BI data extraction setup when upgrading SAP version

Hi,
What are the steps to be followed with respect to the BI data extraction from SAP setup when upgrading from R/3 4.7 to ECC 6.0?
Can anyone share any document that details the steps?

Hi,
I am trying to upgrade my current EP6.0 SPS10 environment to SPS12. But right now, I can't even get the sapinst to go past this one error after entering the path to the Java Cryptography Extension. After entering the path and clicking next, I get the following error message.

CJS-20060 <html>You entered the instance number 0 on host tp1 for the JC instance.<p>In the SAP system TP1, an JC instance exists already with the instance number 00 on host wsawd03q.</html>
We are currently running Portal on an HA Environment. The SCS instance was installed on host sapgrp. The CI instance was installed on wsawd03q. I am currently upgrading the CI instance. I've tried using the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME but it did not work and I don't believe its relevant because my CI does not use a virtual host name.
Please assist with this issue. Thank you very much in advance.

Hi,
This is a known problem which I think will be fixed in future versions of sapinst.
What you need to do is to move the profile files of the other system from /usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profiles , to a temporary location untill the installation starts. You can then start the installation and move the files back at the same time.
Basically, sapinst doesn't truely realize that you are installing on a virtual host, and therefore believes there is a conflict
PS you must use the SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME parameter if you have a virtual host.

Try disabling anti-virus also. You can also download the updates (not upgrade that is AA XI) from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows. With the downloads, you typically have to install them in order. Only reboot after the last install.

Error messge during data extract from flatfile to sap bw using DataServices

I am extracting data from flat file to SAP BW using Data Services tool. I am able to load all the data from flat file to SAP BW 3.x datasource successfully, but the request in in RED status with error message
Error Encountered at RFC Server Please Check Parameter Setting at BW System.
Can someone please help me how to resolve this issue?

Data extraction from r3 to sap bi 7.0

i am trying to transfer R/3 table into BI system.I created a DSO in Bi 7.o ,I can see the fields in BI 7.0 but I cannot see any data when i use that table for reporting . please tell me the steps that i should follow to get the data along with Fields.

Are you using a Generic Datasource or Business Content ??
If your R/3 table is not available in Business Content, then go for creating a Generic DS.
1) Goto RSO2 Tx in R/31
2) Enter a name for the DS in the "Transaction data"
3) Click "Create" (F5)
4) Enter the Appln component. (Select from the F4 list)
5) Enter the descriptions (Short, Medium, Long)
6) Click "Extractio0n from View"
7) In the "View/Table", select the table from which u want to extract data.
8) If you want to enable delta, then click on Generic Delta and follow the steps in the below doc.

9) Then save and replicate the DS.
10) Pull some sample data from that DS and check.

Upgrade in itself is a big task. But still I'll try to give a brief on what is the work of an ABAPer.
SAP provides with the list of all the chnages and also the new functionalities being implemented in the new version. The changes would be like:
1.fields, tables, data elements, domains etc are changed.
-> changes could be in the data type or length.
2. Some Funtion Modules might become obsolete, newer version will be available.
Work of ABAPer is to
change the required changes in all the custom programs.

Buffer Table Not Up To Date Short Dump When Publishing Change Version of Bid Invitation

Hi experts,
We are running SRM 5.5 with Support Level 16.
We have a bid invitation for which a user is trying to publish a Change Version. This bid contains two bid outlines, with one line item in each bid outline:
ITEM 1: HIER (Bid Outline)
ITEM 2: Line Item
ITEM 3: HIER (Bid Outline)
ITEM 4: Line Item
However, upon clicking on the Check or Publish button, the system throws a CX_BBP_PD_ABORT exception short dump. The reason for the exception given in ST22 is "Buffer table not up to date".
Due to organisational system security restrictions, I am unable to copy-paste the dump from ST22, so I will be typing out some of the details here.

Upon tracing the variable values in the ST22 dump, it appears the program terminates when processing line 3 (i.e. the second Bid Outline). It appears that the first Bid Outline processes fine.
In the iteration for Line 3, the dump provides that gt_itmadm-parent contains the GUID to the Change Version document header, whereas w_itmadm-parent contains the GUID to the original Bid Invitation document header, resulting in a mismatch and subsequently program termination.
We have tried to replicate this bid invitation in our Development environment, but when executing, both gt_itmadm-parent and w_itmadm-parent contain GUIDs to the Change Version document header, hence the program does not abort.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Janu,
For Note 1561750, I have looked at the Correction Details and observed that it makes changes to an IF-ELSE block, but will result in the same path of code execution as before. I.e., the Note changes the code from "IF a THEN b, ELSE c" to just "c", but according to my code trace, we are already executing the "ELSE c" block in its current state.
We will look further into Note 1877600. The unfortunate situation here is that since we are unable to replicate this issue in our Development/QA environment, and the Note description does not explicitly fit the situation we are facing, we need to be very sure that the Note can address the issue before bringing it into Production.
Otherwise, we will raise a message as suggested.

Error when upgrading to version 6

i recently got a replacement ipod (15gb) and was told to upgrade itunes and the ipod updater before attempting to add music to it, when i tried to download the latest version of itunes i was told - 'Some installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and try again.' So i did this and ijust kept getting the same message. Also when i downloaded the latest version of the ipod updater i was told - 'ipod manager internal error.' Appreciate any help anyone has to offer.

Ok when you get the option to run or save it, what do you do? It sounds like you are trying to run it. Make sure when doing an installation that you turn off firewalls/virus/pop-up blockers/web accelerators.

All my mailboxes in Office for mac 2011 deleted when upgrading the version of OS X Lion from 10.7.3?

Morning.
I upgraded my OS X Lion software from 10.7.3 yesterday and once done all my mailboxes in Outlook for Mac 2011 had been deleted - Outlook for Mac is completely empty! I have a yahoo and gmail account which are easy enough to resync, however I also had historical .pst files loaded up that I don't have any other copies of, that i need urgently :-).
I am using Time Machine to back up to a Time Capsule, so I restored to the backup about an hour before I did the OS X Lion update, however my Outlook folder is still empty :-(.
Please can someone assist in resolving this? How can I recover or locate the data files and reupload?

Thanks for your reply, much appreciated. I went to the respective folder and found the database file, however when I try open in Outlook I get the following message "You have not set up an e-mail account." and that I need to set an email account to send and receive messages?
In addition I tried to then import the database file and received the following message "The data file is damaged and Outlook is not able to import it". I then went into my later backup's in Time Machine, however there are no Data files under the Main Identity folder to compare against the current one? Any ideas what else I can do, and also why this would be he case? Many Thanks

Error 1602 when upgrading to version 1.1.3

I currently have 1.1.3 running windows xp (sp2) and the latest version of iTunes (7.6). I successfully downloaded the 1.1.3 update but when it tries to install I get the following (useless) error message "The iPod "Shaun's iTouch" could not be updated. An unknown error has occured (1602)." Any ideas?

Allow other users when upgrading from version 8 to 9

When I originally installed Parallels 8 I did not allow access to Windows to other users on my iMac. I am now upgrading to Parallels 9 and want to enable another user on my computer to access my Windows programs. Will I be prompted to allow other users when I install the Parallels 9 upgrade or will I have to go into Parallels 9 later to allow this. If I have to go in later, how do i do it.

Error when upgrade Emergency Version

A customer not have any more access to Bootloader. When we power on the WLC, there is nothing on the console... He tells that he had try to upgrade from the bootloader menu (Manually Update Images), and I think that he had upgrade the bootloader with one of the two .aes file AIR-WLC4400-K9-5-2-157-0-ER.aes or AIR-WLC4400-K9-5-2-178-0.aes.
Is there a chance to recover the access to the WLC without return the WLC to CISCO support ?

There is a process to reload the image to the controller manually but you will have to contact TAC for assistance.

Here is a workaround to change the ftpTimeout value:
1) log into service account and become root using same svc acct PW: su
2) cd /usr/cids/idsRoot/etc
3) cp curHostConfig.xml curHostConfig.xml.bak
4) vi curHostConfig.xml
- search for FTPTimeout: /FTPTimeout
- visually confirm that your cursor is on the FTPTimeout line
- delete this line: dd
- search for ftpTimeout: /ftpTimeout
- visually confirm that your cursor is on the ftpTimeout line
- delete this line: dd
- save changes :w
- exit :q
5) reboot: shutdown -r now

Has anyone had any data loss issues when upgrading their OS?

I am upgrading to Snow Leopard 10.6 and then to Lion, but I don't want to risk losing photos, music etc.
