  • Greek and latin on text item

    Hello everybody!
I'm trying to write different types of languages on a single text item, like greek and latin. The type of font of the text item only accepts or latin or greek, but not latin and greek together.
Please, if anyone knows how do I get this tell me.
Is there a way convert unicode to character? Like chr(), but this function is ASCII to character.
    Thank you very much!

  • PDF Report generation and email it from a DB trigger

    Dear all
Is it possible to run a report in PDF format ad email it to some clients after a specific envent through Database Trigger. For example whenever a client makes an entry into order entry table (through entry form), a trigger should execute on Orders table, this trigger should execute or generate a PDF formatted report and finally mail it to Sales team?
    I'm using Oracle Database 10g. Rel.2 on Windows-XP.

    kamranpathan wrote:
Is it possible to run a report in PDF format ad email it to some clients after a specific envent through Database Trigger. No. Not the way you imagine.
A trigger is fired when? During the transaction. The transaction still is not committed and can be rolled back. So if you start doing notifications and what not in the trigger, and the transaction is rolled back, then that transaction never happened. But your notification code did. And the users have been informed incorrectly - about something that did not happen.
The same trigger can also be fired in the same transaction for the same row - more than once. This can happen in specific circumstances in Oracle, where basically Oracle itself does an undo of the transaction (trigger already fired) and then redo that transaction (trigger fire again).
So in such a case, your trigger will generate two notifications from the same trigger for the same event. Inside a transaction that still could be rolled back by the session owner.
The correct approach is not to perform the action in the trigger. It is to queue the action to be executed when the transaction is committed.
For example, the trigger is on the PRODUCTS table. When a new product is added, a notification needs to be send to customers that have selected to be informed of new product releases.
The first step is to write a package that performs this notification. The procedure that drives the notification processing, gets a product identifier as input and does the checks and notification.
After this package has been tested, it is implemented indirectly via a trigger on the PRODUCTS table. Instead of the trigger directly calling this package, the trigger needs to queue an action that will execute the notification package when the transaction is committed.
This can be done using DBMS_JOB. In the trigger, a job is submitted to execute that notification package for the current product ID. The job submission is part of the existing transaction. If the transaction is rolled back, so is the job and it is removed from the job queue. If the transaction is committed, the job is also committed to the job queue and executed.

  • Greek and latin fonts in the same document?

    Hello
May be this is not the right forum for such question, however.
For the moment I'm a student of Greek,( the language), and I just  would love to put down words  using different alphabets in the same document.
Using the  Character Map could be one tedious  option.
Two keyboards  used intermittently may be one.
The ideal solution would be a keyboard where the individual keys could change function.
I wonder what people in countries having such alphabets (Greek, Kyrrilic etc.) do when they do business with the English-speaking.
    Any ideas would be welcome.
    T.

In the Windows Control Panel, look in Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languges. Click on 'Change Keyboards', which brings up the 'Text Services and Input Languages' dialog.
In the 'General' tab, click on 'Add', to add the language of your choice. The Language Bar is a small control panel that appears on the desktop (you can also dock it in the Windows Taskbar), which allows you to easily switch keyboard layouts. Note, though, that the keyboard shortcuts  for the language Bar will steal the ALT key from Photoshop, so it's best not to use them.

  • Displaying both Hindi and Arabic numerals in Oracle 10g PDF report

    Hi….
Oracle experts told us to ask “In how many ways we can do it in oracle?” instead of asking “Can we do it in Oracle?” , I need ONE way to solve the following problem, it toke to much time and I don’t know if it can be solved !
    The problem:
Can we print in - Oracle 10g reports - a PDF report with BOTH Hindi and Arabic numerals?
Well, at design time everything is fine, you can use right-to-left, left-to-right and the print preview is showing BOTH Hindi/Arabic numerals fine, but when I tried to produce it as a PDF, unfortunately its not, means its either all Hindi or all Arabic numerals !
I tried everything possible, environment variables: NLS_LANG, REPORTS_BIDI_ALGORITHM, and REPORTS_ARABIC_NUMERLS, setting Digit substitution to Context in windows regional settings, uifont.ali is modified properly according to metalink note, but nothing solved this issue!
I noticed something, when I used the DESTYPE=printer and DESNAME=PDF995 (one of the PDF printers) , it worked fine , means the problem could be in the generic PDF generator of the Oracle reports server,
But even with PDF995 you still need to feed the file name, which is not suitable for multi-user environment that need the report to be displayed via web browser.
    Does anybody face this before?

  • Crystal Report 11 PDF report display error in IE9, Chrome and Firefox 4

    Hi,
We have developed a Java EE application using Crystal Server 11.0 (Copyright © 2004 Business Objects) to generate PDF reports. All working well for the past few years on IE6 and IE7 under Windows XP Pro until we started to upgrade to Windows 7 and IE9.
When trying to run the reports it will have the error message as follow:
File does not begin with '%PDF-%'.
        LocalEWH3zy-d@i4
I also tested on Chrome and Firefox 4 under Windows XP and it got the same error message. It seems like the PDF generated by the aged Crystal Server have some issues with the latest browsers.
    Thanks.
    -Rong

Hi Ted, thank you for your response, but the previous post is actually the result of IE6, which is working fine. I confused myself alone the way.
Here is the result of Chrome. It says "Information is needed before this report can be processed". The Content-Type is PDF, but the browser is looking for something before accepting this PDF file. The PDF file itself is not in the response stream.
    Thanks.

  • Report Title and Text Area issue when exported to pdf using Viewer

    Hi there,
We are using OracleBI Discoverer Version 10.1.2.55.26
We have reports that displays Report title containing the following
    - Report Title
    - Runt Date and Time
    - Page No
And text area which displays 'Last Page'
Following properties are set at the worksheet level using page setup
Report Title --> 'Print on every Page'
Text Area --> 'Print on last page'
The report when exported to PDF using Discoverer plus works fine and displays report title and text area as defeined.
But when we try to export the same report to pdf from Discoverer viewer, it displays
    - Report title on first page only.
    - text area on all pages
All our users accesses report using discoverer viewer so we cannot open discoverer plus to them.
Is there a solution which will enable us to export the report in pdf using discoverer viewer and displays the same output as discoverer plus.
Please let me know... If you have any questions then please feel free to ask.
Thanks in advance for your help...

but when opened on other os x machines some text is colored differently than it should be
Well, if typographic objects are colour managed, the colour appearance is dependent on the source ICC profile that describes the colourants in the typographic objects and the destination ICC profile that describes the colours the display is able to form and the RBC colourant combinations that will form those colours.
In general, typographic objects should have special treatment, since the expectation is not that typographic objects should be colour managed, but that typographic objects should simple be set to the maximum density of dark. On a display, that is R=0 G=0 B=0 and on a seperations device (a lithographic press) that is C=0 M=0 Y=0 K=100.
If for some reason typographic objects are colour managed, and if the ICC profiles for the displays are off by half a mile or more in relation to the actual state of the display system, then the colours will not be the same. On the other hand, if those displays are calibrated and characterized, then the colourants will be converted to form the same colours on the displays.

  • How to automatically attached multiple PDF reports to an e-mail and send

    Hello.
I have a requirement to generate multiple PDF reports using Oracle Reports 6i on the web, then automatically attach these PDF reports to an Outlook e-mail and then bring up the Outlook e-mail dialog box so the user can modify the e-mail (such as adding more attachments, adding a CC, BC, change the message text) before sending the e-mail. I want to be able to initiate all these tasks from Oracle webforms 6i in a three-tier environment.
I have already read various notes and solutions but none of them address all my requirements. Examples:
    1. Using OLE to interface with Outlook - but OLE does now work on the Web
    2. Using Java stored procedure or UTL_SMTP - but this does not bring-up an e-mail dialog box
    3. Using mailto: in HTML and web.show_document - but this does not allow you to attach a PDF file
Can you please advise on possible solutions to my requirements. Thank you very much.
    Regards,
    Armando

Here is a great resource for sending binaries.
    http://otn.oracle.com/sample_code/tech/pl_sql/htdocs/Utl_Smtp_Sample.html
You'll want to use utl_http to run each report with a destype=file and then have another procedure running to check to see when all of your reports have finished. After they are finished, you would run the stored procedure to get all of the binaries, attach them in an email and then send it.
If you want to concate all of the PDF files into one large file, you can do this with a Java stored procedure using iText.

  • Reports Builder and rwrun.exe hang on pdf creation

Hi, I'm having a problem with creating a pdf version of one of our reports. We have a HUGE report that gets generated once a month. I'm talking 50,000+ pages. That single document is not intended for human viewing; rather, it goes to a gigantic printer, and every few pages goes into an envelope to be snail-mailed to one of our clients. This is state government, so we can't require the recipients to receive the notices via email.
That probably is not a typical usage, but the old version, which was slightly more compact at 35,000 pages, has always worked properly. It's only this expanded version that has given us problems. When running from both Reports Builder (generate to file) and from the command line, the report never seems to complete. When running from Reports Builder, it completes the query and the counter for number of pages climbs rapidly, but somewhere close to the end, it just stops. From the command line, I never get a prompt back. (I should add that running the report from Reports Builder via the "Run Paper Layout" button works properly, and we're able to skip to the end to see all the data; it's just the pdf part that's failing.) The pdf report is partially created in the cache directory each time, but it isn't complete, and acrobat won't open it.
This occurred with Report Builder 9.0.2.0.3. I then downloaded the newest 10g version (10.1.2.0.2) and received similar results. The only difference is that the report in the 10g cache directory actually appears to be complete. However, the app still never returns back and must be killed.
Subsequent to all this, I learned of the existence of the trace file in the logs dir, so I re-ran both versions of rwrun.exe from the command line. Here are the results from the trace file:
    9i:

Can anyone help? An alternative would be to split up the report into multiple files so that there are less pages, but we would prefer to avoid that, if possible. I'll post something to metalink shortly.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
I had the same problem to generate it for 10000 employes salary slip but i got the solution.Try out the foolowing method.
    1) Create a folder in the D or c drive called "TEMP"
    2) change the settings in the regedit (reports_tmp=<drive>:/temp string)
    3) similarly in the environment varaibles (go to mycomputer->proerpties->advanced tab->environmentvariables) change the variable temp and temp to <drive>:/temp
because normaly temp folders exist in the c:\document\settings so create it outside
    also pass the parameter pdfcomp=0.
    4) If u r using server then go to <oraclehome>/reports/<server>.conf file
    edit the following properties
    <property name="cacheSize" value="500"/>
    <!--property name="cacheDir" value="your cache directory"/-->
    <property name="maxCacheFileNumber" value="10000"/>
here in my case it will hold 500 mb or 10000 files.
here u can set it for 50000 files or more.
