BI - Sybase RFC connection & setup

Dear All
We are going to implement Sybase in our existing landscape.
Right now we have BI Component Ver. SAP NetWeaver 2004s with database Oracle 10.2.0.4.0. All BI reports are publishing in dashboard via EP Portal.
We want to connect our sybase server with BI and publish the all BI reports through sybase on EP portal
Should any one guide me how can i make the RFC from sybase to BI server. We decide to go with UD connection with JAVA JDBC connector. Should any one guide me to create the RFC TCP/IP RFC connection from BI to sybase server
BI server is running on SUN Solaris. OS
And sybase server is running on Windows 2k8 server.
Thanks and Regards,
Nirav Kundaria

Nirav,
The forum that you have posted your question in is for questions related to SAP Business One System Administration.  Your question seems to be related to Sybase, BI and NetWeaver.  You may have better luck posting your question in those forms here on SDN.

  • FTP RFC Connection setup - step by step

    Good afternoon
I am not a BASIS/System Administrator; in my colleague's absence I have to attempt setting up an FTP RFC Connection.
    I have the following information:
    1. IP Address
    2. Username
    3. Password
The following is the setup I tried:
    a. Connection Type == G - HTTP Connection to Ext. Server
    b. Target Host (Technical Settings Tab) == &IP Address&
    c. Logon username (Logon/Security Tab) == &Username&
    d. Logon password (Logon/Security Tab) == &Password&
But, the 'Test Connection' fails with 'ICM_HTTP_CONNECTION_FAILED'.
Any suggestions to resolve will be much appreciated!
Thank you and best regards, Adrian

    Hi Adrian,
Could you detail what you are trying to set up a connection to?  This would help determine whether the connection type you are using is correct.
    Regards.
    Steve.

  • EWA RFC connection SETUP - From Customer system to VAR solution Manager

    Hi Andrea,
Have you already tried to use SMSY to generate the "Back" Destination from customer system to your SolMan?
Once you have selected the customer system in SMSY, you are able to use the RFC connection wizard.
Alternatively, you can define the RFC destination manually.
For easier tracking and trouble shooting, I would recommend to setup a communication user in your SolMan for each individual connected managed customer system.
Assign the appropiate profiles to the user in your SolMan system and create the RFC destination in the managed customer system.
    Best regards,
    Ruediger

    Hi,
I think you have added wrong port entry in services file.
The entry of sap servers in services file for load balancing are
    sapms<SID>  36<instance number>/tcp
so please check once again and add the entry using above formula in services file.
Also add the entry of all SAP servers in your hosts file.

    host hemisrq.services.retail.tc.services.retail.tc
It seems to me that somewhere the domain is double used.
    Additionally:
Sometime there is sapgw 01, sometime sapdp 02. Can you please check the correct service numbers / system numbers?

    Hi all,
Do I really need to setup our own SAProuter if our firewall doesn't block any outbound IP address?
I've tried the following settings in OSS1 but still failed to connect.
    SAProuter at SAP :-
    Name : sapserv3 ( or sapserv7 or sapserv2)
    IP address : 147.204.2.5   (or 194.39.134.35 or 194.39.131.34)
    Instance no : 99
    SAPNet Message Server
    Name : oss001
    DB Name : 001
    Instance No : 01
I left the SAProuter1 and SAProuter2 (at customer site) blank.
    Did I miss out anything?

Check the BW destination in the source system. In particular with SAP connections make sure that you have entered the correct password.
    How shall I proceed?
I checked  User ID in Source System.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Its simple, when the BWALEREMOTE user was setup in your system, the password provided was incorrect or the user ID with that password might have been locked.
Using transaction SM59 you can setup the RFC Destinations. So, go to SM59 check the user ID and give the correct password.
    Hope this solves your concern,

  • RFC connection from SAP R/3 to OS400 server

    Hi,
I am trying to establish an rfc connection between an R/3 system and OS400 server.
I dont have much experience on communication interfaces i have seen different options in SAPRFC.ini file but still i wanted to get some expert comments from the experts.
    Please help me on this.
    Thanks
    Junaid.

    Hi,
We had the same scenario here also. You can call .NET code from ABAP program using SAP .Net connector.
The data can be downloaded to SQL server based on periodic job wise (every Half an hour or 1 Hour) .
    1. Write an ABAP report to get new personnal numbers from HR master tables based on created date.
    2. Create a RFC to pass employees details.
    3. You can create a proxy in .NET server stub code based on the above RFC.
    4. Write code to get data .NET object and establise a connection to SQL server.
    5. Write code to push data into SQL server tables.
    6. After you complete the .NET code, when you generate this code will create an exe file.
    7. You have to execute that exe with few command line arguments.
    8. The command line arguments need to setup in RFC destination (SM59).
    9. In that ABAP report call this RFC with RFC destination as you defined.
.NET code can be done by .NET person.
Let me know if you have any clarifications.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Govind.

  • DB connect no data found is rfc connection required

    Hi Gurus,
I want to retrieve data from oracle database, i have all the table with data in it, but through the source system i.e db connect it does not display any contents of the table, it says no data found, the installation was all done perfecttly fine, i can read the table fields but i am not able to read the data from the table. what could be the problem.
Is an RFC connection required for this db connect to retrieve the data from oracle. or else what is the issue. Can anyone please help me out on this, I already posted long back on this still no reply on it. From the osss notes it allgives information about the intallation but it there is no data found then it does not give any information onthis. Can anyone please help me out on this.
    Thanks,
    Hem

    Hi Hem,
You want to retrieve data from Oracle Database using BW and you are having a problem?
Try isolation technique to solve your problem.
Try to use third party softwares e.g. MS Excel. Retrieve data from Oracle using MSExcel. If MSExcel can retrieve data then you can conclude:
a.) The network connection to Oracle is fine.
b.) Oracle is up and running and is able to serve data from your specified table.
RFC Connection is not required. RFC is only useful for SAP to SAP communication. This connection uses a different technique and uses a different driver to communicate. SAP provided DB Connect Engine. A similar approach as what Microsoft's OLEDB is doing. This to make a transparent connection between various database systems. (whether MSSQL, Oracle, MSACCESS, SYBASE etc.)
As part of isolation technique, are you sure you are accessing the correct table? Try to access other tables. If you can access data of different tables then something is wrong with the table you want to access.
Have you check authorization issues? Are you allowed to extract data?
Hope I have helped. If I did, please grant points...

Now where sould I go to configure CCMS monitoring ?
    Thanks in Advanced
    Travis

    Hi user issue2008 issue
actually i can't connect to solman, but i think it was under 3.
When you select a component, i.e. Dev R/3 or so you should have several clients.
There you can define RFCs and also there you can define Solution Monitoring.
But I think there should be already RFC-Destinations, when you had configured the EWA.
Then you should check the client with the RFC-Destination and Checking Destination.
In Edit-mode you can check the box for Solution Monitoring and save and ok.
After that it should be activated.
    Hope it helps you.
    Regards,
    René

    Hi,
It will be very difficult to solve without being on the customer site and having all information.
Right now, the error code is network error...
    Kind regards,

  • RFC connection BI and ECC 6.0

    Hi
I am trying to connect BI and ECC 6.0 at home on two different virtual machines for data extraction and practicing delta management ( they are on the same virtual network).
I am following these steps :
Step-by-step procedure to connect BI with ECCu2026
Define the logical system in R/3 using the transaction code SALE in both the systems (ECC and BI)
Assign Logical System to a client using transaction code SCC4 in both the systems (ECC and BI)
Setup the RFC Destination using transaction code SM59 in both the systems (ECC and BI)
Hit Transaction BD64 and Click Create model view -  Enter the Short text u2013 Enter the Technical name  u2013 Hit Execute -  Distribution Model will be created and the technical name of the distribution model will be listed
Place the cursor on model created and and click Add message type button on the top right corner
Enter sender and receiver system IDs  and select the correct message type assigned to the correct system
Distribute this model using Edit u2013 Model View u2013 Distribute
Select the receiver of the model view and proceed to distribute the model
Please note that the distribution of data model is not required to repeat in BI system as this step automatically replicates settings in BI
You have to generate partner profile for each system with which your system communicate using BD82
Outbound records are created in the partner profile for each outgoing message and inbound records are created for each incoming messages
You can view the partner profiles generated using the transaction code WE20
    Message Types:
RSRQST: This message type is send by BI to R/3 while loading any data. This gives information about the data source, selection condition and other BI settings to R/3.  As and when a load is started in BI, RSRQST message type is sent to R/3 requesting for data.
RSINFO: Once R/3 receives RSRQST message from BI, it sends an acknowledgment message type to BI informing about the status of the request. That is whether the request can be handled or not by R/3. It also gives information about how many data packages are being send and what is the total number of records extracted for the given data source and selection.
RSSEND: After sending a positive acknowledgement to BI, R/3 starts the extraction job and starts collecting data in data IDocs. This message type carries the actual data with it into the BI system.
My question is that : Do i know need to create three model views for these three message types?? Are these steps sufficient?
Please let me know if some other things needs to be followed or U know more simpler way to RFC connect so that I can pull data from ECC into BI and practice delta management.
    Thanks

    Hi Niru,
    Have you created a
[RFC destination in NW Administrator?|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/5a/97a066223e440b8ead3da027b17d9e/frameset.htm]. Have you created a [BI System connection?|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce10/helpdata/en/7e/6dbcea3700452195e3bddaa47c5906/frameset.htm]
    Best regards,

  • Errror in RFC connection between SCM ABAP stack and JAVA Stack

    Hi All
we have installed SCM Abap stack and SCM java stack on same system within single database.when i create rfc connection AI_RUNTIME_JCOSERVER from SCM Java stack to SCM Abap Stack its working fine, but when i am configuring same from SCM Abap to SCM Java using SM59 its giving error.
Error Details     Error when opening an RFC connection

Is it compulsory to create RFC connection between abap and java installed on the same system.
    plese suggest.
    Regards

to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration  THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
Enter the required data on the page:
    system type: ABAP
    host name: FQDN
    System Nr: your instance number
    client (of the productive client)
and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).
    the click next
On the final screen, click finish.
You have now SSO setup between the ABAP and Java stacks. To configure SSO to accept java saplogontickets on ABAP see:

    This should resolve your question.

  • V.02 use different RFC connection

    Hello all,
We have a situation that when a user executes V.02 in R3 and then clicks on an incomplete Sales Document it jumps to the SCM system to do an APO Availability Check.  The problem is that it uses a RFC connection with a system user and when you are in the SCM system you've got full access.  Is there a way to force V.02 to use a specific RFC connection to jump to SCM so I can set that RFC connection to use current user and log into SCM as the same user that's logged into R3?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    > 2.2  Yes, I would like to setup a new RFC connection to SCM and set as a trusted RFC connection with current user but how do I force V.02 to use that specific RFC connection and not one that used for job...extractions..etc that has the system user in it?
There must be config which is calling the RFC function using a destination to the SCM system. Normally I just debug the call and look to see where the rfcdes value is coming from. I have also seen it hardcoded on a few occations using sy-sysid - also a form of config, even if a rather hollow one...
Personally I would try to group them into usage cases, and not necessarily "modules" or anything like that.
    > 1. Dont want to restrict the RFC user as it's used for jobs, extractions...etc.
    This is a nice example.
    Cheers,
    Julius
