BFD Drums & Logic Pro X

How can I get BFD ECO Drum Plugin to work on Logic Pro X?
I am a complete learner & have tried using AU Lab & Soundflower & I can get a signal but no output to my reference speakers. Is there a simple way to get this to work?
Help?

  • Logic Pro 7.3 Bleeping Siren from **** - Please help!!!

Folks, I've recently upgraded my system software and now when I boot up Logic 7.2 / 3, after a short amount of time of opening plug ins and recording stuff, a very loud bleeping comes out of the speakers and shortly afterwards Logic 'unexpectedly' quits.
My set up is now as follows.....
Mac G5 1.8 dual with 250gig main HD and 250gig dedictaed audio HD
    OSX 10.4.8 (just downloaded)
Logic 7.3 (just downloaded to replace Logic 6 Pro)
Many audio plug ins which I've never had any problems with before, but the most recent additions are FXPansion's BFD module and Spectrasonic's Trilogy module.
PLUS, lots of other software / plugins, all of which are originals and have never given me any problems before.
The audio interface I'm using (and have done with no problems for some time, til now?) is an M-Audio 410 Firewire Interface.
Anyway, after downloading OSX 10.4.8, the Trilogy and BFD, my Logic Pro 6 refused to boot up at all (despite following the download instructions to the letter) so I downloaded the Logic 7.2 (updated to 7.3 now) and this booted up but then presented me with the bleeping siren issue.
I've tried updating all drivers to the very latest versions, on absolutely everything I'm running.
I've tried bypassing the M-Audio FW410 and instead routing everything through the Mac Built-in Speakers, but still the bleeping persists
I've tried verifying disk permissions and the verifying the disks themselves and then repairing both permissions and disks (having discovered one or two minor issues) yet still the problem persists.
It's only Logic that seems to be throwing up any problems with audio as ITunes etc. all work fine.
Hopefully, if anyone's still alive after reading all of this, you might be able to help...?!!
Many thanks folks - much appreciated if you can.

Firstly, there is no Logic 7.3, so I assume you mean 7.2.3. Also, I'm not sure how you "downloaded" 7.2 as it's a paid retail upgrade only.
But anyway. Start Logic without the audio drivers ( hold CONTROL at startup ), and run the Logic AU Manger. Disable all plugins for now, and restart Logic.
    Does it load now?
If not, follow all the standard troubleshooting procedures ( http://logicquicktips.blogspot.com/2006/10/troubleshooting-logic.html ) and if you still get no joy, it sounds like there might be some installation issues with your setup...

  • How do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please

how do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please. my version is 7.2.3 and my son did his drums on 4 tracks. 2 OH's 1 Kick and 1 Snare. Were confused because we cant figure out how to do parallel compression on the older logic version 7.2.3?

I can't remember when the Aux tracks became the new buss tracks, so I'll spell this out using busses.
The way I do it, is I assign all my drum tracks to a buss, say buss 1.
Then, on buss 2, I assign it's INPUT to buss 1.
So buss 1 (all the drums) are feeding into buss 2 simultaneously.
Put a compressor on buss 2, turn the fader down all the way, then as the track is playing, bring buss 2's fader up slowly, until you hear the effect you're after.
You could also do this using sends on the 4 drum tracks, set to feed the buss with the compressor on it.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything particular to that version of Logic. See if this helps...

Don't drag the midi into an open Logic project. The tracks won't set up correctly.
'Open' the midi file with Logic as if it were a Logic project. Then all the tracks will be set up so you can start editing them and applying better saved sounds and instruments, but you'll be at a starting place where you can hear what's going on.

  • Ultrabeat in Logic Pro X is missing drum kits

    Hi,
So recently, I got Logic Pro X because I've been meaning to try producing house music with it. I was introduced to Ultrabeat in some tutorials saying to click the dropdown menu (at the top) and select 01 drum kits and choose Trance Kit 02. However, when I click the dropdown menu, I seem to only have 8 samples in the drum kit and none of them sound good at all. Why do I have only 8? I've seen other discussions where people have up to 25+, is this something that I can download from the additonal content? And if so, what is it called?
    Many Thanks!
    MChen.

    Try Drum Machine
....and also the Logic Studio 2 Compatibility Sounds and Instruments found under the Legacy entry.... along with the GB 11 Sounds and instruments.. and finally the Instruments found under Jam pack 1, Jam Pack Remix and Jam Pack Rhythm,
Also make sure the Essential Sounds and Instruments set has downloaded completely too...
Personally, if you have the space, I'd download all the content...  as there is so much on offer for free... that you may find useful in the future.

  • Why do all of the drum kits in Logic Pro X have a delay? All of my drum hits (drum kits only, not drum machine) are behind the beat.

When I turn on the metronome, it's in sync with EVERYTHING except the drum kits.
Is anyone else having this problem?
When I change the plugin on the these tracks to a LPX drum machine or to a 3rd party drum plugin  the problem goes away.

    Is Plug-in Latency Compensation enabled?

Who do you think I am? Santa Claus?
What you need is not a mixer, but an audio interface with at least 4 mic inputs. There is a lot of choice there, but you should indicate a budget. You can go from, say, € 300 to € thousands, if you want.
    Roland UA 1010
    Focusrite Scarlett 18i8
However, there are other options (like multi-out mixer plus multi in interface, or standalone mic preamps plus interface with 4 inputs, etc). I have little experience using these however so I really cannot say much about which one(s) to get. The two mentioned above both have four mic preamps, but they are by no means the only way to do it.
The cheapest solution I can think of is to get a second 1204USB, plug it in, and in OS X create an Aggregate device (=the two are being merged into 'one virtual' interface with two discrete stereo (= four discrete mono) inputs. Disadvantage: you keep the same (limited) soundquality of the 16 bits convertors. Getting any of the interfaces mentioned earlier will also mean you'll make the significant step up from 16 to 24 bits sound.

  • How do you export a drum track to Music XML from Logic Pro

I have a song in Logic Pro with a compound drum track that consists of a Drummer subtract as well as a manually written drum track using the same kit (for specific fills and kicks) as well as a drum line with auxilliary percussion. I kinda figured there was no way to combine the subtracts, so I am OK exporting each to Music XML separately (although if someone knows how to combine, I am all ears). I created a new software instrument using the same drum kit as the Drummer track and options-dragged the Drummer track to the new software instrument to convert it. However, when I view the Score Editor window for ANY of the three drum tracks, it does not come up in drum notation, but in bass cleff. The Style is blank and I don't know how to change it to drums.
I want to export to MusicXML to give my drummer music, so I am exporting this to Musescore.
Does anybody know how to export drum tracks properly? I am using Logic Pro 10.0.7
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks for the quick response!
I got the Join part, but when I look at the Score view for the song below I don't get the characteristics editor your screenshot shows (see attachment one). However, I can pull this up if I select on the regions in the track I want and select Window -> Score Editor. However, under Style, I can select the pulldown with a bunch of pre-defined options, non-of which are "#Drums". How does one put #Drums into the Style field (see second attachment)?

  • Logic Pro 9 will not Host BFD Eco?

BFD Eco works fine as a Stand alone in my Computer. BFD Eco even shows up in Logic Pro's Audio Units Manager. The box next to BFD is checked and shows as validated. Then after selecting BFD Eco I press the (reset and rescan seletion) button. But Logic Pro still won't recogonize BFD Eco.
    Any advice?

What version did you have installed initially and what version did they tell you to update to?
Are you absolutely sure you are looking in the right place for the BFD Eco Software instrument in Logic? If it shows up as validated in the AU Plugin manager then it is quite odd that it would not show uop in the Software Instrument list. It may not open when you click on it, but it should show up there... at the very least
You know you are looking in the right place if you can also see the various Software instruments (Not FX..) that are included with Logic such as EXS 24... Can you see the EXS 24 Software Intrument when you go to find the BFD Eco Software instrument?  if you cannot see the EXS 24 what can you see when you press and hold the Software Instrument button?
Sorry if this seems so obvious a thing to ask and check on hut you wouldn't believe how many times users get this wrong..... They are either incorrectly looking in the Insert/FX section, they haven't created a Software Instrument track but an Audio or EXt Midi track instead.. or they are clicking on the button above the EQ display... or some other odd thing to do... hence my double check with you.
I can tell you, from a chat i had with one of my clients earlier this evening, that Eco works fine in Logic 9.1.8 so it has to be something you haven't done (like installing the correct update although he did confirm that the basic 1.5 update worked fine with 10.6.8 and 9.1.5...) or have done, like pressing the wrong button or looking in the wrong place!

  • Help with Logic Pro X and Addictive Drums

    Hello guys!
Please be patient (and understanding) with my questions
I'm trying to do just a basic task, and once I know how to do it, I will expand upon it.
At this point, all I want to do is use Logic Pro X to record a Drum Track, a Bass Guitar Track, a Electric Guitar Track, and a Vocal Track.
    1) Would you start a New Project from Songwriter or Multi-Track (and why)?
    2) From what screen and how do you open Addictive Drums?
    3) Once Addictive Drums is open, I will pick one of the Preset Patterns and drag it to the Favorites Window on Addictive Drums.
But once I do that, and here's the most important question (so far ), how specifically do I get/put that Drum Pattern into Logic Pro X?
    Thanks in advance!
    Jerry

i've been looking into getting the 01X and been doing some reading. i have no experience with it but i'm interested in hearing more about how you get on. i did find that www.o1xray.com has a forum full of information about setting up logic and the 01X. ElmerJFud seems to be the main dude, his post has a lot of setup information: http://www.01xray.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=7&Board=01X_Macintosh&Number=19978 0&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=1

  • Logic Pro 9 won't trigger A# (open hihat) with Alesis DM6 e-drums

I have an Alesis DM6 e-drum kit that is successfully triggering drum sounds in Logic Pro's EXS24, all with the exception of one note: A#
This is the note that the Alesis sends out when the hihat is in the open position (foot is off the pedal).
It shows up in the MIDI monitor in Logic Pro, and it should be triggering the open hihat sound in EXS24.
Finally, after installing BFD2, I get the same problem, but only if I use BFD2 as a plugin. The Alesis DM6 triggers the sound of the open hihat in BFD2 when it is in "Standalone Mode", but when it is opened as a plugin, I notice that BFD2 has a MIDI monitor which tells me it is receiving the A# note, but the velocity is always "0" as in "zero". ALL OTHER NOTES REGISTER VARYING VELOCITIES, depending on how hard I hit the drum pads, but something in LOGIC 9 won't let the note trigger the open hihat sound, whether it is an EXS24 drum patch or a BFD2 patch.
    Any ideas?

First of all, you are still in Learn Mode, as the button on the bottom right is still darkened. Click it so it becomes lighter, meaning learn mode is no longer active. Then proceed to delete all the assignments, in your screenshot I can see the top message is assigned to A#1 (look at the "input Message" values on the right). But the rest of the assignments do not look like you conciously made them, it's a bit of a mess. You should be aware that cmd-L opens the CA-window, and engages Learn Mode, meaning that whatever is the very first MIDI message you send will be "learnt" as a controller assignment, and it will no longer be availbale as regular MIDI. That's how notes can "disappear" if you're unaware of this function. To open the CA window without engaging Learn Mode, use cmd-K.
(and clicking on the smaller picture will present the full size picture, no need to add that extra link.)

  • Logic Pro X - Only drum machines do not respond on MIDI controller

98% of the time, when I load a drum machine, only a few of the keys on my MIDI controller will respond with sounds. If I switch to any other instrument patch, all keys work perfectly, but when I switch back, it's still spotty. I've disconnected and reconnected, restarted Logic, restarted the computer, and opened new sessions. Anyone have any advice?

Ahh.. ok, it was hard to tell from your original post.
When loaded are you seeing any notifications that samples are missing?
Could possibly by Logic/controller related. (Is this Logic-X?)
    Try deleting Logic's preferences:
In the Finder, choose Go > Go to Folder from the menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the  com.apple.logic10.plist  file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual for details on how to do this.
If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro.
then delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
be sure to delete both files.

how to record a drum track on logic pro

    • What midi interface is it? Do you have a current driver? If everything is alright, GB should say (in the Prefs) "1 midi device detected".
    • Do you have the midi cables connected the right way? Connect the drum machine's midi out with the interface's midi in.

  • G4 Logic pro 8 and BFD

    Hi
As some forum member may recall I have a G4 MDD iam running logic pro on however I tried installing BFD 2 and the cpu goes into the redzone but disk IO is nothing!!
Do I need to get a dual G4 cpu or get a G5
    Current setup
    1.25 cpu single
    1GB of ram
    osx 10.4.11
The weird thing is I tried optermising the G4 such as turning the screen saver off and this helped however after restarting the G4 the Cpu usage still went back in to the red zone but I manage to get the cpu usage down to 75% before rebooting.
The optermisation settings are still enabled is there someting I am missing??
    Message was edited by: G4M

    Hi,
BFD2 requirements shows G5 as the minimum...
2GB of RAM is the minimum too
anyway, just for try, go to bfd Engine settings
set to use 16 bit mode... aloso try to change the ammount of Layers... as 32 or less.
    when install use "Small" option
... but it is very hard for your G4 to use BFD2... a friend of mine use a G4MDD but not BFD2.
    hope this help.

  • Drum loops on Logic Pro 9.?

I have just installed Logic Pro 9 and I am trying to follow the first tutorial  which is an exercise with Apple Loops.  I had a message to say that  there weren't any Apple Loops on my system "Please reinstall Apple Loop Package."  .  I installed iLife which had been missed off my iMac on a recent upgrade at the Apple Store and when I  went back to the Logic exercise, I find that the piano, guiatrs and many other instruments are greyed out.    What should I do?

If you haven't done so already you may want to try and download Additional Content.
