BI 11g with Configuration Manager

Hi,
I have a problem with setting up Configuration Manager with Oracle BI 11.1.1.5. The installation ends with succes but in Oracle Support i can't see any information about my BI platform configuration. Do you have any ideas what may be wrong?

Hi,
The problem is that when i run collect and upload my BI configuration data, I can't see them in Orcle Support Portal. I navigate to the 'System' tab and there is only a little information about host operating system (Widows), no Databases, Middleware and others. My Configuration Manager installation is in MIDDLEWARE_HOME\Oracle_BI1\ccr and I have configured it with my CI number and user name. Is Oracle Business Intelligence 11.1.1.5 supported ??
Thanks,

  • Streamlined Client Management and VDI with Configuration Manager 2012

    Hi,
There is an interesting blog about managing ConfigMgr 2012 Clients in a VDI environment.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/server-cloud/archive/2011/11/15/streamlined-client-management-and-vdi-with-configuration-manager-2012.aspx
But I didn't find any way or description in the blog on how to prepare the client in the base image used for VDI. Do we still have to make the client unique before shutting down the base image? Or will this be done automatically?
Are these new attributes (IsVirtual, IsMachineChangesPersistent ...) enabled by default?
    Thanks!
    Gr. Cédric.

No this is handled by ConfigMgr post SP1
Are these new attributes (IsVirtual, IsMachineChangesPersistent ...) enabled by default?
For XenDesktop  -no you will need to enable them in the client settings (not sure for other virtual
    solutions)
In the SCCM Console go to the Administration workspace; click Client Settings. Right click the Default Client Settings and choose Properties
Choose Hardware Inventory and click Set Classes.
Click the Add button and then click Connect.
Enter the computer name of a master image device that has the SCCM client installed.
Enter root\ccmvdi as the WMI namespace and click Connect.
    Select CCM_DesktopMachine. Click Ok.
    Cheers

  • MDT integrated with Configuration manager

    Hi Team,
Just wondering if it is suggested not to open or use MDT console workbench once its been integrated with configuration manager?
I been using it for a while and never faced any issues. I believe it should be fine to use the MDT and configuration manager both even after they been integrated. I generally use MDT workbench for building image and then use Configuration
manager MDT based TS to deploy it.  I don't see any technical risk. Any advice\best practice? Thanks.
    Regards,

There should be no problem opening up the MDT console on a machine with ConfigMgr installed, they are separate programs.

  • OSD with Configuration Manager Clients and PKI certifications

My team and I had just set up PKI Certs on our System Center 2012 R2 Server. We want the opportunity to utilize Out Of Band Management, but we also would like to make our OSD available to the following "Only Configuration Manager Clients." I have
done some testing and have found that without PKI enabled we have been able to use this feature. Once we enabled PKI we could only perform OSD through PXE or Boot Media.
Is there a way to have PKI enabled but also allow OSD's to be available through "Only Configuration Manager Clients"?

Thanks for the reply, I will relay the info concerning OOB. It is not necessarily a technical problem we are running into, more of an inconvenience. OSD works great as long as you make your TS deployment available through Boot media or PXE. Our end goal
is to create a zero touch environment. To do this I was thinking of making the TS available only configuration manager clients. With PKI I loose that capability and it forces me to use boot media or PXE.
Is there a way to have PKI enabled and still be able to deploy TS with only configuration manager clients, and no other deployment method?
    Thank you again.

  • System Center - Service Manager Connecting with Configuration Manager

    Hi,
I have System Center 2012 R2 - Service Manager and Configuration Manager (CM) installed, and i have created a connector from Service Manager (SM) to CM which imports data from CM. the question that i have is that is there two way communication
of the data between SM and CM.
Second question that i have is if i have created some change request in the SM, will it show up in the CM as what needs to be completed.
    Thanks

    wow, that's a big question.
Service Manager is a representational object database. there are objects in the database that represent objects in your environment. Most things in service manager are either Work Items (incident, change request, service request, etc) or config items (servers,
databases, software, users, domains, printers, locations, budget centers, purchase orders, workstations, hard drives, network cards, switches, business services, etc).  there are a few other classifications, but for now, lets just deal with those two.
there are also relationships between those objects, showing how those objects interconnect. For instance, say i report a problem. in the database, the user config item object that represents me is related to the incident work item object that represents
my issue by the relationship System.WorkItemAffectedUser, Affected User.
the advantage of this approach is twofold: first, the Affect user on an incident isn't just a text field, it's actually the full object that represents me. so you can click on me and see everything about me that the system knows, and follow other relationships
to see my manager, etc. Second, because everything is related to the full object, i don't need to duplicate any info on the incident, just reference the related object.
So to address your first question, it does everything your IT environment does, assuming you tell it about it.
to your second question, it has whatever information you tell it. Here is where Connectors come into play. the AD connectors can get you Users, Computers, Printers, etc.  the Config Manager connector will get you detailed systems info, hardware, and
software (if you have Asset Intelligence turned on). the Ops Manager will get you a lot more info about the systems, Service Maps, health state, etc. And then there's
Provance makes a lot of money selling the DMP to let Orgs import data from vendors. not to mention their Asset lifecycle stuff, or Cireson's for that matter.
    TL;DR - a lot.

  • Issues with Configuration Manager

    Hi,
I have recently installed Peoplesoft on my windows laptop. But when I created a different Windows User on the same laptop my configuration manager doesn't take any configuration values. Looks like its not even saving the profile even when I do an Import.
I have given the Windows Administrator access to the new user, created PS_HOME, ORACLE_HOME,ORACLE_SID (all path variables in the new user profile) .
I have also tried pscfg -clean and tried reinstalling the configuration manager but nothing works.
Did anyone face similar problem before? Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks,
    MK

I remember having a similar problem like this before. Even though i gave the user admin rights to the machine it still gave me problems. Not sure how admin rights work but it's not full rights as expected for whatever reason. I think I used the "Run As" option in the end to get round the problem. If you right mouse click on the menu item, one of the options should be "Run As". Run config manager as Administrator and see if that works.

  • Any Limits to using BranchCache with Configuration Manager 2012 SP1 or R2

Have a client looking to leverage the Branchcache feature in their office locations, over 1000 with numbers ranging from 2 - 40 in size.  There would be 2 - 4 central Primary distribution points servicing these clients in the 1000+ offices.
Do I need to look at requesting them to make changes to their design to have more distribution points to allow more branchcache clients to connect, are there any limitations?
I am aware the content is un managed (self managed no control) so the distributions may go over the links more then once.
Also aware that this would autoset a branchcache on each subnet even though it is a single location, but has multiple subnets.
    Thanks,

Have a read about our BranchCache addons after reading our FAQ, for others just wanting some info:
    1. Yes the servers needs to have the same key to ensure that hashes are compatible for all servers (i.e. the same)
    2. Reporting will show how efficient it is:

    3. Yes its per Subnet

  • Configure WSUS with Configuration Manager 2012 R2

We configured WSUS to be integrated with SCCM 2012 R2.
WSUS is on a different server than SCCM 2012 R2, and we have the site server role SUP installed on this server.
Both servers are Server 2012 R2.
We are doing Software updates, and I have some basic questions.
I can see from the logs that it downloaded all the updates, but where are they stored in SCCM, and how do I know they are there.
    Thanks

Well, that's a tough one to put in words correctly and completely.
Basically, it doesn't affect the built-in processes and they are still fully enabled. A few key points:
    - The ConfigMgr agent does set a local group policy pointing each client's WUA at the WSUS instance underlying the SUP.
    - The WSUS instance, once integrated into ConfigMgr is only responsible for the update catalog (and update EULAs) including downloading it from Microsoft and making it available to clients. Technically, that WSUS instance could still be used to approve
and deploy updates directly, but its not supported to do so and could cause side effects; thus the warning above in my post not to do this.
    - Updates are downloaded by ConfigMgr and clients retrieve them using standard ConfigMgr content handling.
    - The WUA, which is still alive and kicking, performs actions like scanning for applicable updates and installing updates at the direction of the ConfigMgr client. If not disabled (see blog posts below), the WUA will carry on its merry way and similar to
the WSUS situation above, could technically do things on its own but because nothing has been approved in the WSUS instance its pointing to, it doesn't do much except what the ConfigMgr client tells it to do -- there actually is reason to disable it though
(see blog posts listed blew for more info on that).

  • Verifying Server Connection in Configuration Manager

I am trying to deploy ES3 on Weblogic 10.3.6 and am having a problem with Configuration Manager. When I Verify Server Connection, the CM spins for a bit then comes back with a ALC-LCM-100-011 error, Cannot Connect to Application Server.
In the CM log there is this:
com.adobe.livecycle.cdv.CDVInternalException[ALC-LCM-100-011]: Cannot connect to application server.
Application server host or port may be invalid.
Caused by: java.io.IOException: Unable to resolve 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers.domainruntime'. Resolved 'weblogic.management.mbeanservers'
I know the info is correct, in fact when I intentionally use a wrong password or account the CM immediately returns that the info is wrong.
My WL architecture has a WL domain with distributed development and staging managed servers (no clusters). The Admin server is standalone, as are the two managed servers. I am attempting to install on one of the managed servers.
    Any hints here? Thanks!

See the link http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/PrepareInstallSingle/WS624e3cba99b79e1229e967b2 12eea97f932-7ffe.html . It has the below text :-
Two primary startup scenarios are available for WebLogic:
Using Node Manager and configuring through the Administration Server (recommended)
Directly starting the Managed Servers with configurations in the StartManagedWebLogic scripts
To use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager (the recommended option), you must use the Node Manager and configure through the Administration Server.
If you are directly starting the Managed Servers, you can still use the automatic configuration features of Configuration Manager. However, you must manually enter the Configuration Manager changes into the StartManagedWebLogic scripts. For the appropriate steps, see Installing and Deploying LiveCycle for WebLogic .
I think, if you want to use configuration manager for authomatically configuring the managed servers, you have to supply the admin server port while verifying the connection for weblogic server.

  • Configuration management on Solaris 10 (something like Win Registry)

    Hello,
We are currently in a process of porting a set of java applications from Windows to Solaris 10. Although the process is relatively straight forward we stumbled upon a problem with configuration management.
On Windows we rely on Registry to keep track of e.g. installed applications, java jdks etc. that is used by our own management software. Basically Registry provides an api to access a set of keys and values. Every installed application adds a key:value that will be picked up by the management software.
On the surface it appears to be no direct equivalent of windows Registry on Solaris. We can write our own e.g. file based database or use something like Electra.
Do I miss something obvious and there is something in Solaris that can be used to store global configuration information?
    Thanks,
    Alexey

For tracking installed software in Solaris, I can think of a few items that may help.
    1. /var/sadm/install/contents lists all the software packages and their contents. This is great for figuring out what file, binary, command came from what package:
    grep /usr/bin/tip /var/sadm/install/contents
    /usr/bin/tip f none 4511 uucp bin 56172 6659 1168034330 SUNWcsu
warning: grepping for just "java" here will give tons of output. The more specific the better.
    2. /var/sadm/pkg will list all the packages installed on the system, even 3rd party packages.
    3. /opt is the filesystem reserved for the so-called "unbundled" Sun products. For example, here is where you would find the Sun Ray server software directories ( /opt/SUNWut ......), the Serial Asynchronous Interface software (/opt/SUNWsaip . . . ), the old HP printer software (/opt/HPNPL . . ) etc.
Wouldn't this management software you mention have a version for Solaris 10 to do this for you?

  • Add Field - Configuration Manager

    Hi all,
I add a field to the checkin menu with Configuration Manager.
    My name field is Local.
Then I tried to override this field but instead of it the Content Server add a new field to the checkin menu with the same name:
    <@dynamichtml std_document_file_fields@>
    <$include std_namevalue_separator$>
    <$fieldName = "xLocal", fieldCaption = lc("Local"), valueStyle = "strongHighlight",
    isRequired = "1", requiredMsg = getRequiredMsg(fieldName, lc("wwSpecifyComments"))$>
    <$fieldDefault = "Insert a local"$>
    <$include std_display_field$>
    <$include super.std_document_file_fields$>
    <@end@>
How can I override this field instead of create a new one with the same name?

Ok, so you DO see the field you created, but you want to change where it appears in the check in page. Have you looked at playing with the order column in configuration manager (this may be what you meant in your former post). This would allow you to get your field up towards the top, but only as close as the primay file field.
Past that, you CAN do some things to get it EXACTLY where you want but your next step would be to start looking into profiles pretty heavy. There is a lot of documentation out there on profiles.
    In the screenshots here:
    http://www.corecontentonly.com/Blog/RemoveProfileHorizontalRulesBuild1
You can see that I have placed a field named Sub Type up under regular Type. This takes some messing around, but I did it with profiles. The exact steps are a little longer than I can put down just now. :(
Maybe this will be explained more in the coming post at CMSTechie:

  • How to deploy configuration manager client package to a query based collection

    Hi
I have created one OU based collection. Now i wants to deploy client package to this collection so that the client automatically get installed, whenever a new machine added to the OU and so on to the collection.
But the issue is with configuration manager client package deployment,as we can't deploy the default configuration package to the collection(Deploy option is grayed out). For this i created a new configuration manager client package and deployed this package
    to the query based collection.
Now when a new machine added to this collection, the client did not appear to deploy on this machine. Please help

If you want all the devices in the OU to get the client, you can use a Computer Startup Script to deploy it.  Everybody just uses Jason's since it does everything and is well documented.
    http://blog.configmgrftw.com/configmgr-client-startup-script/
    I hope that helps,

  • Remove Configuration Manager Integration

I have an MBAM 2.0 installation that I'm getting ready to upgrade to 2.5. It was installed with Configuration Manager integration. I would like to decouple this from Configuration Manager, and since the upgrade process is to basically uninstall the existing
version and install the new version, when I'm installing the new version, can I just opt not to install with the integration? And then remove the MBAM bits from the Configuration Manager server?

When removing MBAM installation from ConfigMgr, you will need do delete its IIS site, MBAM collection and Reports from viewer. Keep the database.
I understand, you want to install 2.5 as a stand-alone, right? I suggest you do this:
    1. Upgrade existing database with MBAM 2.0 SP1 installer program. Install only DP role and keep DP names intact.
    2. In another IIS & SQL server, import database and run 2.5 installation program with desired roles. (sure you can install same stuff on CM without integration, but why do that?).

  • I am trying to integrate EBS 12.1.3  with Enterprise Manager 11g

    HI Experts
I need to integrate EBS 12.1.3 with Enertprise Manager 11g grid control.
I have applied patch 8333939 to my OMS Instance successfully.
But I am not able to apply the same to my agent home.
    I am following this doc.

I need to deploy patch 9757683 to my agent home.
Also silent installation is not working.
    Please advise.

I see this error in your output:
    2014-11-26 10:55:23,583 ERROR [ThemeAutoDeployer]
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /tmp/liferay/com/liferay/portal/deploy/dependencies/liferay-theme.tld (Too many open files)
I'm not across what the EBS recommended setting for this is, or if there is one.  But try running:
    ulimit -n
... and if the number is low, edit /etc/security/limits.conf , add some entries for increased "soft nofile" and "hard nofile" and run sysctl -p.  See Linux & Java tips: Too many open files .
