    hello,
    i have downloaded Oracle 10G release 2 for windows.
    Is OracleBI Beans 10g (10.1.2) is compatible ?
    thanks

    No, BI Beans is not currently certified for use with 10gR2. We are currently working with the OLAP team to certify against this version. For more information please refer to Oracle Metalink.

    Important: You must install Oracle JDeveloper 10g 10.1.2.2 build 1929 prior to installing BI Beans 10.1.2.2. JDeveloper 10.1.2.2 is available in JDeveloper Archives. Note that JDeveloper 10.1.3 is currently not supported.

  • BI Beans Samples Problem

    Hi,
    I've installed BI Beans samples and they are working fine except servlet samples.
    Only bootstrap servlet example is working fine but other servlet samples generates errors. Custom query tool shows crosstab, but when i try to drill down, or try to change time and press go, then a got javascript error Object expected.
    In page source I can find link to javascript src file MarlinCoreA4.js, but a can't find this file on my HDD.
    Have any ideas.
    Thx.

    I would recommend upgrading if possible to JDev/BI Beans 10g as this new release has a lot of cool new features that make development a lot faster and easier. Included in JDev/BI Beans 10g Help System (this might also be present in the 904 documentation - sorry I cannot remember) are topics that should help you develop your servlet application.
    The Help system provides working code for the following areas:
    Building Servlet Applications
    Rendering HTML pages
    Handling thin beans events
    Using thin bean dialogs
    Preparing a dialog or wizard page in a Servlet
    Adding a graph or crosstab wizard to a Servlet
    Adding a PresentationBuilder to a Servlet
    Adding a Graph or Crosstab Wizard to a Servlet
    Adding a Presentation Wizard Page to a Servlet
    Managing state information
    Managing thin presentations

  • Document about how to use each BI Bean

    Anyone know whether there is any document on how to use each BI Beans besides Bean's javadoc?

    I would recommend downloading the latest BI10g samples from the BI Beans website. Click here for downloads, demos and documentation for BI Beans 10.1.2.0.0.
    For the graph there is a lot of really good information located on the Reports OTN page. This explains how to use many of the features of the BI Beans graph and contains some really good examples of how to format a graph.
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/faq/Graph_FAQ_with_style.html
    I would recommend reviewing the OU course on the BI Beans Query Model as this explains the basics of how to construct and manage queries:
    Oracle9i JDeveloper: Explore the BI Beans Query Model (Development Tools)
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/show_desc.redirect?dc=D18655&p_org_id=1001&lang=US&source_call=
    The BI Beans query model supports powerful and flexible query techniques for analytic applications. This course explores this query model, both from an API perspective and a user interface perspective, with the goal of illustrating advanced query techniques for custom business intelligence applications.
    BI Beans 10g provides a lot of new features. We have a viewlet that explains in detail how to use one of the key new features: JSP list tags. This viewlet demonstrates a number of list tags, such as:
    * DimensionMember
    * CascadingDimensionMember
    * AWProgram
    * Navigation
    This viewlet can be viewed directly from the link on OTN:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bib/1012/viewlets/MS%20Developing%20Executive%20Insight.html
    There are OBEs posted on OTN:
    Develop Business Intelligence Objects using OracleBI Beans
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bibeans/bibeans_1012/developolapobjects/lessonlist.html
    Create business intelligence objects using BI Beans. These analytic objects, such as crosstabs, graphs, and calculations, can be used in either HTML-client or Java-client applications.
    Develop Business Intelligence Applications using OracleBI Beans
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe_bi/bibeans/bibeans_1012/buildbibeansapps/lessonlist.html
    Create BI Beans HTML-client (JSP) applications and Java-client applications.
    For more information on using BI Beans graphs with non-OLAP data sources please refer to the following JDeveloper tutorial:

  • BIBeans 10g new features

    Hello,
    I've signed to BIBeans 10g beta (without submitting the application) because I'd want to know only the new features that will be introduced in the next release,as we are going to develop a portlet and mail systems using BIBeans...
    will this features be present in this new release?
    thanxs a lot
    Antonio

    Will BI Beans 10g provide specific support for email? The answer is no. However, as the BI Beans environment is open and extensible you could add in email support very quickly and easily.
    The portlet support will remain exactly as it is today. There is a portal sample provided on the BI Beans section of OTN that explains how to integrate BI Beans presentations within Portal.
    The aim of BI Beans 10g is to provide a rich declarative development environment for building Java Client, HTML and UIX applications. BI Beans will be leveraging all the new development tools provided by JDeveloper 10g. A large number of new JSP tag libraries have been added to allow web developers to quickly and easily build interactive data driven applications.
    Hope this helps

  • Using a local catalog outside of JDeveloper?

    Is it possible to establish a local catalog connection from outside of JDeveloper; that is as part of a deployed application?
    I have tried including the catalog XML files in my JAR file and specifying the relative path to the files in the BI configuration file (i.e., PersistenceType="FILE" RootFolder="bidefs/BIDesigner/"). However, it seems that whatever combination of file location and configuration setting that I try I receive a catalog root cannot be found error.
    Does anyone know if this is possible, and if so can you point me to an example?
    (Note: I realize that in an actual production application that it is much better to use the database catalog, however, currently I’m simply working on a proof of concept and may not be able to create the catalog schema on my target database instance.)
    Best Regards,
    Matt

  • How do i show descriptions instead of dimension values at presentations ?

    We are facing a problem that could be a BIBeans problem or could be an OLAP problem, please inform if to change forum:
    We are using jdev 903/BIB903 accessing an AW created at Oracle OLAP 9205 with AWM.
    All our dimensions were created at OWB 10g and deployed to RDBMS following the general rules below:
    DIM X
    ID_X - sequence primary key
    CD_X - original key from source systems
    DS_X, NM_X, and so on - description fields and hierarchy fields related to this record.
    i.e.:
    SQL> desc dim_rota
    Name Null? Type
    ID_ROTA NOT NULL NUMBER(6)
    CD_EMPRESA NOT NULL NUMBER(2)
    CD_FILIAL NOT NULL NUMBER(2)
    CD_ROTA NOT NULL VARCHAR2(3)
    NM_FILIAL NOT NULL VARCHAR2(40)
    NM_ROTA NOT NULL VARCHAR2(30)
    CD_SETOR NOT NULL VARCHAR2(1)
    ID_SETOR NOT NULL NUMBER(6)
    NM_SETOR NOT NULL VARCHAR2(30)
    this dimension has 1 hierarchy with 2 levels called SETOR and ROTA.
    when we generated the AW using AWM, each field (except ID) is created as a variable dimensioned by DIM_ROTA, as shown below:
    ->listby dim_rota
    35 objects dimensioned by or related to DIM_ROTA in analytic workspace AW1
    DIM_ROTA_CD_EMPRESA
    DIM_ROTA_CD_FILIAL
    DIM_ROTA_CD_ROTA
    DIM_ROTA_CD_SETOR
    DIM_ROTA_CREATEDBY
    DIM_ROTA_FAMILYREL
    DIM_ROTA_GID
    DIM_ROTA_INHIER
    DIM_ROTA_LEVELCOLMAP
    DIM_ROTA_LEVELREL
    DIM_ROTA_NM_FILIAL
    DIM_ROTA_NM_ROTA
    DIM_ROTA_NM_SETOR
    DIM_ROTA_ORDER
    DIM_ROTA_PARENTREL
    ID field was concatenated with level name to generate the dimension value - so, for the following relational record:
    SQL> select id_rota, cd_rota, nm_rota from dim_rota where ID_ROTA = 233;
    ID_ROTA CD_ROTA NM_ROTA
    233 A99 A99-Consig. Sup. Setor A
    we have at multidimensional side:
    ->LIMIT DIM_ROTA TO 'ROTA.233'
    ->rpr dim_rota
    DIM_ROTA
    ROTA.233
    ->dsc dim_rota_nm_rota
    DEFINE DIM_ROTA_NM_ROTA VARIABLE TEXT <DIM_ROTA DIM_ROTA_HIERLIST ALL_LANGUAGES>
    LD IMPLEMENTATION NM_ROTA Attribute for DIM_ROTA Dimension
    ->rpr down dim_rota w 30 dim_rota_nm_rota
    ALL_LANGUAGES: AMERICAN_AMERICA
    -------DIM_ROTA_NM_ROTA-------
    ------DIM_ROTA_HIERLIST-------
    DIM_ROTA ROTA
    ROTA.233 A99-Consig. Sup. Setor A
    here comes our question: how do we show at BIBeans designer/presentations the related descriptive fields and NOT the dimension values themselves?
    thanks in advance,
    Flavio

    There a re two additional attributes that need to be mapped within OWB for each dimension:
    Long Description - this is used by the presentation beans and query and calc builder to replace the dimension values with more meaningful/end-user friendly descriptions
    Short Descriptions - this can be used where the long description is too long for display purposes. In BI Beans 10g Release 2 (due out soon) you will be able to select between long/short descriptions when using many of the new tags.
    These new attributes will be automatically picked up by the OLAP Bridge in OWB and automatically added to the OLAP catalog.
    Hope this helps

  • Error in crosstab links in JSP

    Hi,
    I am able to run a crosstab inside a JSP from JDeveloper10g(9.0.5.16.27)'s oc4j, but when I click on the links in the crosstab either to drill into a column/row or any of the button(uix) links, there is a javascript error which is something like :
    Line: 33
    Char: 1
    Error Object expected
    Code:0
    URL:<url for the page>
    Has anyone seen this error before ? How do I fix this?
    thanks
    Shankar

    If you do not have access to the beta forum I suspect you are not using the 10g Beta product. If this is the case, the current production version of BI Beans is not certified with JDeveloper 905. The current version of BI Beans is certified with JDev 904. You will have to wait for BI Beans 10g to release later this year to be able to use JDeveloper 905/10g.

    please help! i need some directions....

    As far as I know OWB and ODI fall under the same licence now (at least in UK), so if you're licenced to use OWB + ETL options you're probably licenced to use ODI. Check with your friendly Oracle Account Manager :¬)
    Why are you thinking about moving to ODI, what limitations have you come across with OWB? A better upgrade path may be to OWB 11gR2 now that it supports (ODI) knowledge modules and has better integration with OBIEE (if use use that).
    If you search this forum and the ODI forum you'll find a number of posts on the subject, I posted a similar question a few months back after which we decided to stick with OWB. Oracle have stated they will provide a migration path to a single product in the future.
