BI Publisher patch 10023449

Hi has anyone noticed when Patch 10023449 "August Latest roll up version" is applied to BI Publisher the Build Number for the Version is Hashed out with NULL next to it...

Ok, after some investigation.. I don't know if this is in the DOCS, but I couldn't find it if it was.
I have only verified for BI Publisher Stand Alone:
If you want to see the build number on the LOGIN page of BI Publisher next to the version Navigate to:
- Admin Tab (as an administrator) - Server Configuration - General Properties - Debug Level:
Set the debug level to DEBUG.
The built in login page will show the Build next to the version.

I am trying to output a customer list containing customer number and customer name using 11i ( 11.5.10 CU2) with latest XML publisher patches on.
How do I debug the following error in OPP log:

I was able to correct the error. The data contained an '&' sign and that was causing the xml parser to fail with the above error. If the & is replaced by a different character other than & then this error does not occur.

Can XDODTEXE produce BI Publisher output?

I have used BI Publisher to produce a report in Excel that outputs to multiple tabs in Excel xls when executed on the desktop. When I move the rtf Template file and xml Data Definition file to the server and use the XML Publisher Data Template Executable (XDODTEXE) produce to report it appears to produce Excel xlsx format and all tabs are lost.
I would like to know if I convert my rtf template to an Excel template, can I execute it using the XML Publisher Data Template Executable to achieve a report with multiple tabs. Please advise.

i tested true excel template on ebs r12.1.2 and it works only for one group and for two group the result awful it duplicate and mix data

The template tabs are generated dynamically. There may be 1 to 3 tabs.look at xsl-xml template
it works on 11 and 12.1.x as well

Timeout Publisher 10g

After we select more than 500 rows on a report, then the publisher stops respondig and a timeout is shown, any idea?

It cannot be 10.4.0.1 as there is no such BIP version.
1. Could you please double check with your customer?
It could be 10.1.3.4.1
2. Is it stand alone or integrated with BIEE?
3. We need to know the time it takes for BIP to return the results until the pipe is broken message appears.
You have to be precise with your answers otherwise we will be wasting our time and effort to help you.
Only reason I can think of pipe broken is:
The query was not resolved / or did not return with row within the timeout set for the HTTP server. For instance
if your HTTP server has a timeout of 15 minutes and if the query takes 16 minutes then HTTP session will stop.
That is why I asked for how long it takes until you get the error.
4. Is this a development or production environment
5. Latest BI Publisher patch is 11846804 (you have to download it from Oracle Support site).
6. If you are using Firefox try using FIREBUG. This plug-in will help you monitor the HTTP session between BI Publisher and the DB.

Servers are rebooting after patch syncronization

After approving MS-patches through WSUS all of a sudden servers are getting patched and rebooting. This is happening even after deadline has set. I have got a info like Microsoft re-published patches with same KB name, and it might have already approved
in some month back so no deadline setting will take effect. If this is the case how we can tackle this. Appreciate help on this....

Are these servers stuck into a rebooting loop? If yes, please enter the safe mode, then remove the update in control panel.

Normally, even if two updates have the same KB number, the second update will not inherit the approval from the first one. They are two updates.
To prevent the server which has downloaded this update from installing it, please follow the steps below:
Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the
Open box, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type services.msc.
Right-click Automatic Updates, and then click Stop.
Rename the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder as follows:
C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.old
In the Services snap-in, right-click Automatic Updates, and then click
Start.
Besides, before deploy the update in production environment, it is recommended that test the update in a test group.

16080520 - Patch 11.1.1.6.8 (3 of 7) Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher (Patch) 1.6GB in size
16094211 - Patch 11.1.1.6.8 (5 of 7) Enterprise Performance Management Components Installed from BI Installer 11.1.1.6.x (Patch) 1GB in size. Getting the below error message
" Unable to save the file. Contact server administrator"

Hi,
You cannot apply 11i patch on R12 instance. You either find the equivalent XML patch for R12 (if available) and apply it on the R12 instance (see the thread below), or apply the 32-bit patch version on 11i instance.

Time System Advanced Problem Unresolved

Background:
I am running Lookout 6.02, which is connected to a Modicon 984 plc. They are linked by a modbus connection.
Problem:
Randomly,
I receive an error in Lookout " System time advanced 03:34:43.532 from
5/10/07 15:42:57 to 05/10/07 07:05:06." During this time Lookout is not
recording any information (trend screens are blank). At the same time
there is a "No communication response from Modbus secondary" alarm.
Does anyone know what is causing the problem?
Some questions I have answered about this problem already:
Do you programmatically change the Lookout system time in your process? (No)
Do you set any Time Servers for your process? (No)
Perhaps it's also because of the Daylight Saving Time. (It is on
but the clock does not automatically update. Plus this should only
cause a problem twice a year, not 5 times a week).

Well it appears that a similar problem exists in ver 6.1. I don't get any alarm or error but the logged data is incorrectly time stamped which makes the hypertrend useless. I can see the Lookout time (lower left of screens) jump ahead 1 hr 11 sec. for a short duration (1-2 minutes) and then return to normal. I've seen it happen twice in succession for a total of 2 min 22 secs. and a few times directly to 2 hrs 22 secs ahead. Problem occurs more than once an hour.
Lookout 6.1 plus latest published patch
CPU is genuine Intel
OS Windows 2000 SP 4
W2K Daylight savings time patch applied.

Error While opening the login page

Hi All,
When i try to open the log in page , i am getting the error as shown below:--
Request URI:/OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp
Exception:
java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: oracle.apps.fnd.sso.Utils.setRequestCharacterEncoding(Ljavax/servlet/http/HttpServletRequest;)
EBS version is 11i (11.5.10.2 + 10.2.0.3DB)
I tried AOL test. When i do a JSP ping, i am getting the error:--
java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: -1
Tried the following things:--
--- Ran Autoconfig
--- Checked Host entry
--- Cleared Web cache (copy file to destination and recompiled using ojspcompile)
No Particular error in Apache logs and mod_jserv.log
access.log says */OA_HTML/AppsLocalLogin.jsp?requestUrl=%2Foa_servlets%2Fweboam%2Foam%2FoamLogin&cancelUrl=%2Foa_servlets%2Foracle.apps.fnd.sso.AppsLogin HTTP/1.1" 200 462*
Note:-- We applied XML publisher patch (5.6.0). After applying this patch, the issue occurred.

I have a situation where it is necessary to invoke a method on a stateless SessionBean
that resides in WLS 6.1.2 from a client application class that resides externally
on WLS 5.1.0. Everytime I try to establish a context (whether to try and access
an MDB or use RMI and/or JMS) the 5.1 server throws an IncompatibleVersion exception.
javax.naming.CommunicationException. Root exception is weblogic.socket.UnrecoverableConnectException:
[Login failed: 'Incompatible version:Incompatible versions - this server:6.1.2.0
client:5.1.0]
I can't be the first one that has run into this issue - if anyone has any ideas/input,
I would really appreciate it.

Hi.
interoperability between WLS versions has long been a sore point. The good news is that within the next
few weeks BEA will publish patches that address this. Look for WLS 5.1 service pack 12 which will be out
soon. WLS 6.1 sp2 will require a patch as well, which we will also publish.
