BGP as the PE-CE Protocol
Hi,
What considerations should be kept in mind when using BGP as the PE-CE Protocol.
I have a simple setup with a Main Site Connecting Regional Offices using MPLS as Primary and DXX (Leased line) as Backup.
I think I can modify the AS-Path to make the MPLS Cloud Primary and DXX as Backup
Any other thing I need to take care of ?
Thanks
Zeeshan
Hi,
There are a few things to consider:
- Exit points out either link from within your network using Local Preference.
- Entry points for return traffic over either link, best to use MED.
- If other sites are also running BGP as their IGP, you'd need to think about using the same ASN or different ASN to them. If you go with same ASN, you'd need to ask the provider to configure "as-override" or you could configure "allowas-in" which forces BGP to allow routes in that contain its own ASN (which is dangerous).
- Also, remember convergence times aren't the quickest with BGP, so you may need to tweak timers such as "bgp graceful-restart" and also, simple keepalive and holdtimers.
There are just a few things I could think of for now, as I don't know the size and complexity of your network.
Cheers,
Joe.

Getting error using the EMail Transport Protocol
Hi Gurus,
I am using the EMail Transport Protocol (Custom Document over Generic Exchange).
I am able to send the document using this protocol to a exchange server successfully. but when tried to receive the document from exchange server to Oracle B2B. I am getting the below error.
Description: Unable to identify the document protocol of the message
StackTrace:

As per my knowledge all necessary properties are reaching Oracle B2B. Please go through the b2b.log content below.

VithalHi Nandagopal,
I have configured email idc to send the payload as an attachment. & the attachment I am trying is send is a simple text file. So I am stuck here, how can I check against xPath for the mail :(.
I have copied the sample message below which is there in the SMTP server & ready to be fetched by Oracle B2B. This is how message looks like in the exchange server, before it gets consumed by Oracle B2B.

Regards,
Vithal -
Hello everyone:
I know this question have been asked in these forums quite a few times. I apologize if it is a repeat telecast but I was not able to find a suitable solution pertaining to my problem.
I have a AP/SM setup that is configured to get EAP-PEAP authentication from Windows 2012 Server. I have setup everything and have verified that the EAP-PEAP authentication works fine on AP/SM by getting authentication from FreeRADIUS server. Now, when I try
to get authentication from Windows Server, I am getting a reject. The Event log shows this generic message:
Reason Code: 23
Reason:
An error occurred during the Network Policy Server use of the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP). Check EAP log files for EAP errors.
There is nothing in the EAP logs that is obvious too:

Any idea what might be happening?
Thank you.Hi,
Have you installed certificates on the NPS server properly? Have you selected the proper certificate in the properties of PEAP?
Here is an article about the Certificate requirements of PEAP,
Certificate requirements when you use EAP-TLS or PEAP with EAP-TLS
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/814394
If your certificate matches the requirement, you may try to reinstall the certificate by export and import.
To export a certificate, please follow the steps below,
Open the Certificates snap-in for a user, computer, or service.
In the console tree under the logical store that contains the certificate to export, click
Certificates.
In the details pane, click the certificate that you want to export.
On the Action menu, point to
All Tasks, and then click Export.
In the Certificate Export Wizard, click No, do not export the private key. (This option will appear only if the private key is marked as exportable and you have access to the private key.)
Provide the following information in the Certificate Export Wizard:
Click the file format that you want to use to store the exported certificate: a DER-encoded file, a Base64-encoded file, or a PKCS #7 file.
If you are exporting the certificate to a PKCS #7 file, you also have the option to include all certificates in the certification path.
If required, in Password, type a password to encrypt the private key you are exporting. In
Confirm password, type the same password again, and then click
Next.
In File name, type a file name and path for the PKCS #7 file that will store the exported certificate and private key. Click
Next, and then click Finish.
To import a certificate, please follow the steps below,
Open the Certificates snap-in for a user, computer, or service.
In the console tree, click the logical store where you want to import the certificate.
On the Action menu, point to
All Tasks, and then click Import to start the Certificate Import Wizard.
Type the file name containing the certificate to be imported. (You can also click
Browse and navigate to the file.)
If it is a PKCS #12 file, do the following:
Type the password used to encrypt the private key.
(Optional) If you want to be able to use strong private key protection, select the
Enable strong private key protection check box.
(Optional) If you want to back up or transport your keys at a later time, select the
Mark key as exportable check box.
Do one of the following:
If the certificate should be automatically placed in a certificate store based on the type of certificate, click
Automatically select the certificate store based on the type of certificate.
If you want to specify where the certificate is stored, select
Place all certificates in the following store, click
Browse, and choose the certificate store to use.
If issue persists, you may try to re-issue the certificate.

Has anyone implemented the Amulet Serial Protocol for LabVIEW?
If not, is anyone interested in helping implementing one? I know a lot about the Amulet Serial Protocol, but nothing about LabVIEW. Willing to throw in an Amulet Starter Kit as well.
Amulet Technologies (http://www.AmuletTechnologies.com) has a revolutionary technology which allows you to rapidly author a graphical user interface for LCD's (liquid crystal displays) using drag-n-drop HTML tools. In other words, Amulet is to LCD's like LabVIEW is to personal computers. Interfacing Amulet to an external device(s) for I/O is done through a serial connection.

Using the opmn:ormi protocol with multiple nodes
Hi
If I use the opmn:ormi protocol with multiple nodes, will it load balance between the nodes or will it simply try to connect to the first node and if it can't it will connect to the second node?.
Instead of specifying multiple nodes can I set the host to point to a load balancer?
Which solution is best?repost

This should be considered a temporary fix. It will saturate your Internet connection during periods of WSUS downloads in this configuration.
The correct and permanent fix should be to resolve the failure of your perimeter device to properly support the HTTP v1.1 protocol specification (which is now some 14 years old).
Either your device is misconfigured, or it needs a firmware update to support the full specification.

Anything updates?
In addition, this issue may also because your client didn't have CA certificate of your domain. Please make sure that your client has CA certificate.
Besides, the error "The client could not be authenticated because the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) Type cannot be processed by the server" may be due to that the default maximum transmission unit that NPS uses for EAP payloads is 1500
bytes. You can lower the maximum size that NPS uses for EAP payloads by adjusting the Framed-MTU attribute in a network policy to a value no greater than 1344:

Communicting with a device that uses the K-Net protocol
I have HPLC pump that was built in Germany. The K-Net protocol is used to communicate with the device serially (RS232). Does anyone have any experience/ insight about how to do this. Is there any VI's that will convert ascii commands to this K-Net protocol?? Thanks.
ssmithHey ssmith,
Thank you for contacting National Instruments. If you know the commands you will be using to interact with the pump, you can use VISA commands in LabVIEW to handle the communication.
If you do not have the VISA driver installed, you can find that here: NI-VISA 4.2
Also, you might try searching our Instrument Driver Network, as there could be a driver already developed for your pump that would make things easy for you.

Try using ClamXav 2.2.4. If you are not now using a hardware router I highly recommend you do so. Preferably use Ethernet for your local network. If you use wireless be sure it's protected by using WPA2 security.
Use your head and don't download something when you don't know what it is, what it does, or where it's from. Stay off of unknown websites and don't click links if you think you're not sure what will happen. -
What is the iDisk communications protocol?
The System Admin. at my campus is trying to help me gain access to my iDisk. He said he needs the iDisk communications protocol.
I can open my iDisk but I am unable to compete the uploads (error -36)?
Thank you,
toddYes, I hear ya...but I am overseas and.....
Is there any other specific details that I can communicate to him. He said something about needing to trace where the uploads are going to see why its not completing the uploads.
What I am curious to learn is what are the details of the configuration on the server/firewall here at my school that need to be set- how does it work? In some administration window on the schools software they type what?
thank you,

What are the pros and cons using ospf as the PE/CE protocol
pros and cons using ospf as the PE/CE Protocol
Hi,
Well in short,
pros:
well deployed protocol with good user experience
fast convergence
no redistribution required on ce side
cons;
type 1 & 2 routes (O) from one site are known as type 3 summary routes (OIA) in the other site
you need a sham link configured on the pe routers to get the routes as type1&2 at each remote site
If was deploying mpls vpn, i would use either ospf or bgp as pe/ce protocol.

SrijanHi Grace,
The free app MPEG Streamclip may be able to convert the file to a more suitable format. It can be downloaded from the developer's site here:
http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
Here's a User Tip by AppleMan1958 that provides some more information about MPEG Streamclip (it's about importing homemade DVDs, but similar principles apply):
