  • ISE 1.2 and MDM integration.

What kind of device information I can collect by MDM integartion with ISE.

    Hello,
ISE  Release 1.2 delivers integration between Identity Services Engine and  MDM platforms, which can ensure that all mobile devices are compliant  with security policy before they are allowed to access the network. This  feature enables posture compliance assessment and network access  control of mobile endpoints attempting to access the network. The  solution also performs ongoing posture checks to ensure that devices  remain compliant and that the correct network access level is  maintained. The specific posture attributes collected by MDM partner  platforms for compliance and access policy enforcement in the Identity  Services Engine are:
    • Is the mobile device registered with MDM?
    • Does the mobile device have disk encryption enabled?
    • Does the device have PIN-Lock enabled?
    • Has the device been jail-broken/rooted?
In  terms of global compliance, posture compliance decisions may be made by  the MDM platform instead of the Identity Services Engine. In this  scenario, additional attributes such as blacklisted applications or  presence of an enterprise data container may be checked. The MDM  platform simply informs the Identity Services Engine if a device is in  compliance, then the Identity Services Engine enforces the appropriate  network access policy.
This  integration brings great value to MDM customers as it automates to the  device registration process. As MDM solutions are network-blind, they  can't detect a new device when it connects to the wireless network, so  the administrator needs to send a notification to the users who wish to  enroll their devices. With ISE integration, device enrollment is done  automatically when users connect their device to the Wi-Fi network.
SNS appliances are now available with ISE 1.2 in SNS-3415-K9 and SNS-3495-K9 appliances.

  • Artesia and MDM Integration

Has anyone enabled the link between Artesia digital asset management (DAM) tools and MDM?  We keep all our product images in Artesia (tool is called TEAMS) and would like to point our MDM-based product info repository to Artesia so that we don't need to import images directly into MDM.
Also, we use Documentum for management of our product literature. Does anyone have experience integrating MDM and Documentum?
    Thanks.
    Mike Jakeway
    Lead Technical Analyst
    Whirlpool Corp.

    Hi Michael,
I have come across the similar case once but not using DAM.
First let me understand your requirements clearly.
You dont want to import images to MDM repository. Instead you want to point the product data stored in MDM to its corresponding image stored in DAM.
This is simple if your environment is applicable to any my assumptions mentioned below.
    My assumption 1:
You have implemented DAM tool for managing images newly and no application or data base linked with DAM.
    My suggestion 1:
Artesia should be storing images in a database with a field for "image id" right? In that case we can add a new field for "Product id" in the DAM database (if not exists) and map the image in the DAM with the Product data using "Product id" field from source data (DAM) and "Product id" field in MDM. Syndicate MDM with DAM database. So that when ever you add a new product data, a new product id will be added in your DAM database.
    My assumption 2:
You have already inplemented DAM tools and developed application (Say .Net) for managing the product data. Now you are planning to move the product imformation to MDM and view the product detail in the portal (Say SAP EP) iview.
    My Suggestion 2:
If you are planning to view the product data and images in the portal, we can develop coustom iview which retrieves product data from MDM and image data from DAM.
Same case appicable to Documentum management.
Let me know in detail if have some other scnarios.
    Thanks,
    Prabhu

  • CC&B and MDM Integration

    Dear Friends,
Currently we are using ccb 2.3.0 and MDM 1.6.0 versions
1.How we can integrate CC&B and MDM ,
    2. what are various possible ways of integration and components required for the same
pls recommend the latest versions if integration becomes easier
    thanks and regards
    sivaram

The new MDM 2.0.1 version has some integration functionalities build in.
MDM 2.0 has introduced a concept called "Seeder" this is more or less an XAI Integration.
Since version 2.0.1 you have a Seeder for IMD import and master data synchronization.
You can review the documentation (Framework_Administration_Guide_v4_1_0) if you are interested in details.
    Check chapter "External Application Integration".
The suggested way is to setup OSB for message routing and transformation and XAI to publish/subscribe the integration
    messages.

  • MDM catalog integration with SRM 7.0

    Hi all,
We will be upgrading from SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0
We currently have CCM .....Few questins on catalog enablement for us with SRM 7:
1.With SRM 7,0,can we use CCM oor MDM is the only option???
2.Is it better to have MDM as a seperate server and enable SRM MDM catalog content?
3.We have 2 punch out catalogs for 2 vendors. How to enable the punch out catalog links in SRM 7.0???What is the path for IMG config??
    4. We have around 20 internal supplier catalogs .Now should we upload few of the supplier catalogs and then upload rest or can we upload all the suuplier catalogs at once through IMPORT MANAGER in MDM ???What are therestrictions in terms of the no of catalogs or catalog data that can be improted and mapped ???
5.What are additional features in SRM MDM 3.0 catalog  in contrast to CCM??
6.The backend master data such as Supplier/Porg etc.....how is that synchronised from SRM to SRM MDM catalog???Is it through some scheduled programs???
7.What is the use of PI/XI in enabling SRM MDM catalog??Why is it mandatory??
    8. What are the allowed file types for cataog data upload in MDM???Like it was CSV in CCM...
    9. Where can I find some sample catalog files for test upload?
10.What are the lastest SP for MDM available for integration with SRM 7.0??
    11. after price changes from supplier(thru negotiation),are these price changes to be updated manually for indiavidual items/products through MDM data manager or is there any way to automate this delta update for price in MDM???
12.Also maintaining catalog data in MDM for SRM procurement will be a seprate actibity just like maintaing catalog in CCM??
I have gone through the help links but wud like ansers to above ques based on experiences of the forum members...Please provide inputs to my above queries if anybody has worked on MDM catalog integration with SRM 7.0....
    Thanks for your time.

    HI,
1.With SRM 7,0,can we use CCM oor MDM is the only option???
You can use any catalogs which support SAP OCI interface.
2.Is it better to have MDM as a seperate server and enable SRM MDM catalog content?
MDM Server(contents) and AS Java(for UI) are required. Please check the installation guide.
3.We have 2 punch out catalogs for 2 vendors. How to enable the punch out catalog links in SRM 7.0???What is the path for IMG config??
Same as SRM 5.0. Define External Web Services.
Yes. You can use Import Manager. No issues.
6.The backend master data such as Supplier/Porg etc.....how is that synchronised from SRM to SRM MDM catalog???Is it through some scheduled programs???
      MDM Extractor is available.
7.What is the use of PI/XI in enabling SRM MDM catalog??Why is it mandatory??
      Mainly for contents mapping.
    8. What are the allowed file types for cataog data upload in MDM???Like it was CSV in CCM...
Any. Even for DB interface is also supported. You see all options when you run import manager.
    9. Where can I find some sample catalog files for test upload?
Sample repository definition is delivered. You can manually create 1 entry by Data Manager.
10.What are the lastest SP for MDM available for integration with SRM 7.0??
You can find it SAP Service Marketplace. http://service.sap.com/swdc
    11. after price changes from supplier(thru negotiation),are these price changes to be updated manually for indiavidual items/products through MDM data manager or is there any way to automate this delta update for price in MDM???
You can use contract and contract items are transfered to Catalog.
12.Also maintaining catalog data in MDM for SRM procurement will be a seprate actibity just like maintaing catalog in CCM??
      Yes. Catalog is just Catalog.

  • SRM and MDM for material master in SRM contracts for multiple R/3

    Dear all,
    my question is:
We are implementing SRM 4.0 in classic scenario with multiple R/3 back-end and we want to set-up Global Outline Agreements in SRM in a multi-backend environment where the Material Master are not harmonized.
We heard that MDM and COntent Integraton can be a solution.
    Then detailled question is:
Can we have 2 material numbers (e.g. ABC and XYZ) in 2 different R/3 systems refering the same product.
Have the mapping done in MDM (Content Integrator?) to a third material number:123
Replicating the material master 123 to SRM from MDM(?)
Create global Outline Agreements in SRM for Material Master 123.
Distribute the GOA as Outline Agreement to R/3 system 1 with the translation to ABC and to R/3 system 2 with the translation XYZ, all of that during the distribution step (or another).
Have the call-offs quantities correct on 123 in SRM and BW?
IF yes, how is it working, do you have some documentation discribing the scenario and the config steps to do?
    Thanks in avance

    Hello RD,
    That's a good question.
You are on the right way. MDM is the tool for you.
    But..
Content Integrator (CI) was first developped for Shell, to address the need of cross-referencing of material/supplier/category IDs, for:
    - reporting purpose (actual Spend Analysis)
    - mapping purpose (send of XML PO)
CI was later "fusionned" into the new MDM (1.0) solution.
So now, you can not order CI without MDM (even if some SRM slides still present CI).
But mapping API where developped for all inboud/outbound interfaces in SRM, for materials only (good luck for you).
You will find everywhere this piece of code:
      Call ECI
        CALL FUNCTION 'BBP_PRODUCT_MAP'
          TABLES
            it_input          = lt_mapping_in
            et_output         = lt_mapping_out
          EXCEPTIONS
            logsys_not_found  = 1
            driver_not_found  = 2
            product_not_found = 3
            internal_error    = 4
            OTHERS            = 5.
So it is ok, you have the mapping call, but I don't know if all the rest of the process was really "finalized" (call of API mapping in CI, via XI). I personnaly never used it, but I assume it should work.
I my opinion your process is supported by SAP:
    - Extract materials from both R/3 and consolidate them as a single product in MDM.
    - Distribute this product into SRM.
    - Maintain contracts on those products.
    - Distribute them to R/3 (The ECI call is also used during contract distribution).
    - Call offs corrects in SRM and BW
For MDM documentation, look at netweaver area of service.sap.com.

  • JAVA aplication and MDM

    Hi forum,
We've created a XI 3.0 scenario in order to make an integration between JAVA applications and MDM
The JAVA application needs the Message Type "XML Namespace" field to be filled, but MDM doesn't import the sent xml messajes through this scenario because "doesn't accept" those xml with this field.
We think we could eliminate this field in Message Mapping through XSLT Mapping, is this possible?
    how could we do that?
    any idea?
    King regards

    Hi
I understood this is ignoring one source field.. in mapping to target message using XSLT .
it is possible..just don't write this field in target message output generation module.
    thanks,
    venu.

  • Enterprise Portal - MDM - LDAP integration

We are succesfully able to integrate Portal to MDM with a trusted connection and with portal users existing in LDAP and mdm users existing in MDM console.
We also successfully integrated MDM with LDAP so that we dont have to store users in console, but manage them in LDAP. But once we did the LDAP integration, portal to MDM connection was lost saying mdm user details could not be retrieved.
Has anybody faced this issue? what key steps to taken care during MDM-LDAP integration.

    Hi goerge,
When ever we integrate MDM with LDAP, we need to make a setting in MDS.ini file.
Please check the "User Identifier" setting in MDS.ini file.
Typically this should be The name of the LDAP id field which will match the value the user provides as the Username at logon.
Make the entry in MDS.ini like User Identifier = cn or SamAccountName.
If that is done, please verify other parameters corresponding to LDAP in MDS.ini as per the table 91 in Page no 291 in MDM Console referece guide.
Or refer to the SAP note 1635338 for reference which is pointing to same issue.
    This should solve your problem.
    Regards,
    Sravan

  • MDM-BOBJ integration for initial load....

I have attended some demos for the MDM-BOBJ integration that dealt with the on-going creation and maintenance of master data but my question is how this is used for the initial load and enrichment for any master data.
When we used D&B for enrichment, data will be enriched/Cleansed  before the initial load then after loading the data to MDM it will be de-duplicated based on the DUNS number .
How the initial load and de-duplication is handled in MDM-BOBJ integration?.   For example, I have 100 thousand records and would like to enrich/Cleanse it before loading to MDM OR after loading to MDM.
    Any help will be appreciated.

    Mike,
Yes, BOBJ dataservices has been extensively used to handle the scenario which you described here.
There is a user guide to explain about the BOBJ-MDM scenarion under Integration of SAP Components with MDM.
[BOBJ DS for Data Enrichment |https://websmp208.sap-ag.de/installMDM71]
hope this helps for Jump start.

  • MDM 3.0 and MDM 5.5

    Hi All,
Can any body tell  what are the differences between MDM 3.0 and MDM 5.5?
    Regards,
    Nikhil

    MDM 3.0
    Strengths
    • Supply chain expertise
    • Global metadata synchronization expertise – especially important to Consumer Packaged
    Goods and Retail industries
    • 3rd generation hub architecture with near term 4th generation features (image/content
    management of A2i)
    Weaknesses
    • Few production references
    • Early ramp up sites included: Deutsche Telekom, Dorel/PacificCycle, ENEL, General
Electric Consumer and Industrial, Heineken, Kingfisher Group, Nestlé, Nokia, Pemex,
Purdue University, Rubbermaid, Shell Europe, Tesoro Petroleum, Weyerhauser,
    Whirlpool
    • Can be purchased only “on approval of SAP executive management on case by case
    basis”
    • Batch emphasis; on-line capability not suitable for high transaction rates in large-scale
    B2B or B2C scenarios
    • Emphasis on product/supplier capabilities rather than customer/employee
    • Lack of strong SI channel (the number of SIs promoting NetWeaver is a good channel,
however, the subset that are catering to SAP MDM is far smaller)
    • Under invested in marketing
    • No longer supported after 2012
    MDM 5.5
    Strengths
    • Support for single view of all major objects – customer, product, supplier and employee
    (albeit lightweight customer and employee)
    • Focused on interactive cleansing and distribution of Material, Supplier, Customer, and
Employee master data within (SAP R/3-based) ERP environment; note that several large
organizations are using it outside of a SAP ERP environment such as GE and
    Rubbermaid
    • Global metadata synchronization expertise
    • Product information management focus
o Fully integrated electronic and print publishing
o High performance parametric search across rich content
    • Hierarchical management
    • Integration with SAP infrastructure
    • 4th generation data hub features (image/content management of A2i)
    • English, French and German initial support; Japanese 3Q2005
    Weaknesses
    • Minimal references (Whirlpool)
    • Currently only supports “master data harmonization” – no automated central authority for
master data and therefore cannot enforce centralized/corporate data quality standards
    • Focused on interactive cleansing and distribution of Material, Supplier, Customer, and
Employee master data within (SAP R/3 based) ERP environment (n.b. = Not a typo – this
is either a strength or a weakness depending upon one’s requirements)
    • Batch emphasis, e.g. customer data is typically replicated in batch mode among
participating systems; however, enterprises can propagate customer data using the same
common architecture that is used by the product hub for replication/distribution via SAP
NetWeaver Exchange Infrastructure or directly via APIs
    • Lack of strong SI channel (the number of SIs promoting NetWeaver is a good channel,
however, the subset that are catering to SAP MDM is far smaller)
    • Under invested in marketing (if SAP was true believer at the executive level in the
strategic nature of enterprise master data management, then the SAP MDM product
would be much more prevalent in the overall SAP marketing mix)
    • Emphasis on product/supplier capabilities rather than customer/employee
    Hope this will be helpful.
    Reward points if found useful.

  • Differences between MDM 3.0 and MDM 5.5?

    Hi,
Can anybody tell, what are the differences between MDM 3.0 and MDM 5.5?
I heard that, there are lot and lot of changes...
    Thanks for your reply,
    regrads,
    cg

We can look at differences in more than one way:
    1. Technology wise
MDM5.5 is developed in C++ & runs on a C++ engine as compared to MDM 3.0 which runs under WAS
However MDM 5.5 is integrated with NW largely, though it can & is planned to be improved further
    2. Product Catalog Management
MDM 5.5 has rich PCM capabilities which did not exist in MDM 3.0
    3. Other additional capabilities in 5.5
    Multilingual support
Syndication of data to XI or file system
Lean, R/3 Idoc based model for supplier, customer, material, employee
    4. Ease of installation and usage is a also an advantage of 5.5
You can read Nitza Levi's blog on MDM home page for more details

  • SAP MDM-BOBJ Integration architecture

    Dear folks,
in one of the solution providing scenarios i need clarification on the architecture of BOBJ and MDM. i have been seeing in the documents that BOBJ server is falling in between source and MDM. However i feel it is more relevent to send a file from MDM to BOBJ and get the data enriched(Data quality) and send back to MDM. That means MDM is falling between source and BOBJ.
please provide some help on this.
    Regards
    Biswanath

To start with, the [MDM homepage on SDN |Enterprise Master Data Management]currently features a Webcast showing an MDM-BOBJ data quality services integration case, and a How-to Guide dealing with integrating the BOBJ ETL capabilities with MDM.
