  • Publishing Prob: No slideshows

I have used iWeb to design my website for a few years and have very recently completely changed my design.
Since I reloaded this new design the slideshows are not showing when viewed in Internet Explorer. This is a new issue since the upload and my other websites also made in iWeb continue to remain viewable.
One client emailed me the following error:
    Webpage error details
    User Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 8.0; Windows NT 5.1; Trident/4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727; .NET CLR 3.0.04506.648; .NET CLR 3.5.21022; MS-RTC LM 8)

    Char: 575

    URI: http://www.photoperspective.co.uk/Scripts/iWebSite.js
    Extra info:
I have remained with the same iWeb version for all previous published versions. (3.0.3)
All browsers have worked prior to the new upload.
Slideshows are not showing in Internet Explorer and are completely empty - not even the frame or page numbers are there. But with Firefox/Safari there is no problem.
    Tried various I.E versions (6/7 & 8)
I have tried the following; deleting the preferences in the Library folder, uploading the whole site again, uploading a duplicated version to my MobileMe account, uploading a test slideshow to another working website - but unfortunately nothing has worked and any new published slideshow page is empty when viewed from Internet Explorer.
Can anyone recommend a file that may be missing? In media or scripts maybe? I am clueless and apart from putting on my site "Please view with Firefox if using a PC" I am stuck.
    Here is my website link:
    http://www.photoperspective.co.uk/central-london-photographer.html
And here is a direct slideshow link:
    http://www.photoperspective.co.uk/corporate-event-photographer-london.html
Fingers crossed someone can help - Thank you.
PS. I have previously published this dicussion under the heading "PC cannot view albums" but had limited response. Due to my new findings that it is in fact a publishing issue I have made a new discussion to hopefully attract an answer.

Thanks Wyodor - I noticed your MSIE comment on a previous thread and hoped you may respond.
The issue really is not with IE. I know that this is probably why no one has responded helpfully to either me or to the other threads. I am assuming that this probably is believed to be another IE issue. How boring that must be.
I have 12 sites and although I am aware that IE does not display the iWeb sites correctly it does show all the slideshows without any issue.
So a break down of the problem:
Since I republished the whole site the slideshows do not work on IE. That is it! It has been working fine for 5 years.
This can only be an issue with the publishing. I am guessing the scripts just from the error note in the above thread. (Not great detective work on my part)
I am in the process of redesigning in Dreamweaver - but I have a stream of clients that need to view their images daily on my current site. And from last week they can no longer do this. This includes clients that could originally view their images via IE and have continued to use the same link.
So, ignoring the ongoing iWeb/IE hate-hate relationship- are there any other suggestions why this could be suddenly happening?
Thank you for the SiteSpinner link too, Wyodor - I will take a look for when I am redesigning,

  • Publishing prob with site name

    hello all,
just changed a blog page in my site to become the new front page and renamed it "canoetokelau" as its predecessor was called... but, when i published it, google no longer finds the site and the name has changed to http://web.mac.com/damianwelch/iWeb/canoetokelau/canoetokelau/canoetokelau.html (it used to be the same name without the last "canoetokelau)
! if i lose the final "canoetokelau" from this silly list i can presumably be found in google again and by existing users of the site- anyone tell me how, or how i might even lose all 3 "canoetokelau" from the title?
thanks so much for your help and shared experience in advance!
    Damian

    It's because it's a blog
    web.mac.com/username
    redirects to
    web.mac.com/username/iWeb/sitename
    redirects to
    web.mac.com/username/iWeb/sitename/pagename.html
    except for blogs/podcasts:

  • Publishing Probs to Connect Pro

I am a new Captivate user with Mac OS 10.6.4 and the recent elearning Suite2. I have searched the threads but no joy for my question.
I created a project in captivate and chose the Publish Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro metadata and clicked all the appropriate boxes in Publishing Preferences, such as publish project files, zip project files and publish video files .flv
It appears that my Connect Pro does not like the .cptx of the captivate file.  I know that it likes the file to be one of the following formats: *.ppt, *.pptx, *.flv, *.swf, *.pdf, *.gif, *.jpg, *.png, *.mp3, *.html, or *.zip.
    Any help would be super!!
    Thanks again, Ted

Hi - we have had that issue as well and I can't tell you it
was resolved, but can tell you a workaround.
What we have done is simply publish the zip files to the
desktop, and then upload into Connect Pro as Content. That has
worked every time (knock on wood).

  • Airport connection probs with Mac Pro and 10.4.8  too.

This prob is not just related to iMacs or MacBooks as published in the knowledge base doc. I have exactly the same prob with my 2.66 GHz Mac Pro. I have to reconnect this beast to my wlan router manually every time.
    PLZ Apple fix this asap!

I had a similar problem which I've fixed!
I have four machines here which can connect to my Netgear DG834N via Aiport. (I say can because they normally connect via ethernet.) My MacBook Pro always used to be fine when connected wirelessly but recently, not aware of any changes I've made, it connects for about 10 seconds then disconnects. All other machines are fine and hold the connection.
This is what I tried before finding my solution:
    1) Deleted all references to the network in the keychain and remade them.
    2) Created another user to try
    3) Changed channels on the router even though I can't see any neighbour's networks.
    4) Made sure computer and router were up to date with firmware/software.
I'm assuming that it has to be a computer problem as the PowerMac, iMac and iPod Touch have no issues at all. However, the cure was in the router.
I run with SSID broadcast turned off, WPA2 encryption and MAC address filtering. Allowing broadcast of the SSID cures my problem. Turn it off and the computer connects then drops it ten seconds later. Turn broadcast on and it maintains the connection. I've tried it all afternoon, leaving it connected for about 30 minutes at a time before turning SSID broadcast off again. Works every time! Broadcast SSID - fine, no broadcast - drops after ten seconds.
Now, if only I knew why! And why only the laptop?

  • Top Nav buttons not working after publish, but works in app. WHY?

I have tried to find out why these buttons will not work after publishing. They work fine while in the iWeb app, but not when publishing. I do not have any objects near the top nav buttons. The first site went off without a hitch
<www.serenitycustompools.net> the second site began the problem with the last page, the nav buttons would not work. Now this 3rd site, none of the nav buttons at top will work after publish, but will work in app. Anyone else having the same probs? None of my pages have the same names or any punctuation marks, and they are simple one word named pages.

  • Error when trying to view siebel data from BI Publisher

    Hi,
I am trying to view Siebel data in BI publisher via a web service (webservice definition is set to complex in BIP) but when I try to do this I receive the message 'Requested data type does not match with existing data type'.
I am using version 10.1.3.3 of BI Publisher and 8.1.1.2 of Siebel E Clinical.

    hi teresa.

  • No slideshows, frames or albums publish!

I have been trying to solve this for six hours and have a dead arm so give up!
My site (which I have had for a few years with no probs) will no longer publish albums, slideshows or frames. When I publish and 'View Site' on iWeb it is all there. But once I look in the folder, the html files are missing the slideshows etc - but the photos are all still in the media folder.
When trying to view the html files in my FTP the message says "A valid URL could not be created for the file you are attempting to preview. Make sure the file is in your site root or enter the URL manually." However, this is entered correctly within iWeb and has had no issues before.
I have also tried to upload to mobileme and it said that there was an error and could not upload. Is it possible this site could be corrupted? I have nine other sites on the same library which appear to upload Ok!
I can remember when I upgraded this site with iWeb'08 that there was an issue with a .js file within Script, but I have replaced the whole Script folder and still no joy!
The URL I should first direct you to is as I have no set up a temporary diversion from the first page. Photos on their own seem fine, but nothing more exciting
    http://www.karlagowlett.co.uk/personal-projects/personal-projects.html
ANY light on this will be fab! I am off to sleep...

If you're publishing to MobileMe it probably was a server problem that finally got fixed. We've seen a lot of problems similar to this, i.e. web sites suddenly missing files after a publication and then suddenly fixing itself some time later.
Like your album/slideshows. What did you use for them.

  • Published web galleries not available as web widgets in iWeb

hi all. sorry some are experiencing probs with iWeb '08. It does seem to have some bugs, but man it is cool for my uses! I have published a web gallery in iPhoto, but when I go to insert it in my iWeb through the Insert Menu up top or through the web widget menu it says there are no web galleries available. i've restarted my machine and still no go. I can visit my web gallery no problem on the internet. Any thoughts? just a bug that needs to be squashed?

Same problem here. Does anyone know what this command does? Does it create an iframe tag with the web gallery embedded as a frame? Perhaps we could simulate the effect with HTMP snippets while apple fixes it.

  • IWeb published old photo names... will not update

I am having a problem with the photo pages. When I first built a photo page I used images whose file names were too long. When iWeb published the files the names became corrupted and would not display.
I can't get iWeb to forget the original file names...
I have re-named, deleted, re-imported, changes the file size, and made all the changes I can think of to get the photos to be seen as new images. No luck.
Every time iWeb publishes the site it uses the "historic" names for the files.
Any ideas? I'm about to delete the entire site and start over... but I would rather not do it that way. Who knows, that might not even work!
    Thanks!
    PPC Powerbook 1.67   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

I've also had that problem - real headache
    Here's a fix (in princple) :
Within iWeb delete the photos you don't want from the page.
    Save "command-s"
    Quit iWeb
Before re-opening iWeb go and check the 'Domain' 'package' - this is where iWeb stocks the ressources and assets for you as 'user' :
    user/library/application support/iWeb/Domain
Click right to show hidden package contents (I use French Tiger so don't know if that's the right command name but you get what I mean).
Here you'll see all the files/images etc you have used in any of your sites/pages.
In principal when you save in iWeb the Domain gets updated and should throw out any images you deleted from your iWeb page - so those 'old' files should no longer exist.
I think what you may have been doing is deleting images from the page and NOT SAVING that change. In principal Publishing to a folder or .Mac constitues a 'save' but I'm not convinced that the two have the same effect on the Domain.
I actually binned directly from the Domain once but I've read elsewhere that tampering there might cause probs.
Hope that gives you some insight.

  • Can anyone help me understand what "Excessive Probe Frames detected" means?

I am seeing many APs in a SWAN implementation generating the following errors. Clients seem to be getting disconnected regularly... Can anyone give me a guess as to what this means? The location where this is happening is a bit light on access points, but has ample radio coverage. A site survey and walkthrough was performed. Radio parameters were generated through site survey wizard... Thanks!

In medium-size wireless systems, 70+ in a half second may not by unusual.
Managment frames cover all sorts of status polls, beacons & the like.
If you're looking for good references, O'Reilly has a "Definitive Guide to 802.11" that's pretty good.
I also have & use the Planet3 CWNA/CWSP/CWAP certification study books, published by Osborne. They're excellent study guides for the wireless stuff, and also make pretty good references.
(CWNA - Certified Wireless Network Administrator, CWSP - Security Professional, CWAP - Analysis Professional)
If you're gathering tools, a wireless "sniffer" can also be a Very Good Thing.
AirMagnet is (by my understanding) a "cadallac" system, and pretty expensive (~$5000.00)
WildPackets "EtherPeek" for wireless also appers to be an excellet system (but it's also ~US$ 2500 or so).
I use Tamosoft's "CommView" for wireless. It's a very good basic analyzer; it doesn't have all the bells & whistles, but definately gets the job done.
    Full retail it's ~US$500.00.
If you mention that you are studying for CWAP, there's usually a good discount (~$300.00 for the full package).
You can also get a one-year license for ~$200.00.
You can put in all of your systems with aliases (MAC and/or IP) for rapid ID and see which system is sending what (and log it). It can also show you other interfering or malicious traffic.
It's hard to make an evaluation without actually seeing the traffic and the source/destination info.
It could be something as simple as bad drivers, it could be something much more complex ... no way to tell unless you can see what's actually happening.
The probe frames can be someone gathering information about your system, or it could just be a bunch of clients trying to associate.
What kind of authentication do you use (if any)?
    Good Luck

  • ICal Publish failed

After starting a new .Mac family pack membership. I changed my .Mac user/pass in System Prefs, and "unpublished" the calendars in iCal.
Now, when I go to Publish them I get
    Publish failed for calendar 'Main'.
    Request to the server failed.
Which seems like a connectivity problem but I can Sync perfectly with .Mac and also access my iDisk ok.
I have tried deleting a calendar and re-creating it. I also tried publishing a brand new calendar. Those gave the same errors, so I don't think the problem is in the calendar itself.
This is lame of course, because a main reason for my changing to the family pack was so my workgroup could all publish for group calendaring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
    David

Apple helped me finally fix this problem. Go into System Prefs, .Mac.
Go to the iDisk tab, and change your Public Folder settings to Read and Write. (This is a temporary change)
Next try several things to test it. Try opening your iDisk from the Finder. Try writing to the iDisk inside a folder such as "Documents".
When I had this problem, the iDisk would not allow writing, and would fail with a disk space error.
You can also test Backup, or Calendar publish now. If everything is working, you can reset the Public Folder settings to Read Only.
What Apple explained to me via phone, is that there was a permissioning error when the new account was originally set up. Somehow, setting it to Read/Write fixes these permissions, and then you can work with all .Mac features as intended. If you still further probs, I recommend requesting to Apple support that they escalate your request to a more highly qualified engineer, and arrange a phone call. That was the deal for me, and he had it fixed in 2 minutes, after months of frustration.

  • Web publish publishing OLD file???

This is hard to explain because it seems to defy logic.
I made an authorware project. During the creation process, I
published it for the web regularly to see the changes. Great! No
prob! However, when I finally made the last changes and tweaks,
when I published it, it keeps publishing the version that existed
BEFORE I made the most recent changes. When I play it in the
authorware environment, it is OK. When I preview the webpage after
publishing, I see the OLD version.
I unlinked the file settings. Published again. It publishes
    the old file.
I "saved as" another file. Published again. It published the
    OLD file.
I even DELETED the original file. It publishes the DELETED
    version.
I published it on a different computer!!!! You guessed it! It
published a version that doesn't even exist anymore!
I'm obviously missing something...a "cache" or something that
    I don't know about?....Can anyone help me?

Did you by any chance remove the local option (Package As)?
    If you packaged
the file with the local option then it would have created an
    a7r file. If
you remove that package option then it will keep using the
    same a7r file as
the source for packaging the web part (IIRC). Reselect the
    local Package As
option to make it create a new a7r each time you package or
    you can find
where the a7r file is that it's using to package and delete
    that. This might
have been corrected in 7.0.2 but I'm not sure.

  • Publish on new computer

I had a serious computer crash in november and needed data retrieval(successful) . I have bought a new G5 and now realise that my web site published on iweb using my previous computer and hosted by mobile me, is not accesible to me to work on. Apple support got me through the process of migrating the web site "domain" onto my new version of iweb on my new machine but even though it is viewable and I can edit it, I am then unable to publish it as I get a warning that Mobile me isnt communicating with iweb. Is this because the original site was constructed using an older version of iweb and if so is there a way round it. Or do I have to start to build the site all over again.
    Any help much appreciated

B ~ It sounds like your new version of iWeb has successfully opened the Domain file built with an older version of iWeb — so I don't think that's the problem. Try this:
"Go to MobileMe (terrible name) in System Preferences, log out. Then enter a garbage name and password and try to log in. This apparently clears the MobileMe preferences. Then enter your real UserName and PassWord." (Then try to publish.)

  • Premiere elements 13 will not publish + share. eLive doesn't work.

Made my first video after downloading PE13 late last night. Unfortunately, I cannot publish and share. I click publish + share>computer>avhd. From there I've tried multiple preset options. Upon clicking save, the computer works for several minutes and a green checkmark appears with the words, "save complete!" Your video has been successfully saved. Thing is, when I go to the folder I saved it to and try to view the project, windows media player opens a half window and plays the audio from the movie I just saved.
The other issue is that I cannot upload directly to facebook, or YouTube. I have no options for logging in. When I click through to the screen and select "Authorize" I get a screen that says, "Thank you for authorizing Adobe PE13 to upload to your FB account. Select complete authorization to continue uploading the vid to your fb acct. When I hit "authorize" it comes back with "Error your authentication details could not be verified. Kindly try again. What Am I missing? I am logged into facebook. I even have a screen open in another window.
Could these two probs be related? eLive doesn't work either.
    I'm running windows 8.1

    GPPNeil
Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1 (assumed 64 bit).
    First..
    1. Have you updated from 13 to the 13.1 Update using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. If not, please do so.
    2. Do the problems exist if you disable the antivirus and firewall(s)?
    3. Are you running the program as Administrator? Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer?
    4. Have you refreshed the Online Services using Premiere Elements Editor Edit Menu/Preferences/Web Sharing?
    5. Have you updated the Adobe Application Manager?
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4773
6.Is your video card/graphics card driver version up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card?
    7. Lots more we could go through such as deleting the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file and, if necessary, the whole
13.0 Folder in which it exists.
But, I think that you have enough things going on here to warrant an uninstall, free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) and then reinstall with the antivirus and firewall(s) disabled.
