BI Publisher Desktop Permission Issues

I'm currently running BI Publisher Desktop v11.1.1.6 in a Windows XP environment with Microsoft Word 2007 and having issues using the BI Publisher add in for MS Word.
I went through the installation logged in as an administrator, and could access the add-in perfectly fine; however when I went to utilize the add-in on my non-administrator account, the BI Publisher tab was missing from Word. I've attempted to give full permissions on the installation directory to all authenticated users, I've looked through the add-ins to see if BI Publisher was hiding there and just not enabled, I've gone through macro/trust center settings... all to no avail.
I guess my question is can you utilize BI Publisher Desktop as a non-administrator? Or are you required to have administrator rights on your PC to use the tool?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can provide further clarification, please let me know.

We need to distribute oracle bi publisher desktop 10.1.33 to several clients.
Since we use tivoli, we need silent installation.
However even when creating silent.iss for installation and uninstallation the setup doesn't complete on the clients. instead we receive error code -5.
Our installation routine first checks for installed jre and MS .net framework 2.0, in case missing, it will be intstalled before calling the setup.exe
Any documentation for silent installation / uninstallation for this product ?

  • PeopleSoft XML Publisher Desktop installation issue

    Hi,
    I've tried to install the XML publisher desktop desing helper.
    I've installed it without error. But when i open the Office word program, it didn't show up the Template Builder menu on office tool bar.
    I've tried to do the following:
    1. Set the trust center setting in word option, Marco is all enabled, and the VBA project is checked.
    2. Close the Microsfot program, IE, Word, etc.
    3. Close the MSN Messager program
    4. Uninstall the MSN Live
    5. Then I re-run the installation file of XMLp several times to re-install it.
    After that, i still can not find any menu tool bar named "Templdate Builder" in word program.
    During the installation, there's no error, the install process is smoothly ended, but in the word program there's no menu for Template Builder.
    The version of Microsoft Word is 2007, and the version of XMLp Design helper for Word is 5.6.2, and the Java JRE version is 1.6.07.
    Please help on figuring this!
    Thanks,
    Saxon SI

    Hi:
    Check for Add-Ins in Word Options. Make sure that TemplateBuilder.dot is active; and look for 'Add-Ins' menu on your document. XML Publisher menus will be visible on that tab.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sameer.

  • XML Publisher Desktop Db connect SQL Server Host:Port:Sid

    Brand new to XML Publisher. Set up XML Publisher Enterprise environment to work with SQL Server 2005 using both MS 2000 & 2005 JDBC drivers, so far no problem.
    However the XML Publisher Desktop Report Wizard will not connect to SQL Server 2005 using either MS 2000 & 2005 JDBC drivers. I provide the same data source name, user and pw that I use in the XML Publisher Enterprise environment but it is the 4th piece of information - the database portion (Host:Port:Sid) that I am having trouble with. SID is an Oracle invention not used in the SQL Server world. I have tried various combinations of the database string without sucess.
    Perhaps the XML Publisher Desktop does not work with SQL Server. Does anyone know how to use XML Publisher Desktop to create templates that will work with MS SQL Server?
    Thank you.
    BG...

    Shaun,
    Thanks for you comments. I belive I now have enough to use the HSGC-ODBC technique to make the template and then re-edit it to make it work with the original JDBC connection.
    That said, "Using ODBC-JDBC bridge connection is really poor in performance." I, more than anyone on the planet am aware of this issue and more.
    Being new to XMLPublisher I thought that having a JDBC connection to a SQL Server from XMLP Enterprise led me to beleive that the XMLP Desktop template creation tool would also work. "*** Pity the fool ***" for thinking that! (Thank-you Mr. T!!! <grin>).
    Because I had to engage a 'heterogeneous connectivity" solution to this problem indicates that the product is half-baked. That's not to say that it is not capable.
    Rushing software products to market quickly creates products that make the rest of us jump through hoops. I resent that!!! I have more import things to do than waste time!
    I demand more of a trusted vendor, do you? I have tortured myself with Oracle products thinking they were ready since the early nineties.
    Look we are in a "heterogeneous universe" and if the product pretends to work with "heterogeneous databases" on the Enterprise side than it damn well aught to work with them on the Desktop side. That's my opinion.
    Attention OTN: I am back!!!
    Justin, this needs to be fixed.
    Thanks!

    I had a similar error which when I searched, came up with this thread.
    My issue was resolved after I discovered that my RTF template was not really RTF. It was sill in MS Word DOC format. This was discovered by reviewing two templates in NOTEPAD. The MS-DOC files have a lot of "special" characters in them. My RTF was not really RTF.
    After doing a SAVE AS - RTF format, then the preview worked as expected.

  • Permission issues accross schemas to load XMLTYPE column - structured storage

    Hi,
    We have a table in BIUSER schema this table is object-realtionally stored with XMLs. When we are trying to load receords from ETLUSER schema we are getting the error as
    Record 1: Rejected - Error on table "BIUSER"."PWAYWORKFILE_TABLE".
    ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
    Heres the oracle installation details
    Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
    PL/SQL Release 11.2.0.3.0 - Production
    "CORE 11.2.0.3.0 Production"
    All the records are moving to the bad file, whereas the same load happens normally in its own schema i.e. BIUSER
    Suspecting this as permission issues we have already given the permission to the table sysnonym as given below in the registration script.
    We googled and found few things about ACLs that we are not sure of , its that is the issue please let us know if this table can be created and loaded from different schema
    Heres the table creation and registration script

    Regards,
    Arghyadip

    Hi MarcoGralike,
    I have finally acquired a sample schema and xmls to reproduce the errors that i am getting even after acquiring XDBADMIN privilege and registering my schema as GLOBAL.
    Here's the problem i am facing, whenever i intend to store the PublisherList (publisher.xsd) out of line while registration i am running into insufficient privilege issues even if i have the schema registered using (LOCAL => FALSE), whereas it runs smooth in BIUSER and if i dont set it out of line it works in ETLUSER as well.
    Here are the 2 XSD files
    books.xsd   --- this is the root element
    <xs:schema  xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xdb="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb"  version="1.0" xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true">
      <xs:include schemaLocation="publisher.xsd"/>
      <xs:element name="books" type="bookType"/>
      <xs:complexType name="bookType" abstract="true">
        <xs:sequence>
        <xs:element name="author" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
        <xs:element name="title" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
        <xs:element name="genre" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
        <xs:element ref="PublisherList" minOccurs="0"/>
       </xs:sequence>
       </xs:complexType>
    </xs:schema>
    publisher.xsd -- this is a child elelment which in my actual scenario is so big that i must keep it out of line during registration
    <xs:schema  xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xdb="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb"  version="1.0" xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true">
      <xs:element name="PublisherList" type="PublisherListType"/>
      <xs:complexType name="PublisherListType">
        <xs:sequence>
        <xs:element name="Name" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
        <xs:element name="Office" type="xs:string" minOccurs="0"/>
       </xs:sequence>
       </xs:complexType>
    </xs:schema>
    Here's the sample XML
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <books xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
          <author>Writer</author>
          <title>The First Book</title>

  • Error opening pdf from published desktop

    Citrix XenApp 5
    Windows 2003
    Adobe Reader 9 (Swedish version)
    We do have the following issue:
    On a published desktop opened from the webinterface you are unable to open a pdf file from an Intranet site. It doesn't matter if you try it with an admin account or a normal user account. The pdf is trying to open in a new browser window and an error occurs.
    EM: There was a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. Quit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again.
    When closing the error and browser window and click the pdf link on the site again, it opens in a new browser window.
    Uncheck "display pdf in browser" in Adobe Reader is not an option for the customer.
    When copying the shortcut to the pdf and paste it in a browser window it opens.
    When connecting to the server with an admin account or a normal user account using RDP the issue does not occur. However it seems to be a Citrix issue and I have posted it on the Citrix forum, I post it here as well in the hope to get this solved..

    Check the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Exe
    Here check the default value. On an english machine, it has to be set to:
    "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe"
    If you installed Adobe reader to a different directory, enter the path where "AcroRd32.exe" is to be found.

  • Java Development BI Publisher Desktop 10.1.3.2 vs. XMLP562 library

    Hi,
    I've created an RTF template with BI Publisher Desktop, that's working quite fine running the preview. In this template I've charts and cross tables.
    Using this RTF template in JDeveloper with the API of XMLP562 I'm getting errors:
    It seems that the following error message depends on the cros table, because without it this error don't come up:

    I don't understand why there's this NumberFormatException because it worked fine in BI Publisher Desktop with the same data. Also value in xml file is not 0,178, it's 0.178 (there's a point as decimal separator not a comma), so NumberFormat should be no problem. Also in the preview from BI Publisher Desktop the decimal separator is a point .
    Do you think it is a problem of using the jars of the older version?
    Thanks

  • BI Publisher Desktop Problem

    Hi,
    I installed BI Publisher Desktop 11.1.1.5 on a Windows 7 PC with Office 2007.
    After installing it I encountered a series of issues, including the "macro not found" one, the "'Compile error in hidden module" one and also when clicking on some icons on the toolbar, nothing would happen.
    I managed to solve these issues by trying the following solutions I found browsing this forum:
    1)
    1. Open the command prompt.
    2. Navigate Document and Settings
    3. C:\Documents and Settings>del /S /A:H /A:-H *.EXD (and press enter key)
    2)
    1. Uninstalling the BI Publisher add-in.
    2. Uninstalling Miscrosoft Office
    3. RE-installing Office and BIP Desktop again
    3)
    Using the Regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX" (I have a 64bit system) in the command prompt.
    After trying the three solutions above, I managed to solve the issues... briefly. Now my BIP Add in dissapeared completely from my Microsoft Word toolbar! I tried again the 3 solutions above with no luck.
    Any ideas how I can solve this?
    Thanks!

    Can you please check the disabled items in word option?
    File - Option - Add-Ins - Manage (look at the bottom) - Disabled Items (LOV) - Enable.
    Cheers,
    ND

  • BI Publisher Desktop in Word 2010 - add-in active but no menu or toolbar

    I have installed BI Publisher Desktop. In Word 2010, I can see the add-in is active.
    But i do not see the familiar BI Publisher menu items or toolbar items. I am just getting used to Word2010 and the new ribbon toolbar concept. (I formerly used BI Publisher on Word 2003.)
    So i don't think i'm blind... but I don't see the BI Publisher custom menu/toolbar items.
    Has anyone experienced this? Anyone know what i have to do to get this working?

    Again, it is not Oracle certified. This means you are on your own if you find product issues and Oracle Support
    will not be able to help you (including notes or patches).
    The fact that an Oracle product is not certified does not mean the product will not work (it may work as in the case of Perky) it simply means Oracle has not carried out a complete test of the product with the referred product version.
