BI7.x sessions did not killed

Hi,
We are facing the issue on the number of sessions that are generated in R/3 when a user is active on the portal. If I watch my user is transaction SM04, I see many sessions are being created and when logging of, users dont get closed. This is happening only If I execute the report 7.x template.
I found many notes but no result.Can you please help .
- Lisa

Hi Lisa,
I do not have a solution to this issue.
But I observed an interesting thing while opening 3-4 web templates.
As you said, on closing a web template the session still can be seen in SM04 for the user. However, I saw that the memory consumed (last column - Megabyte in SM04) reduced from 4 to 1.
Secondly, if I opened a new web template, it did not create a new session, but used the existing one (which remained after closure of the previous template) and increased the memory utilized for that session from 1 to 4 MB.
So I guess that though SAP does not kill these sessions immediately (maybe it does after a certain period of time), it does try to optimize the resource (memory) utilization.
Hope this helps!
Regards,
Saurabh

  • Slim/Gnome (ck-launch-session did not fix)

    Hey guys, I've searched up and down wikis and fora today to no avail.  My problems are as follows:
    When using SLiM with GNOME:
    1) nm-applet and the "Network Connections" gui give no control over the network unless run as root
    2) No GUI way to shut down
    Everywhere I go has said to either A) add ck-launch-session to .xinitrc (or the occasional other place, none of which have worked for me) or B) edit policy kit things, using CLI tools that have man pages but I don't actually have, and don't know where to get.  I can't even go and edit them myself, because where the files are supposed to be are restricted even to root, or don't exist.
    For now, I switched to gdm, but if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to switch back to SLiM, if I can get it to work.  Just open to ideas at this point.  Let me know what information you need, I'd be happy to get it for you.  Thanks in advance.

    Yes, it does, but I had to do some weird stuff to make it work.  If you need, I can try to look up the changes I made, but I'll be lucky to find it.  I've been trying everything I can think of to fix the problems caused by this.

    Are you in power and network groups?
    Yes, to both.

  • ERP database did not shutdown

    Hi
    We have Oracle ERP R12.0.6 running on single node configuration. Usually we take full offline backups on friday morning. Even after issuing the command > shutdown immediate, database did not shutdown for 2 hours as some 'Create accounting' concurrent program was running for past 44 hours. Why database did not kill this session? Is our SGA or redolog files size are not proper?
    How to diagnose this issue?

    Yes, you are right. Using the other session, i had issue shut abort and it has resolved the issue. We have job_queue_processes = 2 and aq_tm_processes=1.
    But my concern is, i cannot add >shut abort command in my script. What is the other alternative or what parameter to be tuned? Please guide me.

    16 mo young Mac Pro will not turn on. Dead. Why. No problems ever! Installed Yosemite and did not boot up after. Did that kill it? To young to die. What happened?what do I do now??????? Help!

    Note that you don't have a Mac Pro as stated. Your profile says you have a MacBook Pro. Please clarify as they are entirely different computers. If nothing below works for you, then make a Genius Appointment and take it in for service.
    Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
         Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
         COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
         computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
         screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • IEnterpriseSession.logoff does not kill the web session

    Hi,
    i can reproduce the following problem in my application also with the
    BusinessObjects Enterprise Java SDK Sample JSP Application.
    - start the application
    - select Schedule And View Web Intelligence Documents
    - Login with user A
    - View a Webi Report
    - Logoff
    - select Schedule And View Web Intelligence Documents
    - Login with user B
    - View the same Webi Report
    The second call of the Webi Report with openDocument.jsp will takeover the
    web session of the first call
    and create the report with user A.
    Only closing the whole Internet Explorer helps.
    So my assumption is that IEnterpriseSession.logoff kills only the enterprise
    session and not the web session.
    Any help?
    regards
    Gordon

    Hi, Gordon,
    You are correct in that IEnterpriseSession.logoff kills only the enterprise session and not the web session.
    When using openDocument.jsp, the only thing in the URL that changes between calls are the parameters (everything after openDocument.jsp).  Because of this, the browser sees it as a cache hit and re-uses the credentials it already has.  The only way to get it to use different credentials is to exit the browser and reload it.  Opening new windows from the current browser isn't good enough.
    There's an SAP Knowledge Base Article about this:
    [1384047 - OpenDoc Is Not Using the Correct Logon Token|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1384047]
    It's a little involved, but basically it says that this is expected behavior and that the only way around it is to change your code to use the Enterprise SDK instead of openDocument and to manage the logon tokens yourself.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I manually restore a browsing session's tabs? Firefox did not reopen them after a computer freeze and shutdown.

    Last night around 4 AM I was browsing in Firefox when my laptop suddenly froze. No mouse or ctl+alt+del responsiveness, nothing, just a frozen unresponsive screen, so after waiting a few moments in vain I forced a shutdown and restart with the power button. I've done this in the past without problems, but this time when I restarted my computer Firefox did not reopen my tabs automatically, or prompt me to restore the session. This is pretty alarming as I have plenty of websites tabbed and kept open permanently that I don't know if I will ever be able to find again. Can anyone give me help in manually restoring a previous session's tabs? I assume this information is stored somewhere on my computer, for Firefox's own use.

    I suspect that Firefox doesn't store session history for private windows, but you could try rescuing all the sessionstore files in your currently active personal settings folder (also known as your Firefox profile folder) just in case.
    Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
    That should take you to the critical folder. Try copying all sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a different location (e.g., Documents) where there's no danger of Firefox overwriting them.
    If you check the timestamps, can you tell which one has the best chance of having your old windows and tabs? Open that one in a text editor. You may need to turn on text wrapping. If you can remember any text from the URL or title of the page you were viewing, try searching in the text to see whether you can find it. If not, the quest may be futile.

  • Kill session not killing.

    I have searched the forum and could not find anyone with this problem.
    I have many sql tools to get the serial# and session data to kill sessions that have been connected for more than 3-7 days.
    I alter system kill session 'sid, serial';
    result: system altered.
    But when I query again the same "killed" session is still showing. Has anyone had this issue before? Is there such a thing as "zombie" sessions that hit Oracle. Most of theses sessions I am trying to kill are more than 2 weeks old and I assume idle.
    We are running 10g (10.1.0.2.0) on Linux AS3.

    Hi,
    54 ?? Then you you can kill these processes on OS level: kill <spid>
    Be sure you do not kill background processes such as below:
    SYSTEM@ORACLE10> select c.name, b.spid, a.sid
      2  from v$session a, v$process b, v$bgprocess c
      3  where c.paddr  <> '00'

  • Every time I open Internet, I receive a message that my last session closed unexpectedly, even thouhg it did not.

    When I am finished with internet I close the browser, from the "X" at the top right, or from the File, Exit options. But the next time I open internet (from the desktop shortcut or from the start menu, I receive a window that says my last Firefox extension closed unexpectedly, and it gives me the option to restart my last session or start a new session. How do I stop this window from appearing when my last session was NOT closed unexpectedly?

    That sounds that Firefox didn't close properly the previous time.

  • Hi.  I down load all of my pictures to iPhoto.  I was removing some even folders to make room, but DID NOT delete any of the ones I needed (and there are a lot of photos as I am a photographer just starting out).  All of my photos are gone.  ALL of them.

         Can anyone help me.  All of my photos from iPhoto are gone.  There are three weddings that I photographed and may other sessions (I am a brand new photographer and this is going to kill my business).  I am so sick to my stomach.  I was deleting some even files due to the fact that the start up disk was almost full but DID NOT delete everything.  I finished what I was doing and then went to dinner.  I came home to do more editing and EVERYTHING is gone.  EVERYTHING, but the iphoto program was still there.  Is there any chance that these pictures could still be somewhere on the hard drive?
    Thank you,
    Kari

    Did you use the finder to delete any photos that are in iPhoto?
    If so you have trashed your library - you choices are to put it back EXACTLY like it was, restore your backup or start over (right click on the iPhoto library and show package contents, drag the masters folder to the desktop, create a new library and start importing
    NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library - ONLY use iPhoto to manage yoru photos

  • Session is not Migrated when I use HttpSessionActivationListener .

    Hi all,
    I studied about HttpSessionActivation Listener and in order understand it fully I created a simple program . I studied that the listener will be invoked whenever session attribute is migrated from one JVM to another .
    The following was what I did to understand HttpSessionActivationListener
    Created two instances of Tomcat in a single box.(Actually two services)
    Configured Apache Http Server to point the two instances (Load balancing and fail over) [Using this link|http://thought-bytes.blogspot.com/2007/03/how-to-load-balance-tomcat-55-with.html]
    Created a small web application and deployed in two servers

    I'm also getting "Session Did Activated" message (overridden in sessionDidActivated method) whenever I start the same instance(say "Tomcat instance 1").
    What I expected
    ============
    After stopping the Tomcat instance (say "Tomcat instance 1") I reloaded the same page expecting this time it will be served by another Tomcat instance(say "Tomcat Instance 2" and I will get "SessionDidActivated" message from "Tomcat instance 2" but it didn't worked as I expected instead the page is served by another Tomcat instance("Tomcat instance 2") but the session is not migrated and I'm not getting "SessionDidActivated" in the new Tomcat instance.
    I also created a new Servlet named as (Servlet3) and modified SessionExample.java to this .so that It contains button and when it clicked it will hit a new Servlet(Servlet 3) but it also doesn't help.
    I'm trying this in a single physical machine with two tomcat instance configured with Apache Http Server .
    Is anything I'm missing ?
    Please clarify me why the session is not migrated .
    Thanks in advance

    Hi ejp,
    One more question I have . Today I tried to find out why the listener class is not invoked(I doesn't get "SessionDidActivated" and "SessionWillPassivate" sysouts from listener class) and found that when I enable clustering in Tomcat it's doesn't works(even though session migrates) and when I switch back to normal mode it does work .
    Following is the fragment I uncomment to enable clustering
    <!--

                     managerClassName="org.apache.catalina.cluster.session.DeltaManager"

                    mcastPort="45564"
                    mcastFrequency="500"
                    mcastDropTime="3000"/>
                <Receiver
                    className="org.apache.catalina.cluster.tcp.ReplicationListener"
                    tcpListenAddress="auto"
                    tcpListenPort="4001"
