For any others who get a similar error...
We had the same symptom, the upgrade from 4.7 to 6.0 was running PREPARE and the background job aborts as shown above saying it cannot write this log to a directory. Looking at the dump (ST22) or double-click in the job log it shows the directory:
    Contents of system fields
SY field contents..................... SY field contents.....................
    SY-SUBRC 1 SY-INDEX 0
    SY-TABIX 1 SY-DBCNT 4
    SY-FDPOS 0 SY-LSIND 0
    SY-PAGNO 0 SY-LINNO 1
    SY-COLNO 1 SY-PFKEY
    SY-UCOMM
SY-TITLE Repository Switch: Tool Report for Performing Cleanups
    SY-MSGTY A SY-MSGID PU
    SY-MSGNO 814
    SY-MSGV1 D:usrsapput     mpRSUVSAVE.EQ0
SY-MSGV2 No such file or directory SY-MSGV3
    SY-MSGV4
It turned out - we were not running the upgrade from D: we had the put directory in F:. And during PREPARE we, as instructed, inserted the DIR_PUT=F:usrsapput into the default.pfl (instance profile).
The trick was that we needed to re-start the instance. While inserting DIR_PUT into the instance profile gets you past the initial PREPARE check, you need to restart the instance so the change takes effect.
We restarted and then resumed PREPARE and it passes the above error as it now writes to the F: directory.

    Hi Nicholas,
Is your system ECC (dual stack) or NW?
yes our ECC system is Dual stack
SAPXIAFC is for PI adapter framework core, is this component deployed in your system? Please check at the system info - all component in http://ip:5<sysno>00
no, i wasnt able to find SAPXIAFC in our http://xx.xxx.xxx.xx:50000/monitoring/ComponentInfo
How do you download the SPs? do you generate the xml via mopz? and is your system enrty in SMSY correctly set?
I downloaded the SPs via MOPZ, yes we generated the xml via mopz and transfered it to download directory of ehpi. yes our system entry in SMSY are all correct.
Do we need to repeat the whole EHPI process? and download another XML file? how can i eliminate the unnecessary components in assigning the technical usages in MOPZ? do you have any steps on how to get the exact components which corresponds to specific technical usages? so that i can match perfectly what are installed in my current ecc system (vs) the components that mopz should be downloading?
    Thank you.
    Best Regards,
    Tony

  • Yosemite upgrade preparation

I am preparing to upgrade to yosemite.  Should I upgrade iphoto before or afterwards?  I have Snow Leopard and iphoto 8.1.2 which I gather will not be useable on yosemite.

    léonie wrote:
Telling those users that: "You will no longer be able to run PowerpC applications on Yosemite" is not an appropriate answer.
Well, Yosemite cannot execute PowerPC code, you need to install Snow Leopard as well on the Mac, if you want to emulate a PowerPC using Rosetta.  You could as well say, Yosemite can run Windows applications.
Except that 99% of Mac users purchased their Mac to run Mac apps; not Windows apps.  And, I will postulate that 99% of Snow Leopard users run PowerPC apps, even though most of them have or had no idea what they were, as Rosetta was so miraculously transparent!  So the problem being faced by those who ask about upgrading from Snow Leopard to Yosemite is to make them aware of a problem that most of them do not know exists and then giving them solutions to that problem.
    léonie wrote:
Having to run device drivers in Parallels with snow Leopard is not as quick and responsive than running them directly in the native MacOsX.  I gave up on Snow Leopard, after trying for quite some time to run my Nikon Scan slide scanner in Parallels, and also an older audio interface was no joy. It was easier to dedicate an older MBP to run MacOS 10.6.8.
You are in the enviable position of owning "an older MBP" that can still run Snow Leopard Mac OS X 10.6.8.  Many users today are not in that position.
Take, for example, a college student who goes to class with his new MacBook Air/Pro running Yosemite; they cannot downgrade their OS X to Snow Leopard.  When handed a college textbook with a Pearson Educational CD-ROM that was written in 2005, it will just not work on their MacBook.  Should they just give up while watching other students using their CD-ROMs, or should they remain competitive?
Giving them the information that they can easily install Snow Leopard Server into Parallels for no more than $99 (and many times even less), will allow them to run these CD-ROMs and keep up with their other classmates.
While it is true, in your case, you can see greater efficiency and speed running PowerPC drivers and software in Snow Leopard on an older Mac that can still run Snow Leopard.  However, in today's world of i5 and i7 CPU's running many PowerPC apps in Snow Leopard Server in Parallels is actually faster on these modern Macs, then they were on their original PowerPC Macs of ten years ago.
You will recognize this efficiency when the day arrives that your MBP bites the dust and you are in the market for a new one from Apple but yet still need access to your Nikon slide scanner and/or audio interface...

  • Upgrade Preparation (Unicode System)

    Hello,
I will try to upgrade the following:
    ◇Sourece system   :ECC5.0 (Unicode system)
    ◇Target system       :ERP6.0 EHP5 (Unicode system)
I read Upgrade Guide(SAP ERP 6.0 Include SAP Enhancement Package 5 - Technical "Central Applicatio" ABAP Based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0 including Enhancement Package 2 ).
I have a question with regard to No4.14 (Unicode SAP System:Running reports RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE) in Preparation.
No4.14  say that if your SAP system is a Unicode system, report RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE must have run before you start the upgrade tool.
However, the following sentenses are written In prerequisites
・ you have not run report RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE  in your Unicode SAP system yet.
Source system has already bee Unicode system.
I cannot judge whether i should run report RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE.
    Please advice me.
    Kind regards
    Koba

    Hello
Thank you for your prompt reply to my question.
Please let me make sure i understand you correctly again.
    >The report would not have been run automatically by SAPInst for your ECC 5.0 (NW 04) based system.
    >Hence please run the post installation procedure as mentioned in Note 544623.
    I think so,too.
But, Upgrade Guide(4.14 in prerequisites) are written following sentenses.
・you have not run report RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE in your Unicode SAP system yet.
Do you know how to make sure whether report(RUTTTYPACT and UMG_POOL_TABLE) executed before(at installation time).

  • 11i to R12 upgrade preparation and guidance after multiple errors

This seems like a nice place to get some help. The MOS help I have received so far hasn't been so great.
I am trying to figure out how to proceed from where I am right now. Here's what I have:
    Project: 11.5.10.2 upgrade to R12
    1) Successfully installed MW version 2.18 and completed the 1st four steps under the "Configuration" category (I have not yet laid down the R12 code tree)
    - Tried step "1.6-Apply patch 7429271" and it failed:
--- The script being run is "get_from_url_1703_7429271.sh".
--- When running the script manually this error occurs:
    --- "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/support/mw/AruExecutor"
Needless to say it cannot download the patch.
    2) I thought that I might install the LivePatch release 2.19 patch (12728371)
    - I tried to install this patch using the "auto-install" method via "Configuration -> LivePatch" and recieved this error:
--- "The requested URL /pls/EOF/eof_manage_livepatch.main_page was not found on this server".
I think that I can install v2.19 manually if need be.
3a) Moving forward should I apply MW version 2.19 patch manually and try again with step 1.6? Is v 2.19 important at this stage?
3b) I can down download patch 7429271 manually but will further patch downloads fail? Should I insist on getting this issue fixed before continuing?
What is the best path for continuing?
    Thanks, Chaz

**** Maintenance Wizard configuration Information ****
    Protocol = https
Am I going to need to drop the MW schema and start all over or is there some way to change this dynamically?
Another thing that I noticed as part of the HTTPS selection is that it added these lines to these files:
    listener.ora:
    SSL_CLIENT_AUTHENTICATION = FALSE
    WALLET_LOCATION =
    (SOURCE =
    (METHOD = FILE)
    (METHOD_DATA =
    (DIRECTORY = /up2001/R12/10g/102/eof/config/ssl_wallet)
    tnsnames.ora
    (SECURITY=
    (SSL_SERVER_CERT_DN="CN=nwb-chi-tdb01.itciss.com, O=Maintenance Wizard, OU=Development"))
I don't think that they were there when I selected Protocol=HTTP.

  • Upgrade Preparation: How to map applications, DTS packages, SSIS packages and reports to databases

    Hi,
I am on the initial phase of upgrading SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2012. Right now, I'm taking as much inventory as I can from our current server, SQL Server 2005. If anyone could help me, how can I map the following:
    Map applications to databases
    Map DTS packages to databases
    Map SSIS packages to databases
    Map reports to databases
    Thank you!

    Some questions and suggestions:
How are we planning to upgrade whether in-place\parallel\others?
Will this be with HA[Clustered one] or with standalone?
Do you have time to do actual migration from now on and you will need to setup the environment for end to end testing for application validation so that all differences between application or system variables can be known before actual deployment?
Also, it will be good to check with Upgrade Advisor for below pointers preparedness too.
Map applications to databases: If you have already need to setup databases and logins for each and every applications then your mapping to database for applications will be lot  easier and you will have less challenge.

Click Upgrade to run upgrade installation, however, the error occurs.
It seems that it is impossible to perform upgrade installation to Windows 10 Technical Preview, although it is fine to click
Custom to perform clean installation which cannot keep the personal setting and applications.
However, what we want is upgrade installation, not clean installation.
Step 2: Perform the scenario 2: the upgrade installation works fine.
If extract the ISO installation to C:\New in the above step2, click the
setup.exe from the installation file C:\New\9841.0.140912-1613.FBL_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_VOL_X64FRE_EN-US\, the upgrade installation would work fine, which is as shown the following two figures:
    Step 3: Check the setupact.log
file which contains information about setup actions during the installation of the two scenarios.
Scenario 1: Check the setupact.log file of the scenario 1. The detailed information is shown as below:

Scenario 2: Check the setupact.log file of the scenario 2. The detailed information is shown as below:
2014-10-14 19:08:04, Info UI Determining whether we should run ConX or legacy setup
2014-10-14 19:08:05, Info UI Will launch ConX setup experience

According to the two logs, we can get the following points:
In scenario 1, it would invoke the SetupPrep.exe in the source folder directly to perform an installation preparation. However, it failed to recognize the path
C:\New folder\9841.0.140912-1613.FBL_RELEASE_CLIENTENTERPRISE_VOL_X64FRE_EN-US\Sources\SetupPrep.exe. Then it would launch legacy setup.
In the scenario 2, Windows setup would be redirected to the ConX setup to perform upgrade installation automatically.
So, what is the difference of the scenario 1 and 2 to bring the different results of upgrade installation?
    Workaround
Based on lots of testing, we find that if there is no space in the extracting location of the ISO installation
file, the upgrade installation would work fine.
What’s more, we can get the meaning of the two setup models in the setupact.log:
Legacy setup: it is same with setup from DVD boot.
ConX setup: it would check the compatibility and language UI for upgrade preparation, then perform migration and upgrade directly.

    Hello,
I would guess that existence of a space in the folder name is what the issue is.  Try removing the space from the folder name and see if works. New_Folder for example

    hi,
There are several parameters you have to check before upgrading. Commonly it is independent of size of database.I think it will take as minimum 1 hour. Check the links to speed up upgrading and to consider pre-upgrade preparation:

  • Upgrade to BI 7.0 with non-ALPHA converted values in 0MATERIAL

We are upgrading from BW 3.1C to NW2004s / BI 7.0.
While performing our pre-upgrade checks using RSRV, we found 93,000 of 1.7 million material records which have not been ALPHA converted. This may be a legacy from an earlier 2.0 to 3.1C upgrade where the ALPHA conversion was skipped because the ALPHA conversion would a take "too long"
Our client currently has 500InfoProviders and 500 Aggregates in a 20 terabyte database.
All of SAP's documention for BW upgrades insists upon ALPHA conversion prior to upgrade.
    1. Has anyone experience upgrading without ALPHA conversion? I would like to have a chat with you.
    2.  Does anyone  have an easy techinque for detminining if these values are used in InfoProviders? These values are invisible through "Maintain Master Data" This would helps us determine if ignoring or deleting the values is a viable option.
    Thank you for your help,
    John Hawk

    Hi,
As per the standared upgarde guide ALPHA convertion check is not necessary for Upgrade from BW 3.1 to BI7.0.
Note 447341 specifies as shown bellow:
Upgrade from BW >= 3.0B to BW >= 3.1 Content.
In this case, the consistency of the data should be already be ensured by a previous upgrade. As a precaution, a check is carried out in the upgrade PREPARE.
Do not, therefore, implement the solution described under Section 2.1 in this case. In particular, it is not necessary to export a transport created from the BOM RSMD_ALPHA and would in any case result in errors (unknown syntax "R3TR" "TABL" "RSMDCONTCONVEXIT" or "Object R3TR TABL RSMDCONTCONVEXIT requires a catalog entry") because some of the objects no longer exist.
Check weather the error messages that you get is of type(R3TR" "TABL" "RSMDCONTCONVEXIT" or "Object R3TR TABL RSMDCONTCONVEXIT ). then you can ignore thouse error messages.
    Refer to 447341.
    Regards,
    Srinivas.
