BI without portal

What can we get if implementing BI without Portal

Hi Shen,
Yes, if you mean BI 7, you can still use Bex 3.5 tools and use BW web app server to run the reports. you'll have the 7.0 version back end, and the 3.5-like bex reports.
Hope this helps.

• External Application without portal ?

Hi all
I have several applications built in JSP + BC4J , deployed in Oracle Application Server 10G (9.0.4) , operating system is windows 2000 server.
Application server middle tier and infrastruture are in the same server.
I have added all applications to SSO as External Application
I'm not using Portal, so, how can i make this applications "visible" to end user ?
Should i built and JSP page wich lists all External Applications, asks for login/password if authentication cookie not exits ??
is there any other way of doing it without portal ???
Best Regards
Rui Madaleno

Rui,
actually the External Applications implementation is completely separate from the Portal and does not require it to function. (The external Applications Portlet is a simple interface to expose the list of external applications.
If you are looking for a simple interface to expose the list, it is much as you describe. Building a simple Partner application which has links referencing the appropriate SSO server URLs. Storing the links in a table and simply querying them allows for a simple interface that can be secured/modified withour haveing to change the page itself.

• VC without Portal

Hi Experts,
I have got two questions for you.
1. Can I use Flex without VC? for example, is it possible to use flex with WAD 3.x?
2. Can I use VC without Portal, we don't have portal installed? Can anyone please explain me how VC works.
Any pointings will definitely be rewarded.
Points Gauranteed.
Please help.
--Ragu

Hi Raghu,
You can instal VC on O4s Portal .
There is no extra thing you can do to Work on VC with O4s Portal.
Just give like this Url to open your VC:http://<Hostname>:<Portnumber>/VC
Ex.http://pwdf2825.wdf.sap.corp:50000/VC
Before doing this makle sure all Require software is installe don ur Desktop i.e Adobe Flash Player ,SVG View and XML Parser.
And User with which ur opening should have VC Role.
Regarding NW7.1 is still in Development stage and i think SAP Not yet released into Market.
Kindly come back to me if u have still Problems.

Can anyone help to suggest how can I realize BW 7.0 workbook precalculation without portal.
Many thanks!
Best Regards,
Maggie

HI Maggie
There are two ways
1.distributing workbook via email (I think you are looking for this option)
2. to portal
You need precalucation server set up for the same .But i'm not sure whether we need portal for the same ,There is very good Howto on the same. Request you to go through it.
These are some OSS checklist from the same PDF
Implement OSS Notes:
857739 (Solves connection transfer
issues)
855220 (Solves gateway issues)
929005 (Solves errors of 2
workbooks being scheduled at the
same time)
930507 (Solves errors of having 2
instances of Excel running on one
server)
929799 (Solves gateway issues)
932649 (Solves rfc issues with
timing of multiple workbooks)
935063 (Solves corrupt workbook
issue)
These are REQUIRED for
Broadcasting to work properly. If
youu2019re running BW 3.5 SP17
(NetWeaver 2004s SP7), these are
already included.
2. . Make sure you've downloaded and
installed latest version of

When installing, make sure you have

• ECM without portal

Hi experts,
Would you please share the pros and cons of implementing enterprise compensation management (ECM) without portal. I am understanding that with Ehp5 one can issue the weblink right from WD4A, and one does not need iviews and the portal. Any input on this is highly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

SAP Portal facilitates integration and unified access of different types of applications, access control and Single Sign on.
If you have other applications to integrate then the use of SAP portal will benefit you.
If ECM is the only application you will be using, you may choose not to integrate into SAP Portal.

• SRM 7.0 without portal(EP)

Hi,
Currently my client is using SAP ECC MM for procure to payment solution. Now my client is evaluating the use of web procurement solution with SAP SRM Self-service procurement classic scenario. For Demo purpose we are planning to install SRM in a virtual machine and link to the existing ECC Development system or IDES system. Though we have enterprise portal and PI system but we donu2019t want to involve this two component at this moment.
I have few doubts:
1. As per the information in SDN and service.sap.com, SRM 7.0 (service package1) can run without Enterprise portal. Can
some one please guide how can I access various document such as shopping card, PO in SRM without portal ?
2. Can I use or access all SRM document without portal ?
3. Can POWL function will work without Portal ?
4. Do the screen of shopping cart without and with portal are same.
5. Two link SAP SRM Server 7.0 and SAP SRM Server 7.01 is available in service market place. Which one I should refer
for SRM without portal ?
6. Can you please suggest(link) which version or the software component I should use for SRM without portal ?
Thanks,

Hello,
Starting from SRM 7.0 SP05, we can have NWBC(Netweaver Business client) instead of the portal.
You can access and do most of the things which can be done in portal in NWBC. This NWBC doesnt need any new software component and it comes along with SRM. You just need to activate corresponding services in SICF.
After that you can access it from IE and URL looks like as below:
https://<<SERVER>>:<<PORT>>/sap/bc/nwbc/srm
There are a couple of notes and you can refer to them - just search for NWBC in Service Marketplace under component SRM and you will get most of the information needed.

• Lineage Report in OWB 9.2 without Portal

Hello,
I would like if there is a way to use the Lineage Report without having Portal installed. I try by starting the OC4J Instance, but the browser display the error page page cannot be found.
Any tips ?
Thanks
Claude-Alain

This is the quick write up on this:
If you want to use the browser locally, you have to set up an HTTP listener on the database. The one that ships as part of the 9i Enterprise
Edition database that you use for the design environment can be used for this purpose. You also have to create a database access descriptor that points to the
<OWB92> schema. To do that, make sure the HTTP listener is up and running (on a Windows platform, this is a service). Use a browser to navigate to the HTTP
server index by using http://<machine and domain>:<port number> (example: http://mwiel-pc.us.oracle.com:7778). Click on Mod_plsql Configuration Menu.
Click on Gateway Database Access Descriptor Settings. Click Add Default (blank configuration). Enter a Database Access Descriptor Name (for example, use
<OWB92>), Schema (use <OWB92>), Oracle User Name (use <OWB92>), Oracle Password (use password for <OWB92>) and Oracle Connect String (beware
that the connect string uses SID in the <host name>:<port number>:<SID> connect string, not Service name). The remainder of the properties can be left as is.
Click OK and close the browser.
To invoke it using the OWB menu, make sure you have the OC4J engine running, and you are ready to go. From Warehouse Builder... set the preference under project,
preferences (menu). Beware that for the local installation this only works if everything runs on one machine (design repository, respository database and http listener).

• Open "Manage Substitution Rules" without portal framework page

Hello,
when performing the "Manage Substitution Rules" function in the UWL a popup opens with the "Manage Substitution Rules"-iView in the context of the portal framwork page (that means Header and Detailed Navigation). I need to open this iVie "stand-alone" without the Header and the Detailed Navigation. Does anybody know how I can configure this?
Thanks and best regards,
Dominik

My idea would be to look to the XML configuration files in System admin -> System config -> UWL -> Manage item types.
Take look for example to file: uwl.standard.
You should find something like this there:
<Action name="launchSubstitutionManager" groupAction="" handler="SAPWebDynproLauncher" referenceBundle="SubstitutionManager" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="yes" launchNewWindowName="Substitution" launchNewWindowFeatures="width=800,height=600,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,status=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,directories=no">
<Properties>
<Property name="WebDynproApplication" value="UWLSubstitution"/>
<Property name="WebDynproDeployableObject" value="sap.com/tckmcbc.uwl.ui~wd_ui"/>
<Property name="DynamicParameter" value="uwlSessionId=${context.uwlSessionId}&configureGroup=${context.configureGroup}"/>
<Property name="System" value="SAP_LocalSystem"/>
<Property name="display_order_priority" value="uwlExcludeFromPreviewDetail"/>
</Properties>
</Action>
Maybe in your system this has been replaced with a new file with higher priority, and it has a different configuration. As far as I know, the above is pretty much the standard, and at least as far as I know in the standard the substitution pop-up does not have the header and detailed navigation etc.

• Implicit personalisation for tables - without portal

Hi,
Please let me know if its possible to simulate the feature of implicit personalisation of Webdynpro tables(NWDS 7.0) without a portal environment (by making use of any APIs).
Thanks!!
Lisha

Hi Stefanie,
I had a case when i will be using the WebAS java instance alone without any portal over it.
In such a case I was looking forward to use this feature somehow as it is quite useful and also takes care of persistence based on the logged in UME user.
Since its not possible as told by you, now I will have to achieve this using custom java code and also will have to take care of the persistence.
Thanks!!

• Using People Centric BSP without Portal Stylesheet

Hi,
we upgraded to CRM 5.0 (WAS 7.00 SP 10). Now we face problems with the company's portal stylesheet with our PC UI applications.
Has anyone around here an idea how we can use SAP standard stylesheet without modifying our system (for example in CL_HTMLB_CONTENT)?
Best regards,
Gerald

Solved by portal setting (stylesheet as parameter)

• Using On-line test without Portal

Hi
Is there a way to use on-line test without the portal? I need to upload test data into the system but we are currently not planning to install portal. I would like to use the testing and certification database (that online tests use) in R/3 as it seems to be the best fit.
Any suggestions?

Hi Manish,
You can view courses/tests using your company intranet instead of the Portal. You would install the LSO iView on the intranet - the Portal isn't required. That is the main reason the LSO uses just one IView and many BSPs. SAP did this internally for their first implementation of the SAP Learning Solution so it is tested.
Good luck,
Sharon

• How to open WD- Adobe form open in new window -without Portal header

Hi,
In my WD application -MAINVIEW , I made 2 different groups under ROOTUIELEMENTCONTAINER
GROUP1 -Selection fields with search button - with ROW LAYOUT
GROUP2 -INTERACTIVE FORM - with FLOW Layout
Basically when we click the Search button I get the form in the same view underneath GROUP1.
I am calling this WD application in Portal by giving the hyperlink via BSP application.So when they run the WD application now With portal headers it is still becomming heightwise small area.
Is there a way with which we can open form in completely new window without the Portal Headers?
Rgds
Vara

yes.. you can launch the form from a selection screen into a new window...
I am using this to launch an editable PDF from a selection screen into a new window. This code is placed on the event handler of my Create button on the selection screen.
DATA: str TYPE string,
l_window1 TYPE REF TO if_wd_window_manager,
l_cmp_api TYPE REF TO if_wd_component,
result TYPE REF TO if_wd_window,
lt_parms TYPE TIHTTPNVP,
ls_parms like LINE OF lt_parms.
ls_parms-name  = 'OPERATION'.
ls_parms-value = 'C'.
APPEND ls_parms to lt_parms.
CALL METHOD cl_wd_utilities=>construct_wd_url
EXPORTING
application_name = 'your_wd_application_here'
in_parameters = lt_parms               " <- any URL parameters you need to send
IMPORTING
out_absolute_url     = str.
l_cmp_api = wd_comp_controller->wd_get_api( ).
l_window1 = l_cmp_api->get_window_manager( ).
result = l_window1->create_external_window(
URL = STR ).
result->open( ) .
You have to be aware, though, that you will lose ALL your context data b/c you are opening a new user session. That's why I had to use url parameters to pass data to my form.

• Launch Portal iView without Portal Framework

We would have a requirement to send emails from our ERP backend system containing a link to say, release a purchase order. However, because we use single sign-on to the ABAP systems we can't just send a link to the BSP in the ERP system because no one would know their password. So instead I thought I would send a link to an iview in the Portal as everyone knows thier Portal password and we have SSO from the Portal to the backend systems.
My question is: How do I do this and get a window without all the Portal framework around it that could be viewed on a Blackberry? I've tried a URL like "http://portal_server/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content ..." but still get a standard Portal window. Setting options for the iview like "Display in separate window" or "Display in separate, headerless Portal window" doesn't seem to come into play using this approach.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Regards,
Tom Maggs

Hi,
1. Instead of using role navigation url you can use the static url of page or iview...
check this. [https://forums.sdn.sap.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1374857]
2. If you have to use navigation url then add &NavMode=3 to existing url.
http://portal_server/irj/portal?NavigationTarget=ROLES://portal_content ...&NavMode=3
This will open iview in headerless window

hii lozano,
The BEx Web Application Designer(WAD) is a desktop application for creating Web applications with BW/BI specific contents. Using the BEx Web Application Designer, you can create an HTML page that contains contents such as various tables, charts or maps. This HTML page (Web application) provides the basis for not only Web applications with complex interaction, but also for Web cockpits and iViews.
check the following threads on WAD:
