BGP Communities - Tagging our "own" range?

Hi Everyone,
We tag routes received from upstreams + peers(In BGP session), so we can easily control what we advertise to our customers that peer with us eg. Customer A only wants routes advertised to them from our "peering" partners(i.e. no Internet), Customer B only wants full table from our upstream carrier A, but nothing from carrier B...this works fine.
My question is, how do we tag our own address block in a similar fashion?  (As we are not "receiving" it from someone via BGP, we cant tag it that way)
i.e. If customer C wants our peering partner ranges, but also all of "our" range...it would be really simple to just have all our routes tag'd so we can create a community-list with the permitted community tags, create a route-map  that matches the community-list, then add it to the neighbour statement?  We can then even go further and break up our IP allocation into subsets, so customers can be restricted to certain "views/areas" of our network.
Ive had very little sleep, so Im probably missing something extremely trivial here, or there is a much "easier" way to do this :)
Cheers.

Hi,
how are you getting your BGP prefixes to the BGP table?
Redistributing from some IGP?
Or simply
network ... mask ...
command under your BGP process?
In both cases you could use ... route-map tag-comm
option and within the
route-map tag-comm
set community ....
to any value you need.
Best regards,
Milan

  • Configure our own Public IP pool on Cisco ASA firewall

    Hey everyone,
I need some assistance on the below requirement...Today we have only one internet circuit connected with our external firewall where we are using /26 public IP address for all external traffic. Now we managed to obtain our own subnet (/24) from ARIN and would like to configure on the firewall/internet router for all external services. Is my approach right in order to configure our own subnet on the firewall?
    1. Create a dedicated interface on the Cisco ASA firewall for new public pool...if there is no free interface; then virtual interface also should be fine.
    2. Make sure an appropriate route towards Internet router ( or create default route towards OUTSIDE interface)
    3. Speak to Internet service provider and explain that you are planning to use this specific public IP address on your n/w and ask them to publish in their BGP world with proper prefix#
4.Implement one external static NAT and make sure everything works as expected.
    Thanks in advance Network Experts!!!
    Regards
    VGS

You have the basics. but I do have a couple comments / questions
    1. What ASA are you running? If you do not have a free interface and plan to create subinterfaces, you will need to remove the configuration of one of the interfaces, then create subinterfaces and then re-apply the configuration you removed to one of the subinterfaces there...So, why not just overwrite the existing external interface?  Also, keep in mind that the ASA does not support two default routes.  (though I have heard some rumours that this might be added to the 9.3 release, but I have not had this confirmed)
    4. You don't really say what you are going to use this new setup for, but if you are using it for internet then adding just a static NAT will not be enough, you will also need a dynamic NAT.

  • Design 1313 with our own function

We are planning to design our own Terminal block for SCXI-1125 with attenuator and with AC coupling circuit
(both selectable). How can we get information to design this block?
OR can any one send how SCXI-1313 works when you want to select the attenuator on/off automatically
when a high range is selected?

    Hi Naushica
Unfortunately circuit sheets are not made available by National Instruments and therefore you will be unable to get information on how to design your custom terminal block. However there are custom kits available and you can view more information at this link:

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You need an additional unique Apple ID for the second device.  They're free, so create a new Apple ID for the second device, and use it when you want to FaceTime. You don't have to use it for iTunes, App Store purchases, backups, or syncing, just FaceTime.
More details on Apple ID are found here: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/

  • HT204053 I have one apple ID that my entire family has been using.  How do I create new apple ID's for each of us and move the appropriate content to each new ID from the original apple ID now that we all have our own devices?

I have been using one apple ID for 4 family members.  Up until now it hasn't been a problem but now that we all have our own devices how do I create new apple ID's for each of us and them move the approprioate things from the original apple ID account to the new ones for each of us?

  • How many computers can you install Lion after purchasing from App store. My wife and I have our own Apple ID will it accept 2 different ID

I have a MacBook Pro and an iMac . My wife has a MacBook and an iMac. How many computers are you allowed to install from one download. We both use Apple products and have our own Apple ID. Can I download Lion on her computers after I have both of mine installed? Or does she have to buy LION again using her Apple ID# ?

A single purchase of Lion will allow you to download it multiple times as long as you use your Apple ID.
If your wife wishes to install Lion, she must sign into the App Store with your Apple ID.

Welcome to the world of digital media. Your can't really transfer it. I don't know what the rules are about transferring to your spouse but I do know that in some cases when you die, your heirs cannot inherit your digital media. This is why there is still an advantage to buying the CD since the usage rights belong to whomever holds the physical media.
A possible workaround is to burn the songs to a music CD with yout account (tracks only without song titles) and then having your wife upload it as a regular music CD onto her account. It's been a while since i've done this so I'm not sure if it would work now.
Please note that I'm not advocating copyright and/or TOS violations. I'm only suggesting ways to copy music for your own personal use which has traditonally been permitted. I only did this because I wanted to convert iTunes songs to mp3 files so I could burn them onto a data CD for use in my car. It would make sense that since married couples are a joint entity, this would be personal use.
Also, I'm not a lawyer so don't take this as legal advice.

  • Can we create our own loops? Basic question.

    Hi,
Can we create our own loops in Logic Pro. I see in all the tutorials. They are either taking input from external instruments OR use existing apple loops.
I have tried FL studio demo to create our own loops. But there is no trial version for Logic Pro. Need your inputs before I purchase it.
    Thank you.
    Anji

    Yes you can!
It is as simple as selecting a Region (optional trimming recommended) and choose the Export command.
A Dialog window opens up that lets you enter the metadata
Apple had its separate "Apple Loop Utility" app (now only available in the developer package) that allowed you to create loops in a standalone app. The built-in loop capability in Logic uses part of that engine.
    Hope that helps

  • I have multiple devices (imacs, lap tops and ipads) all connected to a NAS server.  Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife, and each have our own apple ID, and Itunes accounts, but all share the same media on NAS drives?

I have multiple devices (iMacs, Lap tops, Ipads) all connected to a Nas Drive.  Can I create a user for myself and one for my wife and we each have our own apple ID's, Itunes etc, but share the same data on the hard drives?  So when she logs in, and sync's her ipads, they will sync with her stuff and when I do the same under my user account, on the same device, my ipads will sync with my stuff?

You can share the same Apple ID for purchasng form the iTunes and app stores without any problems, but you should all used separate iCloud accounts with separate Apple IDs.  (You are not required to use the same ID for iCloud and other services as you do for the iTunes store.)  This will prevent you from ending up with merged data.  You should also use separate Apple IDs for iMessage and FaceTime or you will end up getting each other's text messages and FaceTime calls.

My girlfriend and I both have iTunes account with our own music libraries and we want to combine our two libraries into one icloude accounts so can both then access our one shared libary at anytime in the cloud.  How do we do this?

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.

  • My husband and i share a macbook. we each have our own log-in and we each have our own itunes account. how can we share our libraries?

My husband and I share a macbook. We each have our own log-in and we each have our own itunes account. How can we use home sharing?

First, you need to understand that there's a difference between "syncing" and "backup".  Backup is the saving of content and settings, where syncing is the bidirectional transfer of content for an account to a web-based server (like iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)
If you see your calendar in your iCloud account, that implies that you have set up your iCloud account to host (sync) your calendar, and perhaps contacts, email, and notes.  An iCloud account can only sync one user's information at a time so it is intended to support a single user.  You can have more than one iCloud account, and you can even have more than one iCloud account on the same device (but one has to be primary, and the secondary iCloud has limited capabilities), but a single iCloud account only supports a single user's content.
Backup is the saving of your device's content and settings to use in case you need to recover these things, but you can't see the contents of your backup (just the size and device name).  You can backup more than one device to iCloud and you can backup to iCloud or you can backup to your computer, or both (one at a time though, you have to choose).
So, if your wife has her own email and calendar she can certainly do that in parallel to whatever account(s) you have for email and calendar.  But if you have only one iCloud account then only one of you can use it for email, calendar, etc.  But the backup of these accounts is really just a backup of the device's settings that link the device to these accounts. For example, if she uses Gmail then the backup of the iPad only backs up the fact that your iPad is set up to use her account, it does not backup the account itself (the content of her account is saved and preserved on Google's servers, not your device's backup).
    Does that make better sense?
