BI 4.0 w/ Windows AD SSO, but Crystal Report (mdx) prompt login data

Hi guru,
We have been struggling for a while on the sso issue between BI 4.0, AD, BW, and CR.
Our architecture is not complex:
1. A BI 4.0 (BOE) on Tomcat (windows)
2. Backend SAP BW as main data source
3. AD, SAP Authentication are configured in CMC
4. User can login to Windows Desktop (login to Win Domain) and then link to BI Launchpad w/o giving password (Windows SSO), it works.
5. Crystal report can be published via BW to BI/2.0/.... folder on BI
But one thing still not working:
Our crystal report (using mdx for data accessing to BW) keep asking database login credential when a BI user login via Windows SSO. We want to get rid of this prompt and want to use a mapped R3 account for db access. each windows AD user has a corresponding mapped r3 account configured in CMC. We have tried, but not working.
The only way we got to avoid the prompt is to remove bwmdx from Crystal Report SSO Config in CMC and manually change the published CR report to use "original data login" as well as assiging the r3 credential. But we have to do it for each CR report.
Anyone have done this before ?
Is it possible to Login via Windows SSO and then view CR report w/o giving pwd ?
Or we have to do some special setting while making the report ?
Or users have to login by R3 account to get such SSO ?
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for prompt reply, My answer is:
No, SNC is not enabled.
Since BO can get data via the following 3 method from BW, so I'm not sure whether SNC is a must (just for CR SSO)
Universe(UNV) --> BW
Universe(UNX) --> BW
OLAP --> BW
OK, if SNC is a must to link AD SSO to BW SSO, what kind of SNC (client vs server) should I configure ?
Thanks

  • Data missing in InfoView report but Crystal Report runs fine on my PC

I have created a Crystal Report (XI) which combines data from 2 datasources. Firstly from a postgres db (connected to by ODBC) and second from an Informix db (connected to by ODBC).
The report runs fine on my PC but when I publish the report into Business Objects XI and run the report in InfoView, the report runs successfully but displays no details rows. The title, page headers, group headers all display but no data detail rows are shown. There is no conditional suppression on the details section of the report.
The ODBC drivers install ed on the Business Objects XI Enterprise server are the same as the ones on my PC.
If the report is adapted to only use just one of the datasources then it displays the data fine in Business Objects. So it is just when the datasources are compbined in one report that the data is not displayed.
    Any Ideas?
    Keith.

  • Close the IE window openeded after a Crystal Reports Report opened in Excel

    Hi all
I wonder if any of you have an answer for this doubt:
I have developed a series of Crystal Reports reports which I open by using the opendocument command and by specifying the parameter &sOutputFormat=E. It works properly: When the user executes the report, an Internet Explorer window appears , followed by a File Download dialog box where the user chooses wether to Open, Save or Cancel.
This dialog box has a checkbox for allowing the user to "Close this dialog box when download completes". If the user had already checked this option ( for a previous download, for example), then the excel file gets saved automatically but the Internet Explorer window opened at first, remains opened which may seem like the report is still being generated, even it was already saved.
I'm wondering if there's a way to close this Internet Explorer window automatically, once the report was saved.
    I greatly appreciate any contribution.
    Gabriel Sanchez V.

Hi Don. You are right, as I mentioned, I'm using the opendocument command which gets called via an URL.
Did you mean this is not the proper forum to post my question? This forum is "SAP Crystal Reports Design" isn't it?. Could you please clarify this point?
    Thanks in advance

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Crystal Report XI Runtime hosted on IIS 7 32 bit

    Hi all,
We have discovered that our software department installed Windows Server 2008 R2 in a production environment.
The production environment hosts asp .net applications on IIS 7 that enables 32 bit applicatons to run over it.
We still develope on Windows XP and Visual Studio 2005 using Crystal Report XI runtime.
Reports are compatible and run properly in production environment having enabled application pool of IIS 7 in 32 bit mode.
Is Crystal report XI runtime supported on windows server 2008 R2 hosted on IIS7 32 bit mode?
    Regards.
    Roberto.

    Hello,
Where to start.... first thing to do is search, lots of posts on these exact questions...
First, CR XI R2 does not support 4.0 framework, although MS does say it's fully backward compatible but it is not supported on Windows 2008 R2 unless you upgrade to CR XI R2A
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114412011E/crxir2sp6_incremental.exe
Or for a clean PC https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009114712011E/crxir2sp4_fullbuild.exe
Redist is on our download page.
Second is CR XI R2 is not supported in VS 2010. Only one supported is CR for VS 2010 which you can download from here:
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/crystalreports-dotnet
Bottom of the page has all of the download links for the 32 and 64 bit runtime for your WEB server.
App Pool must run in 32 mode, just in case you are using 64 bit OS.
Lastly, if you are using the SAP Integration Kit to connect to your BEX query then bad news, CR for VS 2010 doesn't have API's available to set the log on on info.
You may be able to use B1, it uses CR 2008 OEM Build and they may support this. Search that forum to see if they do:

  • Windows Server 2008 and Crystal Reports 8.5 printing issue

I am having a problem when using the crystal reports 8.5 report viewer ocx (ActiveX) under Windows Server 2008.
When logging onto the server through remote desktop, a report can be shown on screen in preview. When this report is printed, and the user requests more than one copy, the printer only ever prints one copy. Is this a configuration of the terminal server, or simply that the ocx control doesn't cater for it?
I am using the Windows Server 2008 "Terminal services Easy Print" drivers on the terminal server.
    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Hi Sastry
I can print multiple pages from notepad without any issues. It is only the print from the crystal OCX control that has the issue. It has it's own print dialog box.
    Thanks

  • Cannot See ODBC System DSN's on Windows Vista 64bit in Crystal Reports 2008

    Hi,
I have installed Crystal Reports 2008 on my Windows Vista 64 bit PC and have setup an ODBC connection to my mySQL box which I wish to report on.
Crystal Reports however does not see the ODBC DSN's which I have configured.
I have installed the product on a 32 bit Windows system with no problems.
Is there a solution to this?
    Thanks.

    I have found the solutions;
My ODBC drivers did in fact install. Microsoft, in all their wisdom, has 2 versions of odbcad32. A 32 bit and a 64 bit. They are both named odbcad32.exe.
They put the 32 bit odbcad32.exe in the syswow64 directory. They put the 64 bit odbcad32.exe in the system32 directory. 32 bit apps will pick up the 32 bit registry setting and 64 bit will pick up the 64 bit registry setting. system32 comes before syswow64 in the system path so the 64bit software runs before the 32 bit software.
So, when I manually ran odbcad32.exe in the syswow64 directory, I was able to configure my connections and everything worked fine.

  • Windows 7 64-bits Crystal report and Azalea (barcode)

    Hello,
We use Crystal Report XI and Azalea (barcode) to print barcode from our Windows application for many years.
Now we want to use Windows 7 64-bits. The barcode printing desn't work. Azalea answers they don't have any 64 bits library.
What is the Crystal Report solution for printing barcode with Windows 7 64-bits ?
    Best regards.

If Azalea doesn't have a 64 bit library your only option is to stay 32 bit.
Crystal Reports is a 32 bit application so 64 bit is not an issue. Everything must be in 32 bit version to work with CR. And the only versions of CR supported on Windows 7 is CR XI R2 with Service Pack 6 and CR 2008 with Service Pack 2. No other versions will be test nor supported on Windows 7, best effort only.
    Thank you

  • Crystal Reports Server XI Login SSO Advice

    Post Author: IanAitch
    CA Forum: Authentication
Hi, hoping someone on here can help with a login issue I currently have.
I am using CR Server XI for demonstration purposes (not in a real world implementation), and have successfully set up report access through OpenDocument URLs. The reports I am running do not request a database login when they are run, however when I attempt to run a report direct from a URL (rather than through Infoview) I am always prompted for a Enterprise login before the report is displayed.
From my researsch it appears that there is no way to include login details in the OpenDocument URL syntax, however I really do not want to see the manual Enterprise login everytime I access a report. This appears to have been possible in the past with earlier version where a default to the guest acocunt would apply, but I don;t seem to have that behaviour in XI.
I am running CRXIr2 on a win2003 server with standard default installation (mysql/tomcat). I am accessing the reports from another computer. Since it is a demo environment I do not have full live domain / AD setup, just individual (virtual) computers manually logging onto each other through mapped network drives as required.
So, how can I run reports (using an opendocument URL) without having to manually do an Enterprise login ? All clever and creative suggestions welcomed!
    Thanks
    Ian

Well if you can use IIS/.net then you could create a local group and map into the NT plug-in then enable IIS sso.
For tomcat you would need to join a domain and map in users from that domains, then you could enable vintela SSO
    http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/TechnicalPapers/boe_xi_r2_end_to_end_sso_for_java_using_vintela.pdf.asp
also from tomcat you could enable IIS-trusted auth in which you can either map groups in from AD/NT/LDAP or create enterprise aliases with the same usernames as AD.
    http://support.businessobjects.com/communityCS/TechnicalPapers/boe_xi_r2_configuring_trusted_authentication.pdf.asp
From enterprise only guest can SSO and I think that requires IIS as well

  • How to configure Crystal Reports 2008 and IIS7 and Windows Server 2008?

I have downloaded and installed the trial for Crystal Reports 2008 on our Windows 2008 server.  I can open Crystal Reports on the server just fine, but I get HTTP 500 errors when I attempt to view a report hosted on that server via the web.
As far as I can tell, the handler mappings in IIS7 are not configured properly, although I confirmed that the Crystal Reports 2008 install did add several handlers.  I read that I must configure the application pool to enable 32-bit applications.  I did that and am still getting the same error.  Documentation seems sparse and I've spent the better part of the day searching the forum here with no luck.  What am I missing?

    Don,
Thank you for the quick response!
We will ultimately be using ASPX/C#, but this simple case has a very basic report with no databind, just a single text label that reads "test succeeded" and I'm attempting to access it by direct URL (i.e. "http://192.168.99.21/crystalreportviewers12/test.rpt").  This works on our Windows 2000 server running Crystal Reports 8.
I've also tested with a simple test.aspx file with only the line "Response.Write(System.DateTime.Now.ToString())" and that works just fine.  This file is in the same folder as the test.rpt file.
If I leave the Application Pool set for the "Integrated" managed pipeline mode, I continue to get a rather generic "500 - Internal server error".  If I switch it to "Classic", I get the following error:
    Failed to Execute URL.

  • Crystal Reports Supported on Windows Server 2008?

Right now, we have it running on Server 2000, but server is being replaced. Would like to go with Windows Server 2008, but, making sure application compatibility first. I have searched the internets, have even called, and cannot get a straight answer.
What Windows OS does Crystal Reports support? And by support, I mean "work without glitches".

Well, there's both gated and ungated content, but Crystal Reports, Crystal Reports Server and Crystal Xcelsius should all have ungated equivalents.
It's just that not everyone on this side of the web browser has got the message.
    I do regret this.
The CR2008SP1 supported platforms (ungated) is found here:

    Hi,
Take a look at below blog, which clearly states that
Crystal Reports XI Release 2 (11.5) is not supported with any Service Pack for Crystal Reports on Windows Server 2008.

  • Drop down boxes ok in Crystal Reports but not ok in Crystal Reports Server

I have the following problem with "dynamic dropdowns"
Initially, I have a Crystal Report (.rpt).  It has two dynamic drop downs. They work
in both Crystal Reports Designer (preview)  and Crystal Reports Server (right-click-View).
The first drop down is the result of a rather complex sql query. The second drop down
is a child of the first.
I make a small change to the sql "WHERE" clause using the Crystal Reports Designer. It works fine in preview.
I save (Enterprise mode) to Crystal Server. I use Business View Manager to configure
the _DC_n object.  (I did notice that the .._DC_n gets incremented by one.)
The _DF object seems to know about the updated sql so I do not have change it.
However, when I go to back to Crystal Reports Server, and right-click-View, the
"dynamic dropdown" is not working properly.  I can not make sense
    of what has been retrieved.
Please tell me what is most likely to have gone wrong here?  The Business View Manager
seemed to knew about the sql change. But Crystal Reports Server has
not responded to the change in the same way as Crystal Reports Designer.
                       ...thank you, Stan

When you publish a report to Crystal Server, the dynamic prompts are no longer handled in the report itself.  Instead depending on how they're published, they either go away or they're published to the "repository" and managed through the "Business View Manager" (BVM), which is available as part of the Client Tools install.
To get the dynamic prompt into the repository, you have to check the "Enable Repository Refresh" checkbox at the bottom of the "Save As" screen after you log in to CRS.  However, doing it this way is NOT best practice, especially if you're using the query from the report to provide the data for the prompt.  If you do this for all of your reports, you get a LOT of bloat in the repository objects and it makes the job of migrating from one version of CRS to another MUCH more difficult!
What I've done in the past to get a simple "sample" prompt published is create a report that just contains the data that I want to have in the dynamic parameter using a single table - this is usually what I call a "lookup" table that has a "code" field and a "description" or "name" field.  I then create a dynamic parameter in that report that just pulls the data from the single table.  I'll publish the report to my favorites with the Repository Refresh enabled.
I then run the BVM and look for the following objects (default location is under "Cascading Dynamic Prompts":
<prompt name>_DC - This is the Data Connection for the prompt.  Edit this, enter the password, and set it to "Never Prompt" for the password.  NOTE:  This DC can be reused by multiple prompts.  If you continue to add prompts through publishing Crystal Reports with prompts, you will get MANY of  these that all point to the same database!
<prompt name>_DF - This is the Data Foundation for the prompts.  When you create a new one, you need to select an existing DC and then either one or more tables or write a command to provide the data for your prompt.  It works much like the Database Explorer in Crystal.  The one that was just saved has all of the information required for the prompt.
<prompt name>_BE - This is the Business Element.  When you create one, you have to select and existing DF and one or more fields.  You can also create a filter on the data.  This is used to generate the SQL that will be run to provide the data for the prompt.
<prompt name>_ BV - This is the Business View.  When you create one, you have to select the Business Element.  I'm not sure of the exact purpose of this, but you have to have one in order to set up the "List of Values".
<prompt name> - This is the List of Values (LOV).  This defines what fields are available for the prompt itself.
You can create folders to organize these objects so that its easier to maintain.
To use a LOV that you've defined in BVM to feed data to new dynamic prompts, do the following:
    1.  Connect to CRS from Crystal.
    2.  Create/Edit your prompt.
    3.  Set the prompt to be dynamic.
    4.  Under "Choose a Data Source", select "Existing" and select the LOV from the drop-down list.
    5.  Update the properties in the parameter.
When viewing or scheduling a report, the dynamic prompts will run through the Crystal Reports 2013 Report Application Server in CRS (it will be named differently if you're not on CRS 2013, but will have "Report Application Server" in the name.)

If anyone knows the difference between machine and user accounts are in AD, I would be obliged for his/her explanation. The UPN and SPN look the same in the directory. I'm at a loss. However, very glad to finally have this working.

  • OpenAM on Windows - Need help with the Windows Desktop SSO [Video Inside]

    Hi everybody,
first sorry if I make some mistakes as I dont speak english fluently, sorry :)
I am trying to configure the Windows Desktop SSO of OpenAM on a Windows box.
I followed this tutorial : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E19681-01/820-3746/gisxh/index.html but when I check if SSO works (with this URL : http://FQDN_domain.llocal:8080/opensso/UI/Login?module=MySSOModule) , it fails with an error "authentication failed".
    1. First I would like to know if there is a way to check if the keytab generated is correct please. Indeed, I have read somewhere that the account name has to be identical as the name of the SSOServer; in my case it is not.
I have correctly generated the keytab file (*or I think so but how can I be sure* ?).
    2. I would like to know how, in Windows, I have to configure the "keytab file name" (on the module instance page/ New Module).
As I dont have /etc/opt etc... Do I have to specify a path like that ? : "D:\apache-tomcat-6.0.33\webapps\opensso\config\myfile.HTTP.keytab"
    3. I have also logfiles with debug mode enabled. It is available here : http://dl.free.fr/b6yPOoYTU/logauthent.txt.
I will be very pleased if someone can help me about this problem that drives me nuts.
    Thanks a lot

  • When I login, all of my desktop items are gone, the "Finder" icon is bouncing and a message asking to restore windows is blinking but unresponsive. I can't exit out of it. What do I do? I've tried force quitting, and it doesn't get rid of it.

    Hey sunnyday7!
Here is an article that can help you address this issue:
OS X: How to quit an unresponsive application using Force Quit
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3411
    Additional Information
OS X automatically relaunches the Finder when it is quit. If the Finder is unresponsive, use Force Quit to relaunch it. Select Finder in the Force Quit Window or Dock, then click Relaunch.
Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!
