BI4.0 Crystal Reports Enterprise - Citrix v proxy settings

Hi
When we install CRE4.0 on an individual desktop we have to manually set the proxy settings and also import a config file that has all the various server connections configured.
However, we also want to deply CRE4.0 on Citrix Metaframe.  We have doen this successfully but any particualr user still needs to manually set the proxy settings and import the server connections config file.
Is there anyway we can configure Citrix so that these settings are already configured for any particular user accessing CRE4.0 through Citrix.
Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,
the settings for the Eclipse Engine powering CR4E are saved under:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Business Objects\Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0\configuration14.0.2.364
(replace 14.0.2.364 with your appropriate build number)
While this would definitely be no supported way of doing it, I would try to create a configuration template for CR4E and roll it out to your users. Be sure to test it with one before "fixing" the whole As long as it works ... you should be fine with it.
Btw, proxy settings can be found in
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Business Objects\Crystal Reports for Enterprise XI 4.0\configuration14.0.2.364\.settings\org.eclipse.core.net.prefs

    Hi All,
Can you please let me know how can migrated the crystal reports from BO XI 3.1 to SAP BO 4.1 and after migrate how to open the crystal reports 2008 in CRYSTAL REPORTS ENTERPRISE 4.0.
can you please help on this and if document please share.
    Thanks,
    Rajesh

Use the upgrade management tool to move from 3.1 reports to BO 4.1. After migration, open the report in crystal enterprise 4.0, you will get a message saying that the report will be converted to latest version, will not be able to view from older version after converting. (Similar words- not sure exact words).

    Hi Parag,
The downloads are available in the below mentioned link:
    https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/bobj_download/main.htm
You need to go to BusinessObjects Tab to get details for BusinessObjects Products in SAP site:

Also as suggested by Ludek please post queries related to Enterprise in a separate link.
    Hope that helps!

Thanks for your quick response Henry....
I checked all this things and all are working fine.
Now I am able to connect to BOE server.
The cause behind the issue was in "CMC > Applications > Web
Service > Access URL:"  the URL was having different server name which we have changed earliar, I just correct the URL and issue got resolved.
But now when I am trying to access BOE Server through Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0 client tool directly not from launch pad, it probes me the same error. (Note: I used the same parameters which i got from launch pad token to this)
Is that a only way to use Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0 from launch pad ??

  • Should I install Crystal Reports Enterprise SP01 or SP03?

    Hi All
We are using BO 4.1 SP02 and are now getting round to installing Crystal Reports Enterprise. I have two questions I can't find answers for:
    1. Should I be installing SP01 or SP03 of CRE. Our BO platform is SP02, but there is no CRE SP02, so I should choose to go with the older SP01 or the newer SP03.
    2. We have 2 servers. The main one is for the bobj platform, the second is for Explorer. I want to install CRE and Dashboards alongside Explorer on the second server. Any know issues with this approach?
    Thanks everyone
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,
It is always recommended to install same versions of Client Tools as the BO Server.
I could spot both the incremental upgrade and the full build for Crystal Reports for Enterprise - SP02 on the Server Market Place.
This is where I found the full build:

  • Crystal Report Server 2008 vs Crystal Report Enterprise

    Dear all,
We're planning to publish crystal reports for end users generate themselves. We've installed the crystal report server 2008 in a testing server however I am confused "Crystal report server 2008" vs. "crystal report enterprise". When I look into the administrator guide, it keeps telling me how and what crystal report enterprise can do rather than crystal report server.
Are they the same product but different terminology?
Your help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rachel.

    Hi Rachel,
No, these 2 products are differents: Crystal enterprise is older as Crystal Server 2008, but the 2 applications have the same purposes.
You can find here all the products guides about the Business Objects (and SAP) products:
    https://websmp109.sap-ag.de/bosap-support-guide
In a sense, I understand that you are getting confused, as the documentation about Crystal enterprise is a great deal bigger as for Crystal Server 2008... For instance, I didn't find an "admin guide" for Crystal Server 2008, but you can find it for Crystal Enterprise!
I suggest you to download the Business enterprise XI 3.0 admin guide, as many of the "server features" in Crystal Server 2008 are based on this platform (portal integration, send reports via emails...)
I doesnt't find an ideal solution, and I fear you have to use a mix of 2 books in order to manage your application: the Crystal Enterprise admin guide and the Business enterprise XI 3.0 admin guide...
    Sorry,
    Wish you good luck !

  • Crystal Reports 2011 or Crystal Reports Enterprise - BI4 and SAP BW 7.3

We're using BI4 and SAP BW 7.3 - We'd like to have a CR execute a Bex query with hierarcal information. We've tried this with CR2011 and found the report somewhat slow. Would / should we be be using Crystal Enterprise?
We are always using data from SAP BW.
    Thanks
    Jesse

    Hi,
the clear recommendation is to use CR for Enterprise with the direct connectivity.
    take a look here:

    Crystal Reports and Hierarchies

User can use this application with Citrix and works fine. But when the what to print some documents the receive in Crystal Reports a error that the donu2019t have enough right to use this printer.
When the print to the same printer in Exact, the donu2019t have any problems.
The user connect to the server with Citrix program neighborhood and the have published apps, not a desktop.
The printer driver is already installed on the Citrix server.

I have tried with administrator credentials. And i receive exactly the same error as the users.

  • Two querybex Crystal Reports Enterprise

    good afternoon,
    My question is this
You can have more than two sources of data, rather
two querybex, crystal reports in Enterprise?
    thanks

    Hi,
You cannot create a report against multiple BEx queries. You can, however insert a sub-report that reports off another BEx query.

  • Migration from Crystal Reports 2008 to Crystal reports Enterprise(BOE 4.0)

    Dear all ,
I m currently doing a project on Crystal reports 2008 where datasource is mostly SAP BW queries.  Our customer will have BOE 4.0 in coming months .  I have heard that in BOE 4.0 Crystal reports for Enterprise will be a better option for BW datasources. Is that true? So here comes my question , Is  it possible to migrate reports based on Crsytal reports 2008 to Crystal reports for Enterpise 4.0  afterwards. What will be best option for us , shall we build further reports on Crystal reports 2008 or Crystal reports 2011 or should wait until we have BOE 4.0 ?
    Thanks
    Best regards
    Atul

    Hi,
We are going through the migration process from 2008 to Enterprise version. The only issue we are facing is the mapping of the Hierarchy nodeid and parentid. Other than that we were able to migrate most of the pieces from the report.
Here is the overview of migration process:
    1. When you run the upgrade manager to migrate objects from BOE 3.1 to 4.0 it will automatically upgrade it to CR 2011 version.
    2. You then have option to migrate it manually by opening the report in Enterprise version.
    3. If you open the report in Enterprise version it will prompt you to connect to common semantic layer wizard.
    4. Before that you have to have your datasource ready for that report depends on how your CR 2008 is connected. (can be BEx query or Relational Universe)
    5. If its BEx query you have to maintain the connection in CMC under OLAP connection to your BW system.
    6. Next thing is to map the Source fields to Target fields (BEx query or Relation Universe via IDT) and your report will be converted to Enterprise version.
    7. You might have to resolve if there are any errors.
Let me know if you have any particular questions if i can help.
    Thanks.

  • Dynamic url link for Crystal Reports Enterprise?

    Hi all,
We recently upgraded to SBOP 4.0 SP2 and are looking at migrating our existing Crystal Reports from Crystal Reports 2011 to Crystal Reports for Enterprise 4.0.
Up to this point we have been utilizing the BW Publisher and role menus in BW.
Our long term goal is to migrate users from the BW GUI to the BI LaunchPad but this will be a gradual process.
Until we make the final switch to the LaunchPad we need to maintain the links in the role menus. I found the Document Link option for Crystal Reports so I have a URL to point to the report that we can put in the role menu, but the system value is not dynamic. Is there a way to make this dynamic like we can do with web template URLs?
For example, when using a web template URL we can use the <bsp_server> parameter in the URL to determine the SAP system. Is there an equivalent that can be used in the Document Link for the Crystal Report to determine the respective SBOP system?
    Thanks.
    -Brian

  • Crystal Reports Enterprise 2011 Crystal Server 2011

    Hi,
I have created a ton of reports in Crystal Reports 2011 (Non-Enterprise). I have now installed and configured or at least try to configure the new Server software and Enterprise Edition of Crystal.
I am opening my local Crystal Files, they open, ask to convert, then a window pops up saying it cant convert.
I get prompted with a new data source connection window where everything is grayed out.
I have 1 SQL Query that I need to use and for the life of me I cannot find where to actually create it.
In examples I have seen and I have used previously in 2008 software I had Universes but either I have something incorrectly configured or its different and I'm lost

    Hi Rsheppick,
CR20011 and CR for Enterprise are fundamentally different. It is probable that these differences are behind the behaviour you are experiencing.
CR2011 is recommended to be used in scenarios where you need to leverage the current functionality that you received with CR2008, although is also has a few new features. Essentially you can migrate CR2008 reports as they are to a CR2011\BI 4.0 environment.
With CR for Enterprise the key difference is in the supported connectivity offered. CR for Ent supports the BI 4.0 universes (UNX), SAP BEx Query Data Access and Analysis Views. It does not support any direct data source connectivity i.e. RDBMS, SAP ERP, or OLAP connections - other than BEx Queries. These connectivities are tentatively targeted for BI 4.1.
So it is not simply a case of converting your CR2011 reports over to CR for Enterprise, you need to bear in mind the supported connectivity type of each reporting tool.
The general advice is that you can choose to use SAP Crystal Reports 2011 or SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise based on the features and connectivity you need and then move to Crystal Reports for Enterprise at your own pace.
Having said that I believe that reports created in the SAP Crystal Reports 2011 Designer should open in the SAP Crystal Reports for Enterprise Designer (this is a requirement so that the data connection can be migrated for the Enterprise stack in the future). So if your problem persists and is not covered by the information in this post then it would probably be a good idea to log a support message with SAP.
I hope this is a very helpful answer for you.
    Kind regards,
    John

  • Crystal Report Enterprise 4.0 reports on SAP BW 7.1 Qry with Analysis Auth.

    hello everyone,
We have created a crystal report using CR Enterprise 4.0 using a connection published (SSO enabled) in BOE repoitory on a SAP BW 7.0 EHP1 SP6 query. The underlying query has Analysis Authorization at place and variables are processed by authorization. We have also enabled SSO between BOE and BW server.
But when execute the report in BI Launch Pad, we get the following error
{bold} The viewer could not process the event.Failed to execute the query: '<java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: NO SelectionStateSupport! V8>' .Redesign your query or contact your data source maintainer to solve the problem [JRC00005372]
    Error Code: 0 [CRWEB00000119] {bold}
'V8' is technical name of variable on characterstic with authorization processing.
*We have given the rights of the connection to the users.
*We get the same error either we login using BOE Authentication or SAP Authentication.
*Web Intelligence reports on simillar query are working properly in the above mentioned scenario.
    thanks and regards
    Sushant Jain

    Hi Don,
    Thanks for your reply.
This is regarding CR Enterprise 4.0.
We have not re-imported the BI 4.0 transport files in our BW server, instead the older ones (of XI 3.1) are residing on BW server. But if I'm right then I think transports are relevant only while working with CR Designer 2008/2011 and not with CR Enterprise.
    Hi Ingo,
    Thanks for your reply.
-Yes, query is working perfectly fine in RSRT showing the data as per the respective User Authorizations on respective InfoObjects' values.
-Yes, the InfoObjects are restrcied by the means of Variabvle (with 'Authorization' Processing type, 'Varaible ready for input' unchecked, 'Optional' Variable) and are put in Characteristic Restriction area.

    Sushant

  • Crystal Reports 8.5 and Ms-Sql in Citrix Environment

    Hello All:
I have a VB application that accessed data from a SQL-2005 database.  We use Crystal (8.5) for several reports. On the network or using VNC viewer all the reports work fine. However when we access te reports from Citrix client, none of the can access the data.  We get a error message saying that the ODBCconnection cannot be found. I dont see how this could be the problen since everythng else works, includng ading and updating data.
What do I  need to do to get this working?
    Thanks in advance.

There is a document for Crystal Reports in Citrix environment written for exporting error, but I think it could be applicable for your situation.
    I quote it here:
"... errors occur because Citrix Server and Terminal Server use the User Path Variable rather than the System Path Variable for clients.
    Solution:
This solution has been written for Crystal Reports 8.5. The directory path to the Crystal folder may be different in other versions. For example, in Crystal Reports 9, copy files from c:\program files\Common Files\Crystal Decisions\2.0\bin to winnt\crystal.
By default, the Crystal Reports export drivers (DLLs) are installed to the %systemroot%\Crystal directory (generally C:\Winnt\Crystal), which is not included in the User Path Variable. Each user will have a specific User Path Variable making it difficult to update each one.
    Steps to Resolve:
Therefore, to resolve these issues, copy files from the Crystal directory to the Citrix Serveru2019s or Terminal Serveru2019s System directory.
    1. Copy the files from the following directory:
    %systemroot%\Crystal
    CAUTION
Do not delete the %systemroot\Crystal directory. Other Business Objects products may require this directory.
    2. Paste the files to the System directory. For example, in Terminal Server, the System directory is generally:
    Winnt\System32
    NOTE
Verify the correct directory location in your environment.
With the DLLs in the System directory, the User Path Variable will be able to locate them. The error messages should be resolved and exporting should be successful."
