BI4.1 setting

Hi all,
We got 4 CPU for setting the new BI4.1. What's the best practise
on setting the environment? It’s set up as one platform or set up as cluster to
have 2CPU on each cluster?
Thanks,
Jiang

  • BI4.1 SP02 Installation Stuck on "Adding Web Intelligence Sample"

    Hi,
    I am in Panic, I am upgrading my BO4.0 SP04 to BI4.1 SP02. My existing BI4.0  system is clustered. Two clustered CMS running in Machine1 and machine2.
    I am running the 64 bit BI4.1 SP02 installer in Machine1.. Almost 80% of the installation is done. But for last 7 hrs, the installation is stuck on "Adding Web Intelligence Server". I have checked the log file in D:\BusinessObjects4\InstallData\logs\2014.05.03.10.36.01. Following is the last few lines from the log. Please help me.

    Looks like the CMS has not fully started, or not started at all.  There is a point before this that it attempts to logon to the CMS, did that succeed?
    If not, is the cms database local to one or both cms hosts?
    If the cms database is hosted on a separate server check the response time, for oracle this is done with tnsping.  If over 5ms response time this slows things down.  Over 10ms gets into problems.
    If the database is on the other side of a firewall this can also contribute.

  • Error in BI4 SP04 Olap Analysis Using Portal iview list template

    We are trying to host the BI Launch Pad BI4 SP04.1 in the SAP Enterprise Portal (7.3.1.Sp04) on AIX 6.1 using the SAP Business Objects Document List Template, but getting an error when trying to use Olap for Analysis.
    When previewng the iview from the portal, the bilaunch pad is opened and the main page is displayed
    Then we select the icon Analysis for Olap, select an Olap connection and receive error in
    message box titled 'Analysis Edition for Olap'
    Login Failed. Invalid, User Name or Password
    It seems to be problem with SSO token back to the SAP portal.
    We have SSO configured from BI4 SP04.0.1 to BW 7.3.1. SP04 and can login to the launch pad using SAP authentication with the same account.
    The security on the OLAP connection is everyone - view.
    If we change the Olap connection authentication to pre-defined from SSO, Olap Analysis works correctly from the portal iview, but of course the permissions are not acceptable. Further, we set SSO to false  from the global.properties file and restarted tomcat.  We can then start the launchpad from the Iview in the portal and are prompted for manual logon, use SAP authentication and Olap for Analysis runs correctly as the same user we tried previously.
    However, our requirement is to use SAP authentication and SSO from the portal to BI4 and not logon on manually.
    I have entered an OSS message for this issue and making little progress there.  If you have made this work or have some ideas you can share, I would be very grateful!

    Just want to update with more information-
    Again, from the enterprise portal through the ivew - BO Document List template,
    Connects through to BI Launch Pad without having to login-using the BW ABAP credentials
    Then we try to open a webi document with an olap connection that has sso authentication instead of pre-defined user, we do not get the same user login failed message, the page is just blank
    But if I login directly to bi launch pas with the same SAP authentication that was used with the enterprise portal, and bring up the same webi document, the report is displayed as expected.
    Anybody successfully use the BO document list ivew using Olap connections with SSO and not just a pre-defined user?

  • Import and Export Universe Restriction Sets

    Hello Gurus,
    We have a universe which has 100+ Restriction sets. We are in the process of migrating & testing BI4.0. As the developments are still going on in 3.1, Its getting difficult to manage the secuirty(Restriction sets) to deploy in multiple environments.(Restriction sets)
    Is there a vb macro or pre-defined SDK to import and export the Universe Restriction sets from 3.1 Universe Designer to 4.0 Designer.
    Thanks !!

    Why cant use merge them using union/union all if intention is to get them to same sheet? Is it like the metadata is different so that they cant be merged to single sheet?
    If that being the case you need to do it in two steps.

  • Setting the Isolation Level to Read Uncommitted

    Hello All,
    We are using BO XI r3 and SQL Server 2008. I would like to change the isolation level of the connection to read uncommitted. There are 2 options that i could by Googling..
    1. Making changes in the SBO file... this didnt work
    2. Making changes in the connectinit... even this didnt work
    i am not sure if there is anything else to done...  but i tried quering a table with a lock, the report got stuck so i am guessing that the settings didnt work

    Hi
    this is the only method for changing the transaction isolation level.
    Locate the path to your odbc.sbo file
    Click the connection in UDT and when server responds Click the Details button

  • How do I set color in IndexColorModel for Graphics

    I can't find a reasonable way to set the color so my test code is below:
    The IndexColorModel, BufferedImage, and Graphics2D construction is:

    This doesn't work so well, but it sort of works.

    Are you talking about ePubs or iBook Author which is a similar but separate application.
    Pages doesn't have spreads, you have to construct the adjacent pages with each half of any textboxes or images on the left and right hand pages of a spread.

  • WebIntelligence report on top of bex Query in BI4.0 (SP2)

    Dear experts,
    I'm working on webi report on top of bex Query in BI4.0 (SP2). I would like to know your opinions about some points I have noticed.
    A - I need to drill throught a hierarchy which contains several millions of members.
    Is there a possibility in my report drilling down to one member without selecting all members of the hierarchy in the query panel ?
    B - I cannot put a dimension with hierarchy both in the result pane and in the filter pane, although it is possible for any other dimension without hierarchy.
    Is there any special trick to achieve this or is a bug??
    C - I cannot sort variables defined in my bex query, but they don't appear in the window to sort prompts.
    Do you know how to solve this issue ?
    D - I noticed all keys and description of dimensions appear with the same label "key" and "text". SO it is very confusing for the user to understand what key or text means (if a key if the customer key or the company code key).
    Any idea to have a more explicit label for BW characteristics?
    Regards.
    CL.

    Hi,
    I do not have access to a BW system to test this, but i have something on three of your questions...
    A) drilling without getting all the lower members. I would look to query drill, this means a drill action in the report will go to the database to fetch the level (and only for the selected member, a drill down).
    The only thing I'm not sure about is if the BEx hierarchy is seen as drill hierarchy by that option too.
    If you'd ask me it really should.
    C) this is an old problem, but I know it is bugging more people, because the same is true for universe based prompts. They also cannot be 'arranged'. Since the Bex query is the 'universe', ordering that has been set in the 'universe' is the only chance you have.
    Like with the universe you could use prefixes to separate them from the query defined prompts (based on an alphabetic sort of the prompt message). I'd say this is a good one for the idea place...
    D) also an old (very old actually) problem. Some will want to keep the text short and simple. The prefixing will tell which key it is. Some will prefer unique names, so no prefix is needed. The same was true for universe designers. Now since there is no universe, if you do not agree with the 'designer' you're out of luck  no way to change it.
    Hope this helps,
    Marianne

  • SAP Bex Bi4.0 Integration - Data delegation

    Hi Experts,
    SAP Bex Bi4.0 Integration
    The Key Figures which uses Standard Aggregation or exception aggregation in SAP Bex appear as Data Delegated in Webi.
    Thus we are unable to add any conditions on such variables which lead to "#Unavailable" error.
    Is there any solution or work around for the same??
    Many Thanks
    Akshay

    What is your BO version? If you are above SP4, this issue should not be a problem with SUM aggregation type Key Figures.
    If you are still having problem, you can create variables and set it as Detail object to related dimension. In your report block, you can put both the dimension and your detailed variable. After that, hide the dimension.

  • Cannot build the query or generate the report - BI4.0 Dashboard on WebService Error

    Hello All,
         I am trying to create a Dashboard with WebService connections in SAP BI4.0 SP04. While running the dashboard I am receiving the error, Cannot build the query or generate the report. I have already set the refresh parameter to TRUE (bound to an excel cell and I have tried with 1 also). Back end WebI Reports of the BIWS connections are created from BEx queries through BICS connection. I have two prompts to run the Web Service and the report. Please share your thoughts regarding this.
    Thanks and Regards,
      Debajyoti Dan

    Hi All,
        I have found the issue. The problem is coming only when I am receiving prompts from BEx query and trying to use them through dashboard. I replaced these BEx prompts with the same in WebI report. Then the entire functionality started working correctly from dashboard.
    But, this is only a work around and can not be applied at all times. So I have raised a message for the same to SAP. I will update the thread based on what I receive from SAP Support.

  • BI4.1 SP2 JRE error

    Hi,
    Attached is the client JVM trace containing an error that occurs when i try to modify some of my documents in java mode.
    The error is triggered exactly when i try to show the header and/or the footer in page mode on a report.
    As a result the report freezes and is not usable anymore.
    I tried with different JRE on my client, from 1.6u26 to 1.7u51, with same result
    Any idea?
    thanks
    Xavier

    Hi,
    1. "i just noticed that the hied/show header button in page setup has no influence on any report.  The header/footer is visible anyway."
    I concur the same thing on my BI4.1 SP03 Launch Pad and Webi rich client.  The header and footer will hide and show only if you are in "Structure Only" Design mode.
    2. I notice that your JRE exception occurs at
    "http://XXXXX:8080/BOE/portal/1405211101/AnalyticalReporting/webiApplet/lib/cvom_chart_lib.jar, version : null]
    basic: Plugin2ClassLoader.getPermissions CeilingPolicy allPerms
    Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-2" java.lang.NullPointerException
          at com.sap.webi.ui.viewer.ui.BorderPainter.paintComplex(BorderPainter.java:123)..."
    Can you check if you have -Djava.awt.headless=true defined in your Java web server Java setting?
    Hope this helps,

  • Date selection error BI4 infoView

    Hello community,
    I’m facing a problem here and I am looking for your help
    After migration to BI 4 I faced a problem with date selection prompt (In infoView) when I open or refresh a report.
    For example, If I select 02/02/2013 00:00:00, the system change the input to 01/02/2013 23:00:00.
    This is very urgent please help me

    This is a bug in 4.1 which is logged with ADAPT01710199
    Check the note below
    930605 - BI4.1 - The time stamp in the prompt is changing every time on refreshing the report in HTML Mode of WebI Report
    Following are the fixes for Business Intelligence Platform 4.1
    BI 4.1 SP01 Patch05
    BI 4.1 SP02 Patch01
    BI 4.1 SP03
    BI 4.1 SP03 Patch1
    BI 4.1 SP04
    For a possible workaround, the Java Application server hosting BI Launchpad can be set to run using the UTC timezone to prevent time offsets in the prompt.

  • Migrating from BI4.0 SP7 to BI4.1SP4

    Hi,
    I have set-up a new Test Business Objects server and installed BI4.1 SP4 in it and I am now planning to migrate content from our live Server (BI4.0 SP7) to our test system. I have tried using upgrade management tool and tried Live to Live and BIAR to live and got a message saying that the source should be an older version.
    Can any one please help me how to migrate all the content from BI4.0 SP7 to BI4.1 SP4? I am trying to migrate reports, universes, connections, users/groups calendars, events and QaaWS?
    This is the first time I am doing it, so any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Omprakash

    Hi,
    BI 4.0 Support Pack 7 forward fits to BI 4.1 Support Pack 2
    BI 4.0 Support Pack 9 forward fits into BI 4.1 Support Pack 3
    so you should be OK.
    however, perhaps using UMT isn't the right choice here - you're not coming from XI3.1
    are you able to use LCM/ Promotion Management via the command line interface , as described here: http://scn.sap.com/community/bi-platform/blog/2013/12/03/41-sp2-has-lots-of-performance-improvements

  • Xorg 1.10.1 no longer affected by manual DPI setting

    I use my 23 inch 1920x1080 monitor as TV also. As this means I sit rather far from it, I manually set DPI quite low to enlarge windows and fonts by default. However after the last upgrade, which brought Xorg 1.10 and Gnome 3, Xorg seems to no longer be affected by my setting DPI in xorg.conf. The logs show that the value is read, and xdpyinfo shows the DPI I have set manually, but this setting no longer seems to affect any windows or fonts.
    The DPI is set via the nvidia driver. Relevant parts of xorg.conf and the full Xorg.0.log are attached.
    Does anyone know what could have caused this?

    I seem to have been unclear in my original post. Setting it in Gnome 3 would all be fine and dandy, however although Gnome 3 was installed (upgraded from 2.x), I use fvwm. Gtk etc is still used but I don't see why upgrading a DE I don't use would impair another WM from using the X11 DPI settings. Also changing that setting in Gnome 3 does not affect neither the login screen (GDM) nor anything in fvwm.

  • HOW TO SET UP PARTNER APPLICATION TO USE SSO OUTSIDE OF PORTAL

    If anyone knows how Portal switches context to run as the db user mapped to the lightweight schema and how it knows the db schema password please let me know.
    Should you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me on 07775 896738.
    From document Oracle Portal Security Overview on PortalStudio.oracle.com:
    In Single Sign On mode (EnableSSO=Yes in the DAD), mod_plsql determines the name of the light-weight user and mapped database schema by calling
    WPG_SESSION_PRIVATE.GET_LW_USER and WPG_SESSION_PRIVATE.GET_DB_USER respectively.
    ** These calls are done using the Portal Schema (PORTAL30) and Portal schema password **
    mod_plsql then executes the procedure in the requested URL by using the N-Tier Authentication feature to connect to the database as the user returned from
    WPG_SESSION_PRIVATE.GET_DB_USER. ..... Note that N-Tier Authentication requires all schemas to be used for Portal user mappings to be granted 'connect
    through' privleges to the Portal schema (PORTAL30).
    The WWCTX packages are also used.
    So this is how it works with standard Portal
    - the document states that the WPG_SESSION_PRIVATE package is only accessible to the Portal schema
    - but I checked and it is also available to PORTAL30_SSO
    SQL> desc WPG_SESSION_PRIVATE

    Argument Name Type In/Out Default?
    P_COOKIE_NAME VARCHAR2 IN
    FUNCTION GET_DB_USER RETURNS VARCHAR2
    FUNCTION GET_LW_USER RETURNS VARCHAR2

    In my case only the Login Server (PORTAL30_SSO) is going to be used/installed
    - the SAMPLE_SSO_PAPP application will only work if the DAD used to access is it set to use Basic authentication, i.e. the actual integration with the Login Server
    is done in the sample application code calls, stored in the database
    - when a DAD has enableSSO=yes it automatically accesses Portal (PORTAL30) packages to implement N-Tier authentication
    I'm currently testing:
    1. Configuring the SAMPLE_SSO_PAPP sample as documented with a DAD with Basic authentication
    2. Amending the ssoapp procedure to set context to another (db) user on successful authentication:
    wwctx_api.set_context (
    p_user_name => 'SCOTT',
    p_password => 'TIGER' );
    3. If this works then set_context with get_lw_user instead
    I have now amended the ssoapp procedure as follows to print out
    1. The userid entered when the login box is presented
    2. The Database user which the Portal Lightweight user is mapped to
    3. The Lightweight user Portal has used for authentication
    Amendments to papp.pkb:
    (ssoapp procedure, declare db_user_info and lw_user_info as VARCHAR2 in declare section)
    htp.p('Congratulations! It is working!<br>');
    db_user_info := wwctx_api.get_db_user;
    lw_user_info := wwctx_api.get_user;
    htp.p('User Information:' || l_user_info || '<br>');
    htp.p('DB User Information:' || db_user_info || '<br>');
    htp.p('LW User Information:' || lw_user_info || '<br>');
    The following shows the interesting results from my testing:
    - if the user owning the sample_sso_papp package is PORTAL30_SSO then the call to wwctx_api.get_db_user succeeds
    - if the user owning the sample_sso_papp package is a non-portal schema e.g. SSOAPP below the call to wwctx_api.get_db_user generates a User Defined exception
    Steps to test:
    Created new schema SSOAPP on the database
    - edited it in Portal and checked the use this schema for Portal users checkbox
    - created new Lightweight user SSO_LW in Portal, mapped it to SSOAPP schema
    - created new Lightweight user SSO_SCOTT in Portal, mapped to SCOTT schema
    - loadjava -user ssoapp/ssoapp@portal30 SSOHash.class
    - sqlplus portal30/portal30@portal30
    @provsyns ssoapp
    - sqlplus ssoapp/ssoapp@portal30
    @loadsdk.sql
    @loadpapp.sql
    Created DAD with basic authentication SAMPLE_SSO_PAPP
    - username: ssoapp
    - default home page: sample_sso_papp.ssoapp
    Registered the Sample SSO Partner Application with the Login Server and ran regapp.sql
    Commented out the calls to get_db_user in papp.pkb to avoid exception
    - called http://<server>/pls/sample_sso_papp
    - logged on as SSO_LW/sso_lw
    - got output:
    Congratulations! It is working!
    User Information: SSO_LW
    LW User Information: PUBLIC
    So the Portal lightweight user is not returned as SSO_LW
    if anyone knows why the Lightweight User in my test is returned as PUBLIC not SSO_LW
    Best Regards
