  • Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application

    Hi Everyone,
I need your advise/help. I need to create a simple web application to do as below:
    1) Data Entry Form on web - Enter / Edit / Delete data i.e. order entry
    2) Save the data in BW cube or datastore
    3) E-mail to Managers for approvals
    4) Click a button to approve
    5) Retrieve the data from BW and show it as a web report
Is BI Integrated Planning / STS right tools for this kind of application?  If yes, can you please recommend some documentations?; if no, Which tool will be the best fit for this kind of requirement?
    Thanks a Million, Jin Freda

STS allows you to lock/release/approve one set of plan data (say many records). I thought your requirement is to approve individual order documents. configuring this in STS would be unnecessarily complicated I think.
Similarly IP is to work on a set of data (say all order quantity for a region or period), not for individual orders. Building all the checks and validations that you would probably want in an order entry may not be easy to build in IP.
VC or Webdynpro can't post to a infocube. They can certainly write to a transactional ODS (which probably would be a better place to write such data).
I have limited knowledge of your requirement so can't say whether it is a problem - probably not a show-stopper. If you are entering a set of orders in one go, may be IP is appropriate, but if you are looking for an application where users may be posting individual orders at random times, IP would be a bad choice I think.

I clicked on the firefox update & lost my old firefox page with my aol start & quick pick tool bar & this "new" page takes up more space so when I click on a different subject, I have LESS space to view it. . Why, WHY must you people always mess with things that were just fine. . I cannot eeven restore my computer to an earlier time, NOPE, won't do it. . So now what do I do ? ? Pete . . . God Bless . . . . I WANT MY PREVIOUS SETTINGS BACK ! ! ! ! !

The problem is with the page that opens at startup?
What does the new page look like? Can you paste the address into a reply?
Or if it doesn't have an address, maybe it's a page created by an add-on. Can you see any indication of the source of the page? Perhaps you could post a screen shot of what it looks like. This article has tips on that (make sure to delete to cover anything confidential): [[How do I create a screenshot of my problem?]]
To reduce content size, try the zoom feature: hold down the Ctrl key and tap the - key once or twice. If you want to reset the page to the standard size, you can hold down Ctrl and tap the 0 key once (zero).
But really we should get you back to the page you prefer, and hopefully with the additional details I requested we will be able to figure out what needs to get changed so you can do that.

  • Is there any tool for this?

    Hi,
We have so many chains and processes running on different servers together/parallel. Many of them are distributed through different time periods in 24 hours couse there are many countries using these processes.
I want to analyze the rush hours of systems to see how many dialog or background processes ran in certain periods of time. I want to see at which time of the day/week or month the system is busy and which time its free.
So i'm asking if there's an analyze tool which shows the time-system busyness so that i can decide which ist the best time for scheduling the new processes that i'm creating .

    Dogan.

    Hi Ed,
I did a test to increase the load on my database to monitor it in Enterprise Manager.
Aside from probably not having a large enough SGA (only 400M), what exactly does this mean?
    SQL> insert into space_test select level from dual connect by level <=1000000000000000;
insert into space_test select level from dual connect by level <=1000000000000000

  • I used to be able to ensure that a history of my browsing was not kept in previous versions through "tools", but this is apparently no longer an option in 6.0.2. How do I set browsing history to automatically delete or prevent it from being kept at all?

Maybe I just don't know what I'm doing, but in 6.0.2, all of the history keeping options no longer appear to exist...unless there's a hidden tools/options menu that I simply can't find.
If the only option for erasing browser history is to go into history and manually delete each line item, this version (6.0.2) is totally useless to me from a security perspective.
If anybody knows a solution SPECIFIC TO 6.0.2, please advise. I know that it's an easy fix in previous versions.
    Thanks!!!

You seem to be missing the Tools and Help menu items on the Menu bar.
Try the Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there. <br />
    ''A troubleshooting mode, which disables most Add-ons.'' <br />
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default Theme.)''
    * You can open the Firefox 4/5/6/7 SafeMode by holding the '''Shft''' key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or use the Help menu item, click on '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' while Firefox is running. <br />
''Don't select anything right now, just use "Continue in SafeMode."''
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shft key) to open it again.''
If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

  • Parsing Text, is automator the tool for this?

Hi gang, I would like to create a script to convert my work schedule that shows on the company website to iCal events. I am brand new to applescript and automator, so I don't even know if this is the toolset to do this, or if it's too complicated. Here's a snippit of my schedule:
    05DEC 5363 CVG 1315 IAH 1500
What I'd like the event to read is "5363 CVG IAH" at 1:15PM-3:00PM on Dec 5th. I'd like to have the website up and copy each event one at a time and alt-tab to automator to paste each line into an input box so it could parse the text, figure out 05DEC means 5th of December, then figures out that "5363 CVG IAH" would be the event and 1315 and 1500 are the start and end times (in military time). Too tough, or is it do-able? It would save a lot of time and possible errors if I could enter my schedule in by pasting each event verses manually typing the times, etc. Thanks in advance

If you read TD's answer carefully, it says
It cannot have the Library on a networked location, such as a NAS. iPhoto needs to have the Library sitting on disk formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Users with the Library sitting on disks otherwise formatted regularly report issues including, but not limited to, importing, saving edits and sharing the photos.
The main problem is the formatting of the drive - for Aperture holds the same: The library needs to be on a disk formatted MacOS X Extended. Otherwise you are risking inconsistencies in your Aperture library  and open a can of worms, see:
Use locally mounted Mac OS X Extended volumes for your Aperture library
If you absolutey want to store your Photolibrary on a NAS, you can create a writable diskimage formatted MacOS X extended on your NAS and store the library on this disk image. You will have to take care to automount the diskimage before you access Aperture. This will be tedious and slow.
The question, if you can put your Aperture library on a network volume is open to a debate, but I would not do it.
For a good performance the access to the Aperture library needs to be very fast - I'd put the library on the fastest drive you have, with a very fast port, Thunderbolt, for example. My library sits on a second internal drive.
Your network needs to be very stable, if you want reliable database transactions for your Aperture library.
    2. While you can run iPhoto in Referenced mode, with the Masters on a NAS and the library on a local disk, this is inherently unreliable. Here has more:
This is better in Aperture. Other than iPhoto Aperture has built-in tools to deal with referenced original files. So you can move the bulk of your image files to an external volume and keep only the Aperture library on your internal volume.

I HAVE TO ANALYZE ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE OF INTERNAL TABLES

    Hello Ansuman,
A program analysis begins at the first statement which is right after the last DATA declaration. For maintenance purposes this statement appears after the first EVENT. Such an EVENT can be e.g. START-OF-SELECTION, INITIALIZATION, AT USER-COMMAND etc.
In your thread only data declarations are shown. These declarations can be improved (for further performance issues) as well. All the table declarations should adhere the modern ABAP syntax, what means you should omit the obsolete OCCURS clause!
    E.g.
DATA : BEGIN OF MBEWTEMP OCCURS 10,
      MATNR LIKE MBEW-MATNR,
      VERPR LIKE MBEW-VERPR,
      ZPLP1 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP1,
      ZPLP2 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP2,
      ZPLP3 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP3,
    END OF MBEWTEMP.
should be replaced by something like
    TYPES: BEGIN OF TY_MBEWTEMP,
      MATNR LIKE MBEW-MATNR,
      VERPR LIKE MBEW-VERPR,
      ZPLP1 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP1,
      ZPLP2 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP2,
      ZPLP3 LIKE MBEW-ZPLP3,
    END OF TY_MBEWTEMP.
DATA: MBEWTEMP TYPE TABLE OF TY_MBEWTEMP,
              WA_MBEWTEMP TYPE TY_MBEWTEMP.
    FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs> TYPE TY_MBEWTEMP.
To achieve a better performance in your LOOP runs, the designed LOOP should look like:
LOOP AT MBEWTEMP into assigning <fs>.  "or into wa_mbewtemp
    MOVE <fs>-MATNR to <somewhere>.
    ENDLOOP.
Header lines shouldn't be used anymore. Using the assign clause, there is no additional data space needed. <fs> points directly to the current index in the internal table.
The most critical areas for a proper performance are the LOOP runs, the SQL statements (prevent selects in a LOOP!!) and data uploads from either a presentation server or an application server.
    Hope this helps,
    Heinz

  • Can I port labview 3.1.1 to latest ver 8.x is there a tool for this

Is there a tool to port a labview 3.1.1 app to latest ver 8.x

LV 8.x allows us to open any VI that is built using LV 6.x & upwards. So, you ve to convert them to an intermediate version like 6.x or 7.x & then you can open them in LV 8.x.
AFAIK, there is no toolkit available for this purpose.
Maybe you can contact someone in NI to do this for you.

  • Mac book pro has become very slow. How to analyze this and resolve this?

My mac book pro has become very slow. How to analyze and resolve this?

First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
There are a few other possible causes of generalized slow performance that you can rule out easily.
    Reset the System Management Controller.
If you have many image or video files on the Desktop with preview icons, move them to another folder.
If applicable, uncheck all boxes in the iCloud preference pane.
Disconnect all non-essential wired peripherals and remove aftermarket expansion cards, if any.
Check your keychains in Keychain Access for excessively duplicated items.
Boot into Recovery mode, launch Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk.
If you're booting from an aftermarket SSD, see whether there's a firmware update for it.
Otherwise, take the steps below when you notice the problem.
    Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
    Step 2
If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way you launched Activity Monitor. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Select the 50 or so most recent entries in the log. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). You're looking for entries at the end of the log, not at the beginning.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting. That should be easy to do if your extract is not too long.

  • Is the slice tool really this buggy?? (pics)

I am trying to create images for a website using the slice tool.
When I try to create a slice from selection, it looks ok on the artboard (pixel preview mode), but it shifts the whole slice when exporting!
What am i doing wrong? I have things set to 'align to pixel grid' in the transform options in the main toolbar at the top. I have the document DPI set to 72. And still, slices get misaligned.
ALSO: the slice select tool, when resizing a slice, seems to snap to invisible things!? I have snapping disabled in the View menu. What is the deal? Is slicing in Illustrator really that broken? Or am I missing something??
I've tried searching around the net and nothing seems to explain this strange behaviour..

    Hi Sinrise,
The problem with the save for web feature in both Illustrator and Photoshop is that png files can only be saved as full 24bit colour with true 8bit transparency - the user cannot save, for example, a 16 colour version with full 8bit transparency.
It means web "optimized" png versions that are output by Illustrator are often far bigger in file size than what is actually possible with other (free) web optimization utilities - at the same quality.
At this point Gif should be avoided (many reasons), and only be used for smaller animated web graphics. Gif does not support full transparency, only indexed, which means it is either on or off. No 50% transparency is possible in Gif. In the end Gif results in larger versions than Png anyway.
Jpg is perfect for photo work, but less than ideal for vector and sharp edged artwork, since it is a lossy format and will introduce fringes and rogue pixels and noise along edges. Even with a quality set to over 90% those noisy artifacts will be introduced in your artwork. And it generally results in much larger file sizes (the eagle head below is ~44kb, and still has noise and fringes everywhere at 85%)
Png is perfect as a bitmap format for illustrative sharp-edged artwork. It also supports full transparency both for true colour (24 bit) and 8bit (indexed) colour modes. And this is where the save for web feature fails abysmally: it does not allow us to save 8bit png files with full 8bit transparency - only indexed, like gif. So either on or off. Therefore tremendously limiting the use of the save for web functionality in both Illustrator and Photoshop.
Because with 8bit indexed png files we get fringes or ragged non-antialiased edges with transparent backgrounds.
Here is what I am talking about (open the original image to compare):
It means that I was able to produce a perfect fully transparent version that is SMALLER than Illustrator's 8bit version with indexed transparency in Color Quantizer!
Only Fireworks currently has the option to save png images with full transparency and indexed colours. And we know that FW is scrapped. Twisting the knife in the wound even more, Color Quantizer also allows the user to save limited colour palettes of 512, 1024, 2048 and 4096 colours! And a simple to use quality mask tool is available for difficult cases to safeguard essential artwork areas from degrading in colours!
Now, you might argue that we are talking about a difference in kilobytes - but I would say that my version loads up almost three times faster, and takes up three times less bandwidth. With more images on the page, it means my page's total bandwidth would be improved by 300%-400% (my experience) compared to designers working with Adobe products only.
And I have far more control over the exported and optimized colour quality, thus on top of that my work  looks better as well in many instances.
That is why I decided a long time ago to stop relying on Adobe products to do my web optimization. They are antiquated, and have not really been updated in a long, long time.
ps RIOT (Radical Image Optimization Tool) also does a better job at jpg optimization, and again the user has more control than the save for web option delivers.

  • I can't remember what tool performs this special trick...

Can anyone help me find a special tool in Illustrator CS5 that involves a trick where first, the user brings in an image outside of illustrator and clicks this tool in the menu or the toolbar that creates the same image (somwhat) in vector or rather converts it to vector I guess lol. I remember using this tool in class YEARS ago. But I can't remember what it was. I hope I made sense, please help me! Thanks!!

    Live Trace.
But if it was a while ago it could have been the Sillhouette plug in... or the Streamline applciation.

this is a class writed by me ,but now i have some problem with it
all the problems is focus on the following method:
public static ResultSet execQuery(String s,Connection conn)
    throws SQLException
    Statement statement = conn.createStatement();
    ResultSet resultset = statement.executeQuery(s);
         //statement.close();

    if the statement is closed ,the resultset will automatically be close;
if you don't close statement here i have two wonder:
1)after the method return the statement is local variable,it will died

If you don't close the ResultSet and the Statement, I think you may have an SQLException sooner or later, telling you there are no more cursors left.

  • Analyze THIS...

I am looking (begging actually) for help to understand the following peculiar AX behaviors:
First some background: My AX is configured as a base station, but can not acquire an IP address via DHCP, which I am pursuing with my network administrator, this is NOT the reason I am asking for help. Before the AX lost its ability to obtain an IP address, I noticed that my desktop could print to my printer connected (only) to the AX, or play music via the AX even if my AirPort card was NOT turned on. This seemed odd, but it was not causing me problems, so I did not investigate. However, now a bigger and more complex picture is beginning to unfold:
•Since the AX lost its ability to obtain an IP address, I can not print or play music from my desktop.
•My desktop (iMac G5) and both of my laptops (iBook G3 & PowerBook G4), all of which are running OS X version 10.4.8, can still connect to the AirPort network and connect to one another over this network.
•My laptops can both print, as well as play music through AirTunes via the AX, but they can NOT connect to the internet (although they used to be able to do this before the DHCP problem occurred).
•My Desktop computer (which normally connects to the internet via a direct ethernet connection to our campus WAN) can restart/update the AX using the AirPort Admin Utility ONLY if the ethernet cables are plugged in to both the computer and to the AX; but it can NOT print or play music. If the ethernet cable is disconnected from the back of the desktop, it still can not print or play music, but it CAN connect to the internet via the AirPort network!
It seems like my desktop prefers to talk to my AX via the ethernet cable for administrative purposes, and by the internet for accessing the printer & speakers. Yet my laptops comunicate with the AX wirelessly. Does anybody understand this? Whether or not I ever get the DHCP issue resolved, I would dearly love to be able to print & play music from my desktop (as well as from my laptops).
    Cheers,
    Robin.
