BF2 with 5.1 Soundblas

I just baught a Sound Blaster 5. card from a computer fair. I installed it and the software. I go into Battlefield 2 and i go to the audio properties. And i change the setings to Hardware, High Quality.
I play the game and the voices lagg.
I put down the quality and it still laggs.
I switch it to software and it doesnt lag.
Also i have the option to use: Creative X-FI instead of the others. I choose it and it says it wont run on my system.
Any know how to fix both these problems, and where i can get some good 5. software.

You can't use X-Fi sound because you don't have an X-Fi, also a 5. card will bre pretty old which will prevent you from getting decent performance.

  • Positional Audio in BF2 - X-Fi Xtreme mu

Not sure if I will be able to protray this right or not so forgive me ahead of time.
IN BF2 while in vehicles my center channel seems to be off to the right. for example while driving a jeep if I turn my head so that I am looking straight ahead, sound seems to be "low". BUT If I turn my head to the right (I am talking about in-game head, not MY head) then there is this "awakening" of sound. The jeep has a very "full" sound. If I pan my "in-game head" left to right, there seems to be this small area off to the right that should be in the center. In other words the position seems to be off. Gun shots come from the center and seem fine; it only seems to be in vehicles. Panning the tank turret also gives me this effect. It makes me want to dri've my vehicle off to the right because it seems that's where the front of the vehicle is.
Does this make sense to anyone else? Does this happen to anyone else?

I posted this in another thread, but it is relevant to using the THX diagnostic "TAB":
After loading the driver set from Sept. 9, 06, I went in to my system and made sure everything was working. From the THX control panel I ran the channle test, and the girl came through on each channel correctly (left, center, right, R right, R left). When I set the control panel to the diagnostic tab, AND use the white noise diagnostic, my white noise STARTs out of the center speaker instead of the left. SO it goes - Left out of center; center out of right; nothing out of rear right, rear right out of rear left.
When I go back to the tab that shows the colorred connections and use the channel test, The girl starts out on the center speaker and again it's Left from center, center from right, nothing from Rear right, and Rear right from Rear left.
My fix was to uninstal; reinstall from cd, and NOT use the diagnostic tab. As long as I stay away from the white noise in diagnostic it works fine.
I only have an issue in BF2 with the positional audio coming from the center speaker but that is whole nother topic.

  • MIcrophone is muted after I enter BF2 (Sound Blaster Audigy

Hello All,?I have a few questions to ask. After I installed the SoundBlaster, everything sounded really good. I would like to ask several questions. )?I tested my hardware through the Control Panel -- Sound - - Voice -- Test Hardware. Everything checked ok? ( my microphone tested fine)? Is there a easier way to test my mic through Creative Lab software??2)? My old sound system was integrated. I disabled the onboard sound, but do I need to uninstall the software and drivers. ( this may be a conflict)?3) When I enter BF2 ( with mic verified good), Battlefield2 has its own ingame Voip. I ask my squad members if they can hear me and they tell me they can't. [color="#ff0033"> I go[color="#ff0000"] back out of the game and find that my mic has been muted. I don't? understand why this happens. Does the software have a system test without going into the control panel? I know SoundMax has a wizard that helps you setup and test your equipment.
I really like what the sound card does for sound and framerates in my games. It has increase my framerates by 20-30 f
    ps.
I can hear someone crawling up behind me now.
I would appreciate any help you may have. Thanks,IronSights38

) you play a sound through every input and ouputs. for exemple, testing your mic, you plug a mic, unmuite the mic ouput a talk in your mic. 2) It's always wizest to uninstall everything related to a component before removing it. 3) for me it sound perfectly normal. The game doesn't access control panel. It access the normal and unic mixer setting, shared for every applications. The fact is that if BF2 mute yyour mic is because when you use it in game it MUST be shut down. If not you'll hear yourself in your own speakers. BF2 not restoring the mixer settings after leaving is a BF2 problem, and a common one for many other applications. Programmers forget to save the current mixer settings when launching their app, and then when you leave it has been modified.

  • MACBOOK AND BF2

hey, im curious if anyone has tried bf2 with a macbook. i plan on upgrading to 2gb and possibly a 7200rpm hd. i know the intergrated graphics card isnt for games like this but im wondering if its playable on the lowest settings possible just for a quick game. im basically asking because im a student and money is tight. worst comes to worst and i look for a desktop that can run it but id rather have the macbook be my primary computer.
let me know, if its even worth trying.
also, i heard a rumor that owc was making some sort of use or firewire video card... is that even possible?

you could run most games in lowest setting because intel GMA is not that bad, the bad thing is apple limit the shared memory to 64, so it chugged on heavy gaming or graphic program.
About external video card, from what I know it is usb 2.0 vga card with 32 mb dedicated memory (even smaller than intel shared memory), it intended to be use on older laptop that limit to 4, 8 mb or 16 mb, and or laptop that doesn't support spanning or mirroring capabilities.
the price is around $ 300, which I don't think it is worth of the money.
If you really want powerful graphic and willing to spend that extra cost, consider Mac Book Pro rather than Mac Book, since the price descrepencies is around $ 400 from the black
to the basic MacBook Pro model.

  • Battlefield 2 clo

I just got my x-Fi Fataly card and installed it perfectly, no sound hitches or anything. Installed drivers from site and have not opened the cd that it came with. When I go into BF2 and enable the sound card, (it detects it) and press apply, the game crashes to the desktop. I'm about to try it out on Oblivion, but wanted to hear the game like a real battle field first T-T.
    System specs:
    AMD64 3800+ x2 water cooled.
evga SLI mobo with latest drivers (waiting for my an8 fataly to be RMA'd)
    windows xp sp2
those 300 dollar crosair 2-3-2-6 with led 2gigs
7800gt not using a 2nd for sli because it's too crowded in my case already.
    usb card for mouse
    500watt psu
    I believe that's all
By the way, I must say these sound so awesome with my Klipsch THX 2. speakers. Just wish I can enable the sound card in bf2 with out the game crashing, the sound settings are on game mode as well. Should I disable the cyrstalizer for gamming mode? This is really bugging me.

Yea, I believe that I said it was in game mode in my first post, but if not, then yea it is.
Nope, never knew there was a hotfix for dual core for windows. Man, that would make my games run better I'm betting and yea, I've tried reinstalling the game and drivers and with the newest patches for bf2. After I reinstall and try the game once the exe gets messed up and I wouldn't be able to start up bf2 till I restart the computer. If you could be so kind can you tell me how to find this hotfix for dual core? I always have to arrange my games with imagecfg in cmd promt so they run smoother because of dual core. I should of went with single core =/ but these are are faster then my 3.2ghz int cpu so yea .
I'll go google the hot fix now, but would help if you can post a link just incase and I'll be happy and try it out. All my other games work just fine but they're all set on one cpu as well. bf2 is the same, but still doesn't work, I'm betting that hotfix will fix it at least. At least fix my other games.
Lol, didn't look at your name and didn't know what you were talking about till after I posted this. lol, don't feel bad tho, we all make mistakes, just like how I don't like reading through a lot of info that usally isn't needed. I'll be eatting the web2.0 when it fully comes out. Now I can't find that hotfix, and don't know if it's that dual core amd hotfix I've found. The windows fix is dated after that amd fix so.... I doubt that's the one I'm looking for.Message Edited by Yuffies on 03-23-200602:04 PM

  • Bar on left side of display

This may not be the right forum but I will start here.  After loading windows, games and other programs, I noticed while playing BF2 with all settings set high that there is a double line going down the left side of the display.  In the center of the line is a section of green that grows big and get small as I play BF2.  It looks like a profermance indicator that only shows up in games that uses high settings.  It does not show up in windows, games like CIVIII or non-games like office2003.  Does any one know what it is and how to turn it off?  Thanks

Try unchecking box marked "Show GPU Load Balancing"in "Display Properties"

  • New OpenAL v2.0.3 071

http://developer.creative.com/articl...&top=38&aid=46?Apologies if prev. posted. Looked and didn't see anything yet. ...now if I could only remember how we used to patch BF2 with it.Message Edited by johnston2 on 07-4-200707:30 PM

The OpenAL installer shouldn't have any effect on an Audigy/X-Fi soundcard. It only includes a router, which selects either the NON included nati've OpenAL engine (ct_oal.dll) or the included DirectSound3D wrapper or the Software EAX2 emulator. So there is no difference in sound or otherwise. All the stated corrections/bugs are for the DS3D wrapper and the software engine, which are all designed for non-SoundBlaster cards that have no nati've OpenAL drivers.

  • Overclocking NX6600-VTD128E Diamond? First Time

Well, I'm getting a MSI NX6600-VTD128E Diamond Video Card on tuesday (FedEx Ground) and I'm just wanting to know what to overclock it to without my 300W Powersupply goes out. I've used the PSU calculator and it said I only needed 264W of power after I get the video card.
Here are some questions from a noob:
    1. What to overclock it to? I've looked at several sites: http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=949&page=11 and http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=05vga00gf6600gtmsi000006600pcie0204. Hexus overclocked it a lot more than overclockers.. and I'm stuck to where i'm supposed to go..
    2. What programs? I read the stickies and I was thinking of using RivaTuner. Is that the best for nVidia?
    Thanks in Advance

    Thanks
    Lol, no, thank you
I'll get back to you when I get the card, hopefully today, but snow will delay the process most likely.. :(
And cool VIVO feature, too bad my computer is a long way apart from my TV or dish..
And.. Wow, i DID NOT expect BF2 with most settings on high using this card.. but I'll probably just try it out first and if I need more performance, i'll go to 500/1000
    Thanks Again

  • Microphone Boost chan

My problem with BF2 and X-Fi Elite Pro is the following:
I play BF2 with Teamspeak in the background. The card performs very well with the sounds and VoIp.
But, when I change maps or even Alt-tab to desktop and back, the Microphone Boost is not working anymore, needing me to alt-tab back to desktop, switch on the Microphone Boost and switch back to the game.
I played with an Audigy 2 ZS before and this never happened with that soundcard.
So the question is, how can I lock the microphone boost so that it stays that way and doesn't change back.

    Hi,
No I'm afraid there is no way to lock the mike (or any other mixer settings). Introducing a 'lock' feature into the mixer would create more problems that it would solve since applications regularly tweak the volume and if they were unable to do so it would generate errors within the application.
Anyway regarding this one. The most likely cause is that a piece of software is re- setting the boost option (quite like the game in this case). You could try and narrow trhis down by disabling any unused startup programs such as MS CONFIG. Try using another VOIP application as a test during gameplay. Try another game (or game demo) and see how it behaves.
I assume you are running in Game Mode and have the Beta driver that supports OpenAI . (SBXF_PCDRVBETA_LB_2_09_000.exe)?
    Hope this hel

  • Stupid time limit driv

    Ok,
I want to know who's idea it was to put a time limit on the 2.09 drivers!
If Creative isn't going to release drivers for 7-8 month stretches they can't put time limits on drivers that fix people's issues.
Holy crap! I wasn't able to play BF2 with any driver version but 2.09 and have the X-Fi hardware profile turned on. Now I can't play. Thanks so much!
How easy would it have been to just not put the @#$#ing time limit in the driver package. Maybe your driver team should concentrate on writing more than a line of code a day instead of how to make users more pissed off with this hardware.
Ban me. I don't care anymore. You have made me sooooo mad. My problems were fixed over a month ago and you disabled them! @#$#@!!!
The X-Fi has been one of the worst purchases I have made in 20 years of gaming. The funny part is that the hardware is pretty good. The drivers are terrible and the corporate policies governing the software engineer(s) further compounds the issues with half baked drivers and an obviously under manned drivers team. ( guy?)
If there was ANY other hardware accelerated card on the market I'd be using it.

Can't u just set back the date on your rig?
To like march or sumthin? Might crash with other progs, but worth a shot.

  • First time this has happ

When I click on the counsole launcher this is what pops up,
The current selected audio device is not supported by this application. Do you want to select another audio device now?
What the hell is this now, I was just playing BF2 with my head set on and wanted to go back to my 5. speakers. So I did what I always do, go to the counsole and swith it back to 5. in the game mode set up.
This card has a mind of its own and is driving me nuts I tell you.

Just had the same thing w/ my Elite Pro -- didn't have sound at all too. Reboot fixed it. Doesn't increase my confidence in CL or the card at all.

  • K8N Neo4 Plat / RAM questions

I'm probably going to purchase a K8N Neo4 Platinum for a friend's new rig.  However, I'm confused about a couple of memory issues.
    1) If using two DIMMS, which slots should I use to get dual-channel working?
    2) I've heard the board has problems running two double-sided DIMMs at DDR400 speeds, and so defaults to DDR333.  True or False?
    3) If the above is false, can the board run two double-sided DIMMs at DDR400 and 1T command rate?

MSI recommends slots 1 and 2.  1 is green and 2 is purple.  Green is Channel A and Purple is Channel B.  I have two Double Sided Corsair DDR 400 Dimms and they run just fine.  If you have a big HSF (as I do), it sits very close to the RAM if you put it 1 and 2.  So, I moved everything over to 3 and 4 so that the hot air from the HSF isn't venting onto the RAM.  I've been able to play BF2 with no problems with the memory in slots 3 and 4.  I'm not sure about setting the command rate to 1T though.

  • Audigy 2 zs when will the gods smile at

I have the (i)famous Audigy2 zs and have the problem that when sounds reapeat themself it crackles for example a machine gun firing fast in a game (a 2-3sec wav file that repeats itself).
I hear thes in BF2 with the mp5/blackhawk heli minigun and in dirextx diag soundtest (bird sound).
Lets post some info of ours systems (we that have the problem) to get some conclusions as just saying hello! im also having the problem wont solve anything!
    Post for example your:
    Chipset type
IRQ given to soundcard and if its charing it with something else
    Is your system overclocked
    Is the PCI bus locked
    What drivers are you using
Chech dxdiag and see the dates of the dx files (mines are 2004-08-03)
IF you are using a ps2 keyboard or mouse
    Headphones or speakers
Do you have the aeax console and al those programs (thx/calibration/equalizer) installed
Lets start with these and continue to seek for the light!

Ok it works, but you only get 2.1 instead of 7.1 ..... i hop creative guys hurry up because even the latest version of the drivers for vista doesn t work.
It isn't a driver problem, but your system/configuration! Make sure you have enabled the "CMSS" option in the CMSS-3D tab, if you have 7.1 speakers. Also make sure, you select 7.1 speakers in both AudioConsole and the Windows Sound/Multimedia properties. Microsoft does not allow for these changes to be made by an external program (like in Windows XP). You can also use Windows' built-in mixer to check the individual volumes of each speaker, like you did with Surround Mixer in XP.

  • ITunes 7, not a good Idea with BF2, TS2, and IE

I just recently updated to the new iTunes 7 and found it to be the best looking media player I've seen. So I log on my TS2(TeamSpeak 2 Client) and bam my music that I was listing to starts to play fast and crackle. I start to get frustrated so I log off my TS2 and start to play BF2. I connect to a BF2 server that has VOIP enabled and bam my music that I was listing to starts to play fast and crackle. So im like ok this is ****** up and quiut BF2. I then decide that im gunna do some searching for whats happening. And as soon as I change the page BAM my music starts to speed upp and crackle. I am not a mac user but ever since testing the Vista Beta 2 i've come to realize that Vista is gunna fail, so ive started taking intrests in Apple some more. Then this happenes, and well this is just sad. To me it seems like Apple has mad a Microsoft mistake, in not taking enough time to test there products just so they can get other stuff on the market. If any body can come up with a fix it would be freatly apreciated.
