BI Dev client inactive & DSO activation problem

Hi SAP Experts,
Am facing some problems in DSO activation. Firstly the Business content DSO was not activating .So I had to activate the Datasources on the R/3. There were no errors in the job log but the DSO was still inactive. On trying to manually activate it , its stated that the BI Dev client was inactive. So I went to the Source Sytems tab, activated the BI client but it failed showing the following error messages:
1.EDI:Partner profile not available-> A partner profile could not be found with the following key:/IBDCLNT010/LS/
This involves the key fields of the table EDPP1: PARNUM.PARTYP
2.Entry in outbound table not found-> A partner profile could not be found with the following key:/IBDCLNT010/LS/RSRQST///
This involves the key fields of the table EDP13:RCVPRN,RCVPRN,RCVPFC
3.Entry in inbound table not found........LS/RSINFO :
4.Similar to error 3 :...../LS/RSSEND
5.Destination IBDCLNT010 has incorrect Unicode settings,adjust it to destination:
The unicode settings do not match the source systems.Conversion errors might occur during data transfer.Adjust the destination accordingly.
Has anybody seen this error log before. If so please do let me know your valuable suggestions.

Hi,
As of 1-4 error messages.
You must define in partner profiles (ts WE20) the message type RSRQST as outbound on BI side and inbound on R/3 side, the message types RSINFO, RSSEND as inbound on BI side and outbound on R/3 side.

DSO activation problem after creating the secondary indexes

Hi,
I am facing the problem with DSO activation after creating the secondary indexes.
Compared with Info Cubes there is no functionality available which allows dropping and recreating a secondary index before/after the data activation.
As a workaround I can write a simple report which drops and creates the indexes on database level.
By using a process chain, we can simply insert the drop index report before data activation and the create index report after the data activation process.
Can any body help me step by step procedure or Material to write the programs for delete index and create index reports on DSO object?..

hi,
in BI if you are using the dso for reporting then you can simply chk the settings of dso for SID generation.
no need to create the indexes or delete it.
if the dso is not used for report then no need to use indexes.

Activation Problem from Dev to QA through transport

We are tryiing to do a transport from Dev to QA and we are getting the following error even after several re-import of a request. We have also checked and rechecked the activated infoobjects and also if any of the objects are locked by some other request or not.
The request gets cancelled with error code -12.
It looks like when we transport the InfoObjects in small bunch, it gets successfully transported, otherwise if there are lots of InfoObjects in a request then it fails.

Hi,
There are many info objects which are not activate, because of this all other objects are failed, so create seperate trasport request for info objects and another request for Data source and info providers.

DC Activation Problem in CBS

Hello,
I am facing DC Activation problems in CBS.
- We have two DC utils and config. The config DC uses utils DC and everything is working fine locally
- Today we are migrating these local projects in NWDI.
- I created new DCs in NWDI and copied the SRC folder. Did all required steps for migration, built locally and it works fine.
- I then checked in utils and activated the same in NWDI, its working fine.
- I then defined the dependency from the active workspace and everything is still fine.
- Now I checkin the src of config DC and build the same. Here the problem arises. The Build Fails
- Checked SDN and can see lot of people facing this problem but there is no solution.
Any pointers to solve this problem will be helpful

Problem Solved.
I removed the utils DC from my client. Also deleted the folder from the workspace. After this I created the project from the Dev Config perspective again. I was surprised to see there is no component in my utils DC and thats why the problem was there.
I again copied all the src folder in the workspace and refreshed the DC. Now it locked all the source in the activity. I checked it in and repeated the above excercise. This time all the source code was there.
I deleted the dependency in the config dc and created again from active workspace(although now I realize it was not required) and checkedin and activated.
Hurray!!! It got activated.

Dso activation is not happening

HI guru's,
I am loading the data to dso and manually activating the request ,it is taking long time and finally not activating
dso activation is always failing , Iam not able to figure out the problem , please help me out.
After some time the job is failed and showing the message
"Activation sid for datastore object changed from 0 to 68"

Hi,
There are a couple of places where you can see the activation progress.
1) To start with SM37 job log > (give BI_PROCESS_ODSACTIVAT or BI_ODSA*)
and it should give you the details about the activation job. If its active make sure that the job log is getting updated at frequent intervals. If its completed check the log for ODS activation.
2) For very huge number of records SM37 job log may not get update frequently. In that case you have a workaround.
Go to contents > Active Data table > No. of entries > This will keep on increasing at frequent intervals.
3) SM66 > Get the job details (server name PID etc from SM37) and see in SM66 if the job is running or not. See if its accessing/updating some tables or is not doing anything at all.
4) Go to Activate button in Target > Request tab. Inside you can see a job log button. It will also show some log regarding the last activation.
5) If the Reporting icon has appeared near the request id in ODS. If it appears that may indicate that request is available for reporting
6) Check the request status in these tables.
Table RSICCONT table contains the requests that are actually loaded in a target.
Table RSMONICDP contains the request id of the fact table.
Table RSODSACTREQ contains information if an ODS is available for reporting/deleting inactive requests also possible.
Table RSODSACTUPDTYPE.
Check and let us know.

DSO Activation Error - While Installing BI Content

    First, I deleted one sap source systems for BW1 ( My bw1 server BI is : BW1CLNT100 ), later ,I create the same sap source system, But active 0FIAP_O03 ods,
had error:
DataSource 80FIAP_O03 does not exist in source system BW1CLNT100 of version A
Error when creating the export DataSource and dependent Objects
Error when activating DataStore Object 0FIAP_O03
I go to BW1CLNT100 datasoucres ,I not finded 80FIAP_O03 datasoucre, But I goto bw prd BI datasoucre, I found   80FIAP_O03 datasoucre.
I think loss 80FIAP_O03 datasoucre for BW1CLNT100 source system, because I am't delete Roules on the 0FIAP_O03 infosoucre for delete sap soucre systems.

You should generate the export data source for 0FIAP_O03 again, if there is still a problem please goto
RSA1 > SOURCE SYSTEMS > and right click on the relevant source system, find the datamart application component and
right click on this to replicate the datasource.

DSO Activation

I have a standard DSO. In the settings, the only thing checked is "Set Quality Status to 'OK' Automatically", I have this loading using a process chain and in the chain, I have the Activate process included.
The DSO loads with no problem, but the Activate step fails with error message "No active PSA table".
Two things that seem weird:
1. Without doing anything, I go to the DSO > Manage and the DSO has been activated (so why does the process Activate in the process chain fail?)
2. If I Repeat the Activate step in the process chain, even though the process is active based on # 1 above, the Activate step turns green and completes the process chain.
I am having this problem for several DSOs in several different chains.

Symptom
When you execute a DTP for loading a Datastore Object error happens in the activation of Datastore. This typically happens in a process chain. The error messages are as follows:
o RSDRO 103: "PSA update failed"
o RSAODS 003: "Error occurred while deciding partition number"

Errors found by DSO activation

Diagnosis
Characters that have a hexadecimal display between HEX00 and HEX1F are not permitted in characteristic values. The character at position 1 is one of these characters. The value is therefore not permitted.
Note that these characters cannot be displayed and are therefore displayed as '#'. The actual character '#' has the hexadecimal display HEX23.
Procedure
Check the origin of the characteristic value. If possible, change the characteristic value in the source.
Incorrect source text in update routines and transfer routines can also cause this problem.

You are trying to load the invalid characteristic value 1. (hexidecimal representation 4232203132333435363720204B6162656C7361747A).
Procedure for System Administration
Try to change the invalid characters to valid characters.
If you want values that contain invalid characters to be admitted into the system, make the appropriate setting in BW Customizing. Refer to the documentation describing the requirements for special characters and the possible consequences.

Hi,
You have invalid characters for the field ZM_MATTAU. Due to these your DSO activation is failing.
The way to resolve this is to write a cleansing routine for that field to strip away the bad characters and only permit the good characters to go through.
If you search the forum you'll get sample codes for the same.

Deadlock when deleting from rsstatmanpsa during DSO activation

We are experiencing intermittent Oracle deadlocks during DSO activation in our BI system. The deadlocks occur when the following SQL statement is executed:
      delete from rsstatmanpsa where
             partnr >= l_s_status-rnr_sid and
             psa     = l_s_status-dta.
This is at line 83 of the SET STATUS method of class CL_RSSM_STATMAN. (See below for runtime error details.)
When these errors occur the background job for the DSO activation is cancelled with the message ABAP/4 processor: DBIF_RSQL_SQL_ERROR. Strangely, when this occurs as part of a process chain, the status of the process variant does not get updated until/unless someone displays the process chain log, at which point the status changes and follow-on events are triggered. In other words, the process chain does not seem to be receiving word that the DSO activation process has abended, so we do not receive alerts that a problem has occurred.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks for the suggestion. This is the same recommendation I just received from SAP.
We are currently in the midst of regression testing for a major release, so cannot implement these corrections immediately. I'll post again after we implement the corrections and let you know if they solve our problem.

Client has no active subscriptions exception

Hi!
I'm ocasionally getting error below on BlazeDS when performing session close on Flex Client wich involves following steps:
- Close AMF channel used for remote object communication.
- Perform HTTPRequest to a custom Logout servlet on server.
- Unsubscribe messaging consumer from its destination (it uses a polling AMF channel).
- Reload application with following code:

I forgot to mention that my testing environment consists of a cluster with two Tomcat-BlazeDS instances. I've configured BlazeDS cluster as follows:

    </clusters>
After testing it seems the exception occurs at user login in Flex client (that is when client is subscribed to the polling destination) and only if both nodes are up. So I think the problem might be caused because of consumer be subscribed only to destination on a node so when the other node receives the polling request I get the exception. Following polling request do not throw any error on any node so perhaps there is a delay time between subscriptions are replicated on BlazeDS cluster.
May I be right? Then, what could be the solution for this problem?

After transportation into prod datasource showing under DEV client

I am transporting a cube with data flow before. After successful transportation of the objects Datasource showing is under DEV client not under Prod client.
What might be the problem? Whether Am I missing any steps?

There should be 2 Columns: 1) Orginal Logical system: Here you should enter the Source system's Logical name of BI DEV System( i.e DEV R/3 )
2) Target Source system :Here you should enter the Source system's Logical name of BI Prod System( i.e Prod R/3 )

DSO activation issue

hi gurus,
we have started facing problem in bw system suddenly for dso activation.
earlier it was running fine for 2 million records it used to take ard 3600 sec to complete but now its running for 10-11000 sec and getting failed.even for dso whwre its 20000 records its failing wit message "bi_bctl failed due to missing confirmation"
and it is happening very frequently.we have maintained settings as 3600 sec -max wait time in RSODSO_SETTINGS.
But nthng is wrkng and now problems seems to be more complex as even dtp loads are running for long time to load data to cube
can anyone guide us as when we check in SM50 BGD process are also free so not able to find root cause as several dumps are also cmng in ST22.what can we ask basis team to check ?any parametrs.setitng.etc

Hi
Check how many parallel processes(child jobs) you have for this DSO activation step. this will happen due to non availability of background processes.
Check you have enough background processes and try to decrease the number of child jobs.
if you are running DSO activation PC, make sure you have not selected option "automatic activate the data upon loading" in DSO.

DSO activation faster

Dear Experts,
Is there any way that the DSO activation can happen fast.I need it for reporting so I cannot remove the setting SIDs upon activation and reporting flag.
Can you advise as I have DSO which is taken huge long time of 3 hrs which has 2 request but with huge data.

Recommendations for improving the performance,
1. Recommendations regarding RSODSO_SETTINGS
(available from 7.0, for 3.X release use transation RSCUSTA2):
                                                                  Page 2
If you want the processes to run in background, you may have to increase
the amount of batchjobs available in your system (RZ04). The activation
can not run in parallel if there are no batchjobs available. This could
also occur because there are other programs using batchjobs.
- Increase the number of parallel processes for activation and for SID
generation.
- If it is necessary, decrease the packet size in the transaction
RSODSO_SETTINGS to 10.000 and increase the wait time.
DataStore configuration (RSODSO_SETTINGS) should reflect the server
configuration
- Check the number of batch processes in SM50/SM51
- Verify that your application server has enough free processes (dialog
or batch, depending on the settings).
SAP common recommendations:
Batch processes    = (All Processes/2)+1
Wait Time in Sec. =   3 * rdisp/max_wprun_time
rdisp/max_wprun_time - RZ11 (Note 25528)
Please refer to the Note 1118205 for more detailed info.
2. Recommendations regarding ODS maintainance settings:
- Do not set automatic activation when loading in parallel to an ODS as
this might lead to activation starting when requests are not yet green
in the ODS.
- The runtime of the request activation is dominated by the SID
creation, therefore using flag "SIDs Generation upon Activation" will
have significant impact on the activation time. If you deactivate this
flag, reporting is still possible since missing SIDS will be created
during the query runtime from 7.0
3. Recommendations/limitations regarding ODS operations:
- Do not activate too many large requests together
The following applies as a rule of thumb:
<Number of requests> * <Sum of all records in these requests> /
<Package size of the activation step> must be less than 100.000
This rule is implemented by note 1157070
- Ensure serial loading by using the option in the processing tab of the
scheduler for "PSA only" and check the "update subsequent data targets"
- In case of a large number of requests in an ODS refer to note 620361
"Data loading performance/Admin. data target"
This system limitation for the maximum number of requests for one
ODS/cube is also described in the Notes 543212 and 892513
- Using DTP also causes poor performance in some cases, please check the

4. Recommendations regarding db related actions:
- Update statistics for the ODS tables (DB20)
- Create secondary indexes
- To prevent performance problems with ODS activation it can be
necessary to unbuffer large tables in the master data upload according
to the following guidelines;
- Generally, it is recommended to unbuffer large SID (tables named
/BIC/S* or /BI0/S) or attribute tables (tables names /BI/P, /BI/Q*,
/BI/X and /BI/Y)
When new rows have to be added into the single record buffer, this can
lead to problems with the performance even with appropriate extent sizes

DSO activation step has been failing if i activate from process chain

one of the DSO activation step is failing from process chain.
Problem : if i do the activation from PC then only it is failing
If i do the DSO activation manually then it is fine .

Can you help me with FontExplorer font activation problems?

Anyone know how to solve a font activation problem I am having with FontExplorer 4.2? I am on a new mac with new fonts, I am using Maverick with Adobe CS6. With my new mac I bought the latest version of FontExporer Pro X 4.2. This program is having trouble with font activation in all my Adoble suite apps including Indesign. Here is what I am seeing:
1. The font activates, but the Adobe app does not recognize that it is active. If I go back to Font Explorer and deactivate manually, then re-activate manually. The adobe app might then recognize it. Sometimes it still doesn't. But this does not stay permanently, as soon as I do a restart I have to go through this process again. I see this more often with the User system fonts, but a few times with my regular fonts.
2. Other times, such as in Indesign, I go to open the file and the file stalls and doesn’t progress while it is trying to activate the fonts.
3. Another time I have seen after an illustrator file is opened the fonts aren't recognized as being opened and the text goes blank on the page.
4. In all adobe apps, if I go to use "replace font" on the missing fonts (even though they are turned on) the "replace font" menu only shows the basic system fonts, it won't show me the other fonts turned on.
I have seen these issues with both formerly created files and fresh new files.
I have tried the following based on feedback from Font Explorer staff:
Refresh your Spotlight database
1. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer X
2. Choose Tools > Refresh Spotlight Database
Clean your font caches
1. Quit all applications other than FontExplorer X 2. Choose Tools > Clean Application Font Caches (check all available checkboxes)
3. Choose Tools > Clean System Font Caches (requires restart)
Still after trying this multiple times, the errors continue and even get more random.
I have also tried this based on their feedback:
go to FONTEXPLORER X PRO -> PREFERENCES -> ADVANCED and make sure that "Automatically deactivate fonts which have not been activated by the system" is NOT set to never.
Then click on TOOLS and clean all font caches. Then reboot the system.
The auto-activation is using a new Apple technology (called Core Text), which unfortunately does not work correctly with some of the Adobe and Quark applications when keeping the fonts permanently activated. We are currently working on an update, and the next version of FontExplorer X Pro will fix this issue.
This has also not work. Can anyone help me?

Here is the official work-around for this problem.
1. Locate "FontExplorer X Pro.app" in Applications
2. Right-click on "FontExplorer X Pro.app" and select "Show Package Contents"
3. Navigate to /Contents/Helpers/
4. Double-click "FontExplorerXLauncher-3.app" or right-click and "Open" to launch it manually. This is needed only once, afterwards the plugins will work normally.
Please make sure you open the version with the "-3" suffix, the other one does not fix the problem.
