Hi ,
Please tell me
1) what is the main difference between BI content and LO extraction.
2) What happens when we install business content and what happens when we do LO extraction.why are we doing this extraction.?
3) Which process must be done first.
and LO is for logistics extraction i.e. SD,MM etc.(please correct if i am wrong)
4) what about extraction with respect to finance is there anything like LO extraction for finance also?
please explain in simple english.
regards
lap.

1) what is the main difference between BI content and LO extraction.
BI contenat means the objects delivered by SAP. This includes data sources, data providers, info objects, udate rules, transfer rules, reprots, etc etc.
LO extraction refers to the process of extracting logistics data.
So, these two are not comparables.
2) What happens when we install business content and what happens when we do LO extraction.why are we doing this extraction.?
When you install BI content, all the objects ( depending on the mode of collection in RSA1 - business content) and if they are already present in the system in which is installed, merge.
LO extraction, as said in 1. above,  when you extract LO, depending on the application area, it extracts the transaction data. For example, if you chose extract Sales order information, it picsk all the sales order data from the R/3 system.
3) Which process must be done first.
You need to install the BI first before you start the LO extraction process.
and LO is for logistics extraction i.e. SD,MM etc.(please correct if i am wrong)
YES, you are right. LO referes to all LO processes such as SD, MM, PM, PP, QM, CS. etc.
4) what about extraction with respect to finance is there anything like LO
For all other extractors, there is no special steps like LO. However, for COPA and FISL there wont be any BI content data sources.

    well,
I think you don't have to care too much about what did the R/3 consultant; of course what they have configured will be reflected in BW. The configuration impacts on how the data is populated and if your business objects are populated in R/3. It may or may not fit with the business requirement and sometimes it gets complicated to represent the data in BW.
But that's why we have the business content.
So you activate BC objects you need to report on in BW. LO datasources and extractors will be part of this activation. Then you connect both systems and extract this data. You'll have to check with your business req if your extraction reflects the R3 data as wanted by definition.
I a fresh server, you will then just customize and implement all the workbench necessary (IObjs, Cubes, ODS, transformations....). if your system is empty then you won't data to check! But you'll move your developpment to a BW QA or PROD sys which will be connected to a client in R3 having data (otherwise your SD consultants wouldn't be able to test either...)
Replication: when a DataSource has been changed in the source system (R3), the BW receiving structure has to be adjusted. this is done via the replication procedure.
The source system keeps a timestamp of when the DataSource has been reactivated the last time. BW has also this timestamp in its DataSource. When you change your DS in R3, the timestamp will be updated. If you request now data in BW from this DS, the system will complain because both DS (in BW and in R3) have different timestamps. That's why you have to replicate prior loading.
The replication may inactivate follow up objects like extract structure, transfer structure and TRules.
    hope that helps...
    Olivier.

  • Customer and Generic extraction difference ?

    Hi ya,
Could any body tell me the difference between the customer and Generic extractions.what are the extraction steps?
    Regards.
    H

    Hi,
In Generic extraction we have to fetch the data from table/view/funtion module.T.code RSO2.
Replicate the data source in bw and send into data target through ods(recommandable).
In customized extraction sap provided LIS,LO-COCKPIT,CO-PA,FI-SL etc,in these sap provides extract stuructures. From the extract structures we have to fetch the data and replicate the data into bw and push into the data targets.

  • Difference between "restore" and "erase all content and settings"?

    Hello,
I was wondering what is the difference between "Restore" on itunes and "Erase all content and settings" on iphone?
Is it the same and if yes why does it take longer to "Erase all content and settings" on iphone?

The restore only deletes all the data and reinstalls the iPhone Operating System, but someone can still carve out deleted information if they know what they are doing. The erase all content and settings will delete and overwrite everything on the iPhone so it is impossible to even extract any data from the iPhone.
Personally I've only used the erase all content and settings when I've had to return my iPhone to Apple for technical difficulties or when I've sold an iPhone to someone else. There is no reason to do this method if you are simply reinstalling the Operating System for yourself.

  • Difference between Target Content and Homepage Pagelet

    Hello All,
I am new to PS Portal Structure. Currently I am using PS HRMS 9.0 and PT - 8.49. what is the difference between Target Content and Homepage Pagelet?
    Thanks!

PeopleSoft Portal use the 2-3 column layout to display pagelet on the homepage, for homepage pagelet, it just used to presents informaiton on the homepage.
For target content, PS spide the window by 2 columns, the left is the PeopleSoft Menu Navigation, the right panel is used to display the menu item related target content.
Target content is the PeopleSoft standard page/component, but pagelet can created from many sources, HTML, Query, Rowset, ..., and it also can create from page/component.

  • I need to restrict printing but keep the Content Type and Page Extraction allowed. How do I keep both the content type and page extraction displaying allowed?

When I change the settings to allow for the content type and page extraction and save it, it shows allowed.  When I close the pdf, reopen it, review the security properties, it shows the content type as allowed and the page extraction as disallowed. I need both to stay at allowed, how do make this happen?

The moment that you select not to allow any kind of change done to the file then pages extraction is automatically not allowed as well. There's no way around that.

  • What is the difference between retore and erase all content and settings

i was wondering what is the difference an ordinary retore in itunes and a erase all content and setting on my ipod touch. do they both do the same thing because i might sell my ipod and also does this process require you to connect to itunes after or can you just give it to the new user.

Erase all settings restores the device to its original factory state. All your stuff is gone and there is no iOS installed.
iTunes Restore simply replaces the device content with that from your last backup. It does not change the version of nor install a version of iOS. Whateve version of iOS is on the device remains.
Restore is used if you are having a problem with something on your device. Erase all Settings is used to remove everything in the event you were selling the device and wanted to clear it of all your files and data.
See the IPod Touch user guide

  • Difference of 'Specify Fragmentation Content'  and 'where clause Filter ' ?

What is the difference of ‘Specify Fragmentation Content’ and ‘where clause Filter ‘
As per my understanding Both looks like limit the data ?

'Specify Fragmentation Content’ is for Union-ing tables, e.g. one table has data for 2008 while other has 2005-2007, so 'Specify Fragmentation Content’ tells server where to go look for data.
'Where clause Filter' is for limiting data from the table, e.g. where status = 'Funded'

  • Difference between LO and Fi extraction

    Hi,
What are major differences between FI and LO extraction?
    Sridhar

    Hi,
FI provides direct data extraction that mean you can load data  without filling any setup tables in R3 side however LO provides indirect data extraction and that requires to fill setup tables then you can loaddata into BW.Check this thread.
Diffrance between SD extraction and FI extraction

  • Difference between LIS and Lo extraction

    Hi,
Wat is the Difference between LIS and LO extraction.
    Thanks,
    Sanu

    HI
One good difference between lis and los is
lis uses transparent tables where as los use cluster tables
ust some infos about LIS flows....
with Plug-In 2001.2 S2xx-Structures have been replaced by Logistics Extraction Cockpit. However, R/3 releases 4.x support S2xx-Structures and Logistics Extraction Cockpit in parallel.
With new LBWE extractors there are a lot of benefits:
    - Detailed Extraction: extraction can be deactivated (e.g. Schedule Line Data) leads to leaner extractors with less volume.
    - Document Changes: only BW-relevant data changes will be updated (less upload volume).
    - LIS-Tables are not updated reduced data volume due to avoided redundancy.
    - Update with Batch-Process (V3) -> no load on daily business (but now there are available different delta methods as the direct delta...)
    - No LIS-Know How necessary.
    - Functional Enhancements easy to be done.
    - Central, uniform maintenance tool for logistics applications (LBWE)
    - No Delta-Tables (SnnnBIW1/-2) no double update, no double Data-Storage
    - A lot of flows are covered: Purchasing,Inventory Controlling, Shop Floor Control, Quality Management, Shipment, Sales, Shipping, Billing, Plant Maintenance, Customer Service,
    hope this helps

  • Difference between BI content and HANA optimized BI content ?

    Hi to all,
Is BW is already have HANA database, what is difference between BI content and HANA optimized BI content.
Can any one explain in general term, I have already gone with SAP HELP but, cant grab more of it.
Does we have HANA optimized BI Content only for DS and FI only.
    Regards
    Pavneet Rana

    Hi Pavanet,
you can find more info on the SAP HANA-optimized BI Content and the supported areas following this link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw74/helpdata/en/28/a1065182d3c557e10000000a44176d/frameset.htm
The SAP HANA-optimized content does contain physical InfoProviders and adheres to the LSA++ architecture paradigm as to reduce persistencies where possible and if it makes sense. One purpose is to provide a guidance of data modelling in the SAP BW on HANA case making use of recent SAP BW features.
For the near future a switch to the recent BW Infoproviders (advanced) DSO and CompositeProvider is planned.
    best regards,
    Simon

  • Difference between the TABs  "All Content" and "Discussions" on the new forum?

    Hi,
Does anyone know the difference between the TABs  "All Content" and "Discussions" on the new forum?  They seem to be the same.  I'm confused.
    Petey

    Petey,
Though I was part of the forum update beta, there was some that we could not effectively test, plus some aspects (like "Like"), that some liked, but others did not. That sort of thing happens.
Also, now that we have the full version, and all servers are synced, there will probably be things that the beta testers did not get to experience. We will all be learning, in the process too. Also remember, much of the new forum software was provided by Jive, and though many of us commented (pros and cons), only so much could be addressed. It was not quite like doing a beta on Adobe software, as there was a complete, separate layer in between.
So far, what I see looks close to what we saw a few weeks (months?) ago. Now, I need to really put the real software through its paces, to see what got changed from then, until now.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Extract Conversion Difference and Exchange Rate Difference Journal Only

    Hi Experts,
How can we extract all Conversion Difference and Exchange Rate Difference Only?
Is there any parameter that we can use to extract this data?
    Please advice
    Regards,
    Amy

    Hi,
First, you should define transaction code in Administration >>> setup >>> financials >>> transaction codes.
Example: DIE : Different Exchange Rate
Every time you execute Exchange Rate Difference and Conversion Difference, remember to assign DIE code to "Code" field. Then you can extract DIE journal entry easily by choosing DIE code when use expanded function in any accounting reports.
    Hope this helps,

  • Difference between "Distribute Content" and "Update Distribution Points"

    Hi,
Can someone clarify this for me, I need to redistribute a package to all my distributions points. Should select distribute content and then select the DP's or should I just use the option "Update Distribution Points" to redistribute? TIA

Yes. Once content has been distributed you can not "Distribute Content" again to the same DP. However, you do have another option, go to the properties of the DP, "Content" tab, find the package in question and conduct a re-distribute.
This approach does not increase the versioning of the content whereas "Update Distribution Points" does.
P.S. If you have not read it yet, here is a great
article about content monitoring and validation.
