

    Hello,
i'm searching for a solution to export Excel-Workbooks to a Unix server folder automatically. We use a lot of VBA functionality in our workbooks - so we have to use the Bex Brodcaster with a precalculation service. It is impossible for us to activate Bex Broadcasters portal export, because we have no portal components installed. Are there any solutions to create an new Brodcaster destination/channel for this export?
    Thank you in advance,
    Jens

    Hi DPN,
Pause Auto Refresh purely allows you to make a number of Select Filter Value choices on the Free Characteristic block and then when you select Pause Auto Refresh again it makes one retrieval of your multiple selections.
Refresh Query is different altogether. It purely will run the workbook in the form it was last saved when you open the workbook.

  • How to use standard SAP stylesheets in WAD

    Hello ,
I created a new Web template.
Assigned a data provider, inserted a table.
In order to view i include a Analaysis box in one of the cell of Table.
Now i need to change the colours of result rows.
How to use Standard Stylesheets provided by SAP.
Where this stylesheets will be located
    Under which properties.
    How to use those.
How to edit those and save as we wanted.
An y step by step documents, please send it to [email protected]
I want to include Information button in Template, so when executing if user click this button he/she should know,
What are provided variables and if they chosen some specific variable restriction to see the result,
Also by default this information should get print.
In standard sap portal, this button is located on upper right corner.
    Please advise.

    Thanks Rusty,
    Thats exactly right,
I included a naviagtion block and it worked well
But while printing the query on Web template, It only prints the data that is coming in Analysis block.
Similarly while running the query thru BEX to Portal,
Navigation block is on left, but while printing it prints exactly every data in Information tab.
Information is the button located on upper right corner.
If you click, it will give you information such as , which restrictions u did, which extra filters you added everything.
And while printing it prints this information too.
I want to do the same designing for my custom Web template.
    How can i do that.
I already added navigation block, so it will be easy for users to drag and drop Chars and KFs in rows and columns as well as filter if they needed.
I hope you are trying to understand.
Also for using stylesheets can you suggest.
So that i can make changes to row and columns.
I am unable to locate stylesheet in any of the properties.

  • Integrating BI reports (with drill down) in EP

    Hi All,
We want to integrate some BI reports in EP. What we want to achieve is:
Display a graph (eg indicating sales revenue) in the iView
Upon user click, drill down the report to view by various criteria.
Would appreciate if anyone can provide tips on how to achieve this. Ive been contemplating on whether to use VC etc.  My apologies for not being so specific as im unfamiliar in the BW arena. Thanks!

    Hi,
Once you've created the BW query, report or template in your Web Application Designer you can create a Bex report portal iView on top of it using the iViews templates.
