BI Administration Tool crashes in nqsdbgatewayodbc35.dll

Hi,
In the Oracle BI Administration Tool (v 11.1.1.5) we import metadata of an ODBC 3.5 datasource into the "Physical" layer. This works fine, but when I click to "View data..." on an ODBC table, the whole Administration Tool crashes with the following output: "*Unhandled exception at 0x6e9281ff in admintool.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00030028.*"
Note that the ODBC driver used is our custom implementation and it conforms to ODBC standard 3.5
When debugging the application at the moment where it crashes, the call stack is:
nqsdbgatewayodbc35.dll!6e9281ff()
[Frames below may be incorrect and/or missing, no symbols loaded for nqsdbgatewayodbc35.dll]
......the driver's debug symbols are loaded and it is obvious that the driver code is not directly involved in the crash.
Analyzing our driver's logfile, I can see that the tool crashes after calling SQLExecute() - which returns successfully - but before calling SQLFetch().
Even more interesting, if I remove some fields from the table in "Physical" layer and only leave numeric type fields, suddenly "View Data..." returns the table's content.
Anyone knows of a bug in nqsdbgatewayodbc35.dll which might cause this issue?
Does anyone have an idea of how to investigate this? A debug symbol file (.PDB) for the nqsdbgatewayodbc35 DLL doesn't seem to be available.
Where do I find the logfile for the BI Admin Tool? Can detailed logging be turned on?
Help or hints appreciated,
Thanks!
Juraj

Hi Adil,
For one of our products - a position keeping system - we have an in-house ODBC driver through which business data can be extracted, e.g. for reporting purposes.

  • Administration Tool (11g) -  can I get it from OBIEE web interface (Analytics)

    Hello,
My users do not have the right of installing anything by themselves on their workstation. But for testing reasons I have to provide the Administration Tool. Can I download it somewhere from web interface (for example as we can download BI Desktop Tools)?
    Version of OBIEE is 11.1.1.7.
    Thanks for your answer.
    Regards,
    Dominic CHITAC

YOURSERVER/saw.dll?bieehome <-- There's a download link but you will still need to install it. That will just get you the binaries.
Alternatively they lie on your server under INSTALLFOLDER/MiddlewareHome/Oracle_BI1/clients

  • Oracle BI Administration Tool - OCI problems

    Hi
I've experienced the following problems with the Admin tool, when importing metadata and data through an OCI connection pool :
Oracle BI Admin tool crashes when I try to "View Data" on a table containing a SPACE in one of the columns of a row. Strange but true. e.g. I created a dummy table to prove this. Table ABC, Row 1 Col1 = ' ', Col2 = 'ABC', Row 2 Col1 = 'X', Col2 = 'X'.
The admin tool give me the following message The instruction at ….. referenced memory at ……… The memory could not be “read”
When I update the SPACE to NULL or something else, it does not crash.
Also when introducing the OCI connection pool, the Presentation Server just hangs, when I try to login to it.
These problems seem to be quite strange. I'm running ORACLE BI EE 1.0.1.3.3 on Windows 2003 server.
Has anyone experienced these problems ? Please help.
    Thanks
    Cheers
    Greg

    Hi Venkat
The SPACE error appears in a pop up window and reads :
Title (Online) Oracle BI Administration Tool - AnalyticsWeb: AdminTool.exe - Application Error.
Message : The instruction at "0x78144a51" referenceed memory at "0x00000005". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program
As for the presentation services, I think the initial install was the vanilla install for Windows. Presentation services was probably re-installed using the same default settings.
As per my previous reply to Adrian, the problems do not appear on Linux, using the same Windows repository file with the same OCI connectivity set up.
    Thanks
    Cheers

  • Siebel 8 tools crashes after Edit Layout id clicked

    Hi All,
I am facing a weird problem. I am working on a Virtual Machine (Windows Xp Sp3 32 bit) which I connect to via Windows 7(32 bit) IE8. I have Siebel 8.1.1.0 Tools and Client. They were working fine till yesterday. But since yesterday whenever i try to 'Edit' either web layout of applets or a workflow process Siebel Tools crashes. Client is working fine.
Any idea why this happens or any solution to this.
Note: I have Siebel 7.8 (Tools only) installed in the same drive but different folder.
    Thanks and regards

  • Problems while trying to open OBI Administration Tool

    Hi everybody,
I’m getting an error while trying to open the OBI Administration Tool. I performed properly the installation with the client installer, and then created the ODBC connection to the OBI Server, which is hosted in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (64  bits).
The error I’m getting is the next one:
    Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
    Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus Client T...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
This is an error that seems to have appeared previously on the forum, but unfortunately I didn’t find any fixing solution. I found posts speaking about cleaning the boot and reinstalling the Visual C++ running components, but they don’t work (at least in my case).
    Any idea?
    Thanks in advance,
    Hibai.

    Hi,
I have one more question. I need to migrate the database from US7ASCII to UTF8.
For this I ran csscan for user "TEST" as well as against full database.
Below log is the csscan output against full database. but my application is depended on TEST schema only. Shall I need to migrate SYS objects data as shown below or it's not required?. If required how to migrate these objects data?
    Looking forward you help.
    USER.TABLE Convertible Exceptional
    SYS.METASTYLESHEET 58 TEST.Table_1 9 0
    TEST.Table_2 11 0
    TEST.Table_3 17 0
    TEST.Table_4 11 0

    Thanks,

  • The connection has failed while creating a New Repository using Oracle BI 11g Administration Tool

    hi
In the BI Administration Tool when i try to create a “New Repository…” faced The connection has failed I try all of these solutions but dident work..
    1-configured my “System DSN"
2-enter “TNS_ADMIN” for the “Variable Name” field and for the “Variable Value” enter the location of my OBIEE
3-copy the sqlnet and tnsnames.ora files into E:\obiee11gtmt\Oracle_BI1\network\admin and E:\obiee11gtmt\oracle_common\network\admin
    4- put this in DSN with connection type OCI 10g/11g (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = IP Addr)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = ORCL) ))
    please help me
    regard

1.Place tnsnames.ora file in the following paths,
    E:\obiee11gtmt\oracle_common\network\
    E:\obiee11gtmt\Oracle_BI1\network\admin
    2.Navigate to
    E:\obiee11gtmt\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIApplication\coreapplication\setup\
Open user.sh file in a notepad
Set Tns_names paths as shown below with your tnsnames.ora file’s location,
    set TNS_ADMIN=C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\ADMIN
The above path is of your installed Database tnsnames.ora file
I guess you didnt do this step. This will solve your issue.
    Restart all the services

  • Creating views in Physical Layer of OBIEE Administration Tool

    Hello,
I am doing a proof of concept of creating an OBIEE repository using the Administration Tool to make a model for an in house sandbox OLTP system. Because this POC isn't using a warehouse that is built nicely with everything I need, I am having to import the OLTP tables into the Physical Layer and then create a few extra views (by creating a new physical table object and selecting "Table Type: Select") to add some new columns I will need.
My problem is that once I have created two views 'ViewA' and 'ViewB', I want to then create a third view 'ViewC' that is the union of 'ViewA' and 'ViewB'. But when I create ViewC from these two views and try to then update row count or view data in newly created ViewC, I get an error message of the effect:
Message 208: Invalid object name 'DBO.ViewA'
Message 208: Invalid object name 'DBO.ViewB'
When I try and create ViewC with DBO.OriginalTableA and DBO.OriginalTableB, however, it works just fine. And I am also able to successfully update row count and view data in ViewA and ViewB independently. So it seems to me like a view initialization problem when trying to have ViewC be created from A and B.
Am I trying to do something that is not allowed in the Physical Layer of the BI Admin Tool? I would think that I should be able to work with views just like actual physical tables from my OLTP. Maybe not.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi Hammett81 ,
I think, I have given configured connection pool correct. (following Oracle guidelines: 'In the Connection Pool dialog box, on the General tab, verify that the call interface is set to Default (OCI 10g) and change the data source name to the appropriate tnsnames.ora entry ( ORCL in this example). Please note that this is the TNS service name, not the ODBC DSN. ' )
I tried to give ODBC DSN (SH) as call interface, which resulted in an Error dialogue, implying, previous configuration was correct.
    So, I reverted back.
    Regards,
    Deeba

Any help on this issue would be appreciated, if you need any further information please let me know.
    Thanks

    SeniorInternet,
I’ve seen this issue in the past and it occurred because the file was corrupted.
It’s possible that something went wrong when downloading it originally on your newly upgraded machine.
    Try downloading
KB2693643 again from another machine and install it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Unable to install Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 8 Release Preview on RTM 8 Enterprise

Unable to install Remote Server Administration Tools for Windows 8 Release Preview on RTM 8 Enterprise
    Standalone installer available here
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28972
    fails with error code 0x80004005
Is this because my installation has issues, or would the admin pack files be updated for RTM?
Thank you in advance for any insight

    Found the solution here:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w8itprogeneral/thread/6d8745e0-c4c1-463a-b4bb-09f6c9c22527
    Workaround:
Download the RSAT package intended for Windows 8 Release Preview: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=28972
Extract the .msu file with a tool such as 7-Zip.
Open an Admin command prompt and change directory to where you extracted the .msu.
Run the following command to install (if x86 you probably have a different .xml filename): pkgmgr /n:Windows6.2-KB2693643-x64.xml
Wait a while. You can look in task manager for pkgmgr. When it disappears, the installation is done.
Use the tools as per usual.

    I have recently download
Remote Server Administration Tools (64 bit) for Windows 8,but unfortunately I couldn't Installed it & an error message appeared on the screen after I tried to

Remote Server Administration Tools option is not available. After that I have updated the OS completely, from Windows update option on the Control panel, but the problem is still exist.  So therefore I need help regarding this matter in order to solve

  • Oracle BI Administration tool has stopped working

Just now finished the 11g installation. But im not able to open BI Administrator.Im getting this error. Please help.
"Oracle BI Administration tool has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program"

I followed the below steps(taken from this forum) for installing OBIEE11g 64 bit version in a 64 bit machine.Installation completed successfully. But not able to open BI Administration tool.Any suggestions???
There is not a particular 64bit installation. I think it works like this: if you are using a 64bit JDK the apps server is also running 64 bit.
You can find the generic jar here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-main-097127.html and take the generic one (http://download.oracle.com/otn/nt/middleware/11g/wls1033_generic.jar)
You install this by a command like this (you have to look up the documentation): java -XXm.... .... wls1033_generic.jar
    Then a installer pops up.
    So these were my steps:
    - installed RCU
    - installed 64 bits JDK (jdk-6u21-windows-x64.exe)
    - installed Weblogic (wls1033_generic.jar)
    - installed OBI as "software only"
    - configured OBIi (config.bat you can find in <obi11g home>\Oracle_BI1\bin)
All together it does not take much longer then the 32bit install. Only some extra steps to do.

  • Problem with opening repository in Administration Tool

    Hello!
I have a problem when I want to open saved repository in Administration Tool.
I've saved uncompleted repository (without Presentation Layer) in offline mode (BI Server was stopped all the time) and then I've closed A. Tool.
BI Server was stopped all the time.
And now when I want to open my saved repository in offline mode, A. Tool asked me password of user Administrator. I typed password but logon failed. I am sure that password is correct because when I try to open another repositoy with the same user and password, repository will open.
What can I do to open my repository?
    Thnx!

What can I do to open my repository?Type the correct Administrator password. Otherwise try with another RPD user which is also memger of the Administrators group.

  • Cannot install itunes, it says it cannot access administrative tools file

I had itunes installed on an external hard drive, but I want to switch it over to my computer. When I try to run the install file I get the following error: Could not access network location Administrative Tools\.

I'm having the same problem. I've tried everything I can think of. I tried manually uninstalling QuickTime, but it wouldn't let me, something about it couldn't find a .mis file. So, I deleted all the QuickTime files/folders I could find, went through the registry deleting all QuickTime references (no small task, there's multiples of many) and tried again. It still didn't work. I then uninstalled my old version of iTunes and took another trip through the registry. Still nothing says it can't uninstall the old QuickTime, even though, as far as I can tell, there's no longer any QuickTime to uninstall! SOMEBODY HELP!!
