BI Publisher in OBIEE 11G

Hi
I have few doubts in regard to BI Publisher in OBIEE 11G. Here they goes
1) Is it required to install BI Publisher separately or is it already provided integrated in fusion middleware in OBIEE 11G.
2) What is the process to integrate BI Publisher with OBIEE 11G.
Please help by providing answers to the above queries.

I may be missing something, but BI Publisher Enterprise is installed at the same time as when you install BIEE on the server. You wouldn't install BI Publisher Desktop on that server. You can use BI Publisher Desktop locally to create templates for use in BI Publisher Enterprise.
I'm much more familiar with XML (BI) Publisher as part of Oracle Apps moreso than BIEE, so I could be wrong in my assessment.

Publisher BI Publisher with OBIEE 11g start up

Hi ,
Can anyone guide me on logging in to BI Publisher from OBIEE 11g Home .
I tried login with my OBIEE administrator credentials (weblogic) , but its saying invalid login.
It seems , somthing needs to be done on the user (roles , policies) .Currently its in BIAdministrators group.

Error 500--Internal Server Error when using BI Publisher within OBIEE 11g

I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2BP1 on a Linux x86-64 server and it has been working just fine. We recently started playing around with the BI Publisher component of that installation and every time i go to http://hostname:port/xmlpserver and try to log in with an Administrator username and password, the following error shows up:
Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
*10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error*
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
I have looked around for solutions and tried a couple of them (created a new Admin user in Weblogic Console and checked the opmnctl status) and they did not help. I'm looking for an answer other than upgrade to the latest and greatest

Do you have any SSO setup as that might be preventing the ability of the user to log into BI Publisher, hence the Internal 500 error message.
Are you using FMW security model for BIP and OBIPS integration which is by default. Check the xmlp-server-config.xml file from the repository [\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\clients\bipublisher\repository\Admin\Configuration\xmlp-server-config.xml] and see what your security model is pointing to?
Also what happens when you try to access from Administration>BI Publisher >Manager BI Publisher ?

Is there a way to deny access to BI Publisher in OBIEE 11g?

In 11g, the New button in Answers ists all of the types of objects that a user can create. I've figured out which of the privileges controls the display of each of those options, EXCEPT for all of the options under the Published Reporting category. How can we turn on/off access to those 5 objects (essentially, grant or deny access to the BI Publisher options)?

I figured out the answer about 3 minutes after posting the question.
All of the existing Application Roles are associated with Application Policies that allow access to BI Publisher. By creating a new Application Policy and an associated Role, I can accomplish my goal.

I want to display employee profile picture in dashboard, the image data was saved as blob/clob image.

actually im not using EBS, im just using publisher with OBIEE 11g.
if explain step by step what you wrote first replay-
Let i have a table with one BLOB column.
1) first load blob data to my table
2) create data model from oracle publisher.
3) change the xdm file with above tagline , my xdm file is in below link-
C:\mw_bi_home\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent\coreapplication_obips1\catalog\SampleAppLite\root\shared\zia%2exdm
i don't know is that right step? because if i re-open the xdm file after change by your given tagline its shows error.
I will grateful to you please give me a little explanation which file i can put the following tagline.

Scheduling a report in OBIEE 11g and BI Publisher

HI Everyone,
I have a report. Now i want to schedule this report on monday, tuesday for first week, and monday , tuesday, wednesday for second week , monday, tuesday, wednesday for third week.... etc., like this i want to schedule. Can anyone please help me how This i have to implement for a report in OBIEE 11g, And another report , i have to schedule in the same manner in BI Publisher. Please help me out .,.,.,.

I dint get the proper answer to schedule a report which i want it exactly. Let me explain clearly.., Take a month of march, if a schedule a report, it has to schedule like, iin 1st week of march it has to deliver for first two days, in 2nd week, it has to deliver for first three days etc.,.,.,.

Is there a way to deny access to BI Publisher -Report job in OBIEE 11g?

Thank you all for the helpful information in the posts. I am trying to disable or not to display Report job under published reporting in OBIEE 11g. Could any one of you you please help me with the steps?
My issue:
I am pretty new to OBIEE and we are using OBIEE 11g when the user clicks on the new drop down, i am trying to disable or turnoff Report job under published reporting for a user group. I tried to find the relevant components for published reporting to deny access to report job under manage privileges but no luck i couldn't find any and i realized that i should be looking into Manage Bi publisher roles and responsibilities but i cannot remove the roles. Please help me with the steps and the options where i need to go and what i should do to not to display the report job. Your help is greatly appreciated, if i am not clear please let me know i will try to rephrase or explain it better
FYI
We are using LDAP for user creation and we have created a new group and created a test user belongs to that group and that user should not see the Report job. When i am seeing the users roles and responsibilities it is also showing me other two roles authenticated user role and BI consumer role for the test user, when i asked the admin guy dealing with LDAP he said he only associated the user with that only new group. Please advice

In EM, go to Weblogic Domain, right click on bifoundation_domain and on the Security menu choose Application Policies.
Set Application Stripe to obi and click the blue arrow search button.
Highlight BIConsumer and click Edit.
Under Permissions locate Resource Name oracle.bi.publisher.scheduleReport. Highlight this and click Delete...
Click OK (top right corner).
Now log your user out of OBIEE and back in again, and the option should have disappeared from their New menu.

Unable to find Admin tab in OBIEE 11G BI Publisher

i am unable to find the Administrator tab in OBIEE 11G BI Publisher. even if i login through the administrator privileges.
can some one provide solution for this how to enable the Administration tab in BI Publisher.

Giving access to users to run BI Publisher reports in Obiee 11G

Hello Experts,
I am trying to give permission to couple of user groups to run the BI publisher reports i have created in Obiee 11g analytics. when they try to run them they error out contact administrator and i have admin rights and i can run the reports. I dont see anything regarding BI publisher in Manage privileges page to grant permission to the groups. Where should i enable or grant the permission to these groups so that they can run those reports. Any advise is greatly appreciable.

BI Publisher (Obiee 11g) Scheduled jobs start randomly after services restarting

Hi everybody,
I've a problem with scheduled jobs on BI Publisher that start randomly after server restarting.
For example if there's a job scheduled every day at 8.00 am it works fine until the server is not restarted but when I restart it next job running start at 9.28 am (it is an example because the real start time is very unpredictable).
In my case bi publisher is integrated with obiee 11g (11.1.1.6.2) and I've scheduled jobs with administrative user (weblogic). For this user I've set the Bi Publisher Preferences (report locale = Italiano-Italia, Report Time Zone = GMT +1:00) from obiee analytics user account preferencies.
Can anyone have this problem too and help me?

These are not helpful. The first link is to OBIEE 10g and the second is just an install guide. I am having the same issue with BI Publisher returning java.lang.NullPointerException in OBIEE 11g. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

OBIEE 11g - create dashboard with Answers Analyse and BI Publisher Repport

I have one question . I create dashboard in OBIEE 11g .In my dashboard have one analyse and one bip report .I create one prompt filter , that changes the both .But I wanted when i click in analysis and change it, this change is reflected in the Report . Is this possible?

I am talking about object permissions in the catalog (eg. Folder permissions..). This is in addition to the permissions for the data source.
You need to be able to view the folders from where you can select the analysis as a data source in the BI publisher report.
Here is an excerpt from the Guide:
For a role to access an object in the catalog, the role must be granted Read permissions on both the object and the folder in which the object resides. Permissions can be granted at the folder level and applied to all the objects and subfolders it contains, or applied to individual objects.
To grant catalog permissions to a role:
Navigate to the Catalog.
Locate the folder or object on which you wish to grant permissions and click More. From the menu, select Permissions. Alternatively, you can select the folder and click Permissions in the Tasks region.

Unable to see Publisher roles in obiee 11g

Hi All,
I have installed OBIEE 11g (11.6). In Admin tool for the user weblogic I am unable to see the publisher roles XMLP_SCHEDULER, XMLP_ADMIN, XMLP_DEVELOPER etc.. But I am able to access publisher.
Only able to see BI Administrator, BI Author, BI Consumer BI System.
In OBIEE 10g, I am able to see all the roles for Administrator user once I installed.

Thanks.Have you installed BI Publisher along with OBIEE ? If yes, then the roles should have been created in the enterprise manager by default. Since you dont see them, I believe you will have to manually create all the application policies and then application roles and assocaite them. You either find them in the documnetation on what to create etc or you can try installing .5 version of OBIEE to replicate the same in .6.
