BI Queries in WDA

Is it possible to use BI Queries as Model in Web Dynpro ABAP?
Or can we convert BI Quries in BAPI's?

Execution of POWL Queries through ECC EHP5

Hello,
I am an SAP BW Consultant, new to the Power list concept. I would like to have information on the following stuff related to POWL queries:
1) In POWL_QUERY transaction, i got the list of all the available POWL Queries as per EHP5. Please let me know if there is any possibility of executing these queries directly from ECC, without being re-directed to Portal or NWDS? This is because we don't have Portal or NWDS in our current landscape.
2) I have seen that POWL queries are generally the InfoSet queries. This gives me an option of leveraging POWL queries by executing directly as InfoSet queries from SQ01. But I found some POWL queries like "/KYK/OP_FI_VENDOR_ITEMS_ALL" which are not available in SQ01. How can I execute these queries from ECC? What needs to be done to make them available as normal InfoSet queries in SQ01? I have seen an option of registering InfoSet query as a POWL query, but here i want something just opposite.
Would appreciate immediate response.

1. POWL queries are WDA applications. Therefore they can be ran by adding them to the user's role or even directly in the Web Browser if they know the URL. There is absolutely no connection to the NetWeaver Developer Studio at all and they can't be edited there anyway since they are ABAP based. Now POWLs can often contain Portal API based navigation, however. This is why we do make the general recommendation that you should run POWLs within the NetWeaver Business Client or the NetWeaver Portal. Otherwise the navigation from the POWL to the detailed transaction might not work.
2. These are probably feeder class based POWLs. There would be no options to convert these back into InfoSet Queries. I believe you are confusing two subjects here. The purpose of POWL isn't to enable InfoSet queries. Infoset Queries are just one of several possible sources of creating POWLs.

Barcode / Weight from RS232 Cable interface

We are in the process of developing a solution in WDA which is very tightly integrated with standard SAP.
For most of the inputs, my client uses barcode readers attached to the PC and also for some of the operations we are suppose to get the weights from Weigh Scales directly without human intervention except for click of a button.
My queries, will WDA support these features, as it does it in standard Dynpro, Is there any specific coding beside the interface for weigh scale is required.

as far as i know,but i'm really not sure in this case,there are only WD BarCode Reader API's available for Web Dynpro Java.

These and also the RFID API's are part or the mobile Add on libary and WDA isn't supported fr mobile devices up to now.
But you have a possiblility to use a virtual keystroke(simulating a keyboaurd during the scan) if your barcode vendor shippes a PC software for that. The value is then transfered into the focused WDA Input Field as if it is typed manually. For that have a look into this thread:

Integrate BI queries in WD ABAP

Hi Experts
Can somebody guide me as in how can we integrate BI queries in WD ABAP.
Will we be using BI application frame UI or is there any other approach?

Actually we have made a recent decision within SAP to un-depricate the iFrame. The help documentation will be updated when the 7.02 version is released. The limitaitons of the iFrame remain very much the same, but we simply aren't going to remove the UI element in the future any longer. It is safe to use within the documented limtations and use cases.
Going with Visual Composer... Thats a totally different directly, but one you are welcome to take. You will basically be replacing the query creation tool then. Not sure what that has to do with WDA integration or what type of integration you were looking for.

Reg: An ABAP program has to run two SAP Queries via BG to Appl. server

I have a requirement to develop an ABAP program to be able to run the two Z Queries respectively and be able to download to the file to the application server via background.
The selection is based on the Query Name, Usergroup and plant.How do we capture the data from the Queries and send it to the application server? Submit Statement is not working. There is a FM: RSAQ_REPORT_NAME from which we get the Query program name when Qery name and User group is given as an input.Through the above FM I have got the Query program name and used Submit statement with List_options to capture the Internal table data of that Query. As the Query program is dynamically generated and not available in TSTC, the Submit is not Working. Kindly suggest me is there any other approach to do it.
Please provide me the solution.

WDA + External Portal + Security

Hello friends!
@Moderator, sorry if I post it in a wrong forum, but I think the wda experts should have already faced this issue.
I've been reading all forums regarding to this subject. As you are going to see, I'm not used to work with WDA Portal integrations and I'm studying hard for it.
Could you please just guide me what I have be aware to connect WDA from a ERP server to another server, which has installed the Portal? (portal is accessed externally/internet)
I'm afraid about security, as the employees will access the portal by internet (it's already working fine, today they can access the portal externally and can use some Webdynpros Java) But for now, we are going to rewrite these WDJ to WDA.
1) The portal server connecting WDA's from a ERP server, isn't it a best practice?
2) As it is already working (external access to the portal), for now I have just to create the iViews to the WDA's from ERP server?
3) What would be the security risk when people access the external link to the Portal and the Portal redirected it to the ERP?
I would greatly appreciate your help in only guide me.

Not at all, The composition Environment CE is intended for this purpose only.

First you need to create a system connection in portal to the ERP server. Later you need to create the iViews

As per my knowledge there is no security risk involved because while accessing the WDA application from ERP the request will be authenticated again.

Need help on WDA component OBJECTDATAPROVIDER

i have to work on OBJECTDATAPROVIDER component before that i have some queries realated to that .
1 . how to use this component in our application . i tried the standard applicatin provide by sap but is not showing the output
[ OADP_TEST , OADP_EXAMPLE ] and the error message is the the component not exist in SICF .
2 . please share some link on how to resuse the OADP component in WDA application .

Hi,
for the error part, you can click on WD application OADP_TEST, click on Goto->HTTP Service Maintenance from Toolbar Menu
Select Service OADP_TESt and activate it.
Same with other.
If service is not present than from menu you can launch Service Create Wizard then create a service and activate it.

For any webdynpro queries , post it under Application server->Webdybnpro-ABAP OR JAVA forum.
You can hide the entire group by binding a attribute to the visible property of the group.
if lv_i_text is initial.
* to set GROUP hidden

        value = 'X' ).

Could I have CASE or IF statement in FMS queries?

Is it possible to have case statements in FMS queries:
For example:
SELECT T0.[U_DepoistfeeON] case
when T0.[U_DepoistfeeON] is NOT BLANK then $[$38.111.160]='Deposit Fee'
when T0.[U_DepoistfeeON] is BLANK then then $[$38.111.160]=BLANK
end FROM OITM T0
What is wrong with above query please? Thank you very much.
I do not mind even if above query is doable with an IF statement in it.

Hi Rahul, this is what I want -
I have a user defined field attached to item master OITM. The field is called : U_DepoistfeeON
The above field contains additional depositFee taxes for selling beer bottles.
I have also created a new tax as part of Freight handling. While on Sales Order screen, the Freight (unhide first through forms field) drop down can have the new tax type selected automatically "Deposit Fee".
Thus, if the line item is of beer type that has U_DepositfeeON, then Freight field should automaticlally pick the type "Deposit Fee".
If U_DepositfeeON is zero then I would like the Freight field on Sales Order screen ($38.111.160) set to blank.
I tried to achieve this through following using case statement.
select T0.U_DepoistfeeON
from oitm t0
case
when T0.U_DepoistfeeON 0
then $http://$38.111.160='Deposit Fee'
when T0.U_DepoistfeeON = 0

Of course it doesn't work. Note: I know I typed in DepoistfeeON, the error is not due to that.

How to Dene a Data Link Between Queries: Bind Variables

This is an interesting topic and I cannot get it to work using Bind Variables.
I have 2 queries: Q1 and Q2. Q2 needs c_id, account_code and account_type from Q1.
Whe I run the data template below, I get only the data for Q1.
Now people may argue that there is no data in Q2 for the relevant clause. So if I even remove the where clause in Q2 I still get no joy i.e Data appears for Q1 but not for Q2

How to use one WAD template for all the available queries

I have created a WAD template... Now we have close to 25 queries which will use that template for displaying their output at Portal...
Is there any way that i don`t have to create multiple copies of my WAD template...
I.e. all queries would call that same template through portal...

The Bex report uses the Standard Template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN while it is executed.
So if your sure that the look and feel of all the Reports is going to remain same, you don't need to even attach all these Queries to Templates in WAD.
When you execute the BEx query, it would pick up the standard template and run it in portal.
But if you want to customize the Report Template:
1) You can change this standard template 0ANALYSIS_PATTERN and customize it according to ur requrement in WAD.
2) Or you can create a copy of this standard template and change it as required. Then change the template in spro (transaction RSCUSTV27) to point to this Z template.

Error while Activating / running Bex queries/reports

I have following ERRORs while activating / running BEx reports/queries.
1. While Activating BEx reports, I keel getting following ERRORS
Object directory entry R3TR ELEM E341OIR6G715GUMGN0MRXP3MA does not exist
Error when activating element BX7FOOKQB4588RROCBTC2YVZN
BEx transport request 'BIDK901352' is not available or not suitable
2. While running the BEx report/query in Bex Analyzer, I'm getting ERROR in entering the parameters, its NOT allowing / giving me option to select the parameters, for example for 0COSTCENTER, it is NOT displaying list costcenters to select before I can RUN that particular report.
3. How can I trouble shoot ERRORs related to BEx and Portal connectivity.
4. How would I setup the Variants for a Bex query/report ? Are these Variants for per user basis / per report basis. Can I have each variant for particular users OR all users must select their own variant each time when they RUN the report ?

Goto SE03 -->Search for Objects in Requests/Tasks option , select the object type and execute it will give all the transports it has collected before ..
Also you can use transport connection in RSA1 and select the query and find out all the objects in query locked by what request etc ..

Diagnosis
You wanted to generate an object with the name '!ZTIC_UKA' (in transport request ELEM) of type 'Query' (TLOGO). This is, however, not available in the BW Repository database. It does not exist in the requested version A. If the version is 'D' then it is possible that an error arose during the delivery or installation. If the version is 'A' then the Object was either not created or not activated.

YOu are trying to transport the element ZTIC_UKA' of the query,may be an variable which is not colelcted in the request.
Try to transport the query through RSA1> Transport connection->Query-->give you query name -->Drag and Drop to Right hand side and Click on collect all dependent objects and check whetehr they have collected in the same request.Make sure ur variables are collected.
Tranport it now and Check.
