    I believe there is some problem with the BI Server security. Try changing the security to XDO in xmlp-server-config.xml file. I have blogged about it here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/06/oracle-bi-publisher-and-bi-ee-invisible-admin-tab/. Though the blog entry was for some other issue but this should help you in changing the security.
    Thanks,

  • Integrating Oracle BI Publisher with Oracle Single Sign-on security.

    I am trying to integrate BI Publisher with Oracle Single Sign-on running on a different machine.
    The BI Publisher is installed with an Oracle application server 10.3.1 (includes a HTTP server). These are the steps I followed:
    1) Registered BI publisher as a partner application in the Oracle SSO admin console which generated a single sign-off url.
    2) Made the required modifications in the mod_osso.xml config file.
    3) On the BI publisher admin page went to the securities tab and opted the SSO security and entered the single sign-off url generated in the previous step.
    4) Restarted the Oracle ID mgt infrastructure and the BI pub server.
    The BI pub login is not getting redirected to the SSO page.
    Please let me know as what is that I am missing. I've been cracking my head with this for quite long - any help will be highly appreciated.

    APEX is only using BI Publisher to transform the XML data of your report and the template you provide into PDF, Word or Excel. For this, APEX sends the XML data and the template to BI Publisher, and BI Publisher sends back to completed document. So there's nothing stored in BI Publisher, all templates, report definitions, etc are stored in the APEX schema. This has the advantage that you can reference item values and other information in your print documents, and it also ensures that you don't have to access the database again from within BI Publisher, i.e. you don't need to communicate any authentication information to BI Publisher.
    Of course BI Publisher itself also provide the ability to store reports and to store templates. But those are not accessible from APEX through the built-in integration. You can however use the same templates you use for BI Publisher directly on load them into APEX for use there.
    Lastly, if you want to use and print reports in both BI Publisher and your APEX applications, you can do that through web services, take a look at Tyler Muth's BLOG for more information on this topic:
    http://tylermuth.wordpress.com/2008/03/31/call-bi-publisher-web-services-from-apex/

  • Problem calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem in calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports.
    Basically, I'm trying to customise Dunning Letter program. The program which is submitted calls another program. I have customised the second program and added a call to a stored procedure which in turn calls XML Report Publisher.I have created a template and attached it to the second program as well.
    The procedure code is as follows.
    v_request_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST(application => 'AR'
    ,program => 'ARDLP_NON_SRS'
    ,description => 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate'
    ,sub_request => FALSE
    l_status := fnd_concurrent.WAIT_FOR_REQUEST
    ( REQUEST_ID => v_request_id,
    INTERVAL => 15,
    MAX_WAIT => 180,
    PHASE => l_phase,
    STATUS => l_status_code,
    DEV_PHASE => l_dev_phase,
    DEV_STATUS => l_dev_status,
    MESSAGE => l_message );
    v_xml_req_id := FND_REQUEST.submit_request(application => 'XDO',
    program => 'XDOREPPB',
              argument1 => v_request_id,
    argument2 => 'FLS DE AR Dunning Letter Print - German',
    argument3 => 603, -- changed 665 -- was 551,
    argument4     => NULL,
    argument5 => 'N',
    argument6     => 'RTF',
              argument7     => 'PDF');
    Now, there are two problems I'm facing...
    1. when the second program('Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate') gets called it executes this procedure ... logically the 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' should get called twice ... second time from the procedure. Its getting called multiple times .. as many as 15 - 20 times.
    2. The Xml Report Publisher program ultimately gets called but its erroring out with the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: No corresponding LOB data found :SELECT L.FILE_DATA FILE_DATA, DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(L.FILE_DATA) FILE_LENGTH, L.LANGUAGE LANGUAGE, L.TERRITORY TERRITORY, B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE DEFAULT_LANGUAGE, B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY DEFAULT_TERRITORY,B.TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.START_DATE START_DATE, B.END_DATE END_DATE, B.TEMPLATE_STATUS TEMPLATE_STATUS, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.DS_APP_SHORT_NAME DS_APP_SHORT_NAME, B.DATA_SOURCE_CODE DATA_SOURCE_CODE, L.LOB_TYPE LOB_TYPE FROM XDO_LOBS L, XDO_TEMPLATES_B B WHERE (L.LOB_TYPE = 'TEMPLATE' OR L.LOB_TYPE = 'MLS_TEMPLATE') AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME= :1 AND L.LOB_CODE = :2 AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME = B.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME AND L.LOB_CODE = B.TEMPLATE_CODE AND ( (L.LANGUAGE = :3 AND L.TERRITORY = :4 ) OR (L.LANGUAGE = :5 AND L.TERRITORY = :6) OR (L.LANGUAGE= B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE AND L.TERRITORY= B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY ) )
    I have checked from database that the XDO_LOBS/ XDO_TEMPLATES_B table has corresponding registration data.
    I don't know what's creating the problem.
    If anyone has customised the Dunning Letter program before or having any idea about this problem, please help me out ..
    Thanks

    satrajit,

  • Oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Bad character (1e)

    Hi,
    I am using BI Publisher shipped with Oracle EBS R12 (I think it is BIP 5.6.3).
    I have made a specific XSL-TEXT layout file to generate some output files in a proprietary format (for label printing). Everything is working like a charm so far.
    However now I want to put ASCII control characters into my output file, e.g. char 30 / RS / Record Separator (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C0_and_C1_control_codes). I know that XML is not really made for some of those control characters, but well...
    I have something like this in my XSLT layout file:
    <xsl:output method="text" media-type="text/plain" indent="no" encoding="iso-8859-1" />
    <xsl:text>& #30;</xsl:text>
    ...When I run it in BIP I get following error message in the OPP logfile:
    oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XMLParseException: Bad character (1e).
    I found Metalink note 745451.1 stating that patch 7687414 should fix the problem. We have this patch installed (comes with R12.1.3) but the issue is still there.
    Does anyone have ideas or experience with this? I know that I should not use non-supported characters in XML, but that would mean that BIP has no purpose anymore for this case and I have to find another solution from someone else or develop my own program.
    Thanks in advance,
    David.

    Does anyone have an idea? Anyone experience with generating binary data via BIP maybe?

    Hello,
    I am also facing the same error. Flow is
    1. I create XML file using View object. XML file looks like
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <EmpVO>
    <EmpVORow>
    <EmployeeId>100</EmployeeId>
    <FirstName>Steven</FirstName>
    <LastName>King</LastName>
    <Email>SKING</Email>
    <PhoneNumber>515.123.4567</PhoneNumber>
    <HireDate>1987-06-17</HireDate>
    <JobId>AD_PRES</JobId>
    <Salary>24000</Salary>
    <DepartmentId>90</DepartmentId>
    </EmpVORow>
    </EmpVO>
    2. I have the following code to generate PDF report using XML Publisher:
    InputStream in = getXMLFile();
    FOProcessor processor = new FOProcessor();
    processor.setData(in);
    RTFProcessor rtfPro = new RTFProcessor("c:\\TemplateBuilder.rtf");
    rtfPro.setOutput("C:\\Dir D\\BIPub\\BiPub\\emp.xsl");
    rtfPro.process();
    processor.setTemplate("C:\\Dir D\\BIPub\\BiPub\\emp.xsl");
    processor.setOutput("C:\\Dir D\\BIPub\\BiPub\\emp.pdf");
    processor.setOutputFormat(FOProcessor.FORMAT_PDF);
    processor.generate();
    3.If I set processor.setData("c:\\emp.xml") then it works fine. but if I set like processor.setData(InputStream) I get the following error :
    [071309_110935627][oracle.apps.xdo.common.xml.XSLTWrapper][EXCEPTION] XSL error:
    <Line 1, Column 1>: XML-20108: (Fatal Error) Start of root element expected.
    Thanks you in advance.

    Hi Vetsrini, Thank you for your response.
    1. I checked the values in the xml and found no nulls. I see all 0 or non-zero numbers.
    2. Following MetaLink Doc ID 362496.1, I find:
    - PDF Producer: PDF file properties shows PDF Producer "Oracle XML Publisher 5.6.3"
    - AD_BUGS SQL: The SQL results show that I have the 5.6.3 patch, but the SQL in the Doc only includes patch numbers up to 5.6.3. I'm not sure how I can find out the patch numbers of more recent patches, to see if i have those.
    - File version of the MetaInfo.class: $Header MetaInfo.java 115.28 2006/08/17 01:24:59 bgkim noship $
    What is the latest XDO patch? I can't find anything newer than what I have in MetaLink, but I probably am missing something...

  • Oracle Software Security Assurance Survey Now Available!

    Hi, this is Eric Maurice.
    Oracle and the Independent Oracle User Group (IOUG) have recently launched a security assurance survey. The purpose of this survey is to gather feedback from as many organizations as possible about their security patching practices and to identify which security assurance topics are most relevant to Oracle customers.
    The IOUG participates in Oracle's Security Customer Advisory Council and has worked with Oracle Global Product Security on this survey. The survey will provide meaningful feedback to Oracle about its security programs. For example, this iteration of the survey provides respondents with an opportunity to give feedback about Patch Set Updates (PSUs are a recently introduced type of patches which includes security and non-security fixes, and is available on the day the CPU is published). This survey also provides respondents with a chance to comment on the CPU documentation, provide feedback on how Oracle products are installed by default, etc.
    Survey responses will be kept confidential, and the results will be analyzed jointly by Oracle and IOUG to evaluate Oracle's security assurance practices. The survey is hosted by IOUG's Enterprise Best Practices Special Interest Group (SIG) at http://enterprisesig.oracle.ioug.org/ (free SIG membership is required to access the survey).
    I highly encourage all of you to voice your opinion with this survey!

    Thanks for sharing this.

    "" oracle.xdo.XDOException: oracle.xdo.XDOException: java.rmi.RemoteException: QM3V3HLV: Invalid path (2) -- ""
    When i googled it, I got that its invalid path, But i pulled another four reports from the same path but they came up finely with out any issue.
    Though i changed the location, the same thing is coming up with another report which i need it too..
    Please let me know the answer.,.,
    Regards

    Hi,
    I had earlier faced similar kind of issue when using Siebel system. It was identified as a bug and Oracle released a patch for it. This happens when OBI is integrated with another system and might be because of Multi Lingual Implementations. Special Characters in the path is what i mean. For my case BUG:13805145 helped me. Check this Oracle Document [ID 1493798.1] as well for more information.
    I suggest to open an SR with oracle it might be a bug as well.
    Let me know if this helped.
    Regards,

  • INTEGRATING PUBLISHER WITH OBI EE SECURITY USING LDAP

    Hi !
    Just learned about how integrating BI Publisher with OBI EE Security had to be set. (SA SYSTEM blah blah blah)
    My question is : what if my OBI EE security is already based on LDAP server ? How do I manually insert user logon in SA_USER as I'm supposed to do ? No way...any turnaround ? Should I base my BI PUB security on the LDAP server ?
    Thanks in advance
    Yannis

    Hi,
    I too have the same question.
    Could you please let us know whether using "Oracle BI server" security model in BIP would address the SSO between Oracle BI and BI Publisher when BI uses LDAP authentication?
    Also I am facing some issues in setting up BI security in BIP.
    The issue is that, when logged into BIP as Administartor, Roles and Permissions tab of Admin displays only two roles namely "Administrator" and "XMLP_TEMPLATE_ONLINE".
    SA subject area is also set.
    Could you please let me know your thoughts on the same?
    Thanks in Advance.
