BI Publisher requirement in 11g

Hi Experts,
I wanted to know if the following scenario is possible in BI publisher and if yes then how.
I have one report which contains the summary and detailed data. When downloading it to excel is possible that the summary report goes to one tab and the detail report to annother tab in the same excel. Also the navigation between the summary and detailed report should be through some links.
Any help on this would be greatly helpful.

Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (1Z0-051)?

Hi, I would like to ask 3 questions about the certification requirement of 11g DB OCP.
Please advice me what do I have to do to prepare the OCP exam, thanks a lot in advance.
Q1:
Does 1Z0-001 fit the requirement of 11g DB OCP requirement (pass 1Z0-001 = pass 1Z0-051)?
AFAIK, 11g DB OCP requires passing 3 exams: 1Z0-051 (SQL), 1Z0-052 (AW1), 1Z0-053 (AW2) and finishing a hand-on course at least.
I have passed the 1Z0-001 (Introduction to SQL ans PL/SQL) many years ago.
After searching the discussion in the community, I've found 2 relative:

A1 -- Yes, if you passed 1Z0-001, you do not need to take 1Z0-051. When courses are retired, it simply means they are no longer given to *new* students. Anyone who passed them still retains credit for having done so.
A2 -- Self Study CDs do not count for the hands-in requirement. On the approved courses page of OU, it specifically states: "Self Study CD-Rom and Knowledge Center courses are excellent study and reference tools but DO NOT meet the Hands-on Requirement for certification."
A3 -- Only one course is required for the 11G OCP. That one is on the approved list and so will be acceptable if the vendor is authorized by OU.

Integration of Oracle BI Publisher with OBIEE 11G

I want to know How to Integration of Oracle BI Publisher with OBIEE 11G?
Because I can't create data set using Oracle BI Analysis now, and the analyses and dashboards in BIEE presentation catalog is unvisible. Why?

I may be missing something, but BI Publisher Enterprise is installed at the same time as when you install BIEE on the server. You wouldn't install BI Publisher Desktop on that server. You can use BI Publisher Desktop locally to create templates for use in BI Publisher Enterprise.
I'm much more familiar with XML (BI) Publisher as part of Oracle Apps moreso than BIEE, so I could be wrong in my assessment.

Publisher BI Publisher with OBIEE 11g start up

Can anyone guide me on logging in to BI Publisher from OBIEE 11g Home .
I tried login with my OBIEE administrator credentials (weblogic) , but its saying invalid login.
It seems , somthing needs to be done on the user (roles , policies) .Currently its in BIAdministrators group.

Can I download BI Publisher on Oracle 11g xe

Hello,
I am pretty new to BI Publisher, I have tired to install it many times, but have not been able to do so ....
After I start RCU and when checking The Global Prerequisites, I get this MSG...
The database you are connecting is not a supported version.
Enter Database with version equal to or higher than 10.2.0.4.0 in 10g or version equal to or higher than 11.1.0.7.0 in 11g.
Refer to the certification matrix for supported DB versions I did not understand the error message, I already use Oracle 11g XE R2 ( on Windows 7 machine... )
However, If I ignore it and carry on in the installation process, the configuration of the BI Publisher fails....
What does "certification matrix" mean ??? Why am I getting this error message ???
Pls help, I am stuck in the installation process with more than 10 guys .....

Certification Matrix is a list of compatible combinations of oracle products with platforms and operating systems
and client software, all tested and supported by Oracle.
If not in the list then it means oracle may not guarantee the combination works and thus will not be supported for bug issues.

But going straight to your question:
You are installing Oracle Fusion Metadata on Oracle DB so the proper place to look for minimum requirements is this place:

In Section 7, "Certified Databases" , actually 7.1 you can read the message you are getting is when you are using RCU 11.1.1.0 with Oracle DB 11.2.0.1
and it is only a warning which is safe to ignore.
Also, adds that This warning will not appear in the version of RCU available in Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.2.0).

Error 500--Internal Server Error when using BI Publisher within OBIEE 11g

I'm using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.2BP1 on a Linux x86-64 server and it has been working just fine. We recently started playing around with the BI Publisher component of that installation and every time i go to http://hostname:port/xmlpserver and try to log in with an Administrator username and password, the following error shows up:
Error 500--Internal Server Error
From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
*10.5.1 500 Internal Server Error*
The server encountered an unexpected condition which prevented it from fulfilling the request.
I have looked around for solutions and tried a couple of them (created a new Admin user in Weblogic Console and checked the opmnctl status) and they did not help. I'm looking for an answer other than upgrade to the latest and greatest

Do you have any SSO setup as that might be preventing the ability of the user to log into BI Publisher, hence the Internal 500 error message.
Are you using FMW security model for BIP and OBIPS integration which is by default. Check the xmlp-server-config.xml file from the repository [\Middleware\Oracle_BI1\clients\bipublisher\repository\Admin\Configuration\xmlp-server-config.xml] and see what your security model is pointing to?
Also what happens when you try to access from Administration>BI Publisher >Manager BI Publisher ?

Is there a way to deny access to BI Publisher in OBIEE 11g?

In 11g, the New button in Answers ists all of the types of objects that a user can create. I've figured out which of the privileges controls the display of each of those options, EXCEPT for all of the options under the Published Reporting category. How can we turn on/off access to those 5 objects (essentially, grant or deny access to the BI Publisher options)?

I figured out the answer about 3 minutes after posting the question.
All of the existing Application Roles are associated with Application Policies that allow access to BI Publisher. By creating a new Application Policy and an associated Role, I can accomplish my goal.

Systems Requirements - Weblogic 11g on Windows Server 2012

We are migrating the Delivery Environment from RedHat to Windows 2012 Server. We use Weblogic 11g and I need some help to know about the system requirements for a Windows Server 2012 platform running Weblogic 11g, could you tell me the equivalent Windows platform (CPU/RAM) of a Linux RedHat with that system features:
RAM: 24GB
CPU: 2 MACHINES X 2 CORE
Weblogic 11g system requirements will be higher in Windows Server 2012 than in RedHat if we want to keep up a good performance?

Only 10.3.6 using jdk 1.7u15+is certified on Windows 2012.

I have oracle 11g DB, OBIEE and BI Publisher.
I have a table in Oracle DB - Users
The columns in the table are -
First name, last name, Service organization, addr line 1, addr line 2, city, state, zip, emaiI.
I want to create a MS word template which would run for every user in the User table and email the word document to each user's email.

However let me detail out what I'm trying to do here, and maybe it would help you help me.
I have one Table of people's names, address, email id and personal details. These people are not intended to be OBIEE users. It is a table with people's names and email id.
I want to create a standard email template with certain fields personalized for each individual member of the table and send out an email.
I achieved the email template using narrative view. So i have a standard template with the name, address etc populated form the narrative view's help.
Now, I have to send it to each of the user's email using the email specified in email column.
(( I'm researching more on using the SA system table .. but I really do not want to create them as OBIEE users.))
Points to ponder and further action-
Each time a new user is added to the table - the personalized email should be sent to that member. ((Maybe use flags??)
(I was thinking in terms of Triggers - & is there a way to use scripting for scheduling agents? command line?)
Please ask more details and I can answer them for help.

Hardware requirements voor 11g

Hi all
I have dowmloaded Oracle version 11G from this website.
I have tried to install it, but apparently the hardware / memory etc isn't up to the task (I am using an older computer specially and only for Oracle)
So I have to buy a new computer.
I am trying to avoid the situation that I buy another computer which asl isn't up to the task.
I have searched the this forum and web but can't find an answer to my question:
What are the requirements needed for Oracle 11G (hardware, memory, harddisk etc)??

The requirements posted in the Install docs are minimum requirements - using the minimum will result in a successful install, but performance of the software will leave a lot to be desired. I would at least triple the requirement numbers to get acceptable performance :-)

Weblogic license required for 11g Grid Control?

Weblogic is a pre-requisite for installing 11g Grid Control.
if you do not have weblogic already, and your only requirement for it is to use for Grid Control, is a license for Weblogic required?
I have raised an SR on this - and have been told a license is required.
I'm staggered by this - the packs in Grid have always been licensable, but the very basic functionality has always been free - including the use of an 'infrastructure' database to house the repository.
I'm interested to hear other peoples' experiences and whether this is a 'known' fact.

I've already asked Oracle sales staff about it, but I don't want to mislead you.
Could you remind them their restricted-use license?
Grid Control includes a restricted-use license for the Oracle Database and Oracle Application Server components required to deploy Grid Control. Refer to Section 1.3.3,

ThanksI suggest you to start letting the default parameters and then tune them step-by-step.
Eg:
- open_links => If you dont have database links you can avoid to set it.
- processes: number of backgroud processes + expected session/users for your application. if you have 1000 users connecting at the same time you would set a value higher than 1000.
- shared_pool_size, db_cache_size, sort_area_size, pga_aggregate_target are not mandatory if you use automatic memory management by Oracle.
- etc.

Passing drill down filter to a BI Publisher report in 11G

Let's say we have a dashboard with a prompt and a regular Answers report. The user expects the prompt to filter report 1 and then make a selection from the report1 to navigate to report 2 which is now being filtered by both the prompt and the selection from report 1. I looked through the documentation on BI Pub 11G and it looks like if we now navigate from report 2 to a BI Pub report only the dashboard prompt (via presentation variables) will be passed to the BI Pub report. Is there a way to also pass the filters created within report 1 and report 2 to BI Pub?

Hi. That helped. I get the right value now in the dropdownlist. When defining the dashboard prompt I wrote some custom SQL:
SELECT "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."DESCTEXT", "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."KEY" FROM "promptsource" WHERE "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."DESCTEXT" IS NOT NULL ORDER BY "A11_DIM_PERIOD"."KEY". Now the prompt shows the display values but as soon as I select on and hit apply the dropdownlist text changes to the Key values (whicih is fine for my parameters, because they need to be key values rather than text) but this is unfortunate for the front end user, they will wonder "hey, why did the drop down list value I selected just change". Right now, I dont know why. The prompts work fine just odd that their display data changes from rpd logical column description field to sort field.

Yes this is possible.
You need to build the Excel file using XSL.
It is quite an advanced way of doing it but you get to have alot of control of where you place the cells and worksheets.
I'm not sure if there is another way to create multi worksheet reports in BI Publisher
