BI Content Remote Activation of Datasource - Transports

During the process of installing BI content in the Dev BW Environment, I am promted to login to the source system (CRM DEV in this case) so that the BI content datasources can be activated and replicated remotely. This process works fine.
The question I have is the following.
When I tranpsort all the BW BI content objects from our DEV BW environment to the BW QA environemt, do I still need to collect the activated datasources in the source system (CRM DEV ) and also transport them to CRM QA ?
Or does the remote activation and replication of the datasources(in the source system-CRM QA) happen automatically when i transport the BW BI content objects from DEV BW to BW QA.

I don't think, the remote activation and replication of the datasources(in the source system-CRM QA) happen automatically BW QA.
In BI 7.0, the general practice is, first u have transport datasources from ECC Dev to ECC QA...Then replicate these datasources in BI QA.
In most of the cases, these replicated datasources becomes inactive in BI QA.
To over come this, after the replication, u should transport Datasources from BI DEV to QA, so that this DS overwrites replicated (inactive) ones from ECC.

Hi, before collecting the datasource to the right you have to select the source system by one of the following ways:
1) press Shift F7
2) click on the source system icon on top
3) goto menu Edit->Source system assignment
About your secod question check if the BI content already has a mapping defined if not you have to manually create the mapping.

Remote activation in different Clients of R/3 system

I am trying to do CubeServ BW case study from SAP Business Intelligence book. I am logged in BW system and the exercise requires transfer of Data Source Object from BI Content. When I try this step I am prompted with "Remote activation in the Source System E61CLNT050" message followed by login window. I have access to Client51 of R/3 system. But when I check for available source systems, E61CLNT051 and E61CLNT052 are available but there is no E61CLNT051. So I am stuck at this step.
Is there a way to add or (switch to ) E61CLNT051 and continue with other steps?

Hi Dili,
This is due to Source System Configuration done in TCodes SALE and SM59. You also have to note that while defining the systems, they should be defined as Trusted System so that the User Authentication screen doesnt come up.

Installation of Business content and activation

Hello,
Our Source system is ECC 6.0 and
BW :NW2004 S and SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 .
We are able to create source system conection successfully . after installing the business content and replication, all the data souces in BW are still in Version D only. Do i need to select each DS individually to activate ? or am i missing any steps ?
Any help is highly appreciated ?

I was also passed this latest information from my colleagues in Product Management.
The method I explained is the old method for activating DataSources and extractors. It is still valid in SAP NetWeaver 2004s but there is a new, and easier, methid to do this now.
Also if you have followed my instructions, there is an additional change in the replication process and a decision you must make:
"Once the customer has activated the DataSource via rsa5 in source system, then he/she needs to replicate this datasource to BI. During the replication, he/she is asked via pop-up whether he would like to replicate these datasources as 3.X DataSource or 7.0.x DataSource.
If he decides to replicate these datasources as 7.0.x DataSources, then the A version of this datasource will be seen in table RSDS, instead of the original table RSOLTPSOURCE.
So if the customer checked table RSOLTPSOURCE, then he/she only see the D version.
This could be the reason that customer still only see D version after the datasource replication."
The new method is:
"- If you have a 3.X datasource, during the source system connection, the D
version of DataSource is already replicated into BI.
- With transaction RSOR in BI, you need to select the related transfer rule, and via transfer rule you are able to collect the 3.X DataSource.
- Then you need to push 'install' button to activate this datasource.
- After activation, the A version of DataSource will be available in BI and in Source system.
- If you have a 7.0.x DataSource, the steps are the same like 3.X datasource. But via transaction RSOR you are able to directly select this datasource (object type RSDS).
So with BI capabilities of NetWeaver2004s technology, it's no longer nessary to run rsa5 in the source system to activate the datasource."

Removing of remote activation

Hi friends,
I am activating ofg_gl_4 data source.
while i am doing it is giving error Remote data source can not be activated.
In r/3 i am activating this data source by using transaction rsa5.
But still it is giving error.
For that one i have to remove the remote activation in bi system.
Could you please any one tell me how to do it.

Hi......
1)The remote activation is subject to an authorization check. Authorization object S_RO_BCTRA is checked. System administration must have assigned you the role SAP_RO_BCTRA in order for you to be able to activate the DataSources .This authorization applies to all the DataSources in a source system.
2)For remote activation, the D versions of the DataSources must exist in the BI system. They are replicated when you connect a source system and when you replicate to the BI system for an application component or a source system........

Activation of datasource in SBIW

Hi experts
I have activated the datasource 0TCTATYPE_TEXT in development system.
This object has not been assigned to a transport order.
In development system this object is in both object version available: A and D.
In test system only object version D is available.
Any ideas what's wrong?

I assume you generated this in development class or package (as they call it these days) $TMP
you can change it as follows:
open your DataSource (via RSA1)
follow menu path: Extras > Object Directory Entry
click Display/Change (or F6)
change $TMP to a valid (transportable) package
hit the green tick
you'll either have to assign a transport request then or create a new one

Error while activating a datasource

Hi All,
We have created a generic datasource. While we are activating the datasource, its throwing up a message saying: "Error in database while accessing a table." And also "Generation of conversion exit and PSA update". Please advice.

Hi All,
There are issues still pending in our report design. Besides the above issue, we have also got another issue related to Absenteeism column.
Example:
The report needs to show the absenteeism column on a monthly basis. If an employee goes on a unscheduled leave for 10 days which are scattered in two months (Ex: he takes leave from 28th April till 7th May), then if the report is executed for April, for that Employee, it should show only 3 days, i.e. 28th, 29th & 30th. The remaining days have to be displayed in the Absenteeism column of May report, i.e 1st, 2nd...till 7th.
There is one record whenever an employee goes on an unscheduled Leave.

Hence this record has to be split into two, based on the no. of days the employee has gone on an unscheduled leave in both the months like below.

Error while activating the datasource during migration

Hi Guys,
When we were trying to migrate the datasources from 3.x to BI 7.0, we are encountering an error with the activation of the datasource. The datasource itself has been migrated but the ativation log gives and error
Error in activating the datasourc----RSO404
Has anyone encountered this issue? Your input is highly appreciated.

Thanks for the response but the note talks about deletion of the DTP causing the errors. Moreover we are already on SP 13. Any other ideas?

where you are getting error in ECC?. or in BW?. If it is already in use, then you need to clear all Queues and then try to activate it.

Error while activating BC datasources

Hi guys,
I am getting this error while activating BC datasources...it is only with my login, rest of the users can work well.
Error:
DataSource 0BP_ACTITLE_TEXT; switch to package BUPA_CENTRAL_DATA_BW is off
this happened with all DS in the BC, the problem occured because while activating initially my connection got disconnected and then this problem started.....
how do i rectify this? any help would be highly appreciated.....

make sure that the server from which ur data source gets the values are also logged on

2LIS_04_P_MATNR - Prob in activating the Datasource in R/3

I am trying to activate datasource 2LIS_04_P_MATNR in r/3 in Tcode : rsa6/rsa5 and I am getting a warning that says
The even-numbered length of the DEC field I_DLZ_EX can lead to problems
I serached and found that note : 641744 is applicable.
The solution in the note says that there are 3 options to rectify this error as below:
If the field is not manipulated in the customer exit or elsewhere, no processing is required.
If you change the field, the following possible solutions are available:
You can make sure that the number of the characters does not increase after the manipulation.
If you can change the extract structure of the DataSource without affecting other scenarios (for example, if it was generated in transaction RSO2), you can increase the length of the DEC field (or CURR, QUAN) there to the next odd character (in the example above: from DEC 4 on DEC 5).
If neither of these solutions are possible, you can use a customer append that contains a relevant DEC field (or CURR, QUAN) with the next highest odd length. This can be used for the result of the calculations. This means that you do not have to manipulate the previous field.
I am opting the 3rd option i.e. to use an append structure with a field QUAN(in my case) that has next highest odd length
I am using the field BDMNG(length 13) from table RESB. The feild mentioned in the warning have length 12.
The problem is still occuring.
Am I able to understand the note correctly or am I missing something?

Thanks Deva. I ignored the warning and went ahead with the enhancement.
After the activation of datasource I deleted and filled the setup tables, but the NPRT log showed 0 records.
Then after reading few threads at SCN I came to a conculsion that my setup table is refering to view CAUFV which does not contain data for order category AUTYP 10(PP Production Order) and therefore the data extracted is 0.
There was a thread mentioning the same problem that said (steps to fill the setup tables for 2LIS_04_PECOMP(Repetitive manufacturing Component view)) that the solution was to run OLIFBW Tcode after completing OLI4BW setup. So i did the same. But still my NPRT log still shows 0 records.
Also I checked AUFK table. It does not contain any data for AUTYP 10.
Please advise what should be the correct way to solve this.

Suddenly when I am login in Portal with J2EE_ADMIN or any user , I am getting error
You are not authorized to access this application; contact your system administrator
and when I am going to create user in identity management I am getting below error
Current user has user creation permissions in the UME, but cannot create users in the back-end system (data source). The original and possibly untranslated message was: "No active writeable datasource found for user creation, check your Persistence Configuration.".
I have searched all related treads in SDN but no success
Please help.

Dear all,
I was searching the community because I had this same error and there was no answer of how it was fixed. So I'm sending how I fixed today in a customer environment.
1. Go to portal http://<portal>/webdynpro/dispatcher/sap.com/tcsecumewdumeadmin/UmeAdminApp
- select configuration
- folder "sap system based in abap"
- do the conection test
If the test fails, log on in client 001 and change user SAPJSF:
- assign role SAP_BC_JSF_COMMUNICATION (only this one) and one profile that has permission to RFC logon
- you can change the password too
STOP/START ABAP+JAVA
Go again to the portal above and test connection again. The tests should now be OK.
2. Go to portal http://<portal>/irj
- Log on with administrator user
Now you should be able to create an user.

Regarding Activation of Datasource error

We have replicated datasource from R3 source system and while trying to activate it was posting error
of while activation of transfer structure with conversion exits., We are using 7.0 datasource only.
We checked at RSA3 of datasource and data is coming successfully., we tried with program transferstruc activate program
and rsds-datsource program but couldnt able to get rid of error.
Can you please help me to resolve the issue of what to be done for activation of

In which situation I need to active objects after transport

Hi Experts,
I'm wondering in which situation I need to active object after transport? In some cases, I have to active transformation, DTP, infoobject, multiprovider.... Does any one make a conclusion of that?

Sometimes, because of impact of a transport some other objects will be deactivated, then we need to manuaaly activate the objects after transport.
Also, sometimes transport after import process could not be able to activate the objects, then also we have to activate them manually.
Or suppose, you have moved and infoobject, due to which some other objects become inactive (where ever infoobjects is being used), then we have to activate them manually, if you dont want to transport them.
