  • Dialog Step Number at SAP Workload Monitor (ST03)

    Hi.
We want to get a number of today's dialog step from SAP.
I know we can get a this number at ST03.
If we want to get a number from outside SAP, Which function module at SAP can return this number ?
    Any idea ?
    Regards, Arnold.

    Hi,
    - goto ST03N
    - choose Expert Mode
    - on workload section (top left), choose you server (or you can choose total too) and period (on your case select day)
    - choose today
    - on the right, tab frontend, the first column (#steps) will show you the number of dialog step performed by each user/ terminal.
    - if you choose instance tab, the first column (#steps) will show you summary the number of dialog steps on that server (or total)
    from SAP Help (F1)
    description of #Steps field :
    SAP Workload: Number of Steps
Number of transaction steps in the SAP System.
In a dialog task, one transaction step corresponds to a screen change; a request executed by the R/3 System for a user.
A background job can consist of one or more transaction steps, if several job steps are processed.
An update request triggered by a call from the dialog or the background corresponds to one transaction step, even if several updates are processed.
Several print requests are usually processed during one spool step.
The R/3 kernel generates a statistical entry for each transaction step; you can analyze the entries using the business transaction analysis.
    hope it help you.

  • Average processing time too long in workload monitoring (ST03N)

    Hi expert,
I wander why average processing time too long in workload monitoring (ST03N)
    for example
    avg.response time : 4700 (ms)
    avg.processing time : 4200 (ms)
    avg.CPU time : 300 (ms)
    avg.DB time : 200(ms)
OS (CPU and memory ) status is nomal.
please tell me why processing time too long and what do I check more.
    thanks

    Hi
Processing Time is the total time taken i.e. Time when user clicks on submit button to send data to SAP System till the time SAP System processes everything and shows the updated screen back to the user. It includes Network Time also.
Average Processing Time is the Processing Time per Dialog Step
In ST03N workload Monitor, there are different Task Type like Dialog, Background, RFC, Update,..........
Could you be more specific where do you find the Average Processing Time high ? I mean for which Task Type.
If you have users complaining for Performance problem check their Network Time also.
Let us know, if this information was helpful to you.

  • Workload analysis (ST03) - weekly report is missing

    Hi All,
We have a issue in ST03N transaction. I noticed the daily report for performnce analysis(responce time) is available but it is not available for weekly report. This is happening from last 3 weeks, previously I was getting the response time report for daily, weekly and monthly in tcode st03n. I am quite surprised that now it is only available for daily and monthly but not for weekly. I also checked the job SAP_COLLECTOR_FOR_PERFORMANCE_MONITOR which is running fine. I also trid to check the log from performance monitor collector, where it is only showing error occered Since <date> . There is not much information why the weeklly report is not available.
Is there anything where we can see why this different behaviour in statistics ? Please advice...
    Thanks in Advance

    Hai,
I guess somebody had reorganised MONI table, means deleted Contents of the Monitoring Database.
If this is the case the system will take sometime to build the values to show in terms of weeks and months.
    Please check the below link.....
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/EN/27/930e422dfcdc2ce10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm
Also the check the settings for collecting data for the workload monitor.

  • BI Workload info in ST03N

    Hi All,
We are not getting any information coming into the BI Workload area of ST03n
We recently completed an EHP upgrade on our BI 7.0 system to EHP1.
We donu2019t feel that this issue is EHP related but more down to someone in the dev team re-scheduling jobs.
We have re-scheduled all the jobs mentioned here:
We have also checked all the settings required within RSA1.
Does anyone know what job or function brings in the BI Workload data into ST03N? or know of a Help or SAP Note that might guide us in the right direction?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
    Paul

    Hi Paul
Do you have all the relevant reports in TCOLL table?
Please check the SAP note https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/966309
Content of TCOLL are release-dependent. Please search with "Content of TCOLL" and check the notes according to your release.

  • End-to-End workload monitor too slow

    Hello,
have anyone found that while working with end-to-end workload monitor the perfornance of webdrynpro is really bad and slowly ?
what tool can we use to check performance of solution manager end-to-end worload monitor ?
    thanks,
    Luis

    Hi Luis,
which LMService are you running ?
you could have a look at the Wily Introscope to check if there is any performance problem.
    Have a look at  document
Wily Introscope WebView User Guide 8.1

  • Workload Monitoring "Pending Requests"

I was monitoring a load test of my app under Workload Monitoring and noticed the "Pending Requests" column. I know this doesn't mean anything to anybody, but they averaged in the 90's...for a "light" load test.
What should this be? How do I tune? Are there OS parameters that would help? WebLogic configuration? I can't find much on it and I don't know what good or bad is...
    Thanks...

Generally this happens when the number of requests exceeds the
    number of available execute threads.
You may consider increasing number of the execute threads in WebLogic
if your load tests shows that the server CPU utilization is under 90% when
    the requests begin piling up.
You might want to run the application under a profiler to see if it is possible
to reduce request processing time by removing bottlenecks in the application.
    Hope this helps.

  • Analysis of Workload Statistics through ST03n

    Hello All,
I am monitoring performance of transaction Vl01n. The workload  table access statistics(St03n) for this transaction shows 0 modificatios, 0 direct reads, 0 sequential reads on table LTAK and has the top access time for the transaction (almost 90% of the total response time of the transaction).
My question here is that, <b>what other operation can cause such high response time when the Workload shows 0 modificatios, 0 direct reads, 0 sequential reads.</b>
Also the STAD data shows that this transaction has high response time with LTAK being the major contributor, when the Work process type Is <b>'U'</b>. Can we make assumptions that the operation being performed is Update?

    Hi Vijay,
well - no db accesses but still high response time?
Possibly RFC, NETWORK, PAGING, CPU, SERIALIZATION on shared resources... There are SO MANY possible for a high response time.
And yes, if the WP-Type is U then it's a UPDATER.
So, easiest step would probably be to perform a STO5 SQL Trace of the VI01n transaction. If it's about the database you'll find it out there.
If not, then it's perhabs time to open a support message.

  • About SAP standard reference value of the statistics data ST03N or ST03

    Dear all,
Did you have a reference value of the statistics data ST03N or ST03?
Because when I saw the statistics data, I realy could not analysis these statistics data, and I also did not sure the value of the statistics data was right or not.
Could anybody give me a good advice?
    Thanks a lot~

    Hi CX,
Glad to know you coming from Mainland China
Let me help you to check the very 'old' SAP training book BC315 2003 version on Chapter 4-18 it says:
n     If a problem is detected, the data in the Workload Monitor (Transaction ST03N) can be used as follows to identify the area of the system where the problem is located.
n     First check for general performance problems affecting all transactions. Good general  performance is normally indicated by:
    Ÿ     Wait time < 10% response time
Ÿ     Main menu (choose Transaction Profile) < 100 ms
n     In the Workload Monitor, the following values normally indicate good performance:
    Ÿ     Average roll-in time < 20 ms
Ÿ     Average roll wait time < 200 ms
Ÿ     Average load (and generation) time < 10 % of response time (<50 ms)
Ÿ     Average database request time < 40 % of (response time - wait time)
Ÿ     Average CPU time < 40 % of (response time - wait time)
Ÿ     Average CPU time Not much less than processing time
Ÿ     Average  response time - Depends on customer requirements – there is no general rule
The last statement is pretty much reasonable coz you cannot expect an old machine running latest SAP version like ECC 6.0 performs as fast as current big giant machine like IBM p5 595.
From my experience sometimes hardware upgrade/configuration is much easier than an SAP Basis to try to drain his brain to get the 5% performance increase. For example, an ECC 5.0 instance which using EMC storage was configured as RAID 5 initially, however later when it was configured as RAID 1+0 the performance increased a lot --- Bottle net was the storage.
Many cases like that...What I mean is that by maximum the hardware of the machine is the first thing to do for an SAP Basis... It's not surprised that a box is only utilized 40% of its memory, of course, by mistake.
Nice to know you again my Mainland friend I've been missing that hometown for long.
