Bezigon tool (or function)

A frequent function in vector tools is to draw a straight line and, while holding the mouse, drag the point to the desired position before dropping and fixing it. (unlike the dragging of the pen tool that modifies the handles of the point)
Freehand's bezigon tool did this quite well-
I know that in illustrator I can do the same holding the space bar and maintaining the mouse clicked, but, personally, i find it a cumbersome and slow key combination. Besides ,frequently I want to constraint the angles of the lines with shift or alt, requiring a really uncomfortable two or three fingers position that can't be customized.
I wouldn't want to add new tools to AI (actually i would remove some of them), but i could use this bezigon function in my daily work.
Another option would be assigning the pen tool an optional bezigon option that you can turn on and off. This behaviour would deactivate the dragging of the handles of the anchor point, moving the anchor point instead.
A third option would be to draw a preview of the next segment before fixing it (like the excellent Aviary's Raven does)

Thanks Scott, but i'd been unable to customize the spacebar shortcut in CS3 in the Edit/Keyboard Shorcuts menu :(
I don't see any function assigned to the spacebar...could you tell me how is defined the"reposition anchor point while drawing" in that menu?
Still what i really want is not to use any shortcut when repositioning the points (and saving my fingers for other shorcuts)

I really don't know what you mean by "stop functioning". The Zoom tool will always work when selected.
Is there a specific example you have in mind? Give us the exact version of Photoshop you are using, and the version of Mac OSX or Windows.
A screenshot outlining your problem is best.

In Illustrator, group the objects that you want to punch through, and use the transparency pallet.

ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR MUST HAVE A BEZIGON TOOL

i found out that freehand is an easier tool for drawing because of its bezigon tool (draws path using automatic curvature.). for an illustrator who's using mouse, it is very helpful to use the said tool. i hope adobe add this tool on illustrator.

Text tool not functioning properly, deleting text automatically

I am trying to work on a psd document, the text tool is not working as it should,
If i try to reseize some text or click return to go down a line the function will not be excuted and just not show my desired changes.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Any help would be amazing!!

Using search tool on function or control pallette causes Labview to close

With either the control or function pallette, when I choose the search tool (magnifying glass icon), I get an hourglass for about 20 seconds, then any open Labview windows closes. Labview closes completely, I don't even get back to the startup dialog.
I know this has worked before. Has anyone else seen this behaviour?
Using Labview 6.1 & WinXP Home SP1

I have not heard of this happening before. Mine sometimes takes a few seconds to get up and running but not that long, and it never crashes. You might just want to reinstall LabVIEW. That should fix the problem and will probably be quicker in the long run than trying to hunt down the cause.

VS2008 developer tools tableadapter functionality

Hi,
I have use VS Developer Tools in VS2005. I used to be able to create tableadapters. I have upgraded (I thought it's was an upgrade) to VS2008. I miss the drag and drop functionality of the Oracle tools I had with VS2005. My database server is 10g R2. I have uninstalled everything Oracle, and installed the VS Developer tools for 10g, then for 11g and followed the directions to remove the policies for the 11g Oracle.DataAccess.dll in the GAC. I can successfully create a connection, and I can filter, but when I try to add a data source, it won't let me create a tableadapter, whether I use the wizard, or create the dataset first and then try to add one via the query window - it just hangs the IDE and I have to force it to close. I'll freely admit I'm not an Oracle expert. I don't see a lot on the forum about tableadapters. Is everyone just coding everything by hand, or am I trying to do something that the VS tools won't do?

Other software I have installed which accesses oracle database:

Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.4
I'm back at it today, we've one of our staff out sick. I can't understand what could possibly be taking so long. I can expand the tables tab of any schema with Oracle SQL Developer in just a few seconds. Any table schema expands almost instantly. I can pull data from the database (enough to populate a screen-sized data grid), nearly instantly.
I do not have any problems accessing tables or schema in Crystal Reports.
In Visual Studio 2008, I am using .NET version 3.5 SP1, AND Version 9.0.30729.1 SP of the IDE. In server explorer, I can connect to the 10g database right away, and removing all filters except displayed schema = CPR to show a single schema, I am able to expand the list of tables for this single schema in approximately 8 to 10 seconds. By checking the box, disable this filter in every schema object type except tables, I was able to speed this up to near instant, however, dragging a table from the server explorer to the schema designer still does not pop up the table adapter wizard. I'm sure if I wait 20 minutes, it will work though.

Clone Stamp Tool Align Function

I am using Elements 4.0 on a PC with XP Pro and I can't seem to get the Align option to turn off when I use the Clone Stamp Tool. Deselecting the "Aligned" option on the options toolbar has no effect: the pesky plus sign still follows the cursor everywhere it goes and changes the pixels I want to lay down. The manual doesn't tell me anything -- does anyone have a suggestion? Also, is there a way to set the distance of the plus sign from the cursor? Many thanks.

Thanks so much for the explanations -- I think I understand what is happening now. It seems, also, that the same behavior might apply to some other tools as well. I have a lot to learn....
I do have one more question for the group about the Clone Tool: the cursor always assumes the shape of a circle when cloning -- is it possible to give it a different shape, such as a square or rectangle? Or some irregular shape? Thanks.

Pen tool scissors function

Sometimes I need to put two keyframes in the same spot. For example, using the audio level overlay, if I want the audio level to immediately drop at a certain point rather than have the volume lowered gently between two keyframes. I can approximate this by inserting two keyframes as close to each other as possible, but I wondered if there was an automatic way to do this. In Adobe Premiere (which I used to use), I think this tool was called the scissors tool (but I could be wrong about what it was called). Is there a tool that does this in FCE?

Skalicki--I don't know if it's like an Adobe "hold" keyframe because I don't know what that is. You're right about using the blade tool--I've done that sometimes too to accomplish what I want. I was just wondering if FCE had a tool for setting these "dual" keyframes. It's obviously not a big deal if it doesn't since there are fairly easy workarounds.

Control 0 and space bar (hand tool) not functioning.

When I press control 0 in the editor the image no longer returns to full screen. It becomes an image about 1/4 of the screen. Also when I press space bar to get the hand tool the hand appears but it doesn't move the image around when I try to drag it. I have reset all tools and the hand and zoom tools but it hasn't helped. Can anyone help?

What operating system are you using?
Are you using floating document windows or tabbed document windows?
Have you tried resetting the pse 12 editor preferences by going into the General section of the preferences and clicking on Reset preferences on next launch?

Illustrator shape tools not functioning properly

When I try to draw any shapes in illustrator they keep repeating:
I have restarted illustrator several times and deleted the pref file.
Also, there aren't any keys stuck on the keyboard.
Can anyone Help?

Actually I've solved the problem myself.
There was a problem with my keyboard as I unplugged it and plugged it again and everything seems to work now.

Hi Johnny,
It looks as if neither is available. So, you might need to implement a customization.
However, you can give your operators an access to Message Board or Create Message button so that they can manually create a message. And you can create your own message type for this need.

CS4 Show tool tips not functioning in adjustment mode

Show Tool Tips function is not functioning(no display) in any adjustment panel. Was working previously. It is checked in preferences and does work on uppermost main tool bar. At times it was slowish to respond but eventually did. Working with PS4 in Design Premium. Checked function box on and off several times as well as opening and closing program and also shutting down computer. Any help or something else I need to look at in preferences? Thanks. Bob
Edit: Tool Tips function works fine in "In Design" and "Illustrator" so it appers it has to be something in Photoshop

I tried that link several weeks ago and did a reset, I do not want to do delete the preference files if at all possible. I am certain that you know what my problem is but if you don't mind. I would like to clarify what is going on. Previously in the preferences file under the interface label there is a box to turn on or off the tool tips function. It has always been "on". Whenever I wanted to see what an icon's function was related in a panel I placed the cursor on it an it would show it's function. I. e. make a new layer, mask, etc. It no longer does that when I am in the adjustment panel. The function works when I click on it and that is not a problem. All I want is the tip or hint or label as to what the icon's function is to appear and that is what I ubderstand is what the show tool tips function I have CS3 running on another machine and this function it works fine. If I turn it off in the preference fill it no longer works I also have elements 8 on my daughters laptop and that is also fine...on works, off doesn't workI do not have any problems in the tools venue. All function properly and all sub menus work fine.
Any other suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks again for replying
