BI7 Transformation Proposal
Hi @ll
after working for years with BW3.x we are used to get a very good proposal when generating new transferrules.
Now we realise a new BI-project with release 7 and wonder that there are almost no proposals when creating a new transformation.
This ist particularly very annoying when designing transformations with 20 or more mappings ;-(
Is this a general problem?
Is there a workaround / SAP-Note or somthing else ?

Are you sure you used to get the proposal in case of R/3 to BW mappings in transfer rules...I dont think it was there and you had to map everything manually.
But if the mappings was between BW objects then it used to give proposal becasue you have the same infoobjects used in the source as well as target.
The same happens in BI 7 as well...if the mapping is between R/3 and BW then there is no proposal but if its between BW objects like DSO and cube and if they use same infoobject...then mappings are done automatically for the same objects.

Recordmode=D/R with BI7.0 Transformation seems to be effectless
Hi Experts,
I've got a little issue and would like you to comment it or give some hints if possible:
We loaded data from the PSA to an ODS-object using 3.5 data-staging (transfer rules) and we were used to, that whenever a deletion (Recordmode="R" or "D" - I'm aware of the difference) was loaded to the PSA, that it was forwarded into the ODS-activation-queue and deleted the already existing/activated record at the moment of activation.
In the meanwhile we switched to BI7 data-staging (transformations) and had to realize that the recordmode-flag isn't forwarded to the activation-queue anymore. It is always handled as if it was an After-Image (Recordmode=""). Hence the record is not deleted from the ods at the moment of activation.
Sidenote: all keyfigures are set to "overwrite"-mode - they are not summerized.
Is that the normal behaviour? How can I reimplement the deletion-process as we knew it from the 3.5 forwarding?

MarcoFound it... - Using BI7 transformations you have to manage the recordmode-stating in a different "rule-group". Didn't realize this so far. So in the end only the tranformation-rule for the recordmode is missing. In BI 3.5 there was no need to configure that explicitly.

Can somebody please let me know is it possible to install Business content in BI7 with transformation , currently in my system it is installing in 3.x only. I would like to install the entire BI7 way.

While we installing business content we don't have option to install bi7 transformation or bw3.x transfer rules .
Recently we have done in our project ,we installed 3.x data source by making option data flow before and option in grouping .So tranfer rules and update rules intalled .
Then we migrated the 3.x data source to bi7 data source by using rsds tcode.

Migration of update rules to transformations
Hi Experts,
We are in process of migrating update rules to Transformations.
We have following data flow for one info cube.
*Existing*
Data source -
>transfer Rules--->info source->update rules--
>cube
New
Data source -
>transformations----
>cube
When I am trying to create transformations, I am not able to read master data properties for all info objects.
It gives error that No info object is available.
Now my question is
it is not possible to read mster data in one transformation?
If I change my new scenario to this then it workes.
Data source -
>transformations----->info source(new BI7)--
>transformations -
>cube
But then I need to convert All existing info source to new one in BI7 then only I can use read from master data functionality.
Please advice.

In BI7, transformations are used to create the dataflow between datasources and data targets. The flow in BI7 can in simple terms be desribed as:
Datasource -> Execute Infopackage -> PSA -> Execute DTP - > Data Target.
During extraction, the infopackage loads data from the source into the PSA specific to the datasource. You can have a look a the data in the PSA by accessing the infosource. Now execute the DTP to push the data from the PSA to the datasource. This is probably the step you are missing, in that the DTP is new to BI7.0. So the steps to create the objects would be:
Create Data Targets
Create Transformations
Create Infopackage and
Create DTP.

How the standard BW3.5 DataSource used in BI7
Hi,
In BI Content, there are huge amount of standard BW3.5 DataSource.
They can be activated from R/3 side and replicated to BI.
Is there anyone know if these DataSources are BW3.x? and if I would like to use the new BI7 transformation technical to these DataSources, what should I do? currently there is an error message when using these 3.x datasource with transformation. for example, for datasource 2LIS_12_VCITM.

All the standard SAP datasources in BI content are 3.x datasources. which means that if you only activate them you cant create a transformation on them. Only update and transfer rules are possible. You'll need to install these datasources and then migrate and activate them inorder to convert them to a 7 datasource. To migrate them, first install them, then right click and choose the migrate option.
Also while migrating choose the migrate with export option, so that you'll be able to restore them to the older versions incase of any problems.

I am trying using an Easy VPN connection on Cisco 800 router from a remote Cisco VPN client on a laptop. I don't know if it's important but I get some error debuging isakmp and ipsec that I would like to know why they appear when connecting through EZVPN.

Unable to create Transformations on DataSource in BI7
Hi ,
Previously I worked on BW3.5. Now I am working on BI7. While creating Transformations on Data Source, It is giving error "Message SY530". It is giving "Cannot Generate proposals" if I create Transformations on InfoSource.
Same message I am getting for DataTransferProcess also ie " Cannot generate proposals".
Please help me in this regard.
Please give me step by step procedure in creating DataSource,Infocube and loading data into InfoCube from Flatfile.

1. go to data source.
2.right click create the data source.
3.load example data.
4. u assign template name.that will copy the ur info object.like char length all.
5.activate it
6.u upload the flat file. it will stores only psa.
7.go to info provider .
8.create ur cube or ods.
9.right clike . give the transformation process.u assign that data source name.
10.now u not get any probs.the proposals atomaticaly generate.because u give the template .
11.activate it.
12.create dtp.
13.execute dtp.
14. now ur flat file data upload succesfully in ur cube or ods.

Automatic Fields Mapping in Transformation - BI7
Greeting,
Getting some development procedures done automatically will definitely boost up productivity and efficiency. Examples include programs to: create mass infoObjects, delete mass infoObjects, and activate mass InfoObjects.
Again, that are just examples.
In line with this, have you ever come across any program for automatic mass mapping in transformation?
Meaning instead of doing it manually, you just fill the source fields and the target field in the program then you press the button and have it ready on the spot.

I have not tried this out. But I guess you can use the class CL_RSTRAN_BUILD and generate transformations via an ABAP program.

I assume that you have 0Material in source and both ZBRAND & ZCOUNTRY in target.
As you said, you ll read master data of ZBRAND from 0Material.
In the end routine, you shall give the following code to read the master data of ZCOUNTRY from ZBRAND.

Try to implement this solution from OSS 998730:

I am working on a transformation where I need to populate a field wrt to a Keyfigure!!!
Like IF Amount = 0 then Field = F else Field = C. When I try to insert a formula in the rule, I am getting an error message as the content is not Boolean. Could anybody help?
