BIB-9509  - Oracle olap can't create cursor

Hi, I have this BIB-9509 when I try to create a report or graphic.
I've seen when I use a fact table with 2 or 3 dimensional tables the Bi Beans work without problem but when I use more than 4 dimensional tables I find the BIB-9509 error.
Anyone know about that.
Thanks
Javier

Actually I am following the example downloaded from www.iafsoft.com. The example involves only a one dimensional cube which resides in Analytic Workspace. There's no problem at all in displaying cubes which reside in relational tables. The environment I have is:
Oracle 9.2.0.2.1 (Enterprise Edition)
JDeveloper 9.0.3
Windows 2000 (SP2)
256M memory
In this environment JDeveloper can connect to the database, can access the catalog owned by BIBCAT, can display cubes owned by BIBDEMO, can query data residing in AW through OLAP_TABLE, and can also see the dimension prd and the measure sls in the presentation wizard.
I am really stumped (for the last several days already) as to why JDeveloper can't display a simple 1 dimensional cube, especially that the same identical cube was demonstrated in the last Oralce OpenWorld few months back.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
Don

    This is the patch: 2529822
    "Best Practices for Tabular Cube Aggregation & Query Operations". Thanks very much for your advice.
    I followed the instructions in the document, but it did not seem to make a difference when
    trying to follow the tutorial instructions and using the SALES measure.
    However, I selected the stock price measures and it worked ok.
    Is there a size limit here? I am looking at Oracle OLAP and BIBeans to replace our Cognos installation,
    which is expensive and unreliable on unix. Of course our managers and customers want every dimension
    across a huge fact table to be available for end users...

    Hi, I am in New Presentation Wizard trying to create a new Cross tab and receive these error messages:

    Actually I am following the example downloaded from www.iafsoft.com (http://www.iafsoft.com/downloads/index.htm presentation number 32106). The example involves only a one dimensional and one measure simple cube which resides in Analytic Workspace. It was demonstrated in one of the Oracle OpenWorld sessions in SF back in November 02. So I trust that it will work.

So all this convinces me that installation is ok.
    Here's how the error occurs: In the presentation wizard, I select the measure from the left window and move to the right window. I then click the "Next" button to display the layout editor. Then when I click the "Next" button, the wizard won't go to the next step. If I click the "Finish" button instead, the error message will show up.

    I suspect your metadata is incomplete. Please refer to the bi_checkconfig utility to test your metadata. This can be found on the documentation section of the BI Beans section of OTN:
    Displaying Information about your BI Beans Client Configuration using the bi_checkconfig utility
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bib/htdocs/904/tech_notes/bicheckconfig/bi_checkconfig_tn.html
    This will allow you to test the structures in your metadata to ensure each object (dimension, cube) can in fact be queried.
    Hope this helps

    The errormessages for BI Beans can be found in JDeveloper under the Help menu-> BI Beans Help Contents-> BI Beans Reference-> BI Beans Error Messages. This one shows following:
    BIB-9509 Oracle OLAP did not create cursor.
    Cause: An error occurred in Oracle OLAP during the creation of the cursor for use on the client.
    Action: Check the underlying error stack to find the root cause of the problem.
    Essentially, an error is returned from OLAP. The error should be listed further down in the error messages. Most likely there is a problem with your metadata for the dimension you added.

  • BIB-9509 error when trying to create query on 7 Dimensional Measure

    PART1 of the text below -----------------------------
    Is there a limit on the ability to create a bibean query on measure that is associated with a large number of dimensions.
    Basically I am trying to create a bibean query on measure which has 7 dimensions.
    When I right mouse on my ProjectDesigner, I select 'New Query'
    The Query Wizard appears as expected, I follow all instructions on Step2 of the wizard.
    Step 2:
    A list appears of all the available measures and asscociated dimensions that can be used.
    I scroll down the list and sure enough my 7 dimensional measure is available.
    I select it and it places it the Right Box. I see a tree structure that shows me the measure
    and it's associated Dimensions and their heirarchies.
    Step 3:
    I cick on Next, then I enter the Layout page.
    The layout initally has 5 page dims, 1 across dim and 1 down dims. I can re-orientate the tiles to manipulate the layout with no problems
    Now when I press next I hit a big problem
    The wizard errors with the following problem
    BIB-9509 Oracle OLAP did not create cursor.
    oracle.express.ExpressServerExceptionError class: OLAPI
    Server error descriptions:
    DPR: Unable to create server cursor, Generic at TxsOqDefinitionManager::createCursorManager[i]Long postings are being truncated to ~1 kB at this time.

    PART 2 of the text below ------------------------------
    I re -tried all of the above with 1,2 and 3 dimensional measures and I had no problems whatsoever. I was able to complete the query and select the appropriate dimension values.
    The dimensional information is held in an Analytic workspace. I have created the correct Relational Views using OLAP TABLE and registered these views using the CWM2 packages, so they be viewed by BIBEANS/JDeveloper.
    Can anybody help me from the BIBEANS team thank you
    I have installed latest production JDEV and Bibeans 9.0.3.1035 and Oracle 9.2.0.2 with all the
    appropriate patches.
    WIN200 os with 512MB
    Can anybody help me from the BIBEANS team
    thank you

  • How can I create cursors within the cursor?

    How can I create cursors within the cursor?
    Table1 2001 - 2007 data
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
    Seq_Num
    Value1
    Value2
    Table2_Historical (doesn't have Num as a field) 1990 - 2000 data
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Seq_Num
    Value1
    Value2
    Table3_06
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
    My result table should be:
    Table_result_06
    Account_no
    Account_eff_dt
    No_account_holder
    Num
    Value1_min (the minimum value for the minimum of record_sequence)
    Value2_max (the maximum value for the maximum of record_sequence)
    I have to get data from Table1 and Table2_Historical. If one account was open in 1998 and is still effective, the minimum value of that account is in the Table2_Historical.
    Let's say I open a cursor:
    cursor_first is
    select * from table3_06;
    open csr_first
    loop
    fetch cursor_first into
    v_Account_no
    v_Account_eff_dt
    v_No_account_holder
    v_Num
    EXIT WHEN csr_first%NOTFOUND;
    How can I open a second cursor from here that will get the Seq_Num from Table1
    csr_second
    select Seq_Num from Table1 where
    v_Account_no = Account_no
    v_Account_eff_dt <= Account_eff_dt
    v_No_account_holder=No_account_holder
    v_Num = Num
    How does it works???
    Thanks a lot

    Thanks so much for replying back. Here is what I am trying to do.
    I have to create a table for each year 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 that has all the account numbers that are active each year plus some other characteristics.
    Let’s say I will create Table_result_06. This table will have the following fields. The account number, account effective date, Number of the account holder and the field Num (The primary key is a combination of all 4 fields), the beginning look of value 1 in 2006, the last look of value 1 in 2006.
    Table_result_06
    Account_no key
    Account_eff_dt key
    No_account_holder key
    Num key
    Value1_min (the minimum value for the minimum of record_sequence)
    Value2_max (the maximum value for the maximum of record_sequence)
    All the active account numbers with the Account_eff_dt, No_account_holder and Num are in the Table3. As such I can build a query that connects Table3 with table Table1 on all 4 fileds, Account_no, Account_eff_dt, No_account_holder, Num and find the Value1_min for the min of req_sequence in 2006 and Value1_max for the max of req_sequence in 2006. Here my problem starts.
    Table 1 doesn’t have a new entry if nothing has changed in the account. So if this account was open in 1993 and nothing has changed I don’t have an entry in 2006 but this doesn’t mean that this account doesn’t exist in 2006. So to find the minimum value I have to go back in 1993 and find the max and min for that year and that will be max and min in 2006 as well.
    As such I have to go to Table_2 historical and search for min and max. But this table doesn’t have the field NUM and if I match only on the Account_no, Account_eff_dt and No_account_holder I don’t get a unique record.
    So how can I connect all three tables, Table 1 for max and min, if it doesn’t find anything will go to table 2 find the two values and populate Table_result_06.
    Thanks so much again for your hep,

    This error is fired when the code cannot generate SQL for one of the dimensions of a cube. Do you have a dimension without any hierarchies? It may help if you could list each dimension along with its hierarchies and levels.

  • Can we create cursor using the table created dynamically

    Dear all,
    Can we create the cursor using the table which is created dynamically using "Execute immediate" within the same procedure,
    or is there any way to call the table created dynamically ..
    please Do Help me in this

    Well, I don't think this approach is bad in any possible circumstances. It depends on the requirements we don't know. Yes, usually applications should not be designed in this way. But 'usually' does not mean 'never'. One possible case is described in Oracle's example Referencing Database Objects that Do Not Exist at Compilation. It's possible to assume that tables inv_01_2003, inv_04_2003, etc from the referenced topic What Is Dynamic SQL? are generated automatically by some job using dynamic create table stmt. If the OP has similar requirements tnen this approach is not bad. It may not be the best one but it at least is not so bad as you said.
    I believe that OPs know their requirements much better than me. This is why I always try to answer the exact question. If the approach is really ugly then I don't answer such questions at all.

  • BPA Suite, Oracle XE, can't Create DB

    For some reason, now I can't create new databases from within the BPA Suite nor the admin tool. I was able to create a db before, as well as import the Sample, Getting started backup. It appears as if 'part' of the db is created, but not enough to login with - I get a generic error when logged in as system in the BPA Tool itself, select the server, right-click new... I can open, close, backup, save whatever in the existing database.
    From the admintool in interactive mode, I get the following java exceptions.
    Any idea what to check next? In the database itself, it appears as if there is plenty of room in the databases (via apex, view tablespaces), although the system ts is full, not sure if that matters.

    thanks for any tips

    Well, in the case of the eval 11g the server is embedded with the BPA Suite and/or is simply Oracle XE. I had restarted both of these and since it is Windows, I restarted Windows too. Nothing worked.
    So, I ended up exporting (well, backing up) those "databases" that I wanted and reinstalled everything. That, too, was quite the experience. At least the eval copy of this is not consistent in behavior (seems the version on the server changes daily, although I couldn't get the latest one to install, reverted to a saved version of the download), the install does not work consistently and even worse, when the install fails there are no such indications... it all looks just fine (in my case, attempts to use non-default tablespaces did not work, the log file indicated a bad login without any details on what really failed, yet install didn't say a thing)...
    Based solely on my experience with the eval copy, if it were up to me, I would not use this product at all. You may have other experiences, but the lack of current and correct documentation along with inconsistent behavior makes the administration of this tool a guessing game...even restoring the database that I had backed up failed the first time (couldn't login), but I could delete it, and attempted again and it worked that time. Just very poor error messages (as in none), and inconsistent behavior doesn't lead to trusting this very much, if at all.

    Thank you for your answer, Anthony.
    My issue is not (I suppose) an application issue, because this application works fine if connecting another database instance. Thus I think it's an instance of compatibility problem. Moreover, my application does not use any complex aggregation, just the default settings. That's my source:
    public static Query getEmptyDataSource()
    throws Exception
    checkConnected();
    Query result = new Query();
    result.setSuppressRows (AppProperties.getDefaultRowSuppression());
    result.setSuppressColumns (AppProperties.getDefaultColumnSuppression());
    return result;
