BI: Business Explorer language setting

Hi all,
We have installed new front end for BI 7.0. But when i running from business explorer, query "open" icon text is showing in different language (new york).
Also, when i click on open, it is not showing any query dialog box.
Please give me inputs as we are on upgradation project from 3.5 to 7.0.

Hello Amit,
Do you mean the folder icon to open queries?
This seems to be a know bug and there are two notes to resolve it, kindly take a look and follow it's recommendations.

  • 0CURRENCY Infoobject Business Explorer & Master data setting

    Hi Gurus,
Im having a hard time to find properties/setting Business Explorer & Master data tab for 0CURRENCY infoobject.
Is there any chance that I can edit the BEx setting of this infoobject e.g Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn field?
    And
Is there any method that I can flag the text are time-dep. box for master data?
    Any assistant really appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
If I got your question properly, 0CURRENCY is a Currency Key field it does not have any Text / Master Data for it.
Try to see the 0currecy at RSA1-- You will find the settings for BEx -- at General Tab / Hierarchies Tab only.
    Hope it helps

  • Infoobject - Setting for Business Explore and its performace

    Hello BW-fans,
I am not sure, whether I am here at the right topic or this is a question for Bex-Topic. However it's something to do with data modelling so I firstly put the question here.
I have an example: the InfoObject 0CUST_HIE01 is from SAP-Standard referenced on 0CUSTOMER - it's ok. By selection at query execution, depending on the general settings for Business Explore, especial at "Query Execution Filter Val. Selectn", the content of 0CUST_HIE01 will be showed as the content of master data 0CUSTOMER or the content of 0CUST_HIE01 itself. In our data model it's two different values, so the general settings should be correctly "Only value in InfoProvider" or "only posted value for Navigation".
The problem is the perfomance when I select the filter value at query executation. With those two settings like above it'll take very long time, the voluminous data is updated in InfoProvider the slower the performance will be. In my example is showing the content of master data 0CUSTOMER due to setting "Value in master data table" is very quick but wrong and showing the "posted value in InfoProvider" is correct but it takes very long time.
My question is: Is there any method to upgrade the performance for this case?
    Many thanks for answers!
    Van Anh Nguyen

    Hi,
To avoid that goto the maintaince of that characterstic infoobject and in the Tab Page: Business Explorer set property Filter Selection in Query Execution property to Only Values in InfoProvider so that variable will not fetch all the data instead it will display only required data.
Its becoz "This field tells you how the selection of filter values is determined when a query is executed.
When queries are executed, the selection of filter values is usually determined by the data that is selected by the query. This means that only the values for which data has been selected in the current navigation status are displayed.
In many cases, however, it can be useful to include additional values. Therefore you can also choose the settings Only Values in InfoProvider and Values in Master Data Table. If you make this selection, however, you may get the message “No data found” when you select your filter values."

  • How to create  a report in business explorer?

    Hi All,
how to create a report in business explorer after creating the information spaces   then how to operate the exploration view sets please if anyone knows can you explain me step by step...
    Thanks...

what exactly you want to do tell me
    1.in business explorer
or you want to create a webi
or you want to see the data in business explorer

  • Business Explorer and Business Intelligence Roles

Can someone answer the following questions about these 2 roles:
    Business Explorer
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase
    Business Intelligence
    pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/platform_add_ons/com.sap.ip.bi/Roles/com.sap.ip.bi.bi_showcase
It appears the BI Role above has the Business Planning feature, but Business Explorer does not.  Other than this, can someone explain the difference and why 2 seperate roles?
Also, if we give users the Business Explorer role, we do not want them to see the Bex Broadcasting tab that comes by default.  Is the only way to avoid this is create a copy of this standard delivered ivew (contained in the Business Explorer Role) and remove this tab?
Can anyone share thoughts or experience with these 2 different roles and modifying?
    Thanks,  Mark.

Business Explorer role is from 3.5 and BI role is new in 04s.
You will have to create the copy and remove the unwanted iViews from the new role.
You can set permissions at iView level (permission to specfc users for broadcaster iView) but it will be hard maintaining it.

    Hi,
We used to have the same issue. Check the system requirements for BI7.0 Analyser. We need to have Microsoft Excel 2003.
    Check the note 1013201

  • Disable or remove "Business Explorer" in the menu bar

    Hi,
I'm using BEx Analyzer and tring to disable some controls in BEx toolbar. I got some helpful information from the following thread Bex Analyzer Toolbar in Excel and now I can grey out some toolbar buttons. But I found there is also a "Business Explorer" in the top menu bar. Does anyone know how to disable or remove that?

    hi MSTF,
    try this
    Sub Disable_BEx()
    Dim CmdBar As CommandBar
    Dim CmdBarMenu As CommandBarControl
' Point to the Worksheet Menu Bar
Set CmdBar = Application.CommandBars("Worksheet Menu Bar")
' Point to the BEx menu on the menu bar
    Set CmdBarMenu = CmdBar.Controls("Business Explorer")
    'to disable menu "Business Explorer"
    CmdBarMenu.Enabled = False
    'to hide/'remove' menu "Business Explorer"
    CmdBarMenu.Visible = False
    End Sub
    hope this helps.

  • Federating the Business explorer role

Recently we have successfully federated some reports for some business users.  Now another business group is interested in federating the Business explorer role.  They would like to take advantage of the BexWebanayzer iview and a few of its features.   They want the ability to personalize (change the columns and filteringu2026) a report and save it in their personal Portfolio area in KM on the producer.   I'm having some issues federating that iview and the business explorer role.  Is anyone aware of any other SAP users that have federated the Business explorer role?
Along with federating the role the users would like to hide 2 of the tabs within the popup iview of the "save as" in the BexWebAnalyzer iview . I don't know if this is even possible to modify the popup and I can't seem to find that popup object/iview.
    Thanks, any info is appreciated.
    Jim

    Hey @ All,
how did you install the EP? What kind of Usagetype did you select?
To have the BI content installed to the EP you need to install the BI usagetype as well. So in SAPinstaller you have to check the marks properly.
If you have installed only the EP usagetype you are able to reinstall the BI usagetype afterwards. As far as I know you can start the SAPinstaller again and set the right checkmarks.
The BI (usagetype) content needs a WEBAS Java and EP installed.
Hope this explanation helped a little... if so points are very welcome since i am starting from scratch!
    kind regards
    Tobi

  • Business Explorer Enhancement

    Hi,
I got a role "Business Explorer" in Portal which is SAP Delivered
In which one of the iview assigned to that role is "Bex Portfolio"
In that iview a user can create folders, upload, test file,HTML Etc
    Questions:
When a user uploads a document where exactly the document is stored and
How can i create roles (permission) so that certain used will have readonly access and certain users can only create folders and upload files...i want them to restrict from uploading HTML...etc

    Hi,
It is better to make changes in  layout set , which u can find at the iview properties.
go to iview open properties -> layoutset
the current layout set may have options to create folder which u can user for admin
and advance copy the same - make changes according to the requirement  i e remove new folder option etc from collectionrender.
there are 3 items to change in layout set
    resourse renderer
    collection renderer
    details
by making changes in above 3 u can get the layout options as u wish.
copy the admin iview and change the layout set with modified one and assign to end user role.

    Sai Battula.

  • BI7 Business Explorer Installation Problem

I am new to BI, after install SAPGUI Front End and SAPBIGUI and then install BI7.10 Business Explorer 1000 patch. However when I go to Program -> Business Explorer -> Analyzer, an Excel pop up, click on the Bex Toolbox ("xxxBEx Analysis Toolboxxxx") Open icon, an foreign language label show "Offnen" , double click, no response. Move over other icon show like German "Sichern" "Atkualisieren" "Werkzenge".
Normally, it should allow me to click, and let me select "Open Query" or "open Workbook", however if I use the BW 3.x, it works fine.
Please let me know what goes wrong.
    Thanks a lot
    S

I got the answer from below link
    SAPGUI 7.10 Bex Analyzer issue
The problem is with Office 2003, what I did to fix the problem is to apply MS KB90741, detail please check above link.

  • Business Explorer

We have just techincally upgraded to BI7.
We've set the setting in the SPRO so that when we type RRMX, the old version (3.x) of BEx will be opened.
We've also deployed the new BI7 Logon Pad. Now we've both 3.x and BI7 BEx Explorer from the Start ->Program ->Business Explorer.
The problem is why the user still allow/can logon to the new BI7 BEx Explorer - i.e. Query Designer/WAD.?
Isn't it the setting on the SPRO control this already?
How can we prevent the user to logon from this new BI7 BEx Explorer?
    Please help.

    Hi iynn,
Definitely it will be good not to install the tools which users are not going to use and that will save the confusion. My earlier response was to illustrate that if you have these tools installed how can you restrict the users from accessing the new query designer.

  • Business Explorer 7.10 -- Bex Problem

we have implemented GUI for Business Explorer 7.10.
Everything (Query Designer, Web Designer) works fine, except Bex Analyser.
When click on any item in Bex Analyser Toolbox (Excel) nothing appears.
Analyser 3.x that comes with GUI 7.10 works fine.
    Our Office Version is 2003.
Anybody knows waht we have to do ?
    Thanks in advance.

    In continuation....
    Some Insights-
The minimum frontend requirements for any backend support pack are available in table: RSFRONTENDINIT
In order to launch new Bex ,the setting has to be made in the new BEx Analyzer, and is called "Launch legacy version from RRMX"
However for some this settng worked for some it didnt ,check below link to tweak settings as needed.
Re: Launch of BEx Analyzer via RRMX, other transaction?
But the important note on FEP for Bex analyzer versions is
Note 970002 - Which BEx Analyzer version is called by RRMX?
it talks the SP level 10 and 12 to be minimum and walks you through different ways to achive the Bex version.
    Re: BEx analyzer settings
    BEx Query version required
    Hope this helps.

    Anil
