Have set up the proxy parameters (to avoid any firewall problems with the Web Services and RSS data set reports) in the xmlpserverstart.bat file or the oc4j.cmd file as per your installation.
Modify the following line, which defines JAVA_HOME. (Observe the proxy parameters in bold.):

when i tried to login to bi publisher with Administrator/Administrator i have observed that i cannot view admin page and also i can view shared folders and my folders but can't view the data in side the folders it is not diaplayed why???

Unfortunately there is no way to stop a job once it is being executed. Yes as you read, it is not possible once job has started.
Same thing applies for running queries.
Once queries are sent to the DB BIP loses control over them. The message you see (if any) "Click Here to Cancel" does not stop any query
it is just a message.
I guess you will have to stop/kill the process in your DB

Performing a specific calculation in a pivot table with BI Publisher 10g

I am using BI Publisher 10g and new on it and I need to integrate a specific calculation measure in a pivot table
The logic uses two measures that already exist in the report (Demand & PAB) and the required calculation is represented by a new measure/row (Calculated). The pivot time is in weeks
Week w0     w1     w2     w3     w4     w5 .....
Demand     d(w0)     d(w1)     d(w2)     d(w3)     d(w4)     d(w5) .....
PAB     p(w0)     p(w1)     p(w2)     p(w3)     p(w4)     p(w5) .....
Calculated     c(w0)     c(w1)     ....     ....     ....     c(w5) .....
If p(w0) < d(w1) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / d(w1)
If not
If p(w0) < d(w1) + d(w2) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / ( d(w1) + d(w2) ) * 2
If not
If p(w0) < d(w1) + d(w2) + d(w3) --> then c(w0) = p(w0) / ( (dw1) + d(w2) + d(w3 ) ) * 3
If not
etc .... Same logics apply for c(w1) and so on
Is such calculation logic achievable in Bi Publisher ? If yes, how would you do it ?

Can you use the logic that you specified in the data model (query) to generate the required data and then use it in the pivot table? That would be the easiest way to do it. Tweaking the code to include the conditional logic/calculated measures is not going to be straightforward..

Oracle 11g XE not working with oracle BI publisher 10g after enabling ACL

Hello,
I previously work with oracle 10gXE and Oracle BI publisher 10g and it work fine. now i install oracle 11g XE and try to configure it with oracle Bi Publlisher, it show this error
"ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1324 ORA-12570: TNS:packet reader failure" after runing the ACL package to neable network service.
on the database.
Please can any body tell be why this is not working. Tanx.

You'll need to add the apex engine owner to the ACL (Access Control List). Depending on your version of apex the user name varies. i.e. 4.0 is APEX_040000

Mandatory parameter in Oracle BI Publisher 10g

Can we define a parameter to be mandatory so that user needs to enter some value for it in Oracle BI Publisher 10g? If yes how do we do that?

No option is provided for such action.
If you really want the user to enter a value then you need to capture the NULL value from parameter and pass it to template and display a text message accordingly for this case.

BI Publisher 10g. How to leave only one button Export, in the report?

I'm working with Oracle BI Publisher 10g.
Tell me please how to solve the following problem!
I already have created the report, and when you view it, you can choose the format of its presentation, for example (pdf, html, ...).
You can also see these buttons : View, Analyzer, Export, ...
How can I make the report links panel of the report show only "Export" button?
I also know that when you click the Edit button and selecting a report, you can remove the checkmark from the following properties:
1) Show controls
2) Disable access to the client from Analyzer for Excel.
Then we will see in the first case that the entire selection panel has disappeared, while in the latter case, the off button Analyzer for Excel (in the presentation layer).
And if you choose to layouts-> template, you can specify output formats, for example (pdf, html, ...).

I guess, you are looking for option in BIP enterprise itself, so
making the user as different roles , you can suppress it.

if you going to view the report outside of this interface, e can see alternative solutions.

Timeout Publisher 10g

We have some problems with BI Publisher.
After we select more than 500 rows on a report, then the publisher stops respondig and a timeout is shown, any idea?

It cannot be 10.4.0.1 as there is no such BIP version.
1. Could you please double check with your customer?
It could be 10.1.3.4.1
2. Is it stand alone or integrated with BIEE?
3. We need to know the time it takes for BIP to return the results until the pipe is broken message appears.
You have to be precise with your answers otherwise we will be wasting our time and effort to help you.
Only reason I can think of pipe broken is:
The query was not resolved / or did not return with row within the timeout set for the HTTP server. For instance
if your HTTP server has a timeout of 15 minutes and if the query takes 16 minutes then HTTP session will stop.
That is why I asked for how long it takes until you get the error.
4. Is this a development or production environment
5. Latest BI Publisher patch is 11846804 (you have to download it from Oracle Support site).
6. If you are using Firefox try using FIREBUG. This plug-in will help you monitor the HTTP session between BI Publisher and the DB.

BI Publisher 10g - Limit to the size of the data model?

Hello,
We are using OBIEE 10g 10.1.3.4.1 in our organization and have a problem when working on a large report in BI Publisher. It seems that once our data model gets large enough, we are no longer able to edit the report. When we click on the Edit link to load the report editor, the side menu that lists the data model, parameters, bursting, etc does not load, preventing us from making any changes to the report.
At first we thought it was a timeout issue and changed the following:
$J2EE_HOME/applications/xmlpserver/xmlpserver/js/XDOReportModel.js
Property name : XDOReportModel.TIMEOUTMSEC
set value in Milli seconds as " XDOReportModel.TIMEOUTMSEC = 15000
After making the change and restarting the services, it did not help. Is there a different place for the timeout of loading the report editor? What about some kind of cap to the size of the data model? We have one large data template that is used to generate a report. I tried breaking the large data set into multiple, smaller data sets (still using data tempalte) and that didn't seem to help any. Is there a limit the size of the data model BI Publisher can return?

Hello,
I think you should create a recordStore with RMS and use it like a string array. You can store huge amount of data and the time access when request data from recordStore is very similar as if it is store on the RAM memory with recent devices.
And if it is not persistent data you can delete the recordStore when closing the midlet.

Unable to create a report in bi publisher 10g

Hi All,
Unable to create a report in bi publisher. When we tried to create a report abcd, then it is giving the below error.
Operation failed: /abcd/abcd.xdo.
When we tried to create a report with the existing name, it is saying
An object with the same name already exists: /crm/crm.xdo
I can say this is not any permissions problem, I have logged inwith Administrator user.

In fact, I have an xml file that looks like this:

Passing multiple values as parameters in BI Publisher 10g

Hi All,
We have a template in which we pass a USERID (Ex: 10000) as paramaeter. Then the report will generated.
Now, we have a requirement that we will pass number of USERIDs i.e. for example
we will pass two parameters +"From USERID"+ (Ex: 1000) and +"To User ID"+ (Ex: 2000). Then the report should generate for all the USERIDs from 1000 to 2000.
or is there any way to achieve this..??

I guess you would need two parameters to achieve this filtering. Are you going to provide a list of values to choose from or is it going to be a text field?
Either way, you can add the filter to your data model sql query to bring back the relevant data set.
Add this to your query, assuming your parameters are named From_Userid and To_Userid
where USERID between :From_Userid and :To_Userid
or you could use this: where USERID >= :From_Userid and USERID <= :To_Userid
Please let me know if I misunderstood your question.. When you refer to the template, is it a 'data template' you are referring to or are you trying to filter data within your RTF template?

Hyperlink to another bi publisher report in 10g

I am using Bi Publisher 10g.
I want to build a bi publisher report that makes a link to another bi publisher report. I created a Hyperlink in my template and it works fine, however the url that I am using is the full path to the xdo resource and their parameters, that means my url is http://myserver:myport/xmlpserver/~Myuser/MyReport/MyReport.xdo?parameter1={parameter1}&parameter2={parameter2}. The problem is that I want to call my report from dashboard and then when I follow the link the publisher link is opened and it worked fine but I want to see the output in the same window or other window but I don't want to see the complete Bi Publisher product.
How can I build the hyperlink in order to see the detail report on a new window but without calling the complete Bi Publisher product?
