BEx: VBA: Range of Data Provider

Hi at all,
Is there an elegant way to get the range of a data provider in VBA? I need this information for a few formatting rules and some other functions...
(We use only the BEx Analyzer 7.x)
Thanks in advance!
Have a nice day,
Alex

Hy Pavel,
I had this problem too.
But I have a solution as a workaround for you.
Good: using VBA and the API-CMd-Button
a) use the CMD-Button from the APIs (Set_Filter ..)
b) create a VBA CMD-Button
within this VBA - button
set all external parameters
cmd
set_filter
Data_Provider
collaps ...
Filter_VALUE_LOW_EXT
Filter_Value_High_ext
FILTER_NODE_IOBJNM
c) define a leading query
move or select a navigationvalue by
sheets("sheet").cells(row, col).value = sheets("Analyse").cells(10,3).value
The receiving cell is part of the cmd-Parameters
After your habe placed this parameters in the workarea of your API-Command
you can call your button like: call sheet1.button_7_click
Button_7 will execute the WebAPI-Funktion for you.
I have no more problems
hierarchy
single values
or intervall
Be carefull when using interval,
High and low must be filled and the single value too. (I don't know why)
Enjoy
Regards
Roland

  • Issue with Data Provider name in variable screen for BEx Analyzer

    Hello all,
    We got an issue with Data Provider name in Variable screen in BEx Analayzer.
    We want to change the DataProvider name there to Description of the report instead of its Technical name.
    Any inputs are appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kumar

    You have to create a workbook to do this.
    Refresh your query/report. In Bex analyser, there is one toolbar named BEx design toolbox, If you are not able to see it in analyser, right click on the toolbar space of BEx analyser and click on BEx design toolbox. Here, goto to design mode, by clicking on a sysbol like 'A'. after that place the curser where you want to see the Query description. and click on insert text (T) in BEx toolbox. click on it and check "Query description" in constant tab. in the general tab you need to assign a dataprovider, for that assign your query name in workbook settings (in Bex design toolbox). also check the "display caption" in general tab.

  • Passing a range of dates from Visual Composer 7.0 to Bex Analyzer

    Dear Experts,
             I created a button in my Visual Composer model that has the following settings:
    System action:  Hyperlink
    Apply to:  Self
    Hyperlink address:  "...QUERY=BMMSEG_C01_SAS_Q0001&BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE&BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1&BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC=MBUDAT&BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING=08/22/2006;08/28/2006"
            Basically, what I need is to pass a range of dates from Visual Composer to Bex Analyzer on the characteristic "MBUDAT".  However, it only brings back the data with those specific dates, not the range.
          I don't think this is the correct syntax to pass in a range value:  08/22/2006;08/28/2006  Please advise how should I do it.
    Thank you in advance,
    Kevin

    Hi J GOEL,
           Thank you for your quick response.  I created a date range variable ZPSTDAT, and then I passed in the oncatenated value to my Bex query (for this example, let says the From date is 08/22/2006, and the To date is 08/28/2006 ).
          Here's what I passed in into the url:
    ...QUERY= BMMSEG_C01_SAS_Q0001
    &BI_COMMAND_1-BI_COMMAND_TYPE=SET_SELECTION_STATE
    &BI_COMMAND_1-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_LIST-TARGET_DATA_PROVIDER_REF_1=DP_1
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-CHARACTERISTIC= ZPSTDAT
    &BI_COMMAND_1-CHARACTERISTICS_SELECTIONS-CHARACTERISTIC_SELECTIONS_1-SELECTIONS-SELECTION_1-SELECTION_INPUT_STRING= 08/22/2006:08/28/2006
       However, it returns all the records, so it seems like it doesn't even accept the range value that I passed into the Bex.  Do you mind to please show me the url you have that pass in the date range.  I just need to see the date range part, not the entire url.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Regards,

    Hi Rakesh,
    use the 'verify' icon in the query designer to check whether your query definition is correct. Furthermore you
    can check if you can execute the query in the backend with transaction RSRT2. In TA RSRT2 try re-generating
    the query before running it.
    Also make sure that your are running the latest patch for your BI Java installation. If not and you have upgraded to
    the latest version, you have to restart the J2EE-server after the deployment.
    Best regards,
    Alex

  • Error generating data provider-Query cant be released

    Hello Experts,
    I am working on web template (WAD 3.5) where i have 6 graphs each having independadnt data provider (Bex query).
    I also have drop boxes which represents the selection screen of queries attached to graphs.
    'Affected data providers list' of dropboxes consist of all data providers that are attached to graphs in template, as each graph is supposed to get refreshed if user changes drop box selection.
    Template was working fine until i made the change to query 2 which is dataprovider 2 for graph 2.
    Since then i am not able to run template it gives me error -
    -The query cant be release for OLE DB for OLAP
    -Query couldnt be open
    -Error generating data provider.
    As i checkd that qury independantly in query analyzer, its working perfect without any error.
    What could be the possible reason for this error then??
    regards,
    Pritesh.

  • XML Data Provider - Information

    Hi!
    I am using the web item "Data Provider - Information" in the WAD to get a query result in XML. When i choose view source in the explorer i can see the XML generated.
    My problem is that this generated XML generates one "XML set" for the characteristics in the query and one "XML set" for the key figures in the query.
    By this i mean that when i copy the xml from the "view source" file and save it as its own XML file i have to save it as one file for the Key Figures and one file for the Characteristics.
    Like this(Characteristic OMaterial and KeyFiure NetValue):
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <item>
    <material>12345</material>
    </item>
    and
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <item>
    <net_value>100</net_value>
    </item>
    I would like the web item to generate a XML file that includes both the KeyFigures and the Characteristics.
    Like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <item>
    <material>12345</material>
    <net_value>100</net_value>
    </item>
    Do any of you know if/how this is possible?
    Thanks,
    Charlotte

    Hey, sounds like you're getting pretty close. The next thing is integrating the XSLT transform into a web template. I'm actually working on a paper on this that I'll put out at some point. Anywho, here's a sample template that does the XSLT transform on load of the page... The most important thing is that the web template has property "STATELESS=X" so that any navigation you do reruns the transform. This way, you can still navigate and do BW type activities while still transforming the result set. This is very powerful and you'll be able to change or do anything using XSLT transforms. I'm even working on creating javascript functions that run these transforms to do left outer joins and inner joins based on 2 XML result sets. This way, even if data isn't modeled together, it can be presented together. I'm working through the kinks of some of these transforms. Also, I'm working to integrate stylesheet support into my transform as well. Just substitute your transform into the sample template below and it'll render an html table for the XML Query Result Set.

  • W25    The Characteristic %NV% is not found in data provider ...

    Hi Gurus,
    we are currently starting to use the BI Portal. I want to publish a Query, which really works fine in BEx Analyzer, in the Portal using a Web Template.
    So I used the BEx Web Application Designer to create a Template where I just inserted the Analysis Item with my data provider.
    In BEx Web Application Designer I get the warning "W25 The Characteristic %NV% is not found in data provider XXX" - and when I open my Query in the Portal I get the dump message
    "ERROR RS_EXCEPTION (000): SQL0104N  An unexpected token """" was found following "'1' AND "I"."SVER" =".  Expected tokens may include:  "<space>".  SQLSTATE=42601
      MSGV1: SQL0104N  An unexpected token """" was found

    ABEND RSBOLAP (000): Programmfehler in Klasse SAPMSSY1 Methode : UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION

    Does anybody have an idea what's the problem? Please?

  • Cannot load query "ZBM_M020_Q001" (data provider "DP_1": {2})

    I'm getting this error message when I try to run any of my bookmarks in this new bi system
    My url looks like:
    http://<myserver>:<myport>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=REP_20090803204848&BOOKMARK=4EPI80Q37TF1VDU8EBTPT8RSY
    I get this message: Cannot load query "ZBM_M020_Q001" (data provider "DP_1": )
    When I click on "Information" I see the message: "Document class parameters are incomplete "
    If I leave out the bookmark like:
    http://<myserver>:<myport>/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/pcd!3aportal_content!2fcom.sap.pct!2fplatform_add_ons!2fcom.sap.ip.bi!2fiViews!2fcom.sap.ip.bi.bex?QUERY=REP_20090803204848
    executes successfully.
    If i create a new bookmark using this query and then execute it it executes fine.
    This new BI Sys was created from Production, and somehow these bookmarks are not activated.
    I looked in RSWR_DATA and I can see that all of them are type 'B', bookmarks.
    Anyone know how this issue can be resolved so these bookmarks are usable?
    Mike
    Edited by: Michael Hill on Mar 30, 2010 5:41 PM

    No it does not work. The bookmark is corrupted with DP_1.
    I agree that the URL you have proposed should work without the query though. In fact you can put anything you want and it will work becuase the relevant information is stored in the bookmark, e.g the following works too!
    ?query=xyz&BOOKMARK=4EPI80Q37TF1VDU8EBTPT8RSY
    I include the query in the url so I can remember what query the bookmark belongs to.
    This pm we should have the fix transported to that system and I can adjust the bookmark.
    Thanks for your reply!

  • TS4006 I have lost my iphone, i rang my service provider who deactivated my sim. Id requested an erase of my iphone on icloud but the device is offline & erase still pending. If someone was to put there sim in my phone when they connect to the net will it

    I have lost my iphone. I rang my service provider who deactivated my sim card as I am on a contract. I logged into icloud and my device is appearing offline however i requested the erase iphone feature.. which is still pending. My question is how safe is my information... If someobody was to put there sim into my iphone would it delete my info as soon as they got signal? I luckily had a security code activated when the phone is switched on this must be entered and when the phone locks. Any help would be appreciated.

    The erase will be executed if it ever goes back online with Find My iPhone still enabled on the phone, whether that's via wifi or 3G.  The good news is that if you set a passcode on the phone before it was lost your data is safe even if the remote erase command isn't executed.  The only way someone would be able to use the phone without the passcode is to force it into recovery mode (which erases all data) and restore it as a new iPhone.

    We are facing a weird issue while using Design Studio 1.2. Locally the tool works fine but when we use it from BI-Launchpad or through BI Enterprise it gives intermittent error "Error while generating Data Provider"
    Same setup works fine in our Validation Environment.
    We have tried running repair for Design Studio, redeploy the war files, creating new view but issue still exist.
    We have BI 4.0 SP7 installed on Windows 2008 R2 system.

  • Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider

    Hi BW World;)
    We are on BI 7.0
    I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
    However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
    Is this the normal scenario?
    Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
    Is this a bug?

    Hi,
    You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query.Now the base for Query View is a Query.So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
    Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube,but not the Query View.
    So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
    If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider,but not the query View.
    Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

  • Extracting SQL statement from a Webi document's data provider using SDK.

    Hi all,
    Is it possible to extract the SQL statement from an existing Webi document's data provider using BO SDK?  I've searched through the class library but haven't found any information on this yet.  If you have done it, could you provide some guidance.  Many thanks.

    I found the following Java code that might be of some help to you. I realize you are using .NET but this might push you down the right path.
    The trick here is to use the Report Engine SDK to get the DataProvider of the DocumentInstance. Then, look at the SQLDataProvider to get your SQLContainer.
    My apologies for the poor formatting. This didn't copy and paste over to the forums very well. I've cleaned up as much as I could.

  • Web Template is not able to fetch data from Data Provider

    hi friends,
               i have created a reporting agent for a particular query and given all the necessary parameters, defined the variants and activated this and created a scheduling package to this ,assigned my query to the scheduling package
               later in the web template,in the web item tab i maintained  the read mode as precalculated web template and the final report on the web is saying web tempalte is not able to get the data from the data provider  ,
