BI switching to new ECC 6.0 box from R/3 4.7, question on delta init?

Hi all,
Our BI has been already upgraded to 7.0. Currently connected to R/3 4.7.
Now a new box is made with ECC 6.0 and Oracle 8 which is a mirror copy of the r/3 4.7.Once the new box is ready the BI 7.0 connection will be switched from R/3 4.7 to the new box ECC 6.0.
My question is ...
In the R/3 4.7 the datasources were already initialized for delta..so the pointer for delta was already setup.
Now when we connect the new ECC box do I have to initialize delta again ? or would the new system recognize the pointer since it is a mirror copy from the old system?
pls advice

Hi,
you would have added the new ECC source  system to the BI.
I that case I think you need to initialize the Data again.
As all other requirements for delta like the pointer in delta queue might  not be set for the  new datasources.
I havent tried such thing till. but as per the concepts I understand You need to initialize the data

It´s a bit confusing what you write - I try to get your point:
    - your 4.7 is running on Oracle 8 (VERY old, unsupported)
    - you install a NEW system on ERP 6.0? Or do you upgrade your 4.7 copy?

  • Mount a new device in Unix box from Java

    Hi,
Would anybody please help me how to write a method that could mount a new device to the sever?
For example, I have new device call "d0". After telnet and login the Unix box, I could execute "/sbin/mount d0". But I don't know how to execute this command from my java app. Someone suggested me to use "telnet" protocol while other suggested to use "socket". I don't know syntax either one.
Please help and thanks in advance.
    Hung.

    Thank you, newio.
You'll than have to communicate with it using the Telnet protocol. >There i probably a class out there that does this for you, so use >Google to find it.If I find Telnet protocol class, how can I use it with my socket. Is that a stand alone application or class? Honestly, I don't know anything about socket programming. Please clerify a little bit loggically how it works.

  • Steps/RisksConnecting BW  with New ECC 6  while keeping old ECC5 box active

    Hi Friends-
Right now we have current dataflow from ECC 5 to BW 7.0 for differnet countries .Now i  have a situation where i have new ecc 6.0 box. and I need to move only one country functionality to new Ecc6 box and load data from new box to current BW box. So what are the pain ponts/Risks in doing this. My concern is all about master data, Can anyone suggest the best methodology to do this without effecting current dataflow or overwriting objects.
    Regards,
    Mark

    Hello Mark,
Does your master data overlap and you can't easily make it unique from the individual source systems? If not you could compound with 0SOURCSYSTEM as described in the SAP note  184948.

I purchased a new 4G WI FI box from Verizon and replaced the older Verizon WI FI to increase my internet speed.  Now the printer won't work for me,  why?

Because you have to re-connect the printer to the new network.  What printer?  What operating system on your computer?

  • Checklist for BI on new ECC box

Hello Experts, Can you please provide me the BI checklist for the new ECC box. We just built a new box and we want to confirm that all the BI componets and contents are installed.
    Thx.

That's all well and good, though I've never agreed or been asked to agree to be part of a trial, nor am I paying trial prices for my subscription.
You are not part of any trial. You have the latest working software on your box. That is now standard issue to new customers.

  • IM Init with new ECC and BI Production start up

    Hi Everyone:
We have a new BI and new ECC going live.  There will be a period of downtime in the production ECC box after conversions are done. This will be just prior to golive time.    Is it ok to go ahead and do the 3 inits for IM with ECC to BI before the boxes are up and being used?  We have done this before on another project without any problems but I just need some confirmation for my peace of mind on this.  Thx

    Hi,
In r/3 side ok when ever u rcoping from one systme to another for example if u take r/3 production to r/3 quality now the entire system will be copied as like production in r/3
now in bw quality is asconnected to r/3 quality once ur copied the logical system every thing cahnegd in quality r/3 but before copy the system is connected with different logical system.
hence it is better to chnage logical system after copying from production to quality.
now u take BW side, yes what u said is write it is tottlly coping system if u r refereshed the system automatically the production system will be copied in quality all delta process will come to quality
so once u r refreshed teh quality r/3 then it si better to once again replicate the qualty sasyte(after coping productionr/3) the do the copy of bw production to quality.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Concerns over switching between new Azure SQL Database Service Tiers

    Windows Azure's new SQL Database
service tier pricing model will be put into effect in less than 12 months. We currently have SQL Databases on the Business and Web Edition pricing models.
We recently asked Azure Support a number of questions around the scalability and ability to switch between these tiers. The responses so far have been far from encouraging:
Q: If we exceed the criteria for a given tier (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/azure/dn741336.aspx), how will Azure respond? For example, if we are on the S1 service tier, and we exceed the maximum number of sessions (200), will any new sessions be
blocked until we manually increase the service tier? Or will you automatically move (and bill) us to/for the next tier level?
A: If you exceed the criteria of the existing tier, you shall be notified of performance issue like throttling. Users may experience slowness and blocking. There will not be any automatic upgrade.
Q: So to confirm, if we suddenly experience increased, unanticipated client activity overnight due to our web site becoming more popular, you will be blocking any user sessions over and above our performance level limit, until we manually make the transition
to the next level? Is there no “overdraft” facility/scalability in this respect? If this scenario took place within a short space of time, how would we have time to react? Simply blocking new sessions and preventing customers from using our site is not acceptable.
A: I’m sure you understand that SQL Azure database is a shared resource and hence we cap the resources for individual subscription so that a fair service is provided to all the concurrent users. If you feel that you cannot compromise on the user experience
then you shall think of an edition that best suits you. Please refer to the following document to best understand the throttling and its impact. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1541.windows-azure-sql-database-connection-management.aspx#Throttling_Limits
Q: Since the changing of the performance level could take several minutes/hours depending on the size of the database, would we experience any downtime/degradation of performance of the database during this period?
    A: You might
Q: If downtime/degradation of performance are a possibility whilst we switch service tiers, what do Microsoft recommend we do to safeguard against this? Should we create a second database on a higher tier level and then export the data from the lower tier and
import to the higher, before switching over? How do Microsoft recommend we switch tiers in a production environment with minimal disruption?
A: If you want to upgrade the tiers due to degradation of performance, you will have to create another database on a higher tier and import the data.
One of our key reasons for moving to Azure hosting was the seamless scalability it appeared to offered. As you can imagine, the responses above are a major concern for our production environment. Does anyone else have any thoughts or concerns in this respect?

    James,
I reviewed the support incident you referred to and believe that the questions you asked may have been answered later in the interaction you had with the engineer.  For the benefit of others viewing this forum I want to reiterate the answers
to your key questions here as well.
    Q. What is the behavior when you reach the limits for the service tier?
    A. Each service tier currently has limits on 4 different dimensions (CPU, physical reads, log writes and memory) of resource consumption.  When you reach one of the limits, the behavior depends on which resource limit you are hitting, but
generally speaking is consistent with the behavior you would see with a similar hardware limit in the SQL Server box product.  For example, when you reach the CPU limit your queries will start showing more SOS_SCHEDULER_YIELD waits,
the memory limit will cause a higher percentage of pages to be read from disk instead of the buffer cache (PAGEIOLATCH_xx waits), etc.  This set of limits does not directly abort any of your queries--they just run longer as they
vie for the fixed set of resources made available to your database.  In a system where the load greatly exceeds the resources, queries may start to time out.
The new service tiers continue with the Web/Business edition behavior of limiting the number of sessions and concurrent requests (worker threads) you can have.  When you exceed these limits you'll get error 10928.  Note that
each tier in Basic/Standard/Premium have different values for these limits (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn369873.aspx) than Web/Business and thus may encounter the errors at different usage levels.  The key is choosing the appropriate
service level for the application, and to facilitate that the sys.resource_stats view shows historical usage information so you know where you stand as far as reaching any of the limits.  This resource consumption data is also available in the portal.
    Q. Is it possible to switch service tiers, and is there any disruption when you do so?
    A. Yes, you can change between service tiers as described in this MSDN documentation (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn369872.aspx).  This can be done through the portal, powershell, or REST APIs.  [The preview currently has a restriction
where legacy servers don't support switching to Basic/Standard which is expected to be removed in the near future.]  The link above outlines the limits on the number of tier changes you can do in a 24 hour period, expected time to perform the change, and
    the client disconnect that occurs.
If you have further questions, feel free to re-engage on the support incident or reply to this forum thread.

  • New standard Bt vision box v Youview box

I am bit confused, I know BT vision is about to start giving Humax Youview box to it subscribers I thought this was to replace the old silver BT vision Boxs howevervier I notice that bt has already started supplying new ( black) BT vision box's. Are the youview box replacing the these black standard  BT visions box or are both types still likely to be supplied. If the later what do you get on the black standard Bt vision that you can not get on the youview box?

The 1st generation BT Vision box was the grey one you refer to.
The 2nd generation BT Vision black box has been in use for a few years now.
There are suggestions that BT are testing a 3rd generation BT Vision HD box, but this is still under development and there are no official details on that yet.
The BT Youview HD box will be a separate thing. It is not designed to replace the BT Vision boxes. It gives those who want to make use of other non-BT Youview services an option to do that. However the BT Vision services via Youview will not be as comprehensive as those provided via the official BT Vision boxes.
    See this BT help page.
    BT Youview v BT Vision
Also see this previous thread discussing the differences.
    Bt-vision-2-vs-you-view
Personally I don't really see the point of BT having their own branded Youview box. If people want a Youview box they can just go and choose one from those on offer in the shops. As far as I know Sky have no plans to create a Sky branded Youview box, yet they will still offer services on Youview. But who am I to say.

  • I'm embarrassed to ask this: when I click to initiate a new email message in the "From" box it automatically chooses the wrong email address (I have three but use one mainly). How can I get the right choice to appear automatically?

I'm embarassed to ask this: when I click on the new mail icon to write a new email message, in the box "FROM" appears the wrong email address: I have three but mainly use one. How can I correct this so that the right email address appears in the "FROM" box?

I assume this is Apple Mail. Try this:
    Preferences > Accounts > your-first-account
Select Outgoing Mail Server of account/name you wish to use and check Use only this server
    Repeat for other accounts.

  • Warning while adding new ECC

    Hi ,
I am getting error while adding new ECC variable in ICM. PFB the error message.
" The Maximum size of all Expanded Call Variable in the Computer Telephony Integeration Server is 2500 bytes. Saving these schanges would require 2795 bytes.
will this hamper the performance of the system..?

Hi, no, it will not work at all, so no worries about system performance.
Why are you adding a new ECC variable when the system tells you it wont fit?

when installing iTunes on my new laptop a message box appears saying some sort of error has occured and i have to uninstall it then reinstall it again and it still won't work what should i do?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Do I need an ethernet switch or new router for IP camera setup with old Airport Express

    Hello,
I am trying to setup a third party Foscam IP camera to my network so that I can ultimately use it as a baby monitor, and am having some difficulty.  I currently still have an old Airport Express (with one ethernet port only).  This is preventing me from setting up the initial camera because I don't have another ethernet port to plug it in to on the router.  I am wondering if I can just buy an ethernet switch and have it "split" the ethernet from my modem to both the camera and the Airport (I do need to check with my ISP provider if they give me two separate IP address... but if they do, would this work?).
I am fairly sure however, that my ISP provider (comcast) only provides one IP for my account.  Does this mean I would have to buy a new router altogether with more than one ethernet port on it or one with a WAN port?  Would I, in this case, have to plug the modem into the WAN port on the router, and then the camera to one of the ethernet ports on the router?
I consider myself fairly tech savy, but when it comes to routers, IPs, LAN, WAN, etc. I get a bit lost.  This has been creating quite a headache for me and any help would be appreciated!  Thanks in advance!

Sorry, but this won't work as the modem expects only a single device ... either a computer or a router to be connected to it. Unless your modem is actually a combination modem & router or gateway device, then you would need a different router to solve your networking problem.
