BI7 Analyser : Sap Gui710

Dear Experts:
We have installed SAP GUI 710 and loaded patches gui710_3-10002995 and add on : gui710_3-10002995. We have also install.net framework v2
We get the following error when running transaction rrmx form SAP easy access:
Run time error 91 Object variable or with block variable not set
When debugging we get the following error message:
call pAddin.SetConnectionFromHandle(p_connectionObj).
In addition we see the BEX (2004s) toolbar but cannot execute any toolbar item
We are able to use Analyzer (SAP BW 3.x)
Kindly advise.

Hi,
I'm having the same problem as you, and I also executed what you did: installing SAP GUI 7.1, GUI710_3-10002995.EXE and bi710_2-10004472.exe
I finally tried installing bi710sp02p_201-10004472.EXE but the problem still persists: I'm unable to open BEx Analyzer (7.0)
I'm on Windows XP SP2, MS Office 2003.
If you find further information, please let me know.

SAP GUI710 Logon issue

Hi , all
Now , i am using SAP GUI710 , Patch level 3, i have an issue , if i leave the sec untouched for about 5 minutes , GUI will log off itself , and give me this information:
CD1: connection to partner " ..........: sapdp00" broken
WSAECONNRESET: connection reset by peer
though i can logon again , but this really boring me , every 5 minute , if no activity , then auto logoff and i need to logon again.
what is the problem , how to fix this ? thanks.

If this happens for all the users , pl check the SAP instance parameter value rdisp/gui_auto_logout.
If it is 0 there wont be any auto log out.
set the value in seconds means if you set it at 300 it will log out automaticaly after 5 secs.
Pl try this . Dont forget to restart the server after making the changes.

One of the reson for this may be the login ID which you are using is not the owner or the does not have the Admin. rights... Please check it.

BI7.0 SAP Support

Dear BI consultants,
In our project, BI 7.0 implemented. BI developers are using Bex analyzer, WAD, Report designer, Query designer tools.
I heard next year SAP will introduce business object and SAP will stop the support for the above mentioned tools.
So is it mandatory to change to BO in 2009? will SAP support BI7.0 development tools in 2009?
(I visited service.sap.com/PAM and found that BI will come under SAP NW04s and its support is till 2013)

In this article its nowhere mentioned SAP will not support bex after 2010. Its mentioned enhancement will stop but my question will SAP support Bex after 2010 ?
1. BEx Web Application Designer will be not be further enhanced beyond the release 7.0 EhP1
in 2008.
2.Pioneer (code name for 2009 release) provides superset of capabilities from both BEx 7.0
and Business Objects Voyager. Voyager customers migrate to Pioneer. BEx Web Analyzer
will be not be further enhanced.
3. BEx Report Designer 7.1, last release in 2008, available without enhancements until
2010, maximum maintenance until 2016, will be replaced with Crystal Light product.

BI7 Analysis Authorisations?

With the introduction of analysis authorisations in BI7, am I correct in thinking the old roles such as S_RS_COMP are no longer used and we, instead, create a role which contains 0TCAACTVT, 0TCAIPROV and 0TCAVALID?

If we want field level security then in 3.5 is called Reporting Authoizations in 7.0 is called Analysis Authorizations.....
Prerequisite for AA is infoobject should be authorization relevent.
one AA can contain multiple characteristics.We can add AA directly to the user...
If we want assign to a role then use S_RS_AUTH then assign this role to the user.....
WE HAVE TO INCLUDE ATLEAST ONE OF THESE (0TCAACTVT, 0TCAIPROV and 0TCAVALID) IN ANALYSISAUTHORIZATION

Missing Role display in BI7 Analyser

Hi
We are trying to remove sap_all from all our users in BI7.
We have generally completed the admin tasks but we have an issue with Analyser Role display.
We have created workbooks and assigned them to roles and if the user has sap_all they can see the workbooks in the role menu. If they don't have sap_all they don't have any roles displayed in the 'open' window when using analyser also they don't have an infoarea icon displayed under the role icon.
I think this is probably something quite simple but I can't spot it. By the way we have created the roles manually using our BW3.x knowledge.

In the role given to the user's (other than SAP_ALL). Just include the Two authorization objects:
S_RS_COMP and S_RS_COMP1.
Please provide these values for the 2 authorization objects for display and execute purpose for the users as bwloe:
ACTVT: Display, Execute (03,16)
RSINFOAREA: *
RSINFOCUBE: *
RSZCOMPID: *
RSZCOMPTP: *
Don't give any write/edit activities.
Then they can see all the queries, workbooks and infoareas.

Analysing SAP Java Memory Usage in Unix/Linux

I need to analyze the SAP Java memory usage of Unix /Linux machine..NW 7.0
Please guide with the commands and steps..complete prcedure.
Based on it I should decide whether to create a new server node (or) increasing heap size

Do you have performance problems?
How many CPU's are in the server?
Did you check Log Configuration for delays or errors?
Did you tune any exisiting parameters?
You can add the nodes only if there is performance problems. You may think of adding one node to start with
Proper number of server nodes within an instance:
u2013 #ServerNodes = availableMemory / (JavaHeapPermSpaceStack)
You can calculate the server nodes based on below formula
No. of server Node = (RAM you want to assign or available RAM in GB)/2.5 ============> for 64-bit system
No. of server Node = (RAM you want to assign or available RAM in GB)/1.5 ============> for 32-bit system
Hence as per above discussion, we should go with 5 server nodes means,
5 = RAM/2.5 (Assuming you are on 64-bit platform)
i.e. RAM = 12.5 GB
2). u2013 Configure JVM heap according to Note 723909 and Note 1008311 - Recommended Settings for NW 7.0 >= SR2 for the AIX JVM (J9)

Workbook not showing result in BI7 analyser

We have a workbook which executes and displaying results well in BW3.5, but not displaying output with BI7 Bex, showing as client is out of memory, I am using 2GB ram system , the same is the case with all BI7 Bex patches( till SP 5). Can anyone suggest us some solution ? This is a bit large result set. The same workbook works fine for minimum result set , but users need large result set.

Hi,
These kind of problems occur due to the size of the repository sheets. If the queries are having complex definitions, the filling of the repository sheets takes a lot of time. So the formatting time will increase, this is expected in Excel Workbook. However this is not the same with web reporting as concept of repository sheet and cell definitions are very different in WEB. So you can use web reporting is you are comfortable with it.

BI7 Analysis Authorisations - relationship between value & hierarchy auths

Does anybody know how we can set up the new analysis authorisations to allow a user to use a Query selection for cost centre based upon a hierarchy and yet restrict the cost centre data they can display by value authorisations?

It worked for us.
You have to act in two directions:
1) the CRM config in the field 'Parameter Name for Custs:' should get the name of the info-set for which you need to extract the data.
For instance if the info-set is 0BPARTNER, that is the value to set.
2) the BW query should not have a carachteristic and a variable, but only the carachteristic (which is the info-set that you are referencing to in the CRM).
After this changes have been done, the system works fine.

Table around BI7 (analyse) authorizatoins

Hi guys,
I'm very interested in BW specific system tables giving information required for BW authorization administrators. Since now I could determine following tables:
RSECUSERAUTH - Assignment of analyse authorizations to user
RSADMINCV23 - Activation of analyse authorizations
RSECVAL - Infoobkject and maintained values in analyse authorizations
Could you help me finding other table which could be helpfull analysing a BW system. E.g. which table is showing the infoobjects set to authorizations relevant?

Hi,
By searching with term RSEC* in SE16, you can find the tables. Some other relevant tables are RSECAUTHVAL, RSECHIE etc.
You can also refer to program RSEC_GENERATE_AUTHORIZATION to see which tables are being updated through it.
For seeing the list of Authorization relevant infoobjects, you can refer to Analysis Authorization data for 0BI_ALL (through RSECADMIN or through the above table by filtering auth name by 0BI_ALL wherever applicable.

Analysing SAP Support Packs

This is a very general question. My company is currently on support pack 15 and we are going to apply 16-22 prior to a WM implementation. I have been tasked at looking at 16-22 to see what changes will apply to us in MM and PP.

Analysing sap transactions

Hi all,
I want to develop some abap reports which in most cases are modifications of existing transactions like ( me2l me1p etc.)
but for this first of all i need to know from which tables and which table, the input is taken and what are the fields and tables the output is being displayed..
so for all fields that are interest to me i am taking its technical information.
this works fine in most cases but for some fields it is showing some structures rather than tables.
my question is :-
1. is there any other method / material that i can refer to know about the fields.
2. if the fields are generated using some calculation, is there any document that containing these calculations ?

i already tried st05 but i did not get what i wanted.
it just showing from which table and which field the data is being taken.
it not even showing what happened to this data i mean is there any modifications...
and also for a transaction like me2l, as it related with many tables the trace will be very large.
and we dunno which field is corresponding to what field in the output.
